Lyr ducked out of the mist and added his own acid flask to Vex's bombardment. Ranged Touch, point blank, haste, inspired: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 21
I'm down to healing, and consumables.

I'm running pretty low on spell options too. This is my last big combat spell. Time to get creative. Lyr ran into the mist to where Besh had been, dropped to his knees and skidded to a halt, fumbling blind until his hand came down on the little gnome. Breath of Life, heals: 5d8 + 9 ⇒ (7, 2, 3, 3, 3) + 9 = 27 Then everyone heals 5 from Life Link

Go ahead and take it, Besh. I like the idea of you being faster in initiative. I'm going to have a hard time posting much before Wednesday.

Lyr is keeping watch from near the wall he created. When Besh stopped and pointed out that something was wrong, Lyr slipped over to the wall he'd made and notched an arrow to his bow. Also, Channeling Energy to give us some healing. Everyone who wants it please put yourself within 30 feet of Lyr. Channel: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 6, 6) = 27

Lyr turned around and posted himself as guard while the others sorted out the bodies. "Everything this group carried is a potential Scrying focus for the Drow who knew them. We should not carry any of it outside of a Bag of Holding/"

Yeah. It means that spell is never seeing play again. When we level up I'll trade it out for something useful.

I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty pissed off about the stealth-nerf to Terrible Remorse, so this is going to be worded pretty strong. Setting that up to work was a gample, and kind of a pain in the ass. On top of that, I had to spend a class feature to get it on my spell list int he first place, and now I find out it's useless. The intent was to make an enemy lose their actions, not trade a 4th level spell slot for a piddly amount of damage. If I wanted a little bit of ongoing damage, that's what Trial of Fire and Acid is for (and it's lower level, and more damaging) How the hell does Hideous Laughter (a second level spell) do exactly what I want here, but Terrible Remorse (a 4th level spell) doesn't? What's the actual benefit of Terrible Remorse if it doesn't cause action loss? Please note that I'm not mad at Spiderbeard. I'm mad at designers who screw up game balance, and then over-use the nerf bat to try to fix it.

Brenna, you forgot your +2 attack and damage from being Inspired. One of your attacked should have hit. Lyr waved his hand again. A wall of stone erupted in front of the enemy archers. The lines I added are are hard to see, but there is now an angled wall surrounding the enemy archers on the left (it doesn't encircle or trap them within the wall's perimeter, so they should not get a save). The wall is 8' high and 2 feet thick.

Ok. That means you took 34, healed 5 (putting you at 70 HP), and now have all your Rage HP up. Lyr and Vex split another 5 HP last round, plus all the damage they're going to take this round. I'll include the new math in next round update after the bad guys go.

Since Brenna tagged him it should mean his spell resistance is down by 5. Lets see what we can do with that. Spell Penetration: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 Hmm. Hopefully with his resistance down this will work Lyr gritted his teeth. "Suffer." Casting Terrible Remorse on Tiryin. DC 20 Will save.

Lyr nudged his gecko forward and then reached out and tapped Brenna lightly. Casting Splinter Spell Resistance on Brenna's axe. Any target she hits loses 5 SR (not cumulative over multiple hits in the same round, but is cumulative over multiple rounds.)

We are on the ground, on geckos. Walls are an option though (see Saphern's stunt) Readied Action.
Longbow, bane arrow, hunter's blessing, haste, hatred, inspired, point blank: 1d20 + 7 + 3 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 3 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 26

There were a lot of ways this could be resolved. Blackmail over the pool incident. Revealing his sister's treason. Doubling back and relying on their mounts to lose the enemy. Charging past to the elfgate. Lyr notched a black arrow. He really wanted to kill this drow. Readied action, shoot Tiryin on his action, no matter what he does.

Lyr pulled his arrow out of the dead drow and notched it again, taking aim on the furthest away stablehand. Lyr will try to kill every Drow the group comes across if no one tells him not to. I'll wait to see if there's an objection before firing.

Lyr casts silence on one of his drow-bane arrows, then shoots a guard with it right as Saphren strikes. Attack, longbow: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
The guard needs to make a DC 14 Fort save or take 1 point of Con damage.

Shield Other wasn't up, so Lyr takes another 7 HP while healing Brenna with Life Link. False Life was still up, so it all goes to Temp HP.

Brenna, you continue to heal until you're within 5 points of full. Just let me know how much that is so I can work out my own HP. Mounts or flying (or both) would be good. I have a Fan feather token. We might be able to use that to direct our Feather Fall to do a makeshift glide. Or, Vex could tow us while we're weightless.

Life Link kicks in. Brenna heals 5. Lyr takes 3. Vex takes 2 Lyr had been meaning to aim the positive energy charge at the undead, but seeing the terrible wounds the thing had inflicted on Brenna, he changed tactics. He moved in and tapped her on the back. Activating Quickrunner Shirt to close distance to Brenna Breath of Life, Healing: 5d8 + 9 ⇒ (8, 1, 2, 2, 6) + 9 = 28 Then he let loose with a charge of healing energy for good measure.
So that's 54 points of Healing to Brenna.

With Saphren halving this thing's movement we might be able to get through this fight without letting it into melee range. If we can keep back from it, we should. I'm not actually sure what this thing is, but I know it's usually a bad idea to get touched by incorporeal undead.

Knowledge religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 Newp Lyr didn't know what it was, but he knew hostile undead when he saw it. Lyr casts Breath of Life and holds the charge.

Lyr slowly smiled. It wasn't a pretty sight given that he didn't have lips or most of his cheeks. Mostly his already rictus grimace just got a little bigger. "Yes I do." He rifled through his pack and came up with a black iron jar. He opened it and placed it against the wall. Using a Tunnel Creeper on the wall of the tower. Lets make our own exit.

"Passing through this threshold without speaking the password will likely trigger some kind of alarm. When we move through we should expect to be noticed." I admit to being confused, even after the clarification. GM, can you break down the situation like I'm a total moron?

Lyr was left standing for a stunned moment as his body was ruined again. The sensation of dead drow flesh melting off was bad enough, but for Lyr it came with pain. The bone-deep ache of old wounds that had never healed fully or right. The sudden cold of the air on lipless teeth. The uncomfortable pulling sensation of burned skin stretched too tight. The arthritic soreness of old broken bones. Lyr gave the hateful Drow a long look with his mismatched eyes and his ruined face, then headed for the portal.

Lyr cast Silence on an arrow and held it out in front of her. A moment later it vanished. Casting silence on an arrow. Then Vex swoops by and grabs it before circling back to the yelling drow. Suddenly the room was a lot less noisy.

Lyra stayed up in the hidden hall. With a wave of her hand she created a thick tangle of thorns around all the walls, cutting off easy escape. Casting Wall of Thorns. Leaving an opening for us to pass through from our entry point. Other than that, I'm sealing the perimeter and probably tangling up anyone standing next to a wall. |
