It's been nearly two weeks. I suspect this is over. Anyway I can remove the campaign from my list or is it just there now?

Kelrot goes with Saria as beckoned. He was a little disappointed that they wouldn't be seeing much of the soldiers but was starting to realize that may be for the best after participating in some of Saria's discussions with the merchants.

That these people seem to have no idea that they were surrounded by desert made Kelrot uneasy. Come to think of it, how quickly Axiom disappeared as they were leaving also made him uneasy. What is with this desert? Feeling Gruknuk's tug on his pant leg startles him, and he looks down briefly before going back to scanning the crowd looking for a potential threat. In a hushed tone so Gruknuk can hear.

I thought I had read somewhere scouts had left the city but not gone much further than a mile or so. I could definitely be mistaken though. Honestly I could have paid more attention during recruitment. It was my first try at getting into a PbP, and I wasn't really expecting to be chosen. Thanks for that by the way! Been having a blast so far.

Well should we just keep moving or should we find someone to talk to? Kelrot looks around unneasily, though after hearing Bianka's words he felt slightly more comfortable around these odd people. He smiles an awkward toothy smile to a child tugging on his mom's coinpurse. He still holds his shield on his left arm with his spear used as a walking stick in his right.

Lol I was just kidding about Aquan. We probably aren't even aware of its existence.

I would be fine learning Elven, but how common is that? Rashid definitely speaks it, and I wouldn't be surprised if Kozac and others did too. Goblin is probably least likely. Bianka is half orc too, so that's always a point against orc if she can speak it.

I would say Aquan is probably pretty uncommon around here

The most obscure language I speak is Draconic. We can always have Geesyl communicate to the elven speakers, and I can go between Gruknuk and Gorza since I speak both Orc and Goblin (lol at the fighter being tied for the most languages and for the highest int ). Probably better to just figure something else though. That sounds like a lot of translating

Kelrot's foot hovers just slightly before taking its first step through the gates of Axiom. As he hears the gates close behind him, he breathes a sigh of relief. I am finally free of that place. The thought exhilarated and terrified at the same time. He spent most of the rest of the day's trek silent and thinking.

The sounds in the night made him uneasy. He kept his sword near to him for a little extra comfort as he slept. Though sleep was hard to find, as the adrenaline coursing through him kept him awake in readiness for an attack.

As this apparent oasis comes into view, Kelrot squints through the desert sun to get a better look.

Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16

He looks over at Bianka. Hey what is this place? I don't remember anyone saying anything about an oasis village. He sticks his spear into the sand and shoulders his shield off his back and to a more comfortable position on his arm.

Are there any languages we all speak? I always like to have a shared language other than common in the group.

Xolani, you have always seemed to be a wise leader to me. I'll take your advice and keep an eye out on the expedition. If I ever make it back alive, maybe we'll talk. Kelrot shoulders through guards around Xolani and returns to his work.

Was kicked out of the guard a week before they arrived. Don't have anywhere to go. It's been a rough couple of weeks for Kelrot. He grew up poor and is now doing what he has to to get by before we leave.

Kelrot spends the next three days contained mainly in the Industrial District. He spends most of his time around Sal's bar. The days he spends drinking and eating whatever scraps Sal will give to him for work. During the nights he stands guard at the rowdy bar throwing out anyone causing problems. After his shifts he goes and finds a place to sleep in the alley out back.

If Cyrel, Dimas, Jezra, or Sino visit the Industrial District; Kelrot will show them around. He will take them to the best blacksmiths and leatherworkers to regear or repair before we leave. Afterwards he will invite them back for a drink at Sal's. The place gets rowdy, but these adventurers should be able to handle it.

When Kelrot shows up to meet the rest of the group three days later, he looks rather worse for wear. He looks a bit disheveled, having slept on the streets the last three nights. His bottom lip is swollen and bruised from an out of control patron. If asked about it, he just says, You should see the other guy. He won't be punching anyone again for a while, nor will he be chewing much for that matter... He pulls an apple out of his bag and takes a large bite out of it with a smile spreading across his face in remembrance, as he patiently waits for everyone else to arrive.

Kelrot wakes up with a splitting headache in a gutter in the Industrial District. Somehow, he still has all his possessions. What happened last night after the dinner? I remember leaving with a few guards I met, but after that I am at a loss... He gathers himself together working out a crick in his neck. He checks his coin pouch. Oh wow I need to make something over the next three days or I will be completely broke on my way to this trip. Maybe I'll go see Sal. He occasionally has some bouncer work available.

He started making his way over to Sal's to see if there was any work available, wondering where he would spend the next few nights.

Kelrot continues his conversation with Bianka for a few minutes. Then he turns to the rest of the group. So if anyone has business to conduct over the next three days we should look into that. Personally I am ready to go whenever we are ready. There is not much left for me in thish town. He says slightly slurring his words.

If there is an empty seat nearer to Bianka, Kelrot moves to take it in order to not interrupt the conversation he had previously been so interested in. Whatever prior shyness he had with Bianka was replaced by sheer fascination.

If I encounter one what is the best way to kill it?pointing at her battle axe I was never very good with the axe, but I can handle sword and board or spear and shield fighting. Will that be an efficient killing method?

Basically, any weaknesses or resistances that I could prepare to fight against? Or maybe if reach would be preferable to keep them at bay?

If she seems engaged in the conversation he will talk to her about these creatures, different styles of fighting in Alran and Axiom, how their militaries work, etc. If not he will return his full attention back to the conversation with the others.

Well, Kolret says, mildly taken aback by the shift in Lady Kozac's tone, I don't know much about being an ambassador, Before last week I didn't know about other cities, let alone what an ambassador even was. but you seem to be shooting straight with me, Lady Kozac. I am still very interested in going with your group. Is there anything you need from us over the next three days?

After listening to Lady Kozac's response, Kelrot turns to Bianka. Starting to get noticeably drunk, he has worked up more courage to talk to her. You have killed these things before? He asks, obviously impressed. What were they like? Any weaknesses or anything I should know of before going toe to toe with one of these monsters? His drunkenness has definitely boosted his confidence in this journey.

Kelrot's attention has now completely shifted to the conversation being had with Lady Kozac. The jovial nature he approached the table with has dissipated in favor of a more serious manner. "something wrong across the entire desert," she says. Well this day is just delivering more and more surprises. He thinks as he listens to her reply to Saria.

Lady Kozac is this threat what brings you to Axiom? We don't often get visitors here. Are your cities being attacked by whatever this is? Is guard duty all that you are going to need us for on this trip back to Alran?

I would be fine with that. I will most likely stick with Hmong for Goblin, but for the other languages that sounds great.

Went with survival but neglected Sense Motive. I may want to put some points in it later. I think this may be the least skilled character I have ever played lol.

The slight crackle of electricity at Korza's fingertips makes Kelrot jump just slightly. Looks like you will have yourself handled. Ever need any help though, come stand near me. I am a one man shield wall.

He turns to accept the meat from Gruknuk's fork. (In Goblin) Thank you, Gruknuk. I don't know what this is, but it sure looks damned good. It's not rat is it? Kolret jokes with a toothy smile.

As he takes a large tear out of the slab of meat, he turns back to Saria. I learned that from my childhood friend in the Industrial Quarter. For some reason Ma always insisted on me learning Draconic, and of course I can speak Orc.

Kolret's attention starts drifting more in the direction of Rashid and Lady Kozac. The conversation has finally started shifting in the direction he was waiting for. The why's, what's and most importantly: the when's.

Geesyl? Sounds vaguely familiar... anyways! It's great to meet you!He takes a large swig from the mug in front of him before continuing, My name is Kelrot. From the Industrial District.

His table manners leave much to be desired but are still not completely absent. He rests his elbows off the table but does not mind using his massive forearm to wipe his beard after every swig. After another large drink from his mug, he turns to Korza.

I don't know much about magic or what's beyond that wall, but my guess is we could run into some nasty stuff. You don't look too protected with just those bits of cloth. We ever run into anything too angry come stand near me. I can protect more than just myself with this baby. Kolret's large hand pats his worn shield that rests beside him, as he gives Korza a friendly wink and smile.

Just so everyone knows. If it goes down in combat, I can use my shield to also shield allies adjacent to me. Feel free to take advantage of the extra protection whenever you need.

Still mildly embarrassed from the non-interruption, Kelrot catches the eye of the towering half-orc for a brief moment. He immediately stares down at his plate with a toothy grin. "Gruknuk was it? Pass me some of whatever that meat is next to you if you please! He says as he looks up from his plate. Kelrot keeps one ear on the conversation being had with Lady Iryna. The new names and locations excited him for what was to come. So we all seem to know Lucatiel's story. What's everyone else's? What brings everyone here and what did you do before?

The day had begun with a trip home to see his mother. They had their recent troubles, but the goodbye was heartfelt. Things became tense when her boyfriend arrived home, so Kelrot kept the visit short. As he walked out of the Industrial Quarter towards the Speaker's house, he said his goodbyes.

The large half-orc stood probably a head taller than most others in the crowd quickly forming around meeting place. His black, scruffy hair and beard were trimmed neatly and well. His armor not quite match his otherwise manicured appearance. It looked as if he had spent the last of his coin on secondhand armor. The red paint on his shield was old and flaking. The chainmail shirt hanging over his immense torso and thighs had a couple broken links.

Throughout the wait he stood at a loose kind of attention while still managing friendly conversation with the rest of the group. Upon entering and seeing the feast, he moved respectfully but hurriedly towards his seat. I am starving! I have not had anything since yesterday morning! As Lady Kozac and Rashid approach, Kolret tries sneaking a bite of an apple. However the loud crunch is audible. A bumbling "A..apologies" stumbles out of his mouth as he quickly looks from Geesyl to Kozac and Rashid then back.

Kelrot looks over at Lucatiel. He appears to be measuring the half-elf up. "Hey I know you! Lost more than a few coin at the races because of you too!" He says with a wry smile.

Fluff:

Kelrot grew up a poor bastard in the Industrial Quarter of Axiom around where the smiths forge their iron. Kelrot's mother wanted him to be an apprentice to the smiths, but most of his childhood he spent using sticks to spar with the other children instead. He would watch as the city guards came in to pick up their beautifully forged steel in their elegant clothes and armor. Oh how he longed for a life like that! As he aged, his prowess sharpened.

When he turned 18 he applied for the city guard and was accepted into the training program. After training for about a year, Kelrot was let go under somewhat unknown circumstances. This crushed his childhood dream, and he decided to prove to himself he was worth becoming a guard. He cast his lot in with this mysterious caravan of newcomers to Axiom hoping to act as protection to get out of this town and away from his shame.

Kelrot is usually good natured and is inherently good. He has a slightly subdued nature; and like many that are drawn to being guards, he usually speaks only when spoken to. While his temper can bubble to the surface, he can usually keep it in check. He may snub the law in some regards (probably why he didn't make it long trting to be a guard) but is usually interested in doing the right thing. His competetive nature seems to work against him at times, but it has driven his martial proficiency.
