I don't want to derail KSF's question so I'll be brief.
I just want to give everyone an update. My mother passed away about an hour ago. She slipped into a coma because he liver failed. She was at peace when she passed. I never called her and I wouldn't have talked about myself even if I had decided to. I am saddened that she died, but I also am glad that she's finally at peace. I don't know if she would have accepted me or not. I don't really care either way. I have had a while to think about it and I am just happy that she is no longer in pain. Her life started off horrible and barely improved.
Please, don't forget to answer KSF's questions! I wish I had answers, but I don't.
My condolences, I am glad she died in peace. That is this best you can hope for.
On a different topic, My mother is dying. I suspect it will be this week. I haven't spoken to her in a very long time. The last time I saw her was in 2007. She doesn't know about this part of me. I'm going to call her in an hour or so. I'm debating if I should come out to her. I figure that if I do call her then I might as well tell her. Do you think I should?
There is a long history of rejection from her. I don't know if I want to go through it again.
I don't know. It may be better to simply say goodbye than to risk rejection again. But I know how important this part of you is to you, and have seen your development over several dozen posts, some of them painful, a lot of them scared. If there is someone to inform, it may indeed be her, but you need to be ready for rejection.
I sympathize in the situation your in, Bob. I lost my mom a few years back, and It is hard when your are there watching them dying, but when you are estranged, I would think it is harder. I think in your situation, I agree with Freehold DM, and say your goodbye and tell her your happy. I know your leaving out a major part of your life, but what you said about her, that would be the best for you.
And worse, did you hear about the Texas governor Quoting the new testament, basically saying the victims of the nightclub deserve it. The sickness in some people.I hope that no one on this tread, or any of their families were hurt or killed. R.I.P. all the victims, and a speedy recovery to the injured. Let us on this thread have a moment of silence to honor the victims.
I didn't have it where my character died, but I did have were another character saved my character's life, but in doing so, changed my alignment from LG to LE. I plotted against another who been a thorn in my side the whole campaign. Luckily the alignment changed back before that was done.
Well, they do have a Time Master on board. Pulling Sara out of the time stream before she was killed would cause continuity problems, but she could be dug up only hours after being buried. The question then becomes, does the Lazarus Pit work after you've been embalmed?
Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16
I know it wasn't a criticism. Don't forget, for Raven it was a weird day. Raven wouldn't use his powers on any he is trying to be friends with. He is social, so he means it when he tells someone he would like to be his friend.
Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16
That is the trouble when everyone, except me, are playing paranoid characters. That is not a criticism. I have played characters that are more paranoid, and for good reason. When Raven is off the the stage, he is not trying to be flashy. He would dress down, but of course, that won't stop the attention, since he is basically a nova incubus. He really was trying make a friend with James, because as he said, boredom is dangerous to him. Plus, he is alone, one night stands are one thing, friendship is another. He he is a social character, and could be the public face for the group.
We lost another legend. I was lucky to see Bowie twice. Once just after he stopped playing Ziggy Stardust, the other time was the Glass Spider tour. I loved his music, and Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is one of my favorite LP's of all time. He will be missed, but his music will live on forever. R.I.P. David (Jones) Bowie Be at peace with no more pain.
Technically a CR 1/2 zombie has a Knowledge DC of 10, and therefore information about it (such as its damage resistance) is considered common knowledge and is something adventurers know without a check. This doesn't apply if the character has an Int less than 10 (which being a Wild Child Druid may have been the case for Missingno's character) and is a rule that a lot of people aren't familiar with (I know I've had to explain to PFS GM's that yes, my Geokineticist just automatically knows that she needs...
In the current game I am in now, the DM requires you to have the right knowledge skills. The reason is that we're in a world that humans have had very little contact with anything else. At this point, we are some of the highest level people on the continent (12th level). Our party is learning these things as we face them, and at the current time, we are traveling other planes. Once one of us makes the roll, we can tell the others. So over time we are learning what creatures are and what their strengths and weaknesses are. The Dm also allows certain info to be known, depending on your class.
Most of our characters are young, and on their first real adventure. If we didn't make mistakes, that would be bad role playing. We have all sorts of alignments, and our DM charts alignments. So we at times, will do things because it is in character, and in alignment.
The reason Shadowrun is based on a cyberpunk world is that society is getting to be way too close to that. The complaint that Shadowrun is a weak copy of Cyberpunk is wrong, because that is like saying that all the writers of cyberpunk stories and books are copying each other. Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction. Shadowrun is in the sungenre of urban fantasy. I love the world of Shadoerun and I have run a game. The critics are looking at the simularities instead of the differences and then calling the game weak.

3 successes vs 3 successes, win goes to the PC with a relevant mega-attribute (none here) or more dice to roll. Brad wins; he is a sneaky dude.
The guy who went into the bathroom came back out a reasonable amount of time later and left. Neither Raven nor Steve noticed anything out of the ordinary about him.
Brad was soon on the sidewalk. He didn't think anyone had taken any particular notice of him, but if they were really good he wouldn't have. Anyway, if they were really good they would have teammates outside and wouldn't immediately jump up and follow him out of the restaurant.
May I try to detect his emotions? The roll is Empathic Manipulation + Perception vs. Willpower (no quantum points spent).

Just wanted to say I'm still here, but kinda failing to find a good way to segway into the action. And there's only that much Smalltalk you can do with someone you don't know. ;)
Bad news from Houston. The HERO ordinance, which would have guaranteed a bunch of LGBT protections, was defeated on Tuesday, largely due to fear-mongering over trans people in bathrooms.
Visiting family in Houston in a few weeks. Really disappointed.
And here in Wisconsin, proposed legislation in targeting trans high school students.
Oy.
I saw on Yahoo a great quote from a transgender woman that she made to the Houston voters: "Do you really want me to use the same restroom as your husband?"
Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16
I understand what your saying, but to me it is the difference between reading and acting. I love reading, but what I feel we do in a rpg is more like acting. We are playing a character. and trying to express their current thoughts, actions, and emotions. I need first person present to fit that. I will use past tense when relating something that happened before.
Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16
I prefer first person also. I'm describing his actions as he is doing them. As for tense, I prefer present tense, because again I'm describing it as he is doing it. I walk out instead of the other ways you mentioned. This helps me stay in character, since these are his thoughts and actions that I'm describing. if I step of character for some reason, I will use the ooc type.
hmmmm... I'd kinda pictured him as barely eking by? Maybe Dee has medical issues, and that's where all of his money's going? I know, I know, it's SO *that* plot, but eh, cliches are that way for a reason, right? Let's say he's able to make it with a crappy apartment. It's not a tenement but it's definitely not a "good" apartment.
He's gotta make a move somewhere, but he doesn't know where to go. Keeping a low profile is good since it keeps Dee out of the limelight, but when you're a giant man-mountain of muscle with buns of literal steel... it's hard to hide for too long.
Single dad with a daughter with medical issues so severe they take most of a (relatively badly paid, but still) nova's salary? Who watches her during the day? Who's going to watch her when he's out hanging out with Steven/Raven/whoever and punching out bad guys? Does she require round the clock nursing? Does she go to school? I'm not a huge fan of sick kids as a plot device; let's talk this out a little bit.
Maybe we could start here- how old of a daughter are we talking about? Leaving a 12 year old at home alone at night is different from leaving a 4 year old.
You are right about the Quantum Pool and I will fix that. I do not have a aberration, because you do not get one until you have a taint of 3. (pg 143 under the node background.) I guess I could Lower the Quantum to a 3.
LA is fine, because your right, he wouldn't be anywhere where they could find him easily. The reason he decided Tulsa after the dart, is that it more low profile for him, but close enough to a big city to play in (in all ways).
Raven has no contact with his family. They are ultra right wing Christians, and hate his lifestyle. If they found out he is a nova, they would go ballistic, and attempt to drive the devil out of him. He has both parents and 5 sisters.
Cool. Does he have a girlfriend?
Does Connor, the agent, travel with the band? How does he feel about Raven leaving the group or does he not know yet? Is Connor the one who usually handles the money?
Where is the band staying in Tulsa? Don't have to be specific, but where on the spectrum of rundown motel to nicest hotel in Tulsa are they staying? Looking at Resources 3 leads me to believe they're not spending thousands of dollars a night on accommodations.
No girlfriend lots of lovers.
No he does not travel with the band, but he does set up the bookings. He doesn't no yet about the breakup, but knew there was friction. He handles the money, but pretty much takes his cut, and then pays us our cut. It would either be a good motel or a lower end hotel. I figure the part with his family might add some plot to the campaign. He is 25.
Steve "Sticks" James
He tends to be as aggressive in life as in drumming. He was born in LA.
Doug "Axeman" Adams
He lives the R&R life to the fullest. He grew up an orphan in Nashville, but hates country music.
Carlton "Shadow" Smythe
He is the bass player. He grew up in London, but now lives in LA. He is one of those bass players who stands in the back, in front of the amps the whole time he is playing. He had the most success with the woman, and the most jealous after Raven's eruption.
Michael Connor
The agent of the group (The Unkindness) He is one of those that the quieter he gets the more dangerous he is. He grew up in the Bronx, but now lives in LA.
Raven has no contact with his family. They are ultra right wing Christians, and hate his lifestyle. If they found out he is a nova, they would go ballistic, and attempt to drive the devil out of him. He has both parents and 5 sisters.
He took a dart, and threw it at a map of the US. He did it that way just to have a last laugh at the rest of the band.He really doesn't care where he takes his break, as long as it is different from what he is use to. He is a bit chaotic that way.
Is this thread still recruiting? I'm not familiar with this particular system but it sounds really interesting. Let me know if it's worth my while to read up on the rules and put forward a submission, I'm definitely intrigued. I've never played pbp but I'm a pretty fast learner, and I'm keen for the experience!
It is a variant of the Storyteller system of White Wolf (Vampire the Masquerade, etc.)
There is a Player Guide that has new rules and the errata. As far as I know, besides the wrestling book, that is the only one. He has influence of 2, contacts of 2, and resources of 3. So he would have a name for himself. The idea of the band being jealous would make sense. So he has one more show in Tulsa for the fun of it, and at the last minute. He would break up the band at the end of the concert like Bowie did with the Spiders from Mars. He would then want to take a break from life on the road. and stay in Tulsa for a while. He would have met also sorts of people on the road, so he would enjoy being with people who weren't jealous, and not trying to upstage him or use him. Watch out though, if he gets bored.
He is high profile, but the fact he is a nova wouldn't be. When a band is touring, they hire locals. That could one way they meet him. Tulsa could be the last stop on the tour, so he stays for a while. He would party with the locals hired. That could be the start, where it goes from there would be up to the Storyteller.
After the party, he might see Arknight's character being harassed or attacked by the church's members. He would get mad at that, and help. That is when they realize that he is a nova.
His stage name is Raven, and is a singer in a rock band.He was living the rock lifestyle, sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll.He and his band were doing the normal post-concert partying, when in the middle of having sex, his eruption happened. He is a hedonist, who uses his powers to further that. He does use his sex partners, but hates abusers. He also doesn't like people who interfere with his life. He hates all the surveillance that is prevalent today. He is not good, but also not evil.Mess with him, an he will use his powers to destroy their lives. He is a pansexual, so does not care what gender his sex partners are.
I figure that the band travels around touring, so you can place him where ever you need him. He is not a fighter, but if he wants to, he can ruin lives. He has Mega-charisma, Mega-appearance, and Empathic Manipulation. He has a couple other powers, and mega-attributes. His powers are not flashy, but can still have a major affect He would be a good foil for the angelic character, and his complete opposite. He has contacts, influence, and resources which can help the group. He wouldn't understand the reluctant character, because he revels in his powers. There could be some interesting dynamics because of that. So what do think of the idea? I do have him created. Any suggestions?
I have 3 characters I was thinking of. One is a character who is a martial artist who only has mega attributes, dex sta, and cha. He is a musician (guitarist) who is decently well off (resources 3) Ne only has a charisma of 2, but he has mega-charisma of 2. As you see I I wrote him out and just need to write up his background. The other two I was thinking of was a incubus type character with mega attributes and some mental powers, the other is a weather controller.I am going to write them up today. Any of these sound interesting to you?
This sounds interesting. I have played Aberrant, and it is a fun game. I would have to read the rules again, but fun to make a character in it. I will warn you, my work schedule changes day to day, so I would have to post when possible.
What part of what Thomas Jefferson said, do these extremists not understand. This is a paraphrase, but what he said was that the rights of the minority shall not be decided by the direct vote of the majority. It was never a state's rights issue, but an equal rights issue. I am a cisgender, heterosexual male, and I am so glad that SCOTUS ruled the way they did. The dissenters were as bad and as clueless as all the other anti-ssm. Congratulations to everyone on this thread and may this start the end of anti-LGBT discrimination across the country.
