As much as I love dead tree editions of everything, I'm finding I need to reduce the amount of storage space I dedicate to my hobby, and PDFs take up a lot less space than paper.

I've got the following complete adventure paths I would like to sell:

Curse of the Crimson Throne (original edition)
Legacy of Fire
Council of Thieves
Kingmaker
Serpent's Skull
Skull & Shackles
Shattered Star
Reign of Winter
Wrath of the Righteous
Mummy's Mask
Giantslayer

What site would be best to sell these on? I don't want to break up the sets as a lot of these are already out of print. I'd like to get a decent return; I've sold RPG books on ebay before but always as individual books, not sets.

I am planning on using the alternative to the moldspeaker posted here in my LoF campaign I am starting tomorrow (running under the Pathfinder ruleset). That got me thinking- if we are linking the party closer to Sarenrae... why not run LoF as a mythic AP? I've never played a mythic game before but I do own the Mythic Adventures hardcover so I have access to all of the rules. And while I haven't read past the first book, it sounds like a high-powered conflict of genies etc would be a perfect fit thematically for the mythic rules.

Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not?

If I was going to do this what points would make sense to introduce mythic tiers? It seems like the first one ought to come after the lake oasis sequence in the alternative to moldspeaker thread.

What are the best 3pp APs out there? I played part of WotW and really liked it and was wondering what else is out there.

I'm going to be running an in-person AP soon and I am still waiting to decide for sure which one I want to run. I own most of them already and am a fairly experienced GM.

Which APs have the best supporting material? By this I mean fan-made additions and alterations or modules that fit well between volumes, etc. I know some of the APs are stronger/more popular than others but I don't know which of these have been fleshed out by the community in ways that mitigate their weaknesses.

I also would really like to tie in a module with an AP- like I know Witchwar Legacy fits well with RoW, for example.

My group is experienced enough that the more sandboxy ones would be ok, but rails are ok too. They are leaning towards Mummy's Mask but I haven't read much about that one yet.

Wanted to get some feedback. I'm going to make a halfling or gnome barbarian for the PFS Core Campaign, probably with a reach build of some kind.

I know small characters are not optimized for this role, but I want to do it anyway. Is there anything I should look at doing to keep this character? within the core / small bounds I want to optimize him as best I can so I don't bring my tables down with him.

The bells atop the Temple of Erastil toll their midday song, echoing throughout the quiet town of Kassen. As the peals begin to fade, the first of the townsfolk make their way into the square, dressed in black, as if attending a funeral. They slowly fill the square, moving quietly across the cold, hard ground, their eyes downcast and mournful. After a few moments, a murmur passes through the crowd as it slowly parts to let Mayor Uptal through. He leads the way with a tarnished silver lantern. Behind him, an old pony drags a cart laden with backpacks and supplies.

Once he reaches the center of the crowd, Mayor Uptal stops and calls out to the assembled townsfolk. “Once again the winter winds blow through the Fangwood, marking the end of another harvest. There are wolves in the woods, howling at our walls, and serpents in our shadows, waiting to strike. Just as it was one hundred and seventy-four years ago, when Kassen himself left these walls to protect us, so it is today. Where are the heroes? Where are the brave folk that will venture out to Kassen’s tomb and retrieve the flame to keep this community safe for another winter?”

This book assumes that this is the first adventure for all the PCs, and that they know this is their year to reclaim the fire from Kassen’s crypt. Each one should have some sort of tie to the town of Kassen and should be living in the town when the quest starts.

Crypt of the Everflame begins on the 4th of Neth, just as the winter winds are beginning to blow. This is the day, in the year 4535, when Ekat Kassen and his men set out from town to find Asar’s camp and deal with the mercenary. The characters are all informed that they are expected to travel light, carrying only what they absolutely need—weapons, armor, spellbooks, etc.—as rations and other generic equipment will be provided.

Let me know why you are in Kassen and what your tie is to this community.

We do 4 hour slots at our FLGS. Do I need two slots to complete Accursed Halls with 4 players? Or is this more like Emerald Spire (one slot is enough)?

This will be a PbP Crypt of the Everflame module for PFS credit. This module is a 1-2 module so it is an evergreen with unlimited replay for 1st level characters. All characters must be PFS legal.

Gameplay will be on PbP with Roll20 used for mapping purposes.

I would like to start by on Saturday, July 11th (potentially sooner if we get enough applicants quickly enough). I want to run this with 4 players; any more and the module will get overrun.

Posting frequency should be every day.

Play by post games always take far longer than face to face. There are some things we will do differently to mitigate that as much as possible. Below are some general guidelines:

1. If you are declaring an action and you know what skill or game mechanic is used, go ahead and roll it at the same time as your post. Make sure that you label your roll so I know what it is for.

2. If a roll needs to be made and there isn't a decision for you to make, I will make the roll myself. This includes saves, perception checks as well as anything else you have forgotten to roll yourself. Waiting for players to make passive rolls slows things down too much.

3. If you are making an attack roll, make a damage roll at the same time. Don't make assumptions about whether you hit or not.

4. When real life happens and you can't post for a while, please let me know so we don't wait for you. If you don't post after 2 days and we are in a non-combat, non-critical situation, you just won't say/do anything and we will move on. If we are in a combat or other critical situation and you haven't posted after 2 days, I will declare an action on your behalf and move on.

5. Play by post is a medium that makes it easier to do deeper roleplaying. Feel free to include internal character thoughts in italics. Anything your character actually says should be in "bold text with quotes." Describe your action in detail, and when talking to NPCs feel free to ask more than one question at once. OOC (out of character) questions go to the discussion thread.

I am pleased to announce that William Crandall of Utah is our newest five star GM.

William is an excellent GM who always goes the extra mile to make sure his players have a great experience. He was a great help when we ran Siege of the Diamond City here in Utah, and we are lucky to have him.

From one of his regular players:

"William is a great GM who always spends a lot of time preparing the scenarios he runs for Pathfinder Society. I have been roleplaying with him for many, many years. He knows the rules as well as anyone else I have ever met. Pathfinder Society in Provo would not be where it's at if it wasn't for all the work he has put into it. He is the reason I started playing Pathfinder. I feel that he really deserves to get his fifth star and I look forward to playing many more sessions of Pathfinder with him."

Congratulations, William!

I joined PFS late enough that I never really was able to follow the Shadow Lodge subplot and would like to explore that both as a GM and a player. I wanted to see if we could work out a plan where we have a set order of scenarios that would take a group from level 1-11 that could form some sort of logical order to cover all of the Shadow Lodge material; I would probably run this at my FLGS in Core mode so replay issues are less of a problem.

What scenarios would be relevant? What would be a good order? I know a similar plan is being used to play all of Season 6 this way.

GM burnout is real, and seems to kill a lot of games. Would anyone be interested in an AP where every player is expected to take a turn behind the screen? At least at the end of each volume we would rotate GM responsibilities, and would expect people not to metagame too much for a more enjoyable experience.

This would be a PbP game. I'm just wondering if this is something there would be interest for at this point.

Hey there everyone,

Are there any modules that would fit in well in terms of filling gaps in this AP? I feel like the characters are leveling a little too fast for what they are doing. I just started book 2 with my party and am hoping to supplement with some thematically appropriate material that might help develop the story and setting a bit more.

The show all scenarios button on the reporting page appears to be broken. When you click the show all scenarios button the drop down is empty.

I've checked this on Safari and Chrome on Mac (Yosemite) and on Windows 7 in Chrome.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm looking to build a light cavalryman to use as a gypsy caravan guard, but I'm not sure what the best way to do this would be. I'm thinking some alternate build of a cavalier, but I'm not sure. I want to avoid heavy armor and build something more like a Dothraki with decent social skills than a Western knight, skinned as a flashy gypsy type. Any suggestions on the best way to build this character concept?

This is for a home game of RotRL with a gypsy themed party. 3PP material might be permissible as long as it isn't too broken.

I had a player the other day playing a hospitaler paladin that was using a meditation crystal to dramatically increase damage output from radiant charge (by increasing the number of his lay on hands available to him). Is that legal in general for PFS? It seems rather dramatically overpowered.

Also, is it possible for him to start a scenario with the meditation crystal already activated, or does he have to expend channel uses within the scenario for this? I'm leaning towards the latter.

Is there a cap for the number of channels a meditation crystal can hold?

EDIT: I changed smite evil to radiant charge, realized my mistake after I posted.

I'd like to have some more advertising in the store for our local PFS group. Are there official posters or handouts for PFS that we can get to advertise in our local store?

Hey everyone,

I'm in a Star Wars: Edge of the Empire campaign right now with GMs rotating after each major plot arc so nobody gets burned out. It has been working really well, but the group is very consistent.

There has been some interest expressed in trying to run some Star Wars games in our FLGS. We've run the beginner boxes there a few times already. We have an extremely active PFS group there now, and I think it would be nice if we could offer some variety- but as far as I know, there is no SWRPG organized play available, so we would have to figure it out on our own.

How could we make the games work out well with having different players each time? We would probably have 3-4 GMs available to help out, so we could coordinate to some extent and try to minimize table variation to something reasonable, but I'm not sure if this idea is even remotely feasible, especially given the more cinematic/rule light feel of Star Wars. PFS seems to work well because it is very structured...

Thoughts?

Hey everyone,

I've got an 8th level inquisitor. He generally uses two weapons and charges into melee. He's got great damage output, and 1-6 he was absolutely amazing to play. At 8th level his survivability seems to be about nil, and keeps getting dropped after two or so hits.

What priorities change at that level? How is 7-11 play different from 1-6? I'm going to retrain him a bit and I'd like to know what I should keep in mind; Almost all of my Pathfinder experience is below level 7.

2/5

Hey everyone,

I am planning on running Curse of the Riven Sky as a sanctioned module for PFS. However, it looks like I may not be able to get 4 players with PFS characters of appropriate level (9-11). I'd like to be able to run it anyway.

I see two solutions to this, neither of which by my understanding would be PFS legal (though I hope my interpretation is wrong).

1. Run it in campaign mode without sweating it. As far as I can tell by the rules this is only an option for sanctioned APs, not modules.

2. Allow some additional players to use the pregens included in the module. I don't think this is allowed since they aren't the sanctioned 7th level characters.

Thoughts?

I have a GM boon for an undine character for PFS. What class/archetype do you think would fit this race best flavorwise?

2/5

So I was thinking of maybe trying to run a sanctioned module at a convention. Looking through the modules I already have, the only one that is sanctioned is The Witchwar Legacy. The thing is, this one is set for 17th level characters. I thought PFS was capped at 12? How would you ever be able to run this one PFS legal? I must be missing something.

I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you publicly to Paizo for their generous support of TableCon in Salt Lake City. We truly appreciate your generosity. Paizo's excellent service and kindness to its fans has made me an extremely loyal customer. I am sure that is true of many others at that convention. It was great to get a chance to GM and play at the same event.

I'm going to build a 3rd level phalanx soldier for PFS (I have some GM credit stacked up). I'm looking for suggestions on how to make him a good protector. I know PF doesn't have mmo tanking mechanics, so I'm not going to just stack AC. I want a character focused on keeping the rest of the party as protected as possible. I usually go for max damage builds but this time I want to be more of a team player and be more focused on preventing others from getting hurt.

I'm thinking I'm probably best off focusing on using his reach for AoOs and moving towards combat patrol (with shield bash as an option if the enemy gets too close).

Any suggestions or feedback?

Star Voter Season 8

Is it possible to get my submission reset so I can resubmit it? I just realized that I changed one critical detail of my submission that will probably get it disqualified.

I assume that it is too late but I'm hoping I'm wrong.

You are in an opulent parlor in the Druman capital of Kerse, part of the manor home of Temel Passad, a prominent Kalistocrat. Served the finest Chelish wine and delicate sweetmeats while awaiting your host, you have time to peruse a letter from Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin.

Letter:

Pathfinders,

Society agents recently learned of a lost, previously undocumented Sky Citadel in what was once Sarkoris, the land now consumed by the Worldwound. As we cannot push into that demon-infested wasteland ourselves, we have recruited dwarven aid in the dangerous expedition. In exchange for military assistance and historical expertise, the dwarves will have the opportunity to reclaim this lost stronghold. Two weeks ago, Highhelm sent an entourage of diplomats and tacticians north toward Mendev to meet with Venture-Captain Jorsal of Lauterbury to discuss terms and develop a plan of attack. When they failed to arrive in a timely fashion, Jorsal commissioned sending magic to contact Rakuska Ingardam, the mission’s leader. Rakuska’s return message—cut off due to the magic’s limit—was as follows:

“Passed Xer, paid our way, but attacked and overcome. Razmiri priests hold us for unknown purpose. We are held somewhere near the Glass River at…”

One of several possible places they are held is the Gray Revelation Inn, about thirty miles east of Xer—we suspect the Razmiri priesthood uses the site to interrogate prisoners. You must investigate and liberate the three dwarven envoys—if indeed that is where they are
imprisoned—and then escort them to Mendev. Accompanying you are two other dwarves who will take the captured envoys’ places if you aren’t successful: merchant Metella Raugar and respected Pahmet mystic Amauhak. The Kalistocrat Temel Passad, a Druman with whom
we have dealt in the past, has volunteered a boat to transport you north, and I see little reason why we should not take him up on this offer. Building a good working relationship with one or more influential merchants would be to everyone’s benefit.

Good luck!

Ambrus Valsin

Two silent servants open a pair of richly lacquered doors, and a human and two dwarves stride into the lavish parlor. The man, clad in immaculate robes of whitest silk, is short and round with a blond oiled beard, and his eyes are alert and amused. He takes a touch of snuff from a golden box and sneezes before saying, “It is a pleasure to welcome Pathfinders to one of my estates once more. I am, as you may know, Temel Passad. Allow me to introduce—”

One of the two dwarves, a redheaded female in deep scarlet robes, curtly interrupts the man. “We can introduce ourselves, Passad. I am Metella Raugar, representing the interests of several Highhelm mercantile consortia. My companion”—she gestures to a dwarven man with leathery skin baked by the sun, his head swathed in a bright yellow scarf—“is Amauhak of Reth Bezel, a mystic of the sand dwarves of Osirion.”

Passad attentively sees to your needs and ensures that the refreshments are to your liking before discussing business. He informs you that his boat, the Abacus, will take you from Kerse, hugging the shore of Lake
Encarthan before entering the mouth of the Glass River to pursue your first task: searching the Gray Revelation Inn. From there, the Abacus will take you the rest of the way to Mendev to deliver Passad, Metella, and Amauhak, and hopefully the liberated envoys. The deeply tanned
Pahmet mystic notes that keeping the presence of himself and his two companions a secret is the wisest course, given what happened to the earlier team.

Feel free to ask any questions you like.

And here is our discussion thread. Please let us know if you will be absent for a few days so we don't wonder if you got hit by a truck.

A Pathfinder Society Scenario for characters of 1st to 5th level (Tier 1–5).

A Pathfinder leading a diplomatic envoy from the dwarven holds of the Five Kings Mountains has gone missing, and the balance of power in a time of war hangs on her rescue. The Pathfinder Society's divinations indicate the agent was waylaid in the theocratic nation of Razmiran, when one of her escorted diplomats failed to pay a requested tithe. Now it falls to the party to enter Razmiran, locate the missing Pathfinder and the dwarven diplomats, and escape with their lives.

Written by Mike Shel.

Rogar Valertis Alastoris and Ched Haddari have reserved spots already, which means we need 2-4 more players.

This scenario will be run as a play by post with a posting speed of at least every other day. We will use roll20 for a battlemap when necessary.

I will be closing recruitment on Thursday so I can get the game going this weekend.

I'd like to expand my collection of PFS scenarios. I GM locally for PFS as well and it would be good to have more scenarios available, but always being the one to pay for scenarios I GM gets old after a while.

So, here is my proposition. You pick any PFS scenario I don't already have, pay for it using the wishlist function here on the site so I can gain access to it legally, and I will run a play-by-post for that scenario with at least a post every other day, for you and up to five friends, using roll20 for a battlemap. I get a new scenario legitimately and you get to play the one you want. Seems like win-win to me.

I'm not interested in pirated copies, and I can only GM one scenario at a time this way.

What I already have:

0-5 Mists of Mwangi
1-35 Voice in the Void
2-15 Shades of Ice Part I
2-17 Shades of Ice Part II
2-19 Shades of Ice Part III
2-21 The Dalsine Affair
3-02 Sewer Dragons of Absalom
3-05 Tide of Twilight
3-09 Quest for Perfection Part I
3-11 Quest for Perfection Part II
5-04 The Stolen Heir

Anyone interested?

I backed the Thunderscape kickstarter and it looks like the PDF of their hardcover should be coming out soon. Who here would be interested in playing or GMing a Thunderscape game sometime soon? I'm just looking to get a vibe on how much interest there is. I'm very excited to see the product we've been waiting for for so long.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, go check it out here.

Quick question- how do I get the event coordinator changed for an existing event? Someone else is going to take my spot as event coordinator for a regular game day and I'd rather not recreate the event.

So I found my old WEG Star Wars books; I've had them for many years but I never got a chance to play with them before. I've decided I'd like to try D6; I may end up doing it in Star Wars or in a homebrew sci-fi setting.

My principal question is simply how do you scale encounters in a D6 system so they challenge the players without killing the party? In PF I just use challenge ratings, which is easy enough.

One of the biggest reason I love Paizo is because of their adventures. I prefer to adapt published adventures; coming up with new content all the time makes the GM's burden much higher and I just don't have the time to do that.

It seems a lot of other games just publish rules without producing much in the way of adventure material. As far as I can tell, Edge of the Empire only has one adventure available, for example.

I'd like to try something new, but I'm simply not willing to learn another system to scratch if there isn't much adventure material written for it.

Any suggestions?

Is it just me or is the BBEG at the end of the Dalsine Affair seriously overpowered for the lowest tier? I ran it with four players (pregen Rogue, pregen Paladin, 2nd level Magus, and 1st level Oracle) today and it was the closest I've ever come to a TPK without actually killing anyone.

Dalsine Affair:

Dalsine dropped the rogue in the first round, attacking while invisible with shocking grasp. Magus responded with hydraulic push, throwing Dalsine against the wall. Paladin charged, crits, and then gets dropped to -10 by shocking grasp #2.
Our oracle managed to bring the rogue back up in the meantime, to 1 hp. He then tries a touch attack and Dalsine uses shocking grasp #3 (using spell recall) to drop the oracle.

At this point I was sure that we had a TPK in the making, and I was running with a lot of new players, including one who had never played before at all, so I paused for a second, and explained, "now is a good time to run and leave your companions to die. This has TPK written all over it and at least two of you can survive."

The magus says, "Nope. We're not leaving. We're going down in a big blaze of glory."

So... my magus goes up and delivers a shocking grasp to the BBEG, and then the rogue (who is standing in a pool of her own blood, 1 hp), throws an alchemist's fire with a natural 20 and turns the boss into interior lighting, bringing him to -1.

They were so busy fighting over who got to do the coup de grace they almost forgot to start stabilizing people.

Overall, it was a rather epic encounter, and was easily the closest I've gotten to a TPK without actually killing anyone, but honestly, it seems like the burst damage this boss is capable of is just too deadly at this tier. It was a miracle that they didn't all die.

What do you guys think?

2/5

Hey everyone,

As far as the young caryatid column in tier 1-2, how are low level adventurers supposed to kill this? DR 5, immune to magic, destroys weapons it is struck with? It seems a bit overpowered for that low of a tier. I must be missing something.

2/5

Hey everyone,

I'm starting up a recurring PFS game day at my FLGS, and I had a few questions. There isn't any other PFS going on in my city at the moment as far as I am aware. I'm a fairly experienced GM in general but fairly new to PFS specifically.

First, if I have someone walk in partway through a scenario and express interest and I have room in the party, is it legal to allow them to join in with a pregen and play? If so, could they get a chronicle sheet? I'd hate to just turn new people away, especially if we haven't gotten very far into the scenario but I can't seem to find anything in the rules to cover this situation.

Second, does anybody have any suggestions on the best way to coordinate with other nearby groups in terms of scenario selection? I'd prefer to minimize overlap so if people from neighboring cities show up it is less likely to be a scenario they've played already.

I can't seem to remember my other questions at the moment, when they come back to me I'll post those too. I've been really enjoying PFS and I'd like to get things built up nicely here so I don't have to drive so far to play.

I heard that the Kingmaker map folio is really very useful for that AP. Unfortunately it seems to have gone out of print and the copy they had left at the FLGS is gone now too.

I'm thinking of getting it as a pdf and having it printed myself. What size are these maps? A3? A2?
