Heh, this blog post reminded me of that one PFS mod where my Cleric of Shelyn was given a faction mission from the Silver Crusade that was anathema to Shelyn's beliefs.[It involved destroying a work of art].

I also received that mission from the Silver Crusade. After submitting an official complaint to Ollysta Zadrian, I used the artwork as the first piece to create an even greater work of art about artistry and censorship.

If you play classes like cleric (which admittedly you might not), you still have to keep track of "I have 10 uses of bit of luck, 2 uses of tugging strands, 1 use of deflection aura, and 14 rounds of aura of protection" for instance. (incidentally, for those reading alon, who can tell me all the specs of my example PF1 cleric based on only this information?)

Tugging Strands is the power of the Fate Subdomain, and 2 uses indicates a level between 14 and 19 inclusive:

Fate subdomian wrote:
Tugging Strands (Su): At 8th level, you can force a creature within line of sight to reroll any one roll that it has just made before the result of the roll is revealed. The result of the reroll must be taken, even if it is worse than the original roll. You can use this ability once per day at 8th level, and one additional time per day for every 6 levels beyond 8th.

Bit of Luck is by default 3+Wis, so ten uses would seem to imply Wis 24, but some FCB like the elven one increase this number.

Deflection aura is from the defence subdomain of protection (fixed at 1/day), and the time on aura of protection locks the level as 14.

The first deity listed that provides both these subdomains is the Empyreal Lord Chadali

All accurate possibilities, and indeed, a 14th level 24 Wisdom (or lower Wisdom elf) cleric of Chadali could have those uses, but Occam's Razor wars with obscurity in terms of which deity who has those subdomains is most likely.
*nods*

Correct! (as is Emeric Tusan) This is me, at 14th level, assuming I don't get a better headband of inspired wisdom anyway.

Have a wonderful Crystalhue, fellow Pathfinders!

Silver Crusade 4/5

My priestess of Shelyn picked up a temporary feat from Crystal's Harrowing at the Grand Convocation, and she chose Heighten Spell. She has been handing out Heightened continual flame each scenario, asking in return only that the player describe a loving act of compassion that their PC performs, invoking Shelyn's name. That's harder for some PCs than others! So far, no converts to Shelyn. Another cleric of Iomedae in our region managed to convert a CN witch to worship the Inheritor (and slowly strive to switch to LN) through his amazing support abilities.

Hey all,

HERE is the 2nd draft of Iomedae's Code. It's meant to be printed double-sided.

If all goes well I'll have time tonight to upload a few other deities.

Let me know what you think!

This is great! If the .pdf was somehow form-fillable to allow entry of your own code, that would also be extremely useful for those of us with paladins of obscure patrons. I don't know how hard that is to do.

Form-fillable would be great.

I'm picturing players with clerics of Rovagug running around hitting chickens with greataxes. Then presenting their sheet to the table GM to get it signed.

"ROVAGUG BE PRAISED!!"

Or clerics of Shelyn spending the entire scenario sleeping with everyone in sight.

Posting as Lasair Alant, Cleric of Shelyn

Depending on the circumstances, this is either contrary to the Eternal Rose's doctrine (and more like her older chaotic self before her mother died) or at least not specifically relevant to fulfilling her code in any way. You may have mistaken her for Calistria, the Savored Sting? Or perhaps Arshea, the Spirit of Abandon. Or one of several evil entities I will not mention here to avoid their eyes upon us.

For a concise guide to the Eternal Rose's dogma, I recommend this short description that I previously wrote as a chronicle.

Personally, I have always been interested in the idea of unofficial PC organizations. These are something that could add a great deal to roleplaying in PFS, yet would not require interaction from campaign staff.

As for LG, I don't want to derail things, but I think that most of the backlash there comes from people saying "We weren't allowed to do X in LG and we LIKED it." This is a bit different, in that this is something player-driven that worked well in LG, and would easily translate here with minimal effort.

My -1 character, a cleric of Shelyn, would have not only fully supported every decision but would have also been extremely shocked that the group was shocked. This is exemplary of exactly what you'd expect from a well-RPed paladin of Shelyn. Maybe it's just playing through Council of Thieves with two paladins of Shelyn in the group that has me used to them.

So in other words she is judging a large group by the actions of a small segment of it?

As far as the Major ordering the deaths of certain individuals before others knew they needed to die, I would attribute that to a superior intelligence network. Just sayin' Just cause did not know what they were, does not preclude a limited group from being aware of the threat they would become.

(EDIT: oops forgot to set my alias on this and the previous post, fixed for this one, too late for the other.)

Having read one such mission, if he knew of the treachery, I think he would have mentioned it in his missive rather than the reasons he gave for killing the Pathfinder in question.

I do find it strange though not unexpected that your main complaint is with the cannibalism and not anything else she claimed. I feel cannibalism, if it is part of that person's culture, is a far lesser issue than the others she raised, though I know that there is a healthy debate about it. She's seen what she's seen. It's up to us to try to show her what's true by example. If only she had met my friend Karnath, an honorable Mwangi barbarian in service of Andoran, or others like him, perhaps she could see that there are many different sorts among the agents of Andoran.

I've never denied that my faction engages in what some would call shady activities, assassinations and whatnot. Nor will I defend Major Maldriss from accusations of being pompous, etc.

I will however expect people to provide some proof if they intend to accuse Major Maldriss of engaging in, or suborning, cannibalism. I also get a little hot under the collar when people who have not lived under the yoke of the Lumber Consortium, try to talk as if they understand it.

I can offer response on the comparison as I have only recieved my orders from Major Maldriss.

From what I recall, she only linked Maldris directly to the assassinations. I can confirm he requested assassinations of fellow Pathfinders on two occasions. In the end, the Pathfinders went rogue and conflict with those fellow Pathfinders proved to be inevitable, but Maldris asked for them to be killed before he or any of us knew that fact. As to the cannibalism, the only Andoran cannibal I know is one of the most honorable members of the faction I've ever met. He's actually a pacifist. However, I doubt that's what she was talking about. From what I've heard, sometimes Andoran faction characters in her area like to eat intelligent creatures that aren't human, like dragons and such. Maybe it's a regional meme like bribing for Dexios's area.

*Stirring from her woodworking in the corner, a strangely fey looking woman with a holy symbol of Shelyn looks up at Fasch's egress then turns to Doriam.*

That one speaks from experience, but hers has been clouded by what portions of Andoran and its agents she has seen. Maldris is a pompous arrogant blowhard, but he really does believe that what he is doing is helping people across the Inner Sea.

*She turns to introduce herself, smiling.*

I am Lasair Alant, devotee of the Eternal Rose.

I'll admit that some of the missions I've seen when I've been ask to team up with Andoran because Ollysta Zadrian doesn't have a mission for me have been extremely distasteful, but also sometimes in those situations Colson Maldris has asked me to perform an act of righteousness that pleases the Eternal Rose.

I came to the Silver Crusade from the Qadira faction before Ollysta Zadrian founded our glorious crusade, and I am truly grateful for a faction that fits my feelings much better than my former one, but I will say Doriam that from my unique perspective of being sent on Qadiran and Andoran missions as well as Silver Crusade, the Andoran missions were shadier on average than the Qadiran missions, even though the Qadiran missions were issued by Pasha Muhlia al Jakri, who I later discovered to be an assassin!

Having not read The Disappeared, I don't know where that targetted art falls. I can see it going either way. Maybe it's just porn. Or maybe it is something genuinely dangerous, like the abovementioned infohazard.

The painting was harmless. If Ollysta had given me that mission, I would have endeavored to enhance the painting into a greater work of art by adding artistic flourishes which hopefully could mollify her ire at seeing her goddess depicted in such a fashion. Although the instruction was to destroy the painting, hopefully she would have seen fit to grant that I had achieved her objective.

Yeah, you don't see enough Shelyn worshipers. I keep thinking a cleric of Shelyn would be cool. I've never seen one, and she gets some good domains, plus a reach weapon as her favored weapon, which is great for a melee cleric. [/offtopic]

If I ever find my way to your lands, so far afield from the Eternal Rose's message, I shall endeavor to spread her teachings to your people.

The following spells found in the Core Rulebook are not legal for play and may never be used, found, purchased, or learned in any form by PCs playing Pathfinder Society Scenarios: awaken, permanency, and reincarnate.
All spells and effects end at the end of a scenario with the following exceptions:
• Spells and effects with permanent or instantaneous duration that heal damage or remove harmful conditions remain in effect at the end of the scenario.
• Afflictions and harmful conditions obtained during a scenario remain until healed and carry over from scenario to scenario.
• A character may have one each of the following spells that carries overs from scenario to scenario: continual flame, masterwork transformation, secret chest, and secret page."

does the last line mean if my PC cleric casts Continual Flame on his Ioun Stone - it carries over into later scenarios?

How about if he casts it on a different PCs' equipment? that PC now has a Continual Flame cast by an XX level cleric... so, who pays the 50 gp material component cost? The Cleric PC or the Fighter getting the spell cast on his whatever? I just may post this as a thread of it's own I think....

OK.... here goes

The even more intriguing question is whether I can cast heightened continual flame on my friends' gear and have them keep that effect. This is particularly important for me since I will soon be losing the ability to heighten spells, as I only received it from a strange Harrowing--if I want to help my friends in this way, I'll need to do it soon.

The Eternal Rose's love and forgiveness are infinite, Peekasso. It takes great courage and strength of heart to admit your mistakes, reflect on them, and strive to move ever onwards. May Shelyn guide your heart to its truest form of expression, your mind to peace and contentment, and your hands to the canvas of life before you. If you ever seek guidance or counsel, do not hesitate to look for me at the temple of the Eternal Rose or the Grand Lodge.

Just get a spring loaded wrist sheath for 5gp to go with the scroll. Then it's a swift action to get the scroll in hand. The first thing my sorcerer does each scenario is straps a sheath with a breath of life scroll to someone who can cast it with clear instructions on how to use it should I hit the dirt.

Anything at hand is great as long as you make sure it's in the possession of your friendly divine caster. ^_~

Yes, it is a bit of a bummer. But some players who know they are a little squishier have backup plans. Some players will keep a scroll of Breath of Life in case they go down, and have it around for a friendly Cleric to try to revive them quickly after they go down. Others don't, because they don't want to spend money on contingency plans.

This is a very good idea, but you need to make sure the cleric is carrying the scroll in a scroll case at her side at all times so she can withdraw it as part of her move action to get up to you and still cast it as her standard. If you forget to hand over the scroll to the cleric, she can't possibly save you unless you lucked out and died adjacent to her.

This happened to me on one of my adventures, except that they didn't die, Shelyn be praised. Afterwards the other player mentioned that they had felt safe going in because they knew they had a scroll of Breath of Life, and I pointed out that I, and other clerics like me (or oracles of course, in deference to that Igor fellow I've heard about in the Grand Lodge), can't save you if you don't give me the scroll at the beginning of the adventure, or at least before you get killed.

Bravo! Surely the Eternal Rose is pleased with your presentation of Her message, Sister Rain.

If you're going to create an adventure around redeeming the Prince in Chains you might want to come up with an answer for the inevitable question of why Shelyn hasn't done this already. Your PCs might be stepping on some unpleasant devils bargain that Shelyn and Zon-Kuthon have regarding their father's fate.

The Eternal Rose holds the Whisperer of Souls while the Dark Prince holds all that remain of their father Thron. As proud of his handiwork as he may be, surely he would agree to a trade for the powerful glaive, but she still holds out hope that without the glaive's corrupting influence, some day the old Dou Bral will be able to return, allowing her to save both her father and her brother. And so holds an uneasy truce between brother and sister.

Hey guys, I'm playing a rogue/cleric in my friends party and I've been boosting channel energy with eagle's splendor. I found this spell on the srd, and was just wondering if "adds +2 to charisma ability checks" would boost the dc of my channel by 2. Thanks

No. DCs are never adjusted by anything that gives a bonus on checks. Similarly, something that gives a bonus to "all Dexterity based saves and checks", if it existed, would raise Reflex saves but not AC (which is a static number and not a check). Even though it does not help you in this case, may the blessings of the Eternal Rose be with you.
