With Toff in the hands of her allies, and this turning into more of a debate, she worries that the subject will either turn violent among many top wizards, causing mass destruction to all around, or will end in a way befitting people of reason. In any case, she doesn't need her brother to be there. She will quietly approach Viridel and Maganrad, stating: "I don't care about who did what in the past. While it is important, someone in this time, in this place, cast a spell that brought us to that place, on purpose. If it were in my hands, I would bring inquisitors in and put you all under questioning. Just know now, you have an enemy in your midst. Politically, I don't care who is in charge. I came to rescue my brother, who in my heart I knew to still be alive. And here he is. Despite winning the Breaching Festival, I am not staying here. I am taking him home, as he well deserves. I have to work to undo whatever that traitorous person did to him. But I don't buy for a second that there is no one here alive who is responsible. I say the sooner inquisitors dig the truth among you forcefully, the better." With that said, she will turn to Maganrad and hold out her hand to his briefly. After the short display of affection, she will ask for her brother's spellbook and then will take him to her father, who is likely in the crowd now tending to the wounded or at home, fearing the loss of another child. I can't see her lingering, so I guess I'm stepping back here.

None from me, except to say: "WAIT!" she directs to the Headmaster. Hopefully someone can stop him, but regardless if he disappears or not, she then points her finger at Vost. "You are to be just as potentially guilty as the headmaster. In fact more so," she explains with raised voice toward Vost, hoping to bring to a stop the fear in Toff that makes him wish to flee. "You are the Dean of Conjuration, aren't you? And it is your responsibility to ensure that the students and challengers face the school of conjuration when designing and setting up traps for us. Did you cast any spells in the Hall of Summoning? Is not the very spell that would carry us to such a tormented place a conjuration spell of exceeding difficulty? When I lay blame on the headmaster, I see the horror in his eyes that he would be responsible for something like this. Fright is there, yes, but more like a cornered animal. I believe he is at fault for suspecting something and turning a blind eye, and for that alone I blame him, but I do not believe he is the one responsible for all of this. I wish to hear all of your testimony," she now directs her speech to the other school senior staff who helped set up the Hall of Summoning. "Did she or the headmaster cast any spells upon the door to the Hall of Summoning in preparation for this event? It is by touching that door, we were brought to that hellish plane." "It's very simple, headmaster! We few here banded together and went in your Hall's doors, to the very Hall of Summoning there. Where we were immediately summoned into a hellish realm instead of into your hall to face challenges. I suspect this has happened every year, and those who likewise prepare the Hall of Summoning for this event can perhaps serve as witnesses to those who may have had the means and opportunity to set up a portal for such dastardly ends." "This devilish realm, of which you yourself likely suspected existed, forced us to face devils seeking to steal our souls; as they had done for a long time via this contest feeding them!" Then, gesturing to each of the party, she calls out: "Do not dare to put this blame on us, as he is a headman, he is a school wizard if impeccable reputation, I am an alchemist, and he is a paladin. None of us likely would have the competence to summon a horde of devils, nor set them loose from some hellish realm without a great amount of preparation in your hall. So this cannot be our doing, since in the witness of all who are in this city, we were forbidden access to the Hall before the match! Everyone here knows that! We also just laid our lives down to save everyone!" There was a reason that he gathered them together to fight this as one unit. His surprise also shows he is not responsible for this in its entirety, but he does know something about it. "We overcame those obstacles in that hellish realm and killed Chyvvom, who held the keys to that realm's portals. Upon his death, this portal opened and the host of devils came forth, as well as presented an opportunity for our own escape, but that is not on our heads. Who put that realm there? Who connected it to this tournament!? Who fed it year after year after year! Not US! Tell me the truth! Did you know it was there!? Did you knowingly send my brother to that place!?"

You owe my brother that much, of whom I rescued from utter torment!" she screams in anger as he cowers next to Elann, pawing at her robes in fear of the possibility of any lingering devils flying about. With bravery, Laree steps out in front and in front of any sight of her brother so that Toff must focus on her. If he is going to destroy anyone, she hopes it is her. Through her veil, there is a stern look upon her face and it can be seen in her eyes.

Laree is mostly spent. Her bombs are significantly reduced in number and her supplies that can affect devil-kin have dwindled. Still, she makes a number of key saves in the ongoing fight. Celestial armor makes her a beacon for many groups of unholy invaders. She takes to the sky, swirling with fantastic speed as the hordes follow after. Then, with true style and precision, her bombs dash into the swarms and abate their advance on the queen. Her actions also grant the students of Acadamae precious moments to erect up protection for the civilians. As her bombs finally run dry, she returns to the flying shield and axe of her warrior companions, drawing in the hordes to their throws. I'm out of everything that would affect devils. Bombs are spent. I have nothing left as a character to face anything else with acid/fire resistance. In an attempt to shake the grand mage from his stunning looks, she calls out, "Toff Ornelos! "The portal there may be our only way out! It is unstable, but we need to risk it. We will die if we stay here. Get through it!" Without hesitation, Laree flies down to the ground and pulls out her iron spike of safe passage, as well as a hammer. As the spike is driven into the ground, she produces an illusion of a rock. It takes the form of this and is quite convincing. A moment later, the alchemist dumps her sunderblock on the spike itself through the illusion, as well as detaches her fortifying stone from her armor, and places it on the metal. She seeks to increase its hardness significantly. Lastly, she will fly upward and pull out and toss her impact foam upon the spike itself--giving it a protective barrier from impact forces (not quite its design but it may function the same). If asked why she is doing this, she points out: "More powerful mages can scry out which plane of existence this all will shunt to with a discerning location spell. If I have secured this enough, perhaps by using it as a focus, we will know. Then, we can put any survivors of this collapse to bed forever and another demiplane will never spring up again." Once this is done, she will look at the portal and the swirling entities around it. She wishes to make sure Maganrad, her brother, Viridel, and Elann all have entered. After everyone else is through, she herself leaps inside.

"Elann, to me!" she asks of her simulacrum. As Elann moves over to Laree, her master commands further: "Pull a smokestick out of my pack." Without hesitation, Elann begins doing so. It is at this moment that Laree pipes up in mockery to the devil lord. "It appears you ran for your life and left something behind, or great Chyvvom. Your Erinys, had they still been alive, would have had the pleasure of that memory at least!" She smirks as she reaches out and ignites the smokestick in Elann's hands. The fuming cloud surrounds her and her assistant. Laree then activates her celestial armor, giving her the ability to fly. It cannot be seen in the cloud, but her clothing now bears a brilliance of the heavens. Elann, move action to Laree's side. Move action to pull out a smokestick.
I was thinking of maybe having Bayard smack the staff into the portal? Then it would be in the other room. And if Chyvvom goes after it, he'll also have to deal with a magical circle (if it wasn't him who made it, which it probably was). Then Bayard could go for his axe. The rest of the group could come out of the hallway, close the doors, and thus make the staff lose line of sight (if it is intelligent).

The Simulacrum moves into the smoke and begins coughing and asks, "Are you still in here? Safe?" Able to see clearly, Laree sees the approach of her simulacrum and nods, despite it not being seen. "Yes, I'm fine. Thanks to Grymwold's trusty arm and throwing of that shield. Good job, Elann. He has his axe back. That devil's scream was terrifying though, wasn't it?" The simulacrum doesn't really answer. Bayard has returned with his axe, and Laree smiles at the sight. "Now get him!" the alchemist thinks to herself and cheers him on with a brief clapping. When he becomes grappled again, she calls out, "Move away from the portal!" She can only hope that he can drag Chyvvom away. She then will dig through her pouch for a flask to use against the devil. Elann has moved to the smoke and is staying inside.

@DM: Sorry. I have been playing 5e lately with some friends and haste (I believe) grants an extra action, so that's where that probably came from, or from playing in a mythic campaign where you do get an extra action. Yes, you are correct, she would not wish to attack in light of this new information and I'm glad he missed! :) Wow, don't know how I missed that WHOLE paragraph of the Erinys' fear spell. I'm sorry...I would have gladly rolled. I believe I read the description of her actions in the space above, but not the summary of what it meant by her screaming. I thought she was just mad and charging across the battlefield lol. Silly devils. @Anethra: You readied an action for a heal spell. Will she use it though? Just so I know whether I need to heal Bayard or not.

Upon seeing that Bayard is restrained until cast into the portal, Elann prepares some firebombs and toss one of them at Chyvvom, but more specifically at the contracts he holds so dear. Ths isn't an act of intelligence on her part to consider how it would affect his present state of contractual matters, but rather to negate that which would likely restrain her within moments. While it is clear that the fire won't harm him due to his planar origin and race, the paper is likely highly flammable and will likely burn away with the explosive, licking flames. Elann: Ranged Attack vs Chyvvom and his contracts (primarily these if possible), move action to throw in the axe, hasted move action to run away. ------------------------------- Laree hears the screams rise from the last Erinys as she brings the demise of its sisterkin. At the same time, in preparation for this assault, Laree begins to prepare some bombs but notices her supplies running short (2 left by my count). She instead focuses on her alchemical goods. A smokestick is pulled out with swiftness from her side and lit as she runs from the approaching flier to a spot closer to her allies (likely provoking AoO). A fuming burst of yellow smoke fills the area ahead of her as she tosses the smoke stick. A moment later, the alchemist disappears into it; however, with her veil, she is able to see and breathe perfectly. Stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17 (For sound purposes since it is denied a visual perception check) I don't think I can throw flasks at the same speed that I can as bombs, so I'm doing some other actions here. It is a hasted move action to run away, a move action to pull out the smokestick, and a standard action to activate it. Being that the Erinys is further than 10ft away from her, she cannot be seen as per fog cloud and gets 20% miss chance if it comes within 5ft of her. Smoke also is not negated by true sight :)

With that, she throws her bombs into the chest of this erinys. ---------------------------------------- Elann will hear her master's command, and although it is in the path of danger, she feels no fear within her. She almost mindlessly obeys, running around the edge of the portal and until she gets under the two forces colliding above her (where I'm assuming the axe is). There, she picks up the weapon and throws it up toward Bayard. Hasted movement over to him, then a move action to pick up the axe, and standard to throw it up safely. Her hasted action might be wasted here. If she can, she will wait to throw the axe until Bayard is ready for it. I'm not sure what mechanics we need to do to make sure it's not intercepted or anything.

Perception: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (12) + 30 = 42 The bookshelf is where Laree immediately heads once the room is considered cleared. She takes in the various titles; some of which she is certain she doesn't wish to continue existing in the realm of literature, but it is here she finds a crevice and a scroll. "Here we are...Look at what it says here..." she doesn't read it aloud, as she is unsure if the mentioning of its name will hold power here and draw it to them. Viridel and Anethra can discuss who wants to the scroll of banishment. She will pass it along as she examines the various plaques. It almost reminds her of a museum but what she'd expect one to look like were she be in hell (which she is). "Poor souls..." she mutters under her breath. She then moves to go give her brother a loving hug, once again, filled with the overwhelming happiness that he is not like these poor souls. When her hug is through, she will move to the loose papers and investigate to see if there is anything further that they can use to help them with their freedom from this place. Elann watches with sentinel-like eyes toward the rib-looking decoration.

I think communication is key. I don't care if you have 4 jobs and can't post for a few months, as long as I know what's going on, then I can make a decision to stay in a game or to know if it has been abandoned (which happens all the time on here). Something I do when I'm busy, is I set aside 5 minutes, write a tiny snippet, leave it on a notepad, and come back to it.

Now that he is clean, trimmed, and free, she sits close as he collapses to his knees. When he is a bit more relieved, she brushes his hair lightly with her fingers and says, "Come brother...we are getting out of here, to fresh air and sunlight, where you can taste the goods of the world once more." She stands and offers him a hand up to come with them. At the sound of the flurried bashes against the door, she jumps, but hearing the imps fail at getting through, she laughs lightly to her brother. "That must be a refreshing sound. I'd imagine it hurts to hit that door so hard. Payback for however long you stayed down here. They are going to starve to death in there...a long, slow death." she nods and moves over to the other, beckoning him to come with them. When she checks on Maganrad, she is hesitant, but at his words, she relents and nods. "I too will keep an eye on him, as best I can. I don't expect you to take this burden on yourself. I came for him. He may struggle with things along the way. If worse comes to worst, we can always place him in my portable hole...," although she doesn't seem to like the idea that just came out of her mouth.

Laree doesn't answer him. She just runs her hand lovingly through his hair and nods to show she will help. In the meantime, she will be letting Virdel talk to him. She will move over to Maganrad. With care, she lightly touches the ulfen's arm. Laree holds out her other hand for the notebook. "Your face looks green with sickness...You need to get out of this area and recover." He looks like he is going to say something to her and she will wait but if it is easier, she just asks him, "Can I give this to my brother now that you've prepared some spells from it?" If he hands it over, she will return with the book to Wolfe. "We found it in the other room. They've been manipulating you, making you think the books are switched around, but you never would have found it." Such torture almost makes her want to tear up again and he can easily see it on her face. It then is replaced by a forced smile. "Shall we get out of here dearest brother?"

"I don't believe that," she coldly replies to Anethra. "While he has suffered, I am certain there are spells and methods to reverse this. He doesn't deserve it. If one wishes to choose to follow such things, then so be it, but I know him, he wouldn't have wanted to." When his eyes snap open and he voices his concern over his spellbook, she looks into his eyes. Could he lie to her? They didn't have much more time. Sense Motive (Discern Lies): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 "What do you intend to cast out of it if you do find it?" she asks. "Or will it just let you leave this room?"
