I appreciate the game, Dennis. One of the few author games I have gotten to play at and it was greatly enjoyed. Thanks also for putting up with my random and frequent absences from the game.

The grit flying all around them gets in Kastien's eyes as he struggles to keep an eye on Laboni.

Kastien took a deep settling breath before taking the weapons controller. His connection with the universe expanded so that the fiery bursts of stars was all he could see and feel. Letting that energy guide him, he opened his eyes and pressed the firing studs once, then again as he aimed to distract and deter, but not to injure.

Kastien manhandled fuel cells and a spare set of parts over to the racer as the others serviced the vehicle. One fuel cell dropped and hit the ground, but he muscled through it.

Seeing no one else manning the weapons, Kastien grabbed the controls for the grappler he had help install. "Here goes nothing," he murmured as he waited for the next turn. Seeing an opening, he fired off the grappler, only to watch it sail right past the target junkpile and bounce off the ground. Quickly, he hit the release button so it didn't snag on something and slow them down.

Sadly, TRYING is the operative word for Kastien these days.

Kastien saw the swaying pile and left Conrad to keep an eye out for Zark while he rushed to stabilize the junk pile. His team couldn't afford for the ysoki to get distracted - or worse, crushed by the falling junk.

Unfortunately, looking up at Conrad distracted him, and Kastien tripped over a loose stabilizer, then pinwheeled his flailing arms right into the already unstable pile of staked parts!

Kastien was trying to maintain eyes on the competitors to give Zark a heads up if needed, but kept losing sight of them as they crossed behind the piles of junk that gave the stadium its name. Frustrated, he leaped to the nearest one and began climbing. His footing was precarious, and more than once the tower seemed to start to topple, but still he kept at it.

Kastien is a bit at a loss for how to help in this leg of the race. He was good at punching things, and he could pilot a vehicle in a pinch - though Zark was surely better. About all he could do was play to the crowd and maybe keep a wary eye out for the other competitors.

"Search her for anything of interest, then let's report this. I'm not Ratrod's biggest fan, but if she was going to make sure he took the blame for all the mishaps and potential murder, then we owe it to him to let him know what is going on. Besides, there's a dead racer underneath his stadium."

Once more Kastien tried to swing at the woman as she moved past, and once more he was just too slow. Apparently his new pulse gauntlet was heavier than the old one, and he still needed to get used to it.

He had no intention of letting that stop him at the moment, though, as he followed Glimma, getting her between himself and Zark and striking out at the base of her head.

Kastien swung at the woman as she tumbled past him, but was too slow. She was already up and running by the time he recovered. Shifting into Graviton mode, he ran after her, giving the woman an opportunity to strike as he closed, in hopes that it would slow her down enough for the others to move in.

As the racer tried to move away, Kastien launched a quick jab with his pulse gauntleted hand. He then released his stored energy in a tumultuous BOOM!

Kastien moved up behind the robot called Sisro, letting the buildup of energies explode outwards, engulfing the robot and the nearby created in flame. He felt drained, the photonic energies gone. In the back of his mind he felt the darker energies of the graviton pulling.

Kastien, who had been trying to get behind the woman, cursed as she sprinted off towards the main body of the team, leaving him to run to catch up.

Kastien's eyes pulse with light as he shifts into his Photonic mode. He strides forward, gauntleted hand ready to throw punches and pistol raised to fire. Then he cautiously moves straight ahead.

Kastien nodded his thanks and sat down for a rest. While he did, he decided to focus his mind on the photonic concepts of the universe. Diplomacy was king in all things.

Once everyone had recovered from the fireball trap, Kastien headed down the ladder, motioning for someone with better eyes than him to keep close behind to keep a watch out for more traps.

The fireball catches Kastien completely unprepared as he was hauling back the hatch cover. Someone really didn't want to be followed into the tunnels.

Kastien staggered backwards, eyes blinking against the glare of the fireball. Every exposed bit of skin on him felt raw from the heat and burns. He was really not having a good day.

"Yeah, I remember seeing these around. Not anything I've ever had, but they were pretty popular back on the home world. i am assuming we are heading down through the hatch?"

Kastien is less interested in the meal replacements than he is in finding the person or group responsible. Oh and the race. They couldn't forget about the race.

Kastien waits for Zark to disarm the door alarm and get it unlocked. Once everyone nods that they are ready, with pistol in one hand and gauntleted fist cocked, he braces himself, then kicks open the door.

Kastien scratched his head and looked around. "I'm not really the coder type. But if that drone came from the maintenance shed in that video like the one witness claimed, we might be able to find more information there. I can lead a team over there if some of you want to continue scrolling through code."

Kastien continues to make his rounds, interviewing witnesses and generally building up a good rapport with the others at the track. It never hurt to have people like you.

once he completes his meditations, Kastien will take turns guarding the racer and interviewing witnesses.

Kastien will take the doctor's advice and rest in the green room. As he does he focuses his mind on the photonic nature of the universe, sharpening his senses and preparing for the tasks to come.

Kastien saw the grappler laying off to one side and figured that they could really use that for cinematic coolness. Hefting it up, he found a likely mount for it and then tried to attach it, to no avail. Stepping back, he realized he was trying to put it in upside down and flushed. Glancing around and hoping no one saw his error, he quickly flipped it upside down and hooked it onto the racer.

"Sabotage drone! Everybody clear the way!" shouted Kastien as he ran for the bot and leaped to try and tackle it from the air.

Kastien made his way back to the racer and looked around for something to do. He was trying to figure out how to broaden the firing arc of the ranged weapons when Conrad came up with a pair of what looked like gyro-stabilized actuators. Kastien used to help his kid brother used to make small turrets that automatically fired foam darts at anyone approaching his room. Kastien bet he could do the same thing here.

Kastien continued looking for good junk - as if there was such a thing - but mostly he was interested in the other racers and the trackside fans. Hey, it worked for them last time. After all, he was the one that got Laboni on the Starfinders' side the last time they were here.

As the others worked on the racer, Kastien moved around the field to find parts and talk with the other races and fans. It turns out that there is a lot more to finding good parts than simply picking up the biggest, most complex thing you can find.

Kastien shrugged and put the token in the slot.

Kastien held the token out, but kept a firm grip on it. "Are we sure this thing's legit? Or is it another way to scam us out of our entry token ?"

Kastien reported back, Not yet. Ran into some heavies. Might want to send a cleanup crew. Headed to the track now.

Aloud, he said, "Boss wants us to move along. Leave him for the cleanup crew."

Kastien looked at the symbol, then turned the card over and looked at it from another angle. Shrugging, he handed it back to Conrad and said, "No idea. Don't think I've ever seen anything like this design before."

The dark nimbus around Kastien dissipated as the combat ended, his eyes returning to their normal sheen. Looking down at the fallen, Kastien starts rifling through their clothing and pouches, looking for identification.

Kastien nodded to Conrad, then sprinted for the the android, his gauntleted fist slamming forward as if to punch straight through his foe's head.

Kastien grinned, as he enjoyed being at the center of enemy attention. It allowed his more combat-able companions to focus on defusing the situation - one way or another.

Datastick gripped firmly in his ungloved hand, Katien concentrated to coalesce gravitational energy around himself for added protection. Then the solarion brought his gauntlet around for a powerful backhand blow at the nuar that was the target of so much attention. Unfortunately, concentrating on his attunement and manipulating gravitational energies sent his fist flying well past his target.

AS the thug moved in to take the datastick, Kastien clenched his off hand. What had before looked just like a normal glove turned into a battle gauntlet and darkness moved around the solarian as he attuned with the hidden side of the universe. Kastien's gauntleted fist lashed out at his assaulter.

In case it wasn't clear, Kastien has readied an action to strike if one of the enemies tries to take the datastick or attack Kastien in melee.

Zark has the nuar spinning in circles looking for him before landing a well-placed shot from an unexpected direction. Lapodie, meanwhile, takes careful aim and lands a perfectly-placed shot of her own.

Kastien stepped in between the nuars and the rest of the group, the data stick raised in his right hand and his left balled inside his power gauntlet.

"Umm...I feel uncomfortable about this. Feel free to just skip me. "

A medical checkup was one thing, but a handsy bear in an elevator was the stuff media video shorts that haunt you forever are made of.

Kastien played through The Commencement

A stocky korasha lashunta with pale green skin mottle with darker green saddles and spots stood against one wall with a grin on his face. The power gauntlet encasing his left hand seemed to come and go as he subconsciously twiddled with a knob on its side. He is well armored, and carries it easily.

"Free Vesk 2, huh? Is that a serious commitment or are you practicing to blend in with no one wanting to make eye contact? Either way, good show. I am Kastien. A Seeker of Truth and follower of the Universal Way. Also, I like to punch things. "
