I picked up these files for the owlbears. I might get a few different ones but this is my first purchase.
I mostly check on myminifactory.com or a general google search for stl files. yeggi is a decent place to find files also. I think I want to get some good trolls too, gonna have to start looking for them.

Great reply Scarablob! I really appreciate the list and I will look into getting appropriate miniatures for all those you brought up. especially running the sound of a thousand screams with all unique minis sounds great! when I start printing and painting I will try to remember to post the pics up here. thanks a lot!

hey everyone! so I was wondering what people think of as the best fights or creature reveals in kingmaker. I have access to a 3d printer and intend on printing at least the biggest bad or best shocking reveal (fight wise) and paint them up for my table top. clearly it would be easy enough to print up the end fight from each chapter, but there are other fights throughout the path that would make for great "gotcha" moments as I place a model on the board. so if you don't mind, please let me know your opinions on the best fights. Thanks ahead of time!

I also do not like the generic grid. I was thinking about using the settlement maps from the computer game and using them depending on their placement within the map. each map also changes based on the size of the settlement, adding buildable lots as the town grows, and in differing configurations. for example here is the starting layout for the capital village:
and here is when it is upgraded to a town:
and again to a city:
Generic settlement as a village:
and then as a town:

So my players have captured Giord. so, with the crimes the party tallied against Giord, they are not willing to let him go. they are planning on disguising one of the other players as Giord for the meet up with Maurissa. It's a good plan, so I am eager to see what happens, especially when she realizes what is going on. I was curious if other GMs had their groups try similar tactics and how they resolved the situation. clearly they are going to be out numbered and overpowered if it comes to a fight, and I imagine Maurissa to be mighty angry with them when she figures it out.

thats a fair fix. I love putting my players in moral quandaries when ever possible. so, making them choose what to do, gives them more options, and lets me giggle more. this is exactly what I ended up with: "You will all get the following as a free first level feat. "Watch Training [feat]
That being said you will not be ignoring the -2 penalty for using lethal weapons to deal nonlethal damage. There are several class options, archetype options, spells, feats, and magic items out there that help mitigate this penalty. Find and utilize them as you desire. Remember also, that the last hit that brings the enemy to 0 hp is the one that matters, so if it is a lethal weapon, they die, if a nonlethal weapon they fall unconscious. the decision will be yours on how to handle each situation. Another thing to consider is that the precinct still wants people brought in alive. if you kill the criminal, you will only receive half their loot, as the precinct will take the rest to pay for body disposal and other issues that may arise. However, if the precinct decides that the death was unwarranted, then you will receive nothing in compensation. or worse yet if they believe this was a malicious act."

hey everyone! I am planning on running this adventure path starting this saturday. something about the blanket ignoring of the -2 penalty to use a lethal weapon to cause nonlethal damage has been bugging me. I was just wondering how other people are handling it. below is how I plan on handling it. I may adjust based on if I like some of your ideas. so, all PCs will have their normal gear but will also be issued some nonlethal weapons, either saps, batons, or the like. using their lethal weapons to cause nonlethal works as normal, but they have options now. in some situations they may feel their lives are in danger and switch to their real weapons, and that makes sense to me. but their precinct still wants people brought in alive. if they kill the criminal, they only receive half their loot, as the precinct will take the rest to pay for body disposal and other issues. unless the precinct decides that it was unwarranted, then they will receive nothing in compensation. My hope is that this encourages them to find a nonlethal option without hamstringing them.

howdy, I am here on behalf of my group that is looking for a GM for pathfinder campaign (or up for other systems as well). we have a space to play, and are looking for someone to run on an every other Wednesday schedule, usually from 6pm to 10pm. we have enough players to fill a 4-6 player party depending on the GM's preferences. we are also all over 18 and play in a game club that is 18+. so no worries about kids being all over the place. if you are interested please post here. I will check as frequently as I can. Thanks,

I'd like to see an ap where the bad guys aren't bad guys at all. Perhaps its a good aligned church or outsiders that are working towards some goodly goal that maybe was perverted without their knowledge or something similar. I love to see players squirm when they are faced with moral and ethical dilemmas.

Just because the book is made, doesn't mean it must be used. I don't care for gunslinger, so it doesn't appear in my games. It seems kinda silly to abandon pathfinder because they put out material that appeals to others and not directly to yourself.

hello all, I did some search-fu and saw that the pirate flip map and the ships interior flip maps are a good buy for this AP. are there other maps of ships that are useful or are they all contained in the AP ? if there are other maps out there that I can acquire for ships in this AP I would appreciate any suggestions. thanks

You could start with rise of the runelords anniversary edition. I am running for some friends and it lends to some creepy themes that keep them interested. It has room for much rp and there is a fair bit of wilderness travel and/or exploration. Also, if you want to let the wilderness nuts shine, you could run kingmaker. Very sandboxy and a lot of wilderness exploration. Also plenty of room for rp, especially when the enemy bard comes to town. ;)

"I'm a proponent of the school of "you can *select* it if you sometimes qualify, but you can only *use* it when you actually meet all the requirements."

It is ultimately up to your gm, but this is how I run it now.

Hey guys, Anyone else think it's odd that there isn't a reward from standpoint built into the end of the adventure ? They thwarted a pretty serious threat (if not many) to sandpoint and they get not even a nod in the conclusion. I plan on having something to celebrate the characters in my campaign. Just thought it was odd. If anyone did reward their players, what did you do? Interested to see what others did as I figure out what I am going to do. Thanks,

I have used battle mats for years. I have a large custom RPG table. It is 6'x8' with a 4'x6' raised section for the maps and minis. I just recently picked up a 4'x8' marker board from home depot for 14 dollars and chopped off the extra 2'. So this was an easy solution and cheap. We used it without a grid and we enjoyed it today. I, as gm, did most of the movement for everyone and kept things moving. We enjoy the extra flexibility we get with the more free form nature of this style. Very enjoyable.

Did you draw out the grid on your white board or did you get it that way ? I would love a simple grid solution for my whiteboard, other than drawing it out by hand. A friend suggested an overhead projector for the grid, but we don't have one.

Anyone use a white board for their minis ? I just got a 6'x4' whiteboard for a table top and was thinking about using it for pathfinder. Converting every 5' increment into 1" on the board and using tape measures or rulers for movement and ranges. I would just need to work on spell templates for cones and such. Just looking for some inspiration. Thanks,

Yes, sorry. I already have a level one cleric, and was planning on staying with cleric, but as I meet the prereqs I figure I will go cleric 3/wiz 1 then MT and maximize my support spells. Obviously I will need to up my int as I level up, but realistically, I only ever need it to be a 16 assuming I make it through all the MT levels and don't take any more wiz levels. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Howdy, I have a group of 4 running ROTRLAE , we just started and are part way through the first adventure. We could use another player in the group. We have a paladin, a cleric, a ranger, and a rogue so far. We play every other Monday (so 2 weeks from today would be the next game). We play in a gaming club, southern new england gaming club, in Swansea Massachusetts. If you are interested and available, or have questions, please pm me. Thanks,

Hey everyone, With the FAQ that let's a SLA meet a prereq for a prestige class, I am thinking for going mystic theurge. I have an aasimar support (buff/debuff/control) cleric of abadar with a 12 int, 18 wis, and 18 cha. I would probably benefit more from a level in sorcerer because of my charisma, but I love the wizard's versatility (though I could be convinced to go sorc). In time I will bring up my int so I can cast higher level spells, but for now I know my DCs will be crap. I was thinking either illusionist or conjurer. Though I will only be taking 1 level in this so the schools aren't that big a deal. I will however need buff spells and spells that won't require a save as my DC will be abysmal. I would appreciate any advice or thoughts on this that the community may offer. Thanks,

I posted this in error in the ROTRL forum previously. Would we be able to get a sub forum for the anniversary edition ? It can sometimes be confusing as to which version people refer to in their posts as some people still use the 3.5 version. Just curious. Thanks

mysterious stranger wrote: The thing people are forgetting is this is not about whether Buddhism is a religion. It is about whether a Monk(Martial Artist) is a religious character. No, the thing people are forgetting is that in our game, monks are religious (archetypes be damned, they are just flavor enhancers). There is no debate here over what should be allowed. The following classes were selected by the DM for initial character creation. After first level we can delve into any class we want. Cleric
Druids were actually allowed but I forgot to mention it in the above posts. And rangers would have been allowed if we chose a god more opt to have rangers as their holy warriors and would have removed paladins from the mix. The cavalier was allowed in the group because of his back story and because he sold the reason well to the DM. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I started with the idea of playing an inquisitor, but something didn't sit right. I then made a monk (martial artist), which feels better to me, but I am still unsure. I think the monk will be fine, but I just don't want to start the character and then feel that I am playing the wrong character. Monks, IMO, follow a philosophy or religion. It is from this dedication that they can attain their abilities. In this case it is following the tenets of abadar.

Hey guys, Been running several ideas in my head for a shattered star campaign coming up. We decided to limit ourselves to religious classes (save one member with a decent story for why he isn't). Only restriction is that we must start as a religious class, but can swap into something else at later levels. So far we have the following: Oracle (earth or stone mystery, who will be taking the long road to mystic the urge with sorcerer levels)
And then me. I initially thought of an inquisitor, but then decided to go for a monk (martial artist). But I just wanted to get some opinions. We all worship abadar also. Rolled stats are
Thanks guys.

My group uses the crit fumble deck. When you roll a Nat 1 you roll again with the same bonuses and if you miss the targets AC you confirm your crit fumble and draw from the deck. They happen less frequently, but it usually sucks when it does happen. And we all laugh. We do not use the crit hit deck though.

I had a similar thought but went at it a little differently. here is what I did: based on tax level this is how much the kingdom taxes magic item sales (numbers are in BPs): based on taxes: Minor/Medium/Major
this has worked out great without breaking my economy.
