Wasn't this recently changed? I thought XP gain was ability neutral now, with all feats adding to an ability score and certain feats having ability prerequisites (i.e., being an "intelligent" character means doing many "intelligent" things).

I signed up the first day.

Aaaand now I confirmed someone.

Isn't this already partially taken into consideration by Reputation?

It's almost like sitting down at a table with your friends and playing the Pathfinder RPG. You're just doing it online instead.

I'm considering a "white" necromancer for my second character.

As far as insulating mechanics are concerned, I doubt I'll ever use the bounty system. I'm just not a vengeful/retributive person. I fully understand that participating means consenting to getting killed by other players. Good, I've just helped somebody else have fun. Our characters aren't real and they can't be permanently taken away (barring a glitch or inappropriate behavior). I sometimes wonder if there's been too much talk of griefing because we're still in a new player recruitment phase.

Could alignment be a skill?

I'm trying to experience the following:

"My therapist 'broke up' with me. There's a gnome warlock in my living room..."

I want my first character to be a sorcerer focusing on fire magic (i.e., fire elemental bloodline). I'll make him a half-orc when that race becomes available. He's going to be on the research/support side of things (instead of combat).

A reminder, abilities in PFO only determine training time of skills. I don't believe there has been much discussion of racial traits as of yet.

Does this also relate to whether murder is against the law? From Ryan's clarification post on page 1, it almost sounded like settlements/kingdoms could set their own rules. Are there any plans to allow player-created laws? Would you be able to select which laws your settlement/kingdom had in place? Would these laws be posted somewhere when you went into a town? Also, if nobody controls the wilderness, does that mean the same as not having a law against murder?

So many wonderful questions.

Not all ideas are gems, but they'll never be worth anything if you don't have them appraised.

Or we could just go with the wave-particle duality suggestion.

But maybe I had two different ideas that accidentally got mashed together.
1) A mechanic that prevented PVP, if mutually agreed upon (i.e., locking out attacks against the agreeing participants / removing the ammunition from the gun).
2) A standard practice of signing a non-aggression contract that could be legally binding (or a gentlemen's agreement).

My noodles may not be entirely cooked, so let's see if they stick. Plus, I wanted to add at least 2 metaphors to this discussion.

I'm just trying to think outside the box. Sometimes a problem has to be approached from a fresh perspective, so I offered a suggestion that flipped the concept on its head.

I believe Ryan has already laid out PFO's definition of griefing. Everyone here is working with that.

It would be a game mechanic that prevented PVP by locking out attacks, a type of contract that could flag you as a criminal in lawful areas.

What about a faster/shorter refresh time for sorcerer spells?

Also, if slots 7-10 are for refresh abilities, that could mean slots 1-6 will be for weapons and bloodline/domain/school powers.

As to the original idea of a challenge mechanic, what about the opposite? A non-aggression mechanic that prevents either side from attacking the other after they acknowledge each other at some predefined distance.

The settlement penalties make sense to me. The chaotic alignment should interfere with social organization (i.e., following rules).

Dark Archive Goblin Squad Member

My cleric worships the phoenix.

@demonman24

I believe chaotic, not evil, settlements won't be able to get their act together. As in, if everyone in a society wants to follow their own rules, they don't really work all that well together and simply aren't as efficient/coordinated. It's kind of a logic thing.

I'd like to know if the sorcerer bloodlines will be limited to those in the PF core rulebook. I've always wanted a phoenix bloodline, but that could easily be approximated by the fire elemental bloodline (though it wouldn't have any healing magic).

Will object-sounding names be accepted?

"Codex" just popped into my head as an example.
