Kjell nods at Druhir and cracks his knuckles. Once she says to go, he leaps forward and brings his foot down in a powerful stomp on the thing's skull.

I'll admit I've gotten a little lost about what's happening since the teleportation, partially because some others were in combat while we weren't, and all of that. I think we're close to linking back up together, though?

Kjell waits for any input for a time, and then shrugs and trudges into the mossy room. He makes for the closest door he can see, and once again puts his shoulder to it, taking time to smash it down.

I'll take 10 on Strength to mash the door at first, which is a 14; if that doesn't work, I take 20 unless interrupted for a total of 24.

When the mold is revealed, Kjell pauses, and the strength seems to leave him. He breathes heavily and gives Druhir a lopsided grin, his eyes somewhere between tired and anxious. "What do you think? Is it safe to go through?"

Kjell looks around, his eyes wild and seething, but Druhir's comments bring him back to reality. With an eager nod, he slams into the door, shoving his whole weight against it with the force of his rage.

Realized I miscalculated the bonus from Steadfast Personality--Charisma replaces Wisdom for mind-affecting, rather than adding to it--and I'd forgotten the +2 for being in a bloodrage. It didn't change that result, but here it makes all the difference with the help of Tavius!

Kjell grunts and howls as a spike of pain focuses his mind, and he throws off the paralyzing fear of the undead creature. "I will not fall!"

"There is no glory or victory in retreat," Kjell says. He folds his arms and regards the rest of the group. He isn't dumb enough to push in on his own, at least against undead... but nor does he like the prospects of turning tail. "And if we run from every fight for lack of weapons, I don't see how we might get them."

Kjell sniffs at all the magic being tossed around, but he looks at the mold with suspicion. He doesn't say it aloud, but he's thankful he doesn't have to worry about breathing it in as he passes by.

A fair misunderstanding--drow are pretty well-known for their feelings about their surface cousins. And it can be hard to pick up on tonal stuff in PbP. So long as it all remains in-character it's usually alright, though.

Kjell wakes with a start, not sure how he got here. He staggers to his feet and curses as he realizes he's all but naked--only clad in scant hides and his tribal markings. Even his ancestral axe is gone, and he flexes his fists as if seeking its grip. Then he starts listening to what others are saying. The strange appearance of several, including the four-armed creature, gives him pause. But when none of them move to attack him, and they seem to be in a similar predicament, he nods.

"Baphomet? Accursed demon lord, then. I am no pawn in the games of the Abyss." He thuds one arm against his chest and raises his head. "I am Kjell Strongarm, son of Kromax, killer of demons. I lead my people against the abyssal horde for many seasons. I will not fall to them now."

All I really need is a big hunk of cold iron. Preferably a greataxe for flavor, but any two-handed martial weapon made of metal will do.

A bit of armor could be nice. The mithral breastplate is obviously the ideal, but anything helps.

Thanks for including me, and hello to everyone else! I'm looking forward to a long and interesting journey with you all.


Just crunch here, fluff to come, but here's Loup Blanc's submission. Short version of the background is he's the child of an Ulfen and a Kellid, and he grew up in Numeria in a tribe that constantly faced danger on the border with the Worldwound. Between prophecy surrounding his birth and the tribe's situation, he grew up with a disliking of demons and training in combat to fight them. Add in a splash of mystical power and he's now a warrior through and through, skilled in facing the wicked creatures of the Abyss. I imagine Baphomet found him troublesome and amusing, and decided to toss him in the maze to keep him occupied.

If his setup is a little much, and/or you'd prefer characters not so tied to fighting demons, let me know and I'll change anything that warrants it. (I don't know if the demon part matters, since I could easily see us fighting plenty of things that aren't demons, regardless of the setup.)

Hey all, I'm going to officially bow out of this one at this point. It's been a fun game, and I've got no problems or anything like that. I've just sort of petered out of interest with this character and everything, and I've gotten busy with other things in life of late. I for one welcome you, friend! I'd think a full cleric would be helpful to us now to help with divine support, but certainly a martial-themed cleric would be fine. Perhaps War, or Tempest, so that you might charge into battle with the strength of the storm, alongside me!

As far as Gameplay, I've been busy settling into school this week, and this game's kind of fallen by the wayside in that. Hopefully should be good moving forward, though.

My apologies, I've been very busy and haven't been able to think of anything to say.

Upon return to the surface, Kjell seems at a loss. "I'm not sure how much healing magic of mine can help your brother just now," he says, looking at Johanna with a solemn expression. "But I swear by the gods and skies above, I shall find a way to help him!" He raises his hammer in triumph with a wild grin. "Of course, right now I could use a rest and some food."

When the rest of the group comes to the tavern, Kjell is already there, having come to rest up and get some good food and drink. He raises his tankard in greeting as the others arrive, and waves them to his table to pass the time until the meeting.

When that time comes and goes, though, he grows concerned, and nods with Duncan's thoughts. "Indeed. Aleanor can handle herself, to be sure, but with trouble like this morning, even she might need a helping hand." He drains his tankard, slams it on the table, and stands. "We should go and find her!"

If Lilly's healing is not enough, Kjell staggers over. "Nice arm," he comments to the half-orc woman, pressing a hand to his wound and grimacing. "But let's look to this lad first." He kneels down and places a hand on the young man's body, and plants his hammer on the floor. "Come on back, now. The world isn't ready for you to go just yet, and Valhalla will wait. By the grace of Odin and the power of Thor, breathe!"

Can use Lay on Hands as needed, and I'll follow up on Krieger before healing myself with whatever's left. My pool is 25 HP.

Fortunately the swipe misses, and Kjell hunches over with a growl. "I don't--what's--Grah!" Not sure of what else to do, he falls back, his hammer and shield kept low but ready to defend himself.

Kjell turns on the creature with shock and, shortly thereafter, rage--anger that swells at Johanna's revelation. "This abomination cannot stand. By the power of Thor, I will see it destroyed!" With that, he sprints forward with a growl, coming in with his hammer under the magical assaults of Maeltheron and Taman. Using a bonus action for vow of enmity.

Attack 1, Advantage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 161d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Total 16.
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Kjell turns from his position to stare aghast as Krieger suddenly jerks, shouts, and falls. "Odin's beard!" the northerner exclaims, leaving the body behind as he rushes to aid the gnome. "What's going on, here?"

Kjell lets out a shout of surprise--although it sounds like a pleasant surprise--and redoubles his efforts against the creature, even letting out a laugh. "Haha! A wild one! You're still no match for the power of Thor, foul beast!"

Attack 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 Expending a 1st-level spell slot for Divine Smite on this one.

It seems Kjell's proclamation is at least partially true, as his first swipe misses, but the second smashes into the creature and a burst of light accompanies the hit.

Kjell leads the way as the party explores, holding forth his hammer to light their path. When the danger arises, its sudden appearance catches him by surprise for a moment, but he reacts quickly to dodge the attack, and then wades in with a grin. "Taste the power of Thor, foul beasts!" he cries, swinging his hammer forward with gusto and skill.
