![]() Khazak looks thoughtful. He says, "Kaxidin himself referred to the Master now that I think on it. Kaxidin claimed that the Master would somehow gain power over our souls if Kaxidin killed us and ate us. While that is obviously nonsense, nevertheless this "Master" may be somebody with enough magical ability that Kaxidin was impressed." ![]()

![]() Khazak comments, "There may be something else going on there. One of the goblins we engaged was more scared of failing his "master" than dying. I'm not totally sure, but I don't think Shadowash was who the goblin was referring to. It is possible there may be a wounded goblin on our back trail. If so you may want to round him up and question him." ![]()

![]() I found the encounter with Kaxidin to be somewhat disheartening. Khazak was doing everything he could and the goblin not only would not go down, he didn't even seem to have been affected that badly. Khazak also couldn't handle the level of damage it was dishing out. I was wondering what it was we were supposed to be doing that would have made any real difference. I don't like having to be saved by GM fiat. Other than that I think that things went pretty well. That the game went into hiatus for a while and might have to do so again occasionally is the sort of thing one has to expect in PbP games. Whether or not more characters might be needed is going to depend on what the encounters are going to be like. If there are more "Kaxidin" like encounters out there we're going to need at least two more heavy infantry fighters to stand a chance. If we're going to be dealing with more balanced scenarios then that might not be necessary. ![]()

![]() Khazak says, "I thank you for the aid and comfort you have provided. I realize that I would almost certainly have died if you had not helped my friends and I out. Still though, for a dwarf to be saved from a single goblin by elves is something that I find to be slightly embarrassing." "Regardless, that was the toughest goblin I have ever encountered or heard of. I hit him with my axe hard enough to have felled an orc in chain mail twice and it didn't seem to affect him that much. I hope there aren't too many more like him running around." ![]()

![]() Constitution check to stabilize: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 When Khazak collapsed he was at -1 hit point. Grifo healed him for 5 which then put Khazak at +4 hit points. Kaxidin skewered him for 10 points of damage which then put him at -6 hit points. Having made his stabilization check, Khazak should now hold at -6 hit points for the near future until/unless something else happens. ![]()

![]() Perception check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Looks like I'm only going to get one more chance to take this bad boy down and the way things appear right now I better go for it. Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Khazak takes one last swing at the goblin, but his wound interferes with his ability to attack and he misses rather badly. Khazak collapses on the ground at -1 hit point. ![]()

![]() Khazak takes his AOO at the goblin. Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 +2 STR, +1 Hatred, +2 flanking Khazak then goes ahead and takes his regular attack against the goblin. Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + (6) = 13 That should have got his attention. :-) ![]()

![]() Khazak draws his battleaxe and holds it in a two handed grip. He moves 20 feet closer to Kaxidin and positions himself so that he is flanking Kaxidin with Peony. He says, "Before you dine on hobbit you're going to have to eat my axe." But unless Khazak somehow gets an attack of opportunity he won't be able to engage Kaxidin and the wolf until next turn. ![]()
Trap Spotter Male Dwarf Rogue/2
![]() Khazak will move as necessary so that he will not be close enough to the goblin for it to get an AOO on him and also so that Tobold will not be unintentionally providing the goblin any cover. Then he will shoot at the goblin with his heavy crossbow. Crossbow attack: 1d20 ⇒ 14
If that hits: damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 ![]()

![]() Not too much to think about. If the goblin attacks me then obviously I have a clear line of sight to him. Take 5 foot step back, let him have it with the crossbow (+4 to hit) and transition to battleaxe. If he attacks somebody else try to get a decent line of sight and shoot at him with the crossbow at +0 to hit (taking -4 penalty for shooting at somebody engaged in melee), then transition to battleaxe. So the only real question is whether or not the goblin will be able to tag me before I can get the battleaxe out. ![]()

![]() Gee, practically next door neighbors as far as the Internet is concerned. But that is the strange thing about the internet, it can be easier to interact with people half way around the world from you than it is trying to meet people who live on your street by using the web. ![]()

![]() And to think that I punted getting Survival skill for this character. At least the ranger ought to do well with this. Still ... Survival check: 1d20 ⇒ 1 Perception check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 6 lane divided interstate highway? Where? What do you mean I'm standing on it? Khazak whispers, "Looks like we might need weapons after all." ![]()
Trap Spotter Male Dwarf Rogue/2
![]() My apologies, I should have made that clear. It's just that I've been generating a lot of characters to experiment with different builds and options and I take the Favored class bonus as a skill point so often that it's something I take for granted. Note for the other players, when I generate a small size character I always try to take the Escape Artist skill if there's any way I can shoehorn it in. ![]()
Trap Spotter Male Dwarf Rogue/2
![]() Khazak will stealthily approach the door to the hobbit hole and see what state the door is in (open, closed, broken down, lock obviously tampered with, etc.) Stealth check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
