Woah, I'm late to this party. What am I supposed to be doing?
For those who don't know, Wexley is an acrobatic backstabbing rogue that specializes in battlefield mobility, weapon damage output, and being a good luck charm. :)
Wexley
No special feelings one way or the other. Other than the general need to dispatch them, as any reasonably terrified individual would do in the face of such horrors.

Woah, I'm late to this party.
No worries, mate!
What am I supposed to be doing?
We're coming up with a (brief) backstory for the party and I'm taking a look for final approval of all characters. We'll probably get under way later today, after I've gone to do a thing and returned (which should be in a couple of hours).
Wexley
Oh I see...
Well, Wexley can generally be found at several places, such as:
the homes of wealthy/corrupt individuals
the home of the old cleric that once adopted him
black markets or shady alleys (perhaps as a customer, perhaps as a saboteur)
Any taverns where law enforcement does not tend to visit
Perhaps if the old cleric was slain by undead...

Can we get the Gameplay thread up to dot?
Interesting thing, if you make a post in a Gameplay thread, and then delete it, the site still registers the post and anchors the profile you posted with to the thread. That means you can dot threads without actually leaving a post in them.
Sir Simon Ravencourt
Maybe Wexley could be a local contact?
Maybe he's the guy who reported the missing people (not trusting the local law for obvious reasons, but still wanting to do something). Maybe he's an informant for the Ravencourt family, paid to keep an eye out for strangeness.
That would mean he wouldn't have met most/all of us, but would be the hook for our reason for being in the area and would have a reason to work with us when we arrived.
Dourmahr Repinique
Yep, having a chance to dot would be handy when you get a chance. I bookmarked it, but keep forgetting and digging the thread back out of the recruitment pile.
For those looking for equipment, there is a really excellent post on yesterday's blog. It is very PFS oriented and thus there will be things that wouldn't apply at all here, but I think there are probably some excellent ideas for any adventurer who might bump into trouble.
Jeremiah Flynt
Gonna go ahead and say the Flynt is probably a newer addition. Mostly because the idea of the others following the same path of investigations he is amuses me. After running into each other for like the seventeenth time in some ghoul's lair or in the midst of the local creepy forest he finally said, 'Fer Phrasma's sake, willya circus folk quit followin me!'
And from there her eventually joined the party for the sake of at least having someone standing between him and the unspeakable horrors when things got a touch vicious.
Wexley
I'm going to say that, after the disappearance of the old cleric, Wexley starts to shadow groups of undead hunters, looking for someone with answers or the intent to find them. Caught following them, Wexley joined forces with this band, agreeing to meet at the Inn to discuss things.
How's that sound?

I am open to anything. Red is light cavalry with the ability to fight mounted and dimounted. Along side the wolf and his ability to trip, she is going to be hitting pretty hard with greataxe. Let me know if we need to re-do her a little to make her the heavy armor. I am noticing a real lack of classic frontman, or woman in this case.
Wexley
Hey are we doing fractional BAB rounded down, or straight whole-number BAB?
Makes a difference, with my cleric dip.
Sir Simon Ravencourt
It hasn't really been established why we're headed to Barovia beyond "it has something to do with the missing girls", which, to me seems like kind of a weak reason for a bunch of professional monster hunters to come together like this.
Once the serving girl answers, I'm going to embellish a little "pre-story adventure" stuff (nothing elaborate, just some things we might have learned that the GM can run with, or use as Red Herrings)
Wexley
But you can take up to 2 more levels of 3/4 BAB classes at no BAB loss, or even 1 level of 1/2 BAB full caster.
I get to bump my BAB up one whole figure (3 to 4!) as-is, so I'm happy.
Sir Simon Ravencourt
I think we're ready to get a move on, Sean. Feel free to cut away to us on the road or making camp or something unless there's more to do here at the inn.
Wexley
Okay, so, to get things moving along, here's the watch order, as I understand it.
1: Lyra, Ensebullus (Dourmahr requested it, Simon already assigned 2 to this watch)
2: Wexley*
3: Simon*
4: Red, Jeremiah
5: Calvin, (probably where Dourmahr should go)
*Simon Says (lol) that no watches should be single-manned, and more notably, neither Simon nor Jeremiah should have a solo watch, as they have crappy human nightvision. Thus, two people will have to perform double shifts. From everything I read, this should only affect arcane casters, so as long as we don't pick them to double up, we should be fine. That said, don't expect Wexley's mood to brighten if picked for a second shift (unless maybe a fight happens on his shift). So I would propose Wexley & Jeremiah, then double shifts by Red & Simon together (3, 4).
EDIT: bear in mind we can't start moving as soon as the 10 hours is up. Wexley & Lyra will have to pray for an hour, and the arcanes will have to study or some crap like that.
Dourmahr Repinique
We're probably better off swapping Ensebullus and Dourmahr since Dourmahr has darkvision and Ensebullus has low light vision. Usually going to be dark before everyone goes to bed and starting to hit dawn before everyone gets up. But, I'm fine with watch 5 if that's where you want me.
Wexley
That's a valid point, except that with a campfire going all night (as I believe is the intention), there will be conditions of low light, and your darkvision only goes to 60ft anyway, I assume. It's still a factor, but maybe not that significant.
Still, it does make slightly more sense, so I'd say sure. But I don't appear to be in charge, so I guess we'll have to wait for Simon to weigh in. Might mention the whole darkvision thing in the gameplay thread though.
Sir Simon Ravencourt
So, the watch rotation and applicable special senses are-
1: Lyra, Ensebullus (low light)
2: Wexley, Simon (low light)
3: Simon, Wexley (low light)
4: Red, Jeremiah (low light + wolf)
5: Calvin, Dourmahr (Darkvision + familiar)
Does that work for everyone?
Sir Simon Ravencourt
As a note, Simon's used to calling the shots and definitely has a dominant and slightly abrasive personality, but as a player, I am not Simon.
I'm very into communication and discussion. Any time you feel like Simon's being uppity, say so. If it;s a character conflict, we'll roleplay it out. If I somehow upset you as a player, definitely say something. That is never my intent.
Wexley
Haha. Wexley's gonna be ticked @ Simon. For 4 hours.
Works for me though.
Might be worth noting that keeping the fire going all night will probably require a little scrounging during the patrols. But of course we can just use "light" if needed.
EDIT: Yeah, I'm just playing Wexley's 7 CHA + suspicious nature + lack of rapport with the group.
Jeremiah Flynt
Also, yes, the order works nicely for me.
So far I like Simon, he has been pretty good about getting things done.
If Wexley and Simon get out of hand, fully expect Jeremiah to step up and apply his hand the the backs of heads as needed.
Wexley
Unarmed smack? You'd be at -4. The back of Wexley's head is way too fast for that.
Besides, it's not like they're going to try to kill each other. Unless Simon turns undead or something.
Jeremiah Flynt
Nah, you guys are pretty smart and probably know the limits of everyone patience for shenanigans. If we ever have actual cause to fight each other then there are likely greater dangers that just that (i.e. horrible undead thingies) pulling the strings.
