"We will sorely miss your skills, but there is wisdom in your plan. I say go with, and travel with the blessings of the spirits." He turns to his allies of opportunity. "I agree with Demitri. My energies are low, let us rest if we can find a sufficiently secluded spot. Also, reconnisance of this so called Serastis would be wise. If we could sit and watch for half a day to see what defenses these snake folk possess. A night assault might not be out of the question either."
Kunsua looks upon the fearful folk, and speaks to them in Mwangi. "The exit to the cave did have a powerful guardian - but we slew it as we came down. Your way, spirits willing, should be safe now. We must leave you now to fight these serpent-men. For those of you without homes to return to, when you reach the surface you may call upon the aid of the Kallijae elves - tell them Kunsua the Druid sent you. Follow these marks, and when you reach the border, announce yourself thusly...", at which point he spends some time describing to the more calm looking the various rivers and other landmarks necessary to navigate to the borders of the elven lands. Diplomacy 1d20 ⇒ 18 After this we will make preperations for travel.
Kunsua unlocks the Mwangi bonds. "Zyngeth, your resourcefulness and resolution are admirable. I am sure many more would have perished without your assistance. You are a man of magic as well, I see. Perhaps your equipment is nearby? The serpent folk must have had some sort of quarters or base of operation." As he works unlocking bonds he continues speaking. 'Perhaps we should retreat to another locale, in case our fight was noted. Once we are safe should attend to the wounds of these people, as well as our own, supply them as we can and send them onto the surface. However, does anyone have any ideas beyond that? I'm sure I could easily find a form that would allow me to scout this valley from the air or ceiling. Should we press on, or recover our strength?"
"Greetings Zyngeth, I am Kunsua. This..." he says, motioning to the raptor " is my friend Uwa. My village was also enslaved by these creatures as well, although in my absence. I have joined these humans to seek out my kin. I do not know much of these foul abominations, but their presence seems a blight upon the natural order". He looks at the large cavern meditatively. "I fear that fighting our way across the cavern to the fortress may be folly and suicide. Perhaps some of the drow or dwarves know secret back ways, or information regarding what the serpent-folk seek." Kunsua takes a moment to see if any of his own tribe are among the enslaved, and to assess those who still live among the enslaved.

Kunsua tries to ascertain if the the giant snake is a product of nature - or some sort of magical beast. K(nature) 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 If he identifies it as a natural beast, he will scamper towards it (->K20) - he intends to use magic to nullify the creature. Uwa moves quicky to join in the fray - but he's not quite quick enough (->A20).
"I am sure you are very quiet, Balo. However, think I can handle the distraction." First Kunsua casts a few spells on Uwa, and then transforms into a tiny lizard, and scampers across the distance to the top of a mound of dirt. With assiduous use of lesser restoration, I'm sure I can be back at full health: 4d4 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 1) = 11... which is two days. Likewise with magical healing, and for the dinosaur as well. Kunsua looks troubled. "I wonder if any of my tribe lies among those below" He meditates for a moment. "Would some sort of distraction be beneficial? I am sure I could sneak among them... a snake or a lizard would go unnoticed, I think. Once among them I could call something that might occupy them a few moments while you get closer."
"As I said before, it was a living fungus mound. Simply hungry, like many things in the world. Perhaps the inhabitants of these caves knew of it as a danger and left it in place for the unwary..." he says and then turns, looking at Demitri "...or the hasty" Edit: 6 con damage, leaving 8 con currently

"Hold, friend. Did you not see that spot just quiver when I hit it? I fear that it lies in wait... or perhaps will react when we approach" Kunsua gestures to the spot. "So approach with caution. Perhaps we can use a large stone or some other method to trick this entity. Thoughts?" He begins to look around for a larger stone to toss...
Kunsua motions a halt. "Do you see that? He says, motioning to a set of tracks."Something is strange here; the tracks disappear and reappear a short distance later." He picks up a rock, magically lights it, and tosses it towards the break in the tracks. In case it matters, attack to hit a square: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

"I assure you these realms are as alien to me as they are to you, but if you wish I will lead the way." He turns to Zafira. "My companions name is Uwa" He chants a magical blessing over Uwa and attaches an amulet of some sort of discolored, darkened metal around the small dinosaurs neck before using an orison to light his own shield and press into the darkness. He proceeds slowly, staring intently ahead. Greater Magic Fang (6 hours), Amulet of Might Fists, move slowly (half speed searching for traps/hazards; i'll keep detect magic running as well.
He arches an eye at Balo curiously, but takes his hand none-the-less. "There are many tribes in the Mwangi. You may find some are friendlier then others" He turns back to the cave entrance. "I was just reading the news" Kunsua says, gesturing to the tracks. Track, Survival 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27
Kunsua grimaces, lowering his hand but keeping his shield read. He barks a yipping command to the dinosaur. Draconic:
"Down Uwa" "The Yunnai Zenj tribe was murdered or ensalved, but not by the demon ape or any human. They were close to my heart, so I hunt their killers. But the tracks... they are like none I have ever seen. Some are like humans, but they have claws and hard soles instead of boot or foot. Some are like the snake. You say you hunt snake skins and monsters? I know not of these snake skins but perhaps they are the murderers of the Yunnai. If so, perhaps we have a common foe."
Before you is a small Mwangi featured man with a graceful frame, violet-gray eyes and pointed ears that mark him as being partially of elven blood. He is dressed in a primitive hide, it looks to have come from some sort of reptilian creature. Hanging from his hide armor by strings are bones, mostly teeth, from various creatures. The teeth are large and pointed, and have clearly come from something other then a mammal. He springs to his feet and brings a wooden shield up in a defensive posture. He cries out: "Behold, I am Kunsua of the Kallijae! I seek the Yunnai Zenj tribe. Pale ones, are you their destroyers!" His hands are held high, ready to summon mystical energies to his aid... |
