Lenrelle was revolted, and moved forward again. She wanted this thing destroyed, but she was no fool. She wasn't meant for close fighting against a thing like THIS. Stride So rather than close further, she prayed softly, "Sarenrae, guide my aim" Action 2, Guidance on Self for a plus one to attack Then she swung her sling and cut loose. To hit (Guidance included): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Level 3! Let's see, for Lenrelle Big news is that thanks to Doctrine 2, Fortitude Saves go to expert, and I'll be taking Medicine up to expert as well (Assurance now well worth it) General Feat will be Incredible Initiative which will boost her initiative by 2 She can access prepared spells of the second level, since Sable has Dispel Magic covered, I'll probably go with Restoration and possibly Warrior's regret (since it sounds neat) but of course she can switch it up at prayer times ;) Will have the profile changed hopefully shortly.

Lenrelle casts a light spell on the hilt of her scimitar as they walk, the best to scatter shadows and prevent unpleasant... surprises from sneaking on them. A part of her hopes it also symbolically helps folks find a bit of confidence

At this, Lenrelle quiets down and let's her Shelynite friend handle it. Her goddess is about honesty and she's reluctant to lie, and yet at the same time, her goddess encourages healing and redemption and this may give valuable clues on how the man might find both.

Lenrelle gives Sable a pat on her hand, meant in friendship "My own normally chipper nature has taken a beating of late. It IS very frustrating. I'll go talk to him." A look to Talindra "Want to join me in the attempt?"

Lenrelle ordered the stew as well , no need for the extra spice, with a slightly fermented juice. She makes a note of the crowds and takes a liking to the place.

"A Tavern isn't a bad idea for another reason" Lenrelle considers "It occurs to me that many professions have their favorite watering holes. Maybe there is a tavern or feasthall that favors artists and other creative types and is popular with them?" Korvosa Lore +5 tell her of one?

Understood, DM. Lenrelle may have read too much into the high priestess' actions but she's going with the theory that the Church of Shelyn thinks the Queen is ...well, evil :) Hence the Edit to respond to share that view with Sable and the others. Should be interesting
Female Human Cleric (Cloistered) - 3 (HP 35/35) (Hero Point Spent) (Hero P gained)
Lenrelle listens, "I Serve a goddess who asks honesty of her priests, but I think she will forgive me if I don't go screaming my truths to the rooftops. And I do understand you and this church are in a precarious situation. We'll look for this woman, of course, and thank you for considering our words with care." She nods.
Quote: "I will make every effort to get to her and bring her back safely. I am not so skilled at locating her discreetly. But, at least I know magicians and holy ones who can help in that respect. We should begin immediately, as she seems in peril at this very moment!!" Lenrelle nods to Billi, "You cut to the core of it. It could be happening now so we should make haste." *********
Lenrelle looks at the hair with surprise but...well, it's Sable's head. Then she listens. Sable has a lot to say "Clearly you kept a lot bottled in inside there, Sable. And I share a lot of your frustration. I agree what they say is vague and dubious. But we did learn something of import. The Shelynites don't trust the queen either. When I asked about if someone higher up was putting this girl out as a sacrifice, the high priestess evaded the question on if they suspect anyone all, but the Mob, faceless and many was mentioned, the ONLY individual they mentioned was the queen. They think she's perfectly cable of framing a woman and arranging for her death. Whether the queen is or isn't doing that, they believe it is not beyond her. Which means, at the core of it, the Church of Shelyn believes the Queen is corrupt."

At THAT Lenrelle's eyes narrow. Sable is a FRIEND and it is not so simple as that. She calms herself rather than inform the woman that when leadership appears so timid, it right it should be questioned. Quote:
"Is the mob looking for a scapegoat, or is someone higher up? Forgive me. I understand Shelyn loves artists, and is protective of them, but it sounds like you have some connection or contact to have gotten this rumor so quickly. So I ask you plain , do you suspect someone is laying out this artist deliberately for the mob and if so? Who do you think that someone is?" Lenrelle inquires. She had mentioned earlier when visiting a certain noble family that someone seemed to want to direct the mobs, that they had something to gain by it, and she still thinks that might be the case.
Female Human Cleric (Cloistered) - 3 (HP 35/35) (Hero Point Spent) (Hero P gained)
Well, maybe it's because I'm a fan of Shelyn as a player, but to me , the goddess and her church having the inside on the going on of an artist makes perfect sense. The Goddess of Beauty is a big patron of painters and more. Even a small church might have a regular worshiper from the castle who can give some gossip or rumors on the fast track to their church. I certainly have seen how rumors can spread through a real world church so this works for me :) I suspect, good aligned or not, the high priestess of Shelyn here is looking for plausible deniability. It's a fragile cover, but it is a cover. She's asking Talindra to put herself at risk while protecting the congregation but then, Talindra is a Champion of the goddess! We don't know this high priestess' level, magical or mundane resources. They may have access to ways to smuggle the artist to safety or hide her. Maybe they've done this sort of thing before in other regimes. Add to that access to clerical divination spells and literal divine guidance, and I'm good with all this. Maybe I'm a soft touch :) IN Character, Lenrelle is going to see this as hypocritical but that won't change the fact someone else's life is in danger. And they might even be able to find this lady who might have insight to what's going on.

Lenrelle winces at the high priest's chastisement, hoping it doens't wound Talindra who is , despite her battle prowess, a kind and sensitive soul.
Then Billi comes in with his news and she listens and says "Sable just went outside" Quote: "I cannot see much good if devils get a say in how things go here. Yes, order will come out of it, but an insidious evil will come with it. Mistress Lydia, please let me know what you want done. I am not an oathbound champion, but I think Torag would want diabolical influence eliminated where all possible. My axe is yours if it helps the lot of the commoners of this city, which seem to always be the first to suffer the mistakes of the wealthy and powerful." Lenrelle smiles proudly at him at that. For all his praise of our Noble, in the end, Billi is a rather noble soul himself. "And I'll help too, of course."

Lenrelle feels sympathy for the mistress, but nods at Sable's concerns and points "I think the point of visibility even as a apolitical source of comfort would make a difference as well. To be fair though, I've not yet checked on the temple of my own goddess to see how we are proceeding. Still, you play such lovely music. Maybe music praising peace heard out on the streets would be a start?"

Lenrelle's breath catches as the woman raises the club, but is glad her words join with Sable's to remind the people of their better selves and they break apart gradually, finding their better selves rather than their bitter selves. Quote: Sable beams a smile to Lenrelle, and then turns to the man. Lenrelle smiles back, a smile of relief and yes, satisfaction at team work for a good cause. Quote:
Lenrelle's advice is simple, "You may resent this near call, that would be quite normal, but I hope you don't let it make you hateful to folks who are feeling the blinding lash of desperation. Lenrelle was giving the cat a curious glance, but then they come onto the scene. It is worse than she imagined. The anger of the city brimming over. Is this the avalanche we were warned about? Quote: "What are you doing? How are you helping? He's Korvosan. Like you. Like me. Look around at our city. Is this what you want? For fear and war and violence and death to be all over our streets? Why aren't you home taking care of your families? Why aren't you helping people who were hurt last night? Leave this man alone and go home!" Sable's words ring true, and Lenrelle joins her "I've seen both sides of nobles, some are rather entitled, others feel the obligation of their station and strive to help. But you can't tell which is what just by who is wearing what clothes! Sable is right. Your families need you. Your neighbors need you. Blind fury does nothing to fix anything. Some hurt more, some hurt less, and it is an unfair world, but you can't lash out hoping to hit something or someone and make them feel pain too. It just lessens you in return. We can be better than that." Attempting to assist Sable's roll with Diplomacy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

She ponders this question for a moment, "mmm that's a fair question. As Talindra says, it's the people that matter most. The grandest temple in a country is rather sad if it has hypocrites and pretenders to the faith only in it. Where as a shack with true hearted believers is far more pleasing to the gods. However, traditionally, a proper temple is consecrated, it is designed to be big enough for it's congregation to make them feel welcome, but also makes them feels safe and secure its walls. It should try to reflect the nature and interest of the god or goddess it honor. For example, a Temple of Sarenrae, where it positions to the Dawn is far more important than it would be for ... say a temple dedicated to Erastil. A temple to Desna might have a part of it that's open to the sky for star watching. I can't speak for others, but it helps me when I'm in the temple and I feel constant reminders my goddess is in her power and her love is warm. I SHOULD Know that without a temple, and I hope I do, but we all could use a little assist now and then even if it's only a building that helps one imagine the full glory of his or her god."
