Getting to work, Karn seems to ignore those around him as he seems to want to earn his keep. Strength check:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 His shoulders still aching as he gets to work, he realizes that he is able to soften his muscle strain by adjusting his grip slightly, and utilizing different muscles throughout the day so that his shoulders and arms aren't as strained at the end of the day. After work, Karn searches for Sendara, hoping to learn more about the Priestess as well as the Priate Queen she worships and will also talk with the one-eared man in the bandana. Approaching the man, Karn says, "I don't believe he have had formal introductions. The name is Karn." Diplomacy:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Just letting you all know that I am in the middle of relocating to Shanghai for a summer internship. That and the laptop crapped out on me means that my posting will be very sporadic. I hope to get my hands on another laptop after I settle in, but currently looking for a place to live for the three months, so I can;t be too sure when that will be. Please feel free to NPC my character should my posting be holding up the action.

"Yes indeed. Truth be told, I think the men there were just thinking to show us new swabs the ropes when it comes to impromptu tussles. Guess they didn't realize that we have had more than our fair share of tussles." Keeping his eyes focused on Mister Plugg, Karn doesn't say anymore.
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
We will most likely still face the whip, but hopefully us saving the man's life will net us some brownie points for later. Might want to have someone else throw an intimidate on the man though to secure his silence. We can bluff the blood with the right roll and maybe a few aid another checks.

Taking a moment breath, Karn waits for the thugs to clear the hold before rushing over to the dying man. Seeing the injuries of his comrades as well, he says, "Gather around everyone. and hold the dying man down." With that he seems to hold his chest while he says, "May the divine presence of the Pirate Queen fill this room and echo with her healing light." Channel energy:1d6 ⇒ 6 With the man healed and their injures reduced, Karn says to the pirate on the ground. "Remember this day. Besmara saw fit to take pity on you. Should you speak a word of this to anyone or even think to confront us again, I'll make sure that your next brush with death will see you crossing to the other side to join Jack Magpie." Intimidate:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 With that, Karn rushes off to try and beat the second bell.

Reeling back a little with that last punch, Karn grimaces at their situation, sure, they had taken one down, but that would most likely mean at least the responsible one for doing that would be whipped...if the one cut even survived. That, and the world was beginning to swim a little bit as his eyes watered from the sting of the man's calloused fists. Resolute, he prays to Besmara I know I've still much to learn my lady, but these cusses aren't worthy to see what you can do... Getting a little angy at their situation, Karn verbalizes the rest of his thought, "But they are worthy of my fist!" before lashing out once more in an unskilled manner. However, his watery eyes and lack of fighting skill throw his aim wide. Attack:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Karn was about to shout something before being cut off as the air is knocked from him, stepping back from the blow, he sucks in enough air to shout, "Don't kill them or the captain will have your heads!" It isn't clear which side Karn was referring to, but he follows up with a balled up fist that flies out to reciprocate the punch that was delivered to him.
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
"Actually, I can't speak for my friends here, but I feel pretty well rested. Now if you gents would be so kind, the captain won't be too happy if he hears that you were not letting us go about our duties." Karn stays pleasant and smiles. Even though he was still worn out from yesterday with his arms still a little stiff. Deep down though, he just really wanted the sailors to go about their business and let them get their work done. Preparing himself for anything that might happen, he began to think of a special prayer. Should he have to use it, it would save them a lot of effort now though it would reveal is talent to those he would prefer didn't know. Diplomacy:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

"Well, for now anything you can tell us about the officers will be good. Nothing dangerous mind you, just anything that we can use to get on whatever good side that they might have and avoid getting the lash." With his fatigue catching up with him, Karn doesn't ask many questions outside of that. Additionally, we wasn't willing to ask more until he was certain that the woman could be trusted.
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Another worshiper of the Pirate Queen? This is indeed a good sign. However, remember to be wary. Still not sure who I can trust. Karn listens to Sandara's story with interest and shakes the woman's hand when it is offered. "Pleasure to meet you. My name is Karn Lathern. Truth be told, I hail from Magnimar, but always felt a calling to the sea. How I ended up in Port Peril in an interesting story, and one that is suitable over drink. However, I'm a little wary of the choices available as the last time I had rum, I woke up from the resulting stupor aboard this ship."

Karn recognized the beat up rapier anywhere, it was his reminder of his first mystical experience drawing upon his newfound faith, one that had saved his life. Taking the rapier, he worked to find a discreet way of hiding it until he could find a place to stash it. Intrigued by the woman, Karn asks, "So what do you feel safe telling a bunch of new recruits who are still learning the ropes of this particular ship? That and why all the interest in chatting with us to begin with when the rest of the crew seems happy enough to leave us be?" Karn phrases his question with genuine interest though this choice of words masked that interest with false distain. He was keen to make friends but not wanting to expose himself to the 'ears' that Louly mentioned. As he listens to what the woman has to say, he uses her answers to guage the woman who was so obviously interested in them. Sense Motive:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Bosun and his friend had raised good points. What was a ship without its captain and its captain without his crew. However, now was not the time nor place to discuss such matters, expecially when they couldn't yet be sure who in earshot could be trusted. In a barely audible whisper, Karn murmurs, "Now is not the time nor the place for such talk, unless you went to end up like poor Jack. Let us keep our heads down for now, see what we can learn about the crew. This is the most that the man named Karn has spoken to any of them since they found themselves on board, a sign of his disgust at the acts of cruelty they all had just witnessed.
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Karn was about to introduce himself to the man that Bosun was talking to but was cut off as the crew begins pushing them all up on deck. Watching and digesting what is being said, Karn looks at Jack as they explain his crime. Expecting to see punishment more in line with the man's crime, Karn watches as they tie the bound man. However, Karn was not expecting the next act as they throw the man overboard. Perception:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 Horrified as the man starts being dragged along the side of the ship, Karn nearly misses Mr. Plugg's reaction. Howevr, spot it he did and Karn's eyes narrow in disgust and dislike. There is a man whose only goal is to bring pain. As they hauled the carcass back on deck, Karn first gives a prayer to the poor man before thinking. Though I am new to this life, this is assuredly not Besmara's way. Should I survive this night, I swear to you oh Pirate Queen, that man and all on board like him will either learn what it means to be a pirate for follow Jack down to the depths. Since finding himself on board, Karn was content to simply do his tasks and learn the ropes of piracy. Now however, looking at the poor man's carcass before it was dumped to sea and seeing the reactions of the crew, he was determined to see Scourge and Plugg dragged to the same doom, even if it meant mutiny.

Feinting surprise that the woman talked with him, he looks to Bosun after the woman departs. "Looks like we are about to meet out first friend on this unexpected voyage", he says quietly just before they go back to their business, joining Bosun at the meet, feeling it would be better to have two present to feel out the lady's intentions. Before the meet, Karn does his best to execute stretches taught to him by Old Lander to combat his cramping arms.
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Daytime action would be mostly familiarizing myself with the ship. However, Karn's main goal is to start learning about the crew itself than the layout of the ship as it will ultimately be what friends he can make that will help in survival on the pirate ship.
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Looking at the bucket and mop that gets pushed his way, Karn gets to work. His voyage to Port Peril had been aborad a ship and the captain of that vessel wasn't want to have anyone travel free, no matter that the passenger was a friend's progeny. Finding a blank space on deck, the young man gets to work, whistling a lively tune as he worked. However, as the day progressed, the work began to take its toll and the whistled faded away to be replaced by a sweaty and soaked brow. The sandstone that followed was worse, the rough stone cutting into his had as much as it did its work on the wooden planks. Worn out from his work, he decided to take what breaks he could to simply chit-chat with the crew, putting up with any insults they threw at him to learn what he could of his new crewmates. Keep the man on his feet, unsure of my true skills. Exactly as Lander told me, Karn thought to himself as he waits for his next orders. The strong one can keep to the rigging and just wait until they see how I do at the helm. Just need to stay around long enough to show them what I can do. Noticing Louly's nervous gesture, Karn will wait until Mister Plugg has his attention on someone else before giving the woman a sincere smile. Making friends with those who will experience the same trials as myself is the first step to surviving Besmara's test.
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Making his way back to the deck, Karn looks calm. Before stepping off the final rope and facing Mister Plugg, Karn double checks to make sure the silver engraved holy symbol that hung from his neck was still hidden among the folds of his clothing. His relatively well-kept appearance only marred by the sweat from his workout, Karn wears durable traveling clothes following a Magnimarian style. He speaks rather eloquently and has had a solid education. In truth, he looks the type that would not normally be accustomed to travel on a ship, as evidence of his already rope burned hands. However, seeing the lad stand on the deck, it is obvious that this is not his first time on a ship based off of the way he naturally adjusts his weight to compensate for the rocking of the ship. He turns calmly to face the man with the cat of nine tails. Also looking around at the other new recruits, he mentally catalogs their capabilities. Those two might be capable. And the odd looking one, with the way he climbs, must have some hidden talent that goes beyond the physical, he thinks to himself. He was glad to be in an environment that would please the Pirate Queen, but he had a suspicion that it was also a dangerous environment. Any friends he could make could only work to his advantage. "What would you have of us Mister Plugg?" Bluff:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Bluff roll to hide his nervousness
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Looking at his situation, he didn't really want to become a rigger, or even a back up rigger. So, looking down on the deck below, Karn was about to cause a spectacle to save the men below further taunting until he saw them get back up and try once more. Looking to the woman next to him, Karn simply shrugs his shoulders as he continues to climb. Just as he did so, he heard the woman's cries as she slipped but was unable to grab the woman in the unaccustomed positioning on the rope. Continuing to climb, he covers another 10 or 15 feet before he too loses his grip, falling one or two feet before recovering and nabbing the rope of the rigging. Getting purchase once more, the admitted inexperienced man makes up his lost ground and then some before once more slipping and barely catching a loop of rope. Letting out a grunt, he once more attempts to recover. I knew that it wouldn't be easy to learn more of your lessons Lady Besmara, but I never thought it would get this hard so quickly, Karn thought to himself as he fought through the pain of his already rope burned hands and the throbbing of his head. Climb:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Looking up at the rigging of the ship, Karn frowns. His voyage to Port Peril had seen him helping out on the ship he had traveled on, however, the rigging was still a place he was as of yet, unfamiliar with. However, he wasn't one to give up on the chance to try new things. Spitting into his hands, the mans says pleasantly, "Come on gents. I'm not one for climbing, so you more seasoned folk should be able to pass me up with little trouble." For those who had spoken with the lad before, you can tell that his speech has returned to the educated rhythm from before. This man was certainly not the type to mingle with pirates. I am rolling with the assumption that we are unarmored. If that isn't the case, then please adjust the rolls compensating for an armored coat. Climb:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Following the others, Karn stays wary of the men both before him and behind him. As such, he keeps his eyes peeled for anything that these brutes might do. Karn works his mouth as he walks, trying to get the odd nutmeg taste out of his mouth. He had not had much experience working a pirate ship, nor had he ever been press ganged, but the young cleric had had enough experience to know that it was better to stay quiet until ordered to do otherwise. As such, he simply continued to follow along, not giving away much so much as a word. When Bendrauss speaks, Karn grimaces a little This man is not one for subtlety, is he? Perception:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Seeing that the others were not waiting to get questions answered and the sneer of the whip wielding man, Karn decides it best to get his questions answered later as he follows after everyone else. Besmara guide us all to our well-earned fate, was all he thought as followed the others up onto the deck, doing a mental catalog of his things as he went.
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
The drink had definitely been a strong one, for Karn's head still pounded, and the familiar rocking of a ship made his stomach shift with its toxic contents. These sensations helped to make the mans screeching commands not fully register with Karn's muddled brain. Attempting to speak, the Karn asks, "Esciuse me. How'd I get here?"
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Starting to panic a little, Karn calms as the bowl of stew arrives. Hopefully, just what I need to clear my head. I came here to learn of Besmara's Blessing and I have only succeeded in drowning myself in the pirate's brew. Though he could hardly taste the broth, he starts gulping down the food as quick as he could. However, it isn't enough as Karn leans forward slightly, his spoon hand hitting the table as he mutters something unintelligible before his face falls full on into the lukewarm soup. I am looking forward to the game
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Not liking the man's answer, Karn goes silent for a moment. He had originally come here to learn more about Besmara's Blessing. The strange feeling he had followed had definitely led him here...or had he just stopped in to ask for directions? He would think about it a bit after the room stopped spinning. Instead though, it seems he had just found a place to get drunk on double strength local brew. Thinking back, he hears Lander's words muffled through the same feeling that was now making it hard to speak. Watch fer the locals lad. Some just bee looking fer a free drink, but others be looking ta take more. Pushing his glass away, Karn nods at Bosun's response, "Mebbe some food w'll do some good." Waving to the barmaid, he waits for her to arrive before saying politely, "'Scuse me m'ss. Can ya plz bring out some food fer m' friend and I. This drink 's makin' me a touch hangry."
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Squinting away the tunnel vision, Karn closes his eyes, taking a seat across from the peg legged man he had just helped to his feet. Mumbling almost inaudible words, Karn places his hand on his own chest as he speaks. after a few moments of tenseness, he seems to calm and relax considerable, nearly sliding from his seat before doing his best to set himself upright. Looking to the man he had just helped, he says, "Perdon me. I am new ta the area and was wondering if the drink is normully sooooo strong." After his question/statement Karn simply stares blearily at the man, waiting for a response.
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
Seeing Bosun's tumble, Karn diverts his course, moving over to the fallen man and offering a hand up. "Are you all righch? That was a mighty acrobatic tumble you took theresh." An expression crossing his face for a split second, the man snaps out of it and helps the man to his feet if he is allowed to. Lander said this stuff was strong, but it can't really just be one drink can it. Once the man is too his feet, Karn extends his hand. "Pleasure to meet yoooou. Tha nam'sh Karn." Where are these extra syllables coming from? Without necessarily making the connection, Karn takes another drink of the rum, his face once more reacting to the taste of the alcohol, though not as sour as the last one.
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
After his rum arrives, the coated man takes a swig, his face scrunching up at the taste of the liquor, an obvious indication that he was not too familiar with the drink as a whole. Scanning the room, he notes a group group consisting of a darker skinned woman and a bearded man talking. Taking one more swig, he moves over with his bottle, stopping at their table and giving a brief nod, reminiscent of the usual greeting etiquette of one form Magnimar for those familiar with that region. "Greetings, my name is Karn and I just came into port. Mind if I sit with you a spell?"
Male Human Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness) / 1
The door to the bar opening, a fairly attractive, and clean, man steps into the common room. Clothed in what appears to be an a coat of thick leather with a rapier belted at his waist, it is obvious that this man isn't one of the usuals that visit the Formidably Maid. He looks around the room. Fair bunch of folk we have here. Just the type that might be able to provide some answers. With that, he moves into the room, his gait betraying some familiarity with the motions of the sea. Taking a seat and motioning for a bar maid he says, "I'll have some rum, please." Not the greatest tasting mess of a drink, but gotta follow with what I was told. Still working on some of the crunch, but couldn't help but start interacting.
Seeing Morvius' fervor, Karn assumes that he is a faithful of the Pirate Queen, smiling, he too joins the dice game, figuring what he doesn't know right off, he can learn along the way. Taking up the dice, Karn plops them in a cup and rattles them around before slamming the cup face down on the table. It is quite obvious that the man was new to the game as he tips the end close to him up to peer quizzically at his 'hand'. Dice roll:
5d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 3, 4) = 15 "Ahem, four fours is good, but you can't beat my 6 fives."
Finishing of the drink that Seijiro had provided, the young lad was already feeling a little tipsy. But sitting among such spirits as these, he decided to leave caution tot he wind just this once. "Lass, if you don't mind, how about another for me and my table!" Then, turning to those at his table, he continues, "All good tales to be sure. Shame I don't have much to match it. Like I said, I'm not an experienced sailor by any means, but I've seen my fair share of ship time. though really, by fair share, I mean the voyage here. As fer the voyage just told. Like I said, I am still learning about the wonders of Besmara's gift, but it sounds like the Pirate Queen snatched you form the sea's clutches she did." With the change in his speech pattern, it is obvious that the drink was starting to affect him as he leans in the direction of anyone talking at the table. "What do tha rest of you know of Besmara? I hear tha name thrown about, but I am always willing to hear more."
Listening to the stories of everyone gathered at the table, Karn nods slightly, as if affirming something to himself. With the stories going around there has to be someone here who can tell me a bit more about this blessing. Realizing that he had yet to tell his story, Karn clears his throat before saying, "Truth be told, I don't have the years of experience of some of you. My origins are from Magnimar, to the north. However, all the sailors I tell my story to speak of something called Besmara's blessing. I only recently began learning of the goddess and I am in Port Peril to learn what I can of this blessing and the strange events that have been occurring around me as of late. On my way here, the ship I was aboard was attacked by pirates, but some type of magical power protected me from the same pirate blade I now wear at my hip." Karn thumbs his rapier for emphasis. "I am here to further my studies of Besmara. If she truly does have a destiny for me, as all the Old Salts say, then I will not be one to avoid the will of such a divine power."
Taking a moment to realize that the kitsune was calling to him, Karn grabs his mug and slips off the stool. Making his way over to the table, the lad says, "Thank you for the offer." After taking a seat, the human continues, "My name is Karn. I just got into port on the 'Bold Mar'. Not sure what else to say really. I just came into sea travel recently. I do have to say though that I am taking a liking to it." Pausing for the briefest of moments, just long enough to take a drink for his dwindling mug and determining how best to phrase his next words, the man continues once more, "And where do you hail from? I must admit that I am not so accustomed to meeting such exotic races."
Stepping through the door is a lad in his early 20s adorned in an armored coat and a sheathed rapier hanging at his hip. Slightly cleaner than many of the other patrons, the man seems slightly out of place in the group of sailors and scallywags. He looks around the room, a little confused, as if expecting something that wasn't there. After looking around for a moment, he moves over to the bar and takes a seat, putting down some coin for an ale. Once the ale arrived, he takes a swig before his face sours. It is obvious that the man isn't use to drinking, but the way he had walked to the stool, to the experienced eye, it showed a man who had spent some time on a ship. After a few sour gulps, the man looks around the room, taking in the exotic races that were present in this room. He spotted the odd gnome that he had seen entering just before him, but it was the cat person that made him raise an eyebrow. Now I see why Lindu told me to keep an eye out. Spoiler: Character profile needs some work still, mainly with the crunch and the appearance and personality. Background should be finished though.

Listening to the two bickering about which idea was more sensible, Karn does the only thing that HE sees as the sensible tactic and sneaks his way towards a window to sneak a peek at what might be inside. Doing an excellent job of remaining unseen, Karn practically melts into the shadows of the trees as he approaches the house and uses his keen elven gifted vision to see what might be inside.
