Ok, I'm terribly sorry guys, it's been a rough couple of weeks. I survived with my job, family, marriage, and body intact though and am on vacation and catching up with my PbP games. If it's not too late and you'll still have me I'd like to get back in here.
I'm sorry. This has been a particularly hectic/crazy/stressful week for me and my PbP games have suffered as a result. I'm trying to get caught up on everything. Looking forward to the weekend.
Am I able to purchase a MW Starknife in town? If so I'd like to do that. Otherwise I'm happy with the chain shirt I got.
Despite having never ridden on a wagon before, Lina takes easily to the open road and quickly feels at ease, especially with the assistance of Kilistrine. The soft breeze and warm sun on her face just feel...right. She smiles pleasantly as her eyes stare unseeing into the distance, not even knowing the scenery she's missing.
Lina has no problem healing you during the downtime.
I could probably make use of the chain shirt if nobody else wants it.
Lina feels a lump in her throat Ameiko speaks. Could this be what Desna had in store for me? She speaks nerviously, "I'm no great warrior, but I hope I've been at least a little useful to those much stronger than me. If you'll have me, I'd like to come too."
Lina feels momentarily disappointed that Ameiko wasn't staying at her own inn for the night as she leaves. Unsure where to go from here, she tries her best to flag down one of the serving girls. "Uh, can one of you please show me to my room? I'm not really sure where to go."
I'm fine with you doing as much of the caravan mechanics as you want behind the scenes and then just present us with whatever is relevant or what we need to know. And as long as we get the chance for a bit of RP on occasion, that's enough for me.
After having sat by herself during most of the festivities, just taking in the sounds around her, Lina draws close as they pull out the chest, listening intently as Ameiko describes each one. "What're you gonna do with all these? Didn't you retire from adventuring?"
"What's going on here? Why are there so many people?"
Lina grabs Lui's sleeve and holds it as they approach so she doesn't get lost in the crowd, trying not to bump into anyone in the commotion.
Lina stands there for a moment stunned and mouth open. "I've been calling her Kali the whole time - I thought she liked it..."
Lina heaves a big sigh of relief as she hears they're in sight of the town. "Oh, I'm glad to be back in civilization! I don't mind the travel, but I've never known such danger and fighting! It'll sure feel good to be able to pass a night without having to worry about goblins sneaking up on me in my sleep. Oh, and finally eat a good me..." she catches herself and turns bright red, looking away from Jorland. "Never mind," she mutters quietly.
"For once can this be a shipwreck that isn't full of skeletons that want to kill us?"
Lina shrugs. "I'm not sure how much I'll be able to help if anyone gets hurt, but other than that no objections."
Lina nods in agreement. I'm sorry Kali, that last one took a lot out of me. I think that's all I can do for today."
"Kali! Are you ok?" Lina supports the larger warrior and casts guidance.
Lina gasps as she hears Kalistrine call out in pain and rage, then moves close to heal her.
Lina nods. "I...yeah, I can do that. May Desna guide your weapons."
Lina almost looks relieved, then her face contorts to confused as she remembers some of their recent meals. "Um...hmm. That's not much for comparison. I think I'll just thank Desna for the blindness this time..."
Upon hearing Jorland undress, Lina whispers to Liu, "Should I be glad I can't see what's happening right now?"
Lina is startled by the sudden sounds. "Why can't it just be a pretty cave! Always monsters!"
Luckily it turns out most of the cavern was within the range of her Darkvision, so I think I made it work. I can't tell you how stupid I felt after doing that.
Lina shrugs. "It's strange. I can't see things in the distance at all, but close up I can at least make out shapes - and the funny thing is darkness doesn't seem to affect me at all anymore. I can see the shapes just as well out in the sun as in the dark of night." She blushes slightly. "I've just never been underground before, and all these...hangy things! It's incredible!"
Haha! I was so impressed by the description of the cave that I momentarily forgot that Lina is blind! Oops! Well, I guess now I need to figure out a way to make it make sense.
Lina looks around the cavern in wonder. "Have you ever seen anything so beautiful in your life?"
Lina shakes her head at Jorland. "Nothing we can use, anyway."
"Uh, oh! I think I can do that. Let me see..." She wrinkles her brow as she concentrates hard on the items.
Lina nods. "I think Desna will give me her blessing a few more times."
"Thanks, Kali!" Lina steps back and momentarily grabs Kilistrine's arm for stability.
"More undead! Desna help us all!"
"You're poisoned? Um...let me see what I can do."
She examines the wound briefly but steps back after a moment. "I'm sorry, I guess I'm not much good with poisons."
"Kali - are you ok? Is anyone else hurt?"
Lina gasps as the huge spider charges and gores Kalistrine. "Kali!" She moves behind her and says a brief prayer. "Desna's blessing make you whole!"
Lina looks around nervously, waiting to be able to spot this huge spider.
Lina whispers nervously, "Uh...what beast?"
"I think so..." she reaches out to touch Jorland's morningstar. "The Traveller light your way." As his weapon flares brightly, she looks curiously at him. "Uh...did that work?"
"I have nothing to fear from the night now - I see just as well in the darkness as I do at noon...that is to say not very well."
Lina shrugs. "This place gives me the creeps. I'd rather not stay longer than we have to."
Lina stops for a moment to attend to Takeshi's wounds.
Lina is breathing heavily and looks at once horrified and astounded. "Hold on! We were just attacked by living skeletons and we're just going to go on in there?!? You're all ok with that?" As everyone continues in to investigate she shakes her head and tries her best to keep up. "Well, at least tell me if anyone's still hurt?"
Lina tries casting once more. "Desna, please protect my friends."
Lina steps back from the skeleton to help Liu Na. "Hang in there!"
Lina shrieks as these undead creatures approach, but after dodging the attack slashes back at the skeleton in front of her. "All I've got is my starknife!"
Despite her seasickness, she notices something on the wrecked ship and points at it weakly. "It looks like there's a nameplate or something there but I can't quite make it out. What does it say?"
Lina steps up to the grave and clears her throat. "I...I am not a cleric or priestess, and have no religious schooling. But something happened to me recently that changed my life forever. For whatever reason, Desna spoke to me and made me her servant. I've begun to see the good She does in this world, and realize that I was mistaken about a great many things in my youth and ignorance. I can't deny that the gods are real, and that they are alive and working in this world. Desna is a force for good, and may She bear Megus' spirit across the heavens to her final rest." She bows briefly before stepping back to join the group.
With a lump in her throat, Lina nods affirmative. Rites? I don't know anything about rites... Still, she helps the best she can and offers a brief prayer to Desna in the old woman's behalf
Lina makes a sour face. "I have no idea what it's saying but I don't like it."
