Lipp raises his tankard into the air to praise their friend. "For Nakitu!" he cries with the others. Seeing Khel start to choke, he quickly jumps up on the chair beside him and delivers a loud clap to the center of his back. "Take it easy, friend! Save the fight for the goblins, not the sausages!" He joked, trying to regain his normally enthusiastic disposition.

Lipp joins Khel and Louise at the cemetary, taking a moment to say a short prayer. "May the Everlight see you home..." When they reach the Dragon, Lipp finds their companions already seated, and joins them while Louise delivers the tough news to Ameiko. With a wave, he orders a full pint of their strongest brew.

My preference is for cash or cash equivalents to just be split equally. Dropped items should go to who they serve best, but with also keeping an eye towards trying to keep things even and making sure everyone gets stuff at some point or another. Perhaps have folks chip in for communal purchased items eventually, like CLW wands and the like. But, I'll go along with whatever folks want regardling loots.

"Thanks again for the hospitality Walthus." he says to their host, forcing a smile. Dealing with the reality of the loss of their friend has put Lipp out of his usual cheery mood. "Whatever you folks think is best, I just don't want to see anyone else die." Lipp says as he prepares to set out on their journey.

It seems I forgot to list it as a bonus feat, but the archetype gets it in exchange for bardic knowledge. So, that means DEX for both attack and damage. His dance also doesn't give anyone else a buff, but gives himself a +2, so when dancing he's at +7 to hit, and 1d4+7, 18-20/x2 as damage. If he hits, he also gets a free intimidate check at +7. He's not a normal bard, that's for sure.

My archetype comes with dervish for free, so Lipp is quite capable in melee right now. Other than the fact that I need a turn to get my dance up, my attacks will rival Lou and Khel easily :) This build is melee plus support / utility casting, basically. I agree though, lack of full arcane will likely make me pick different spells than I might otherwise.

I think a paladin could certainly travel with this sort of character, unless the paladin is witnessing them commit evil acts... short of that, I think it is within the code of most paladins to associate with a person. But there's a bit of wiggle room depending on the type... Khelvor worships Erastil, an old fashioned sort who's not going to bend much on this type of thing. In another game, I play an oath of vengeance paladin of Ragathiel, who might be able to let such things slide a bit further. I think it may be a challenge to play things out and not have it take center stage, but it can be done. I think the character concept can work, but will have to soften to the party sooner than later. re: poison. It's also crazy expensive unless you have ways of crafting it, or getting multiple uses per dose.

Lipp searches his memory for anything he might recall about how to treat the corpse properly. knowledge, religion, untrained: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Lipp seems relieved to see the true owner of the cabin emerge alive. The relief is temporary as his focus turns back to the fallen hero. The halfling steps over to the body and kneels, muttering a prayer under his breath. What have I gotten myself into? That could've easily been me... Taking another moment to contemplate, Lipp rises. Looking down, he speaks to Nakitu's corpse in a hushed voice. "I will tell tales and sing songs of today. I hope we can provide a heroic ending for your story..."

Lipp watches as his new associate crumples to the ground. He draws his scimitar and his feet make a flurry of quick movements that send him spinning with his blade cutting a swath through the air around him. Draw my weapon: move action

Lipp nods as his new companions talk around him. I might be heading back to the Dragon about now, for dinner and then an evening of dancing and jokes. But here I am, and something must be done. "We can't let them attack the town. Even if they aren't successful in the end, people will die." he says to the group, his face suddenly grim.

I didn't think it possible, but I am fantasizing about my cot in the attic of the jewelry store. Dry and secure go a long ways... "Well, if no one else is going to..." Lipp says as he marches up to the door of the shack. He knocks politely and says, "Excuse us... but is anybody home?" the halfling takes a quick step backwards as he waits for a response.

As they proceed into the gloomy marsh, Lipp stops to point out an odd three toed footprint in the mud. Later on, he jumps as a splash frightens him... perhaps he is more on edge than he thought. The prospect of fighting some goblins is becoming more and more real, and the small halfling begins to get nervous.

"All the usual reasons, I'm sure." Lipp replies, not sure how honest he wants to be at this moment. He pauses for a moment, eyes on his feet as he steadily marches along with the group, and then he reconsiders. I am about to trust these people with my life so no sense in holding back. "To tell you the truth, I don't make a lot of money as an entertainer. I do all right, to be sure, but I still need to take on odd jobs around town. Right now, you might've seen playing security guard for the jeweler. Seems odd, huh? A small guard like me? But I can handle myself." he says to Nakitu, patting the hilt of his scimitar at his side. "They give me a place to sleep above the shop, so it's not such a bad gig... but my dream is to be able to focus on my true calling."

Lipp nods at the auburn haired man, "Thank you sir. Indeed, despite my bright hair and flashy clothing, I am entirely a halfling." The bard falls in with the group alongside Khelvor, making sure to keep his distance from the formidable looking woman's horse.

If any of the adventurers had looked back at this point in their newfound quest, they might have seen a very small, and very bright, figure trying his best to catch up with them in a hurry. Lipp had woken late that morning, his mind still fuzzy from last night at the Rusty Dragon. He had spent the evening entertaining a group of patrons in one corner, across the room from Ameiko's party. The young halfling had tried his utmost to make sure his gaze didn't linger on the group, and to focus on the appreciative folks in front of him. After hours of songs and jokes and dancing, he was invited to drink the rest of the night away with his new friends and had done just that. He woke up slowly, and made his way back to the Dragon to see what was left of breakfast. Ameiko informed him of the news of the day... the excitement of the group heading out to claim the bounty on the goblins and even Gutwad himself if they were lucky. Lipp had grown very tired of his day job, standing guard for a local merchant, and so the prospect of making some money at the same time as impressing his fellow bard was not something he could pass up. He quickly cleaned his plate, grabbed a generous chunk of bread and was on his way, thanking Ameiko over his shoulder as he left the tavern. "Hey!" he called to the group as he got closer. He was moving quick for such a small halfling, his legs practically a blur. "Wait up! I've come to help hunt the goblins!" he said as he reached the adventurers. "One... moment..." the halfling heaved, trying to catch his breath, his cheek still full of the last of the bread he had taken for the road. Breath caught and food swallowed, he continued "Ameiko told me about the bounty. I'm here to help!"

Is that with no winter clothing maybe? It should totally be non lethal damage, until you hit 0 and go unconscious, then it would definitely be dealing lethal. If I run outside for a minute in -30 to go flip the steaks (Yes, I still grill in that weather), I don't need healing!

Hey, I don't have a romantic crush! I just look up to her :) Also, sounds like yer awful close to me... winnipeg here. I'm guessing you're either in manitoba or in the rectangle next door. I'll leave the build as is then. I would've been at the Dragon last night, probably performing for the crowds and hoping for some attention from my hero. Woke up late, went for breakfast and then heard about the goblins. I'll be running to catch up at some point when it seems appropriate then.

Hey all, dunebugg has asked me to fill in. Should I adjust this build? I see above that you're melee heavy, and this bard is built for melee and support is secondary. I don't buff others with my performance, but do some casting and what not. I could adjust it to a more standard bard build with group buffs and maybe ranged attacks. I can most likely do this without having to change up the character and story, so let me know what you think :) I'll be reading the gameplay so far, so also let me know how I can jump in. |
