Mmmreh. It seems the Dreams take me elsewhere.
White-Fire looks somewhat saddened.
Ah well. I honestly thought Kzethax would make it, but that's what I get for being hopeful. Hope you guys have fun!
Kzethax turns to Sturion. Mmmreh, dwarf. Have odd question. Have you fear of elephants?
If you don't get the reference, look up Dwarf Fortress, and then Boatmurdered.
Don't worry, Rikael, Kzethax and White-Fire still remember.
Kzethax ambles out of the inn, with White-Fire on his shoulder.
Mmmreh, Heldren? Dreams say that be my destination. Should not be alone, though. Mmmreh, need allies...
White-Fire pecks Kzethax in the head.
MREH! Mreh. Burning gods. Mreh?
White-Fire immediately turns to stare at Rikael.
Kzethax falls asleep where he sits. Clearly he has no need for beds. Zzzzmrehhh, do not hit with stick, Chief... Zzzmrehhh...
I know I come from north, mmmreh. Realm of Mammoth Lords. Dreams have taken me far.
Her hunch is correct; White-Fire flies over and lands on Calah's head. Hoot!
Kzethax's response is completely unfazed. Sea-spirit be skinwalker? Mmmreh, should not be surprised, White-Fire. Blood mingles, does strange things.
MREH! Mreh. Fire. Mmreh? Gah, that be my scale! White-Fire holds up his wing and repeats his charade routine.
Mmmreh, bird do this sometimes, since can't talk. Okay, scale-hop?White-Fire shakes his head and repeats Scale...walk? The owl holds up his wings, almost as if to say "Close, but not quite." Skin...walk? White-Fire nods furiously. Mmmreh, you see skinwalker? Where be it? White-Fire stands still, forgetting that his master was asleep during Calah's little trick.
White-Fire watches Calah transform and his eyes go very wide.
He flies down in front of Agatha and hoots a few times to get her attention.
He holds up a wing, pulls a scale off the sleeping Kzethax (it doesn't wake him), and begins to sort of "walking" the scale across the table.
Time for familiar charades! Who can tell what White-Fire is saying? He obviously knows what Calah is.
Kzethax is clearly quite tired. He nods off to sleep again and starts sleeptalking.
Zzzzzzmmmmreeeehhhhh... fire... frostburn... Cthu... Yaga...
Know nothing of kinslaying. Know nothing of kin, mmmreh. What be you speaking of?
White-Fire gives Aevann a very strange look, then accepts the food.
ZzzzzzzzMREH! Mreh. Burn things. Where I be again? Kzethax wakes up from his short nap with a start. Looking closely, his staff appears to be smoking, though there's no sign that it was burning.
White-Fire flies down from the ceiling where he'd been hiding. Noticing his master asleep, and several patrons inattentive, he quickly eats the rest of Kzethax's food and steals a quick morsel from every other plate that isn't being closely watched.
Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo! The owl almost sounds like he's laughing.
Mmmreh. Kzethax appears to have lost interest in the goings-on around him and is apparently asleep.
Okay, I'm curious about something. Let's say that Kzethax took Improved Familiar at Lv7 and chose the Voidworm.
Is it possible that the Voidworm could still be White-Fire? Say, that his soul took a new form from the patron's power or something.
May be, may not be. You say beast killed your clan? Know not any beast that make witchcraft, mmmreh. Mayhap clan dug too deep. Clan may have angered dragon. Many things possible.
Edited the pun up there so it's a little more clear.
He be witch, not bewitched. Kzethax laughs at his little joke, and White-Fire seems to agree, his hoots sounding like laughter.
If you made that up, I applaud you. Nicely done!
Mreheheh... What secrets have I? There be only my memory, and the name of my patron, and I be knowing neither.
Mmmreh, my patron be of fire, not ice. Is enemy to god called Black Man. In cold lands, fire is friend.
I know. It was deduction on Kzethax's part. There's an unusually early winter, and this guy is suspicious of WINTER witches.
I understand worries, but winter be not caused by these two. They be not powerful enough to bring snow to Heldren.
Mmmreh, magic. I hear tales of Irrisen's winter witches, who not live but thrive in cold, mmmreh. Perhaps hatchling be one of them. You be not considering this?
Mmmreh. Stay hand, or I hit with stick. He be but hatchling, and magic do strange things. Stick good at making people see sense, besides sobering them, mmmreh.
Agatha's words intrigue him, though. Queen of Witches? Mmmreh, know no Queen. Be you royal, Not-Orc?
Kzethax takes Rikael's words literally. Do not fall unconscious when I am near, mmmreh. He notices that Rikael is also drunk and gives him a tap as well. Be also thankful that west arm unafflicted.
Maybe this will knock sense into Gold-Eye. Mmmreh, apologies. Kzethax raps the obviously inebriated Shiro in the head with his staff. Not very hard, but not exactly gentle.
That's the player, the character is Shiro.
Kzethax stops to take a breath from his tirade at White-Fire.
Gold-eye? Did not know point-ears could be drunk, mmmreh.
Blast that bird! Kzethax starts cursing in Aklo and pulls a short cane out of his voluminous robes. White-Fire's eyes go wide and he flies up to the rafters. Kzethax keeps yelling at the owl in Aklo while waving the cane.
Psst, Agatha. Don't you realize that some of your cheese has been stolen by a mischievous snowy owl?
Be at peace, dwarf. If my kind mourn every dead kobold, we get nothing done and kobolds truly die out, mmmreh. Do not mourn, but do not forget. My kind does not grieve, but we do avenge.
Four favorite characters besides our own, you mean? If that's the case, I'd have to say Sturion, Rikael, Shiro, and Agatha.
To better fit with his character, I changed Kzethax's hex to Healing, and replaced the CLW spell with Inflict.
Mmmreh, I have healing magic, but person can only be healed by it once in day.
Nay, let White-Fire tell when he is able, mmmreh.
The owl in question swaggers a bit, hoots with seeming arrogance and attempts to steal a scrap of cheese from Agatha.
Mmmreh. The one who causes the Dreams be cloaked in fire, and bitter enemy of, as you say, Black Man. I never learn name of patron, see only visions of fire.
Mmmreh, know few gods. Dreams say that one called Nyarr– Narly– Nraltho- mmmreh, I cannot pronounce. Is enemy with many faces.
Kzethax grins under his hood. Do not remember tribe I come from, but do not forget that hatchlings must be protected. If need healing, though, keep eye on trinkets. Bird still think we need paid for healing fire, mmmreh.
Called by the Dreams. Visions from deity, though who the god is I know not, mmmreh. White-Fire knows, but unable to speak. Just bird, after all.
Mmmreh, I be witch doctor. Bird fancy himself bandit, I hit with stick until he gives back trinkets.
Kzethax taps his staff on the floor. Carved this staff, to Dreams' orders. I presume fire is symbol of Dreamer, mmmreh. I feel White-Fire knows patron, but I be not understanding him enough yet.
Mmmreh. I be not strong enough, else I do precisely that. Help the poor drunkard.
All manner of strange folk this day, mmmreh... Myself, strix, dark-skin point-ears, woman who cause thought of sharks, point-ear with golden eyes... Some god be telling bad joke.
Kzethax stares at Sturion's holy symbol as it's pulled out. Torag? Be god of artifice, yes? Mmmreh, met kobolds who follow only for construction. Mostly traps.
Kzethax turns his gaze to Shiro.
Gold-eye, what manner of point-ear be you? Mmmreh, point-ears have black eyes, but yours gold. Something stirs in memory, mmmreh... What it is, I know not.
White-Fire hoots and fluffs his feathers indignantly.
Healed hatchling, yes. Mmmreh, strix brought her in, mother killed by bear. Kzethax points at the carcass. That bear. I make heal-fire. Blasted bird try to find trinket on her. I hit White-Fire with stick, mmmreh. Bird convinced need pay for work. I convinced bird is greedy magpie dressed as owl, mmmreh.
Dwarf has no quarrel with me? Mmmreh, is strange. Normal happening, dwarves see west arm and tail, grow suspicious. See east arm and face, try to kill me.
Mmmreh, hatchlings alone. Is dangerous. Listen to gold-eye, go by fire. He turns back to his food, only to find it gone.
Mmmmrrrr... blast that bird... Kzethax starts muttering darkly in Aklo.
Mmmreh, do not remember tribe. Remember nothing before Dreams. Traveled to Mana Wastes, mmmreh. Was... afflicted.
Kzethax seems hesitant to show his right arm again.
Kzethax stops shooing away White-Fire to look at Agatha.
Mmmreh, you be orc, yet not orc. What be you?
White-Fire quickly takes the opportunity to quickly grab and swallow a bit of Kzethax's food.
Well met. His warped face grins as he turns to his owl. Mreheheheh... You see, White-Fire? Be good, or bear eat you.
White-Fire looks unimpressed and simply fluffs up his feathers.
Mmmreh, ever had things stolen by birds? My companion be owl, but act like magpie. He steal trinkets and food from people I heal, mmmreh. Usually have to hit with stick before he give back.
