Two questions!
Any chance of the Zodiac getting the same treatment, and where would the best place to send in things like a typo report?

Hello! We would love to do Zodiac and the rest of the Akashic Classes from City of 7 Seraphs. A lot will depend on Wizards of the Coast and the OGL Licensing issues facing the community. Hopefully they will come to their senses and we can continue or provide another option.

I was anticipating Akashic getting it's own sphere. Like bear, blood, and mana have before it but that it would revolve around Akashic powers. I thought maybe we'd get a medium caster, with some veil shaping but with veils that changed your magic and magic that changed your veils. I mean a sphere that gave you 1 temporary point of essence (maybe for caster / level rounds) wouldn't be that far out of left field, would it? Or one that allowed super charging a veil with spell points? Maybe a legendary talent that wove a veil for you (or a target), even if you weren't technically capable of weaving it... I'd even dared hope it would come with a race that wasn't (and forgive me for saying this about DSP, I love most of their work, I really do) completely and utterly terrible looking, that had innate essence.

Guess the Azurin can still be a thing........

The book actually has both. The archetypes use a veilweaving sphere and then the base class has sphereshaping veils. It probably should have been two separate releases but Pandemic-Era strains made more sense to release both subsets together.

We have been investigating various print options. At the time, our ideal solution isn't feasible but due to demand we will be moving forward with key titles on a POD basis shortly.

I have some trouble imagining how the Radia and Occlusion look like. Is the city in a bubble, with Occlusion forming the sides and Radia the top?

Not as much trouble as you think because that is essentially exactly correct. The "bubble" flexes and pulses though perhaps more subtly than the Radia's light above. A playtester described it as "fishbowl of the Occlusion" shot through from above by the light of the Radia above and the Lattice "roads" at widest points of the "dome". We asked a few artists to try a visualization but the effort proved very hard to convey the right look.

To adventurers traveling the Shadow Plane from outside the city it most often presents as a massive sphere or dome (if on the Lattice) with a shaft of shimmering multicolored light raising high above it. Some claim that beyond the light of the Radia they can see the silhouettes of massive branches or roots.

Once inside the darkness of the Occlusion, the inner surface of the dome seems to shift from darkness at eye-level in the Farring, moving through overlaid night skies, and drawing at last toward a mounting aurora of colors which brightens in the City's center.

Maybe you can add a message to backers, an advertisement for other products, or something else there without really changing the printing costs. ^^)

Thanks for this call out. We will see what can be done. If you have any other notes please send them to: herowithin@lostspherespublishing.com so we can take action before we run out of time for the final print file.

So... Ceptu. Pg323. This is off-the-map in terms of original and different, but does lead to a couple questions. If there's somewhere better I should be taking these questions, please let me know.

It doesn't actually say that telekinetic fighting uses the range of minor telekinetics but that seems the only thing that makes sense.

There's also no guidance regarding moving a controlled weapon. Can a Ceptu simply relocate a weapon from anywhere in their range to anywhere in their range, and if so is this an action or free?

It would also be useful to have clarity regarding positional implications of such a weapon. Does the weapon occupy a full square? Can anyone else occupy that square? Does the weapon provide flanking (in which case amusingly the Ceptu can be their own flanking partner due to their sting)? Hello Ceptu rogue!

What happens if a weapon is relocated (by the Ceptu) in terms of provoking attacks of opportunity? I imagine they'd be subject to Sunder attempts frequently if so.

What happens if the Ceptu is moved out of the range of their weapons, for instance by a Bull Rush maneuver?

Does the Ceptu need line-of-sight or line-of-effect to control their weapons. Despite hovering, a nice create pit is all that required to disarm a Ceptu, depending on the answer.

Speaking of which, presumably the weapon itself threatens for purposes of AoO? Meaning that if someone moves away from the weapon, the Ceptu can then use it to make an AoO on that someone?

How does it work when a Ceptu wields a shield? If it's in the Ceptu's square, that seems obvious. But what if it's not? Does the Ceptu still get its shield bonus to AC? It seems they shouldn't, but who knows since this is such an odd species.

There are probably dozen other questions that I haven't thought of yet, but I figure these alone add a half-page of rules legalese.

Anguish, thanks for you questions! The Ceptu are one of two reprient OGL races we used for the setting and originally came from Oathbound 7 from Epidemic Books. As OGL content we tried to maintain their original wording as much as possible for mechanical abilities but your questions certainly have merit!

We recommend the following:

* Ceptu Telekinetics generally should be close range supernatural abilities determined by HD.
* Effects that disrupt line-of-effect or range (such as Bull Rush or the pit spell and yes it can make them easier to disarm than many creatures)
* Generally the weapon should be considered to be wielded as though the Ceptu was in the square in question and so can provide flanks and the like.
* Re-positioning weapons should take a move action in range per weapon, this will reduce the action economy of rogues etc. and result in a more balanced trade off for self-flanks etc.
* The can still be sundered and otherwise are immune to targeting effects.
* Weapon squares should be considered occupied but we recommend that creatures substantially larger than the weapon (at least one size category larger than the Ceptu) don't stop the weapon from moving through their squares nor are hindered by it.

Hopefully this helps.

If you just recently ordered through Backerkit there's typically a delay of up to a week or so before the rewards are sent out.
Kickstarter at the book and PDF level.

These classes and veils will be in the City of 7 Seraphs campaign setting, but serve as an early release for anyone who wants to start playing with the classes right away, or who might be more focused on the akashic player options over the broader and more complete book.
If I buy this, and like it so much that I want to buy the whole City of 7 Seraphs setting, can I get a discount on the setting? :-)

We have been able to work this out for DriveThruRPG/RPGNow but not here yet. You can also back us on backe kit for the setting and get a free download code for Akashic Trinity on DriveThru.

Where are you getting that? I suspect the name prodigy has been used elsewhere and I am not aware of any spheres of power/spheres of might crossover material in 7 Seraphs. As the author of the prodigy you mention, I have not heard anything to that effect, nor would I expect to since the book it is in doesn't have a form release schedule yet. It would be unusual to support an unreleased product.

Thanks for your answer.

-Skeld

Skeld,

Having GM'd for decades with very, very little prep we can totally sympathize with a lack time. That said, the design philosophy behind the project is meant to facilitate GM's job and make adventures practically write themselves. We took the City to IronGM at Gen Con were able to script the scenario in 20 minutes with virtually no effort from 3 totally random elements. Every part of the City is engineered to be the GMs ally. Shadow travel allows events to move at the speed of story. Each organization and District will have suggestions for scripting engaging planar adventures, there will be a chapter of running the game in planar situations and new monsters that will suggest usages. Our blog also will continue to offer adventure planning advice. I believe you would be more than capable of taking full advantage of the product. But please feel free to ask any follow-up questions or concerns.

Regardless of your decision, we appreciate your interest in the project.

Skeld wrote:

Is this an adventure or a setting?

-Skeld

The City of Seven Seraphs is a planar setting sourcebook. The City is a capstone piece that can be laid on top of any existing campaign with minimal GM effort--it is literally hiding behind the shadows of most worlds. We intend to expand the planar adventure options of ANY existing campaign but the book can also be used as a setting for its own campaigns. The product supports play at any level and allows low-level parties to access the planes. The book is being developed with an eye to facilitate GM storytelling and to add exciting new player options.

We do have the outline of a full planar module arc (like a Pathfinder RPG Adventure Path) set up that will go from 1-20, with notes on how to incorporate homebrew or other published settings like Paizo's core campaign setting or 3pp campaign settings like Midgard (Kobold Press) or Rhune (Storm Bunny Studios). This series would go into production after the main book's Kickstarter campaign is successfully funded. We intend to make it plausible to have characters move from setting to setting and have it support GMs stories instead of seeming random or forced. Or to tell "superteam" style stories with players from a handful of worlds coming together.

More info on our blog, facebook and the kickstarter campaign page.

Where do the 8 Lattices terminate? Do they end at Gatetowns or Portals?

Hellbilly - The Eight branches of the Lattice that connect (or emerge?) from the City of Seven Seraphs are part of a much larger planar "highway system" thought by some to be the Shadow of Yggdrasil (others would argue that it is Bifrost's Shadow-planar analogue.) As such the Lattice connects naturally to countless places through out the Prime Worlds and the rest of the Planes.

Many magic-using cultures also have artificially created "Portal Plazas" which serve as hubs to connect the Worlds of the Lattice to the City and one another. The largest of Portal Plazas develop their own towns, villages and encampments. The Warden's maintain maps of a large portions of the Lattice but many worlds traffic with the City regularly.

More information on the Lattice and to use it in your own games is here.

More information on the sites, cities and worlds linked to the Lattice will be in the "Worlds of the Lattice" section of the book.

Weird question in Sigil the city is kept safe due to nature of the city and the Lady of Pain, how is this city protected from Demonic/Angelic Armies and Gods etc?

Excellent Question!

The Radia's energies increase the instability of the Shadow Plane's native quasi-reality outside the influence of the Seraph's Ring. Beyond the area of the City known as the Nearing, it begins to experience increasingly greater anomalies. Warden's patrol to maintain habitable circumstances and magically reinforce the stability of the City in these areas.

At the extreme threshold of the Seraph's protective aura there exists a churning roil of rapidly shifting reality that is incredibly dangerous to any sentient being, natives call it the Faring. It manifests much like a miles-high inky stormbank walling in the City from the edge of the Radia's destabilization. Creatures entering the zone in small numbers are torn apart by their own unconscious thoughts made real or their own existence becomes dissolved into meaningless abstractions. Large groups in telepathic links can sometimes stabilize the Faring enough to travel it, as long as they can remain in common purpose.

The only way past these areas are the eight Lattice branches that enter the City. These massive roads are surrounded by enormous walls staffed by the Wardens and the Ashborn Parity. Those walls divide the City into its named Districts. Small controlled plazas exist to facilitate travel throughout the City and to manage variant shadow walk speeds, accelerated or decelerated by the Lattice to prevent collision or other incidents.

This is an amazing reward. She is very very VERY cool! But I must ask. Is she wearing a funny hat?

We had hoped not to address this so publicly but she is very sensitive about her helmet. The only thing she is more touchy about is her spinneret gown...

In all honesty we asked Vincent to portray her wearing gear like a normal melee fighter would have, so her abdominal scalemail, leg-blade vambrances and her helmet-crown are all part of that. We like to imagine she won the helmet in a gladiatorial pit lending to its "Queen of the Ring" look.

Since Nature Channel is a thing...

The female is likely notably lager, at least one size category, if not more. The males wander, the females keep to their webs. Going the way of intelligence, I suspect the females are the source of long term stratagems, and the males are the gatherers. The males go out and bring back things to give them social/reproductive status. I rather doubt the males really know that much about what the females goals are, nor do they care overmuch.

Daw, we too are found of the Nature Channel. And yes, the females are a size category larger than the males. Their stat array is more suited to melee combat than their male counterparts. These creatures are related to the chelicerae (from the Midgard Bestiary) and aranea and as such they have an unusual relationship with spellcasters. This relationship is different for each of the biologies of the race.

As new generations are born under the Radia, the emergence of a reverse dimorphism has resulted in small females and medium males, Steamwalkers and Chrysalis Covenant members attribute this to the Duality charged magic of the area. This new mutation are often with a pale coloration nearing that of bone. This mutation is still very rare but seems to breed true within the City.

Yes, the Orrery Drives of the Foreseen Parity catalyze supernatural energy that can be drawn from spell energy, psychic power pools, and failing all else, the lifeforce of the user. The Coinspinner has... additional movement aids that aren't exactly as clear in nature. The Temple of Coin salvaged it from the Undreamt after all...

While the City is quite cosmopolitan there are races with slightly greater representation. The City's original settlers, the fade (a population of fetchlings), are in decline at the time presented in the book. There are large populations of planetouched, shadow fey (see Kobold Press' Advanced Race Compendium), judow (see our blog for this), revenants, Endzeitgeist's mystery race (which is looking wicked cool), and well a few things we have perhaps still hiding behind Shadow Lock puzzles for the backers to solve. Seraphs (shouldn't the plural be Seraphim?) would suggest a Celestial influence wouldn't it?

Hard to say, since it doesn't really exist as a concept in regular Pathfinder...well, Szuriel is called the Seraph of Destruction, but she's a Horseman of the Apocalypse...but I doubt it's related. So could be almost anything depending on how they define the term.

Also, I believe seraphs is as legitimate a plural form as seraphim.

We elected to use Seraphs because each of the Seraph statues are unique. They stand as equals but are in themselves balances of specific Duality and symbols of Unity. In the numerology of the City the number Six represents Union, a effort by two triads of Power (the numerological assign of Three) brought together. Each Seraph has six wings to symbolize this. The origins of the morphology of the statues are also likely rooted in the deep-seated resentment of the City's Eternals (divine ascendants) toward the Divinities' (classical fantasy RPG Gods) appropriation of a more ancient divine physiology. Without threatening core mysteries of the City, that's as far as we're willing to go right now on the subject.

Mangaholic13, as that this is our first Work-in-Progress, people may have a difficult time answering this question as of yet. But we thought perhaps we could give you a status up date to help you make the decision on whether or not purchase at this time is right for you.

The WIP stands currently at 3 pdf releases. The mythic paths for Herald and Wielder both of which add to the body of the paths we introduced in our 2014 release mythic paths.

The Spells of Boon and Burden initial release is also available in its initial release and adds spell options for psychic casters to make them specialists in two new magical focuses in addition to the roles already available in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Occult Adventures book. A small number of equivalence spells allows psychics to manage conditions and grants unique control options to classes like mesmer. The product adds over 100 spell options to psychic casters.

The page count for the next release (Originally called Psychic Paths, now named Liminal Power) has doubled from its initial projection and includes dozens of new feats, several prestige classes and some of the first rules for reconciling psionic and psychic multiclass characters. We are targeting initial release for April for this pdf.

The fifth and final pdf includes new psionic powers for planar interactions and multiclass characters. We are targeting early summer for that release.

A final compilation file will be released after that with any errata and end user feedback we have encountered worked in. Individual files will also be updated at that time.

At current we are committed to 100% original artwork and unfortunately this drives our costs up substantially and slows down releases.

We hope this helps with any decision you need to make and appreciate your interest.

The weird and wonderful thing about OGL and 3pp stuff in general is that if one 3pp developer doesn't choose to support something another still might. Your specific inquiry is actually an example of exactly this. Lizardfolk as expanded in the ARC from Kobold (Which is an AMAZING book!) is actually also an expansion off of the Lizardfolk introduced in the ARG from the core pathfinder system and despite neither Paizo or Kobold presenting options for Aegis (as that they didn't create it) or Dreamscarred Press (which didn't expand racial favored classes for all ARG races), it was possible due to the OGL for another third party publisher to pick up the ball.

John Brazer Enterprises did exactly that.

If more 3pp keep working in this integumentary manner, the entire system will continue to support even more growth. It is an amazing thing and we are glad to be a part of it!

Ready or stay mobile generally. Readied attacks with a reach weapon are great discouraging people from closing on your while you work your mojo. If you need to be more "effective" consider ranking UMD and using wands/scrolls/etc to working off roles like support healing or damaging. Otherwise range attacks, aid another or even going full defensive are good options.

We put some thought into it, hope it helps:
