Kilarra adds at the last minute, "If whatever wards or defenses that are here from when this temple was dedicated to Sarenrae, it may be worth a try to ensure that it is evident that you are one of her faithful when you strike the gong. Perhaps you might recite one of her more sacred passages as you do so or maybe even ensure that her holy symbol is clearly visible." Kilarra thinks about it for a moment, "As near as I can tell there is nothing from my past experience nor know knowledge of traps that would allow me to see a connection between the chime, the door or anything else. Needless to say, none of it seems to be trapped but that does not mean that they do not pose a hazard. If it is a religious thing then perhaps the wisest course of action is to have one of her faithful be the one to strike the gong."

Kilarra looks down the well and takes a deep breath, "I may need my hands free when I get down there. Tie me off and lower me down, if everyone works together, it should be fairly easy. Due to the distortion that may occur from the echoing in the tunnel it may be hard to understand my words. Therefore when I will whistle a low constant note for as long as I want you to lower me. I will stop when I want you to stop and I will whistle a high pitched warbling sound when I want you to pull me up. Everyone ready?" Kilarra allows herself to be lowered to an appropriate height then examines the surrounding area. Once everything quiets, Kilarra doses in and out for a while enjoying the peace of the morning. After a bit, she gets up and retrieves a bucket of fresh water and a cleaning rag and whatever large piece of cloth that she can find that would work as a curtain. She then makes her way to Solomon and Zhalet. "Good morning, I can only hope that we face our foes today with the same ferocity and conviction that the both of you showed last night!" Noticing the fatigue on Solomon's face, "Although perhaps some of us still show signs of the night. Why don't you go try to get a nap in while I help her get cleaned up. The breeze is a little stronger up near the top of the battle market and you can still find good shade to rest in, Also, please close the door on your way out and ask someone to be sure no one comes in." After Solomon makes his way out, Kilarra sets the bucket, rag and a bar of soap that she retrieved earlier from her pack down beside Zhalet, then strategically ties the drape to the cell bars so that if someone were to try to peak through the key hole or were to come in uninvited, the drape would block their view of Zhalet. She then pulls up a chair next to the door where she cannot see Zhalet except maybe her feet and guards the entrance as well, while trying to engage in light conversation to help her relax. "I cannot imagine after all that activity last night how good a hot bath would feel right now, but I am sorry to say that this is the best I could do. The desert is beautiful this morning, there is a strong and cool morning breeze and not a cloud in the sky. Do you ever miss seeing clouds? It seems like a lifetime ago that I saw a cloud. I never really thought about it till now. I am really looking forward to the rainy season, I mean the mud will be annoying but clouds and cool days." Kilarra continues to make small talk until Zhalet is done. I say that we allow Solomon to nap until he is no longer fatigued, assuming it is around 6 AM, this will mean he sleeps till 2 pm, we are 10 minutes from the church, that will give us around 4 hours to deal with what is down there before we would need to head back and secure Zhalet for another night.

I am sooo confused, when did anyone ever say we should lock Zhalet up and then go off and keep adventuring for the night. To be clear, the GM has said that it is not even barely noon and yet it seems that Solomon and Zhalet are already getting ready for night which is still a half a day away. What has been suggested though is that we not waste the half a day of daylight we have left and at least get back to the battle market before settling in for the evening. At least that way we will, as a full party, have a full day to work on the bad guy under the church. Besides, given Solomon's connection to Haleen and the fact that we have more than 6 hours of daylight remaining, I cannot believe that Solomon is not on board with going back to the Battle Market and staying with Zhalet there in the Battle Market, which has actual prison cells instead of the Monastery which has makeshift ones. It just seems highly out of character. Unfortunately, there are already posts declaring actions that jump us ahead by several hours and kind of cuts the rest of us off at the knees in posting any kind of discussion to this effect in, what seems to now be the past. It may be necessary for the GM to just untangle things for us by setting the stage of where people are on the next morning. As for Kilarra, she would have gone to Zhalet and Solomon and made the proposition that they use 2 of the 6 hours of daylight remaining to go back to the Battle Market and the other 4 hours to get ready for keeping Zhalet safe for the night. If they want to instead wait the remaining 6 hours before sunset at the Monastery then Kilarra will return with whoever will go with her to the Battle Market to defend it and to keep Kardswan and Haleen safe until the party catches up to her/them.

Kilarra walks towards Rukn, "Though it is not yet noon I think I saw Solomon headed for the makeshift prison. I wonder if he plans to remain the night here." A look of deep concern crosses her face as she looks back to the town. "If that is his intent, I certainly will not stop him but I for one will not leave Haleen alone in the Battle Market with nothing but a scant number of mercenaries to help her keep Kardswan in check and defend themselves from whatever lies beneath the church. I can respect his concern for Zhalet but there must be a balance between safeguarding her and also eliminating this grave threat that looms before us. At a minimum I feel we should return to the Battle Market before the sun sets and contain her there. At least then we can have a full day tomorrow to try and cleanse this town at last. Turning back to Rukn with a slightly embarrassed expression "Look at me...going on like that. I think I will go and talk with Zhalet, Solomon, and Alexander will you join me?"

I had not thought of that but an excellent point none the less. Nothing would put a damper on this whole situation more than if it decided to possess Haleen instead and we had to fight her to the death in the final fight because we took too long.

Well, I figure the longer we wait, the more time the baddy has to get ready for us and there is probably a chance each day that Kardswan gets free. If he does, it seems probable also that Kardswan will join with the Baddy in the final fight. Considering how hard it was to beat him when he was not fighting back, I would hate to face him and whatever nasty lies beneath the church.

Just wondering, are we planning to spend the rest of the day here or are we planning to at least get back to the battle market before settling in for the night. I get the vibe that people are planning to spend the second half of the day just chilling at the monastery. Assuming that the lycan curse is tied to a full moon then the moon should rise at approximately the same time as sunset. In general, the moon will rise approximately 1 hour later each day (I think the actual number is closer to 52 minutes +/-) and so, if we are approaching a full moon and we are 1-2 days before the actual full moon then the moon will rise approximately 1-2 hours ish before sunset as it will be a waxing moon and not a waning one. Kilarra smiles lightly, "Of course we will and I hope that you might consider us when trying to reestablish the foundations of the town after we are done. The Beast Within:
Kilarra nods at Zhalet's words "We are well aware of the hazards but let us be clear..." Kilarra reaches out and takes both of Zhalet's hands in hers "...you are not alone, you are not a pariah not a leper. I cannot imagine how afraid you are but we are all here with you sister." Kilarra uses her grip on her hands to draw Zhalet into a gentle hug and teasingly whispers in her ear "Just make sure to refrain from biting and scratching in bed." Kilarra pulls back a bit leaving a hand upon her shoulder "How about we go find the boogie man under the church and show him the light of Sarenrae shall we?" Approaching the graveyard:
Kilarra eyes the graveyard warily, uneasy at the hidden dangers it may hold. Listening to what Solomon has to say she adds in soft tone "We are pretty sure that our foe knows we are coming and is likely prepared for us. As such, the advantage of surprise is likely not with us. I am normally the first to suggest scouting but in this case I believe sticking together might be the best course of action. Haleen scene:
Kilarra considers Haleen's words for a moment as if the answer was not to her liking then seems to come to some conclusion, smiles softly and says "Well, I must admit that I thought you would respect us enough to know that we would want to share in your burden, not to watch you carry it on your own or worse, never know what became of you. Haleen, we are family, you do not have problems that you must face. No, WE have problems that we must face together, but enough dwelling on the past. You do not want to share your dept with us and you want the self respect to handle it on your own? I can respect that, however, before it gets to the point of run away and hide, come to us, we will help you." Kilarra steps up and gives Haleen a lingering hug "I am so happy to have you back sister." Alexander: After talking with Haleen, Kilarra goes and finds Alexander. She finds him just as he seems to have finished talking with Kurellak and Jank. Curious as to why Kurellak looks like he would like to find a way to fit into a pony keg and seal it up but decides that what she came to find him for is more pressing. Alexander, first, let me say thank you for your understanding and considering my request that Undella make the decision regarding Kardswan. That aside, if you have a moment, I was wondering if you can provide your expertise on something magical that I found. Kilarra carefully produces a folded cloth from her pouch and sets it carefully down on a large level surface. Unfolding it so as to be sure that no fragments go tumbling away she reveals an assortment of chips of ice that do not seem to be melting. She then pulls out her broken Kukri that she found at the monastery and lays it beside the pieces. "See, if you carefully arrange then right you will see that all the pieces are here and when you fit them together just so, I can feel them thrumming with power but they won't stay. What can I do to restore it?"

1) Do you have any interest in recruiting a sixth? If you want to, I do not object but I do not feel that we need it if Rukn is switching to a Melee build. If he is not then yes, Kilarra would be the only dedicated melee combatant and not a tank at that so it would be a good idea to get someone in to fill that role. 1a) If we do recruit, what role would you all like to see brought in? See above 2) What do you think of altering those fire gems from the shrine of Nethys so that they are linked in some way to their creators? At a minimum this would allow you to re-shape them with a ritual to serve a purpose other than their original one, and might include letting them grow stronger as you do. I really like this idea. While it may be cliche, I have always like the feel of Drizzt's Guenhwyvar and how it is bound to him on a personal level. All too often I feel like magic items are so plug and play and not enough personal connection. For example, in my own life I have a very old buck knife that I have kept for years and years and sharpen etc. I feel very protective of this knife because one day when I was up in a tree cutting the limbs out of it one of the limbs got caught on one of the ropes that was connected to me as it fell. So suddenly I was trying to keep myself from falling out of the tree from the sudden added weight and I had this buck knife on my belt. With one arm I held on and with the other hand I get the knife out of it's holster and cut the rope from me. That knife probably saved my life as I was about 60 feet up. Even though I could buy new, maybe 'better' knives today, I keep it very sharp and almost always wear it whenever I am working. It would be nice if our characters could be similarly connected with certain items without sacrificing the gains of switching to the new shinny loot. Also, I would like to get a consensus on resting through the night or proceeding to the church right away. Whoever the creature that dominated Kardwan is, there is little doubt that he/she knows we are here so there is not much to the element of surprise. For this reason I say we should rest and go as prepared as possible. The only exception is if there is a chance of this creature getting away. If there is the possibility that it will be able to slip out then we should go now even though we are not fully rested. Lurch, is there any one like Haleen or any of the other locals that could shed any light on this possibility? Also part 2, do you plan to inform Almah of the events in Kelmarane at all? Obviously we do but at present the town has not been fully cleared so I feel it is premature to run out to her and say..."hey we got most of it done, be back when we are finished." That would be a waste of time. Personally, if we are resting then I would advocate to send one of the Lions to give an update. If we need to go clear the church now then the update can wait.

Is there any way to have it modified/reforged to be a kukri for less cost than to just pay for a +1 kukri to be made? 2) I did not see you list the Cloak of Resistance +1, if no one wants it I know Kilarra can always use better saves. Especially for when she rolls bad on trap checks. for the Ring of Feather falling, if Kilarra gets the slippers of spider climbing then I would say that Zhalet should get the ring.

"He does not get to stay and make Undrella relive what he did to her, even if it was under some influence. We fix him, he leaves. Let him seek cleanding in Sarenrae's temples and monasteries elsewhere. Agreed?" Kilarra nods to Solomon in thanks then turns to Alexander, "I fully understand and agree with your desire to protect Undrella from any hardship. I only ask that we respect her enough to let her make that decision once she knows all the facts. If she decides that he should leave and never return then so be it. Are we agreed?"

Kilarra rushes to Kardswan's side and begins to try and stop any bleeding. "Help me stop the bleeding and I will explain. When we were back on the monastery do you remember me digging the big hole in the courtyard?" After waiting for her allies to acknowledge she continues, "I had a dream. In this dream I had a vision of both Sarenrae and Nethys arguing over me. It was as if they were in disagreement as to which of them would use me to do something that they needed done. It was unclear to me which one won the argument but at the end of it I begin to have these impressions or feelings that were not my own from time to time the was guiding me to some purpose. The first of which is that I should dig in that courtyard until I found this dagger."[b] Holding the broken dagger made of ice and feeling sadness at its current condition she looks up and goes on. It lead me to say what I said and I am not sure how I know but I do know that Kardswan was a hero for good. Based upon what he said and what I know of him from the past, it seems that he is under some kind of control coming from beneath the church here in town."Kilarra looks to Alexander, "I know that Undrella said to kill him but if we free him from his mental bondage then we would be destroying the man that she knows him to be. In essence, we would be killing the Kardswan that now lies at our feet. Please, help me to save him." Looking to Solomon and Zhalet, "If ever there was a god that believed in redemption then Sarenrae would be her. Please, for no other reason than to live out the divine example of your patron, help me redeem him." Looking to the group as a whole, "I will support whatever decision we make but I hope you will consider this alternative" While she waits upon her friends to make up her mind, she gathers up the shards cut from Kardswan's belt pouch and begins to try and see if all the pieces are accounted for by carefully fitting them back together on a cloth on the ground. So, I am not sure what exactly you are looking for. just something that hits more consistently or is there some aspect of your character that you feel you are missing? If you want something that hits consistently and does very reliable steady damage then I have a build that does start with Zen Archer that I could recommend to you. Although I know Lurch has seen this build before and he may ask that you not do it as it becomes pretty OP starting around level 9. On the flip side we are closing in on 2 years playing this game and we are still level 4 so what are the odds we will be around to see level 9 eh?

copied from discussion with typos corrected Kilarra finally breaks her invisibility to strike. Using her ally as a distraction she strikes fast and furriously but aims her attacks to avoid being too lethal.
Non-lethal dmg 1 1d4 + 5 + 1d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 5 + (2) + (2, 6) = 19 normal + fire + SA
Non-lethal Att 2 1d20 + 8 + 2 - 2 - 4 + 42 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 2 - 2 - 4 + 4-2 = 20 Flank - 2 weap - Nonlethal + total bonus gained for debilitating injury - broken weapon Non-lethal dmg 2 1d4 + 5 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 5 + (5, 2) = 15 normal + SA
