Yasserian, please bring Mr. Silvash a mount please.

Laholm continues to eat in silence as it seems his guests are just grateful and don't have many questions. The food is delicious. Before Kilm comes to a stop, Laholm has two things to add.

The outpost to the east is a viable path towards Alkenstar, but I don't think the townspeople are open to outsiders. It seems pretty heavily guarded.

Also, if anyone would please look after my brother Thaane with this He presents a wand and describes that it is negative energy that heals Thaane, but inflicts wounds upon the living. I'd greatly appreciate it.

The party is lead to the stables where their mounts have been fed and groom. Tack has been cleaned and conditioned. Laholm offers mounts to anyone that wants one, that did not come with one. He also has a pack mule if anyone is interested.

He instructs that you are just about two miles away from where you left the caravan to scout. It is across open desert though until you get to the rock formations.

You caravan is to the west. Hurry, it is getting dark.

So, how have you been Thaane?

I like to keep an eye on Thaane when I can, but my curse keeps me within two miles of Kilm at all times. Wonderful as it is though. Thank worm is a giant sand worm. It's favorite food is giant scorpion, but it is not a discerning eater. I have seen them swallow entire armies, whole. Kilm keeps us safe because its thick metal walls are virtually inpenetrable and it's powerful dweomers frighten most creatures. We also have the cannons. Sadly, Yasserian is the only automaton left. I have only two of those blue gems left. One is for Kilm and the other for Yasserian.

As the group enters Kilm, they notice how remarkably clean the inside is compared to the dirty and rusty exterior as some parts even look polished. Their mounts are taken to the left immediately and provide fresh oats and hay as well as buckets of local spring water.

The gnome introduces himself. I am Whimbli. Pleasure to meet you!
And then leads the animals into the automated stable. The party also notices an automaton standing about 4 feet shy of the 12 foot ceilings. He is a large, bulking humanoid made of machinery with eyes that glow white and a bright blue and silver glowing gem about the size of a fist affixed to his chest in the middle.

This is Yasserian. He will lead you into the dining hall while I retrieve your gifts. Laholm instructs. Whimbli is an excellent cook. Let us see what he has prepared?

In the dining hall the adventurers see a long wooden table with 12 carved armchairs down the side and two at each end. The table is set with silver goblets, plates and eating ware. There is a roasted bird at the center surrounded by vegetables. Plates with fresh cheeses and pastries surround them as do bowls of fresh fruit.

Each setting also has two small glass bottles of a pinkish potion next to it.

There is a large silver bowl at the entrance to the hall where Yasserian informs them that they may wash off. The bowl releases the used water and refills by pulling on a cord.

on the giant left wall there are numerous hooks for the party to hang their gear, weapons, and armor if they wish.

Whimbli comes around to poor wine, ale or beer depending upon the choice of each guest. Yasserian follows with goblets of water. He has some strange runes crafted into his metal.

Laholm returns robed and clean with a giant sack. I have brought each of you something to make your journey less cumbersome. He begins to hand out special back packs to everyone except Thaane. He gives him saddle bags.

Saddle bags? remarks Thaane. I don't ride beasts He protests.

Yes, I love the irony of it. They do the same as the haversacks though. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth Thanne. Laholm quips.

Let us get better acquainted and I shall share what I know with you. Laholm states. Let's eat.

Thaane. Laholm gently beckons him to follow quic. kly to Kilm.

The ground quakes again as Kilm draws closer to the party. Ripples in the sand appear about 1000 feet away. Kilm squeaks as it moves ever so slightly across the desert terrain. It's portcullis appears as a mouth in the front which opens like a hinged mandible to let the adventurers in. A gnome appears waiting just inside the mouth-like entrance, ready to stable the mounts. Kilm stands at least 100 feet high at the peak of the chimney and about 60 feet in diameter with at least four stories of space mimicking a small mechanical mountain riveted together with scraps operated by a complex system of gears and pulleys.

Is the party going to enter the domicile?

Besides, Kilm will take you in the direction of the caravan while you rest. Your mounts will enjoy the confines of our stable and you will be safely within a mile of the caravan.

I understand this. I have been watching. You can get a quick repast and I have some items that will make your journey less cumbersome. The worm will not go near Kilm.in an hour or so you can return to your caravan with a scouting report and some additional information about the east. It seems that your caravan is now heading in that direction, no?

The grind begins to shake again, but only for a few seconds.
Let us hurry into Kilm. suggests Laholm.

Or those cursed with the black blood. interjects Laholm.

Thaane and I are both human. We both suffer from curses. Thaane was born with his. Mine was given to me by our mother. A power. ful dweomer that forces me to stay within sight of Kilm, my home . He points to the slowly moving enormous mechanism.

I would love to show you some hospitality and rest if you would be interested in joining me.I do have beer. Wine and Ale also.

As Laholm begins to speak, you see a gigantic mechanism with a central flue pouring out smoke as it slowly moves towards the party.

I am a friend, hopefully...I am called the Watcher of the Wastes. I can hopefully be of some service type o you. he states politely. Please forgive my state. You see if I return to my original form of human right this moment, it shall be without clothing.I don't mean to alarm you.

Laholm addresses the party members, smiling as he looks around.

The winged figure lands next to the injured Thaane, who is clutching his chest. He hands him a potion. Thaane drinks it.

1d8 ⇒ 5

He hands him another one.

1d8 ⇒ 7

Thaane drinks.

How come every time I run into you, you are injured or nearly dead? asks the winged man.

It's good to see you too, Laholm. sarcastically replies Thaane.

It's not easy making friends for you is it Thaane? asks Laholm.

I have enough friends. He replies.

Laholm pulls a wand from his belt and waives it. All of a sudden an invisible beast lifts up Thaane and takes off in the direction of the orcs.

Bewildered, Thaane yells back I don't ride beasts!

YOUR WELCOME! Replies Laholm.
