Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Things are finished now, though not as I had hoped. I lost a major part of my life and as such, have had to reevaluate some peons of my life. I regret this, but I must withdraw from most of my campaigns, including this one. Thank you for the game and I hope it continues well for you.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

To all of my games:
A family emergency had just arisen. I will be unavailable for the next little while. I hope to have everything resolved and to return in a week. I am sorry for any inconveniences this causes. Feel free to dmpc me as necessary.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Kalethe moves up the stairs at a run, not bothering to speak with the others.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

I'm set.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe sets up near the bottom of the steps, but out of the way of being seen. I think we do it here in the library. He nods to Iana, Go for it, but don't stop here when you're leading him down. We don't want to give it away too early.

Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe shakes his head quickly. I didn't pay attention to it. He hands the prison map and points, It looks like we're here 22, and that makes this 25 his room. That's enough room to fight in, and I'd rather fight him unprepared. Unless, he looks around at the gathered faces, any of you can think of a way to bring him down here without being prepared to fight?

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe glances at the books but continues up to scout. By the time Dog Tooth had finished, Kalethe was back to report.

Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe, looks through the room quickly. He stops at the tapestry and gives it a small, discontented frown, then motions up the stairs. He takes the lead moving quietly up.

Appraise: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe nods. He looks at Dog Tooth, Shall we scout the way then? And without waiting for a response, Kalethe heads off to the rear door, and quietly pushes it open. He walks quietly along, hiding himself in the shadows and keeping his eyes to the wall for any guards. Moving around back of the keep, he makes his way to the tower in the southwest corner of the grounds.

Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Putting this part in discussion:

The biggest reason I want to take out the Warden is (and these are IC reasons as well):
1. He likely does not have a horn.
2. None of our interrogations have suggested extra guards in the tower with him.
3. I have no idea how to get to the man on the gatehouse without alerting him. So, I expect he will be blowing the horn.
4. If I have to face a mage, I'd rather face him without his meatshields.

And OOC, that's probably where all the best loot is.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe chuckles. Well, I'd imagine the warden might have some. I wouldn't mind thanking the old man for his generous hospitality here. He muses for a moment. I'd imagine, if we take the man by surprise we could get a surrender out of him as well. Maybe give him a brand. His eyes flash with hatred. When I was outside before, I didn't see anyone on the walls except for the man at the guardhouse. I think our men are either gambling, or we've taken out those who are supposed to be there tonight. He reaches up, rubbing the top of his head thoughtfully. I think we could go out through the kitchen door and make it to his tower without being seen. Dog Tooth and I should go first just to make sure it's clear. He looks at Dog Tooth questioningly. As he waits, he then snaps his fingers, Oh yes, and before we leave, Dog Tooth, would you mind opening these last 5 chests?

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe grabs some of the remaining manacles, shackling the three guards. He leads them into a cell and chains them to the wall, as he himself had been chained only hours before. Once they are chained and the cell shut, his eyes widen and he leans to the bars, speaking conspiratorially, I should let you know, that I intend to kill everyone here. It may be days before you are found and set free. I almost wish I could stay and see your faces as you starve. He turns on his heel and continues back down the stairs. Returning to the room where the off-duty guards were stationed, he begins to search.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe's eyes sparkle as if he were laughing. I believe we'll take a trip upstairs, but first strip off your gear. He brandishes the guard's weapon.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe grabs the weapon and glares at the man, We have you dead, so give up now.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe looks at Iana and nods. Let's go then. He opens the door, moving in and grabbing for the weapon of the nearest man.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe follows Iana. Once they join Grumblejack, he listens fire a minute as they talk, but before long he speaks up. Sooner or later, we're not going to get to the guards in time to stop them blowing the horn. He pauses, letting that sink in. There are three off duty guards here, but I doubt that will stop them if the horn is blown. Then they'll be ready for a fight. Now . . . Not so. The others are content to just pass them by, but I think you two would agree, we need to take them out. Even if we just manacle them and take away their weapons. Kalethe looks at the two, unspoken question in his eyes.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe laughs, striking out at the man. He kicks at the guard's legs, then punches fir the exposed face.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

1d20 ⇒ 13

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe, looks around, then quickly steps through the door, closing it behind him. He turns, grinning at the surprised guard and grabs at the horn.

I assume he's not actually holding it, so I shouldn't need a disarm attempt right?

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe looks around then nods, carefully winding the scarf back around his face. We need to do something. Tell them to approach him soon, but do not attack him until they are within reach, or until I slip in behind him. His eyes shine as he slips out the side door. Staying in the shadows, he slowly makes his way to the front of the building.

Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Kalethe seems reluctant as he begins unwrapping his scarf, but finally, he unwinds it and begins eating his food. As Ami speaks of his twisted nature, he shrugs, I think you are the twisted ones. How you can go through life without the extasy of pure pain. . . . he sighs contentedly, it seems like a waste. I may teach you some day. A wicked smile plays across his face as his gaze turns to the servants, But for now, can I please teach it to the lying one?

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe looks to Dog Tooth and Ami, So far, they've both behaved themselves perfectly. We'll see if one of them gives us a reason to eat his face later. Kalethe grabs some food then follows the others into the dining room. Ready to spring this trap when you are. Remember it's most important, he does not blow the horn.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

If we find something:

Kalethe drags the servants over. You pour the water over this. Put the fire out. No. With your manacles. Hop to. He claps with two sets of hands, the sound echoing through the kitchen. When it's done he turns to the servants, Now we're waiting for some friends.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe's eyes lift in a sort of mock smile, Good choice. Put those manacles on, he says to the far one as he begins to do it for the near.

Assuming they comply for times sake.

Kalethe grabs the chains of each set of manacles, looking them over to ensure both are locked. He drags the men to the next door, then turns back to Itzal, Tell Ami I've got two hostages. Tell her we'll narrow it down to one soon, just like she ordered, turning back to his new hostages he adds, You are now competing for the number one hostage spot. The other person dies. Let's see who can cooperate the best to win. He gives them a confident look and turns to the door to listen.

Bluff: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Dang you bluff dice! Someone remind me never to try being our bluff guy

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

We did it on purpose. See Ami's suggestion above

Kalethe looks at the servants with a cruel smile. He throws a set of manacles at the one who dropped a knife and moves over to the other, Surrender yourselves, or we kill you.

Throw Manacles: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 41d6 ⇒ 3

I was unsure how much damage manacles would do, so I rolled two kinds. If it's different, feel free to roll it.

Edit: Looks like it won't hit anyway. Oh well.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe laughs, If I get any burns, it will be because I put them there. Well, unless your coming Paul? Here we go. Kalethe smiles a toothy smile at the group, See you in the hallway. Wait for us to get there, that way we can come at them from different directions, keep them from blowing that horn. Kalethe steps forward and begins down the chimney, climbing, then jumping.

Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe looks at the unconscious guard. His eyes burn. He steps over to the man, kicking him in the face.

Coup de Grace: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6

GM Eats the Eyes wrote:
Kalethe pulls on the pile of "bricks," and a large sum of gold comes out, right around 100 pieces.

Kalthe shrugs, Well, at least we've got this, he says, shoveling the gold into the sack. As far as the chimney, I can go, and I think it would be a good idea. Kalethe prepares himself to go down the chimney. Handing the dagger over to Ash, and grabbing two sets of manacles and looking around, Anyone else coming?

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe moves up the stairs, getting around the first guard and flaking him with Iana.

Sorry, yes I do have the dagger, but I would have given it up at any time you asked. Kalethe doesn't plan on using it . . . for fighting.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe watches the guards, smiling at the lack of a horn. He waits for the guards to get up a little way, then, as quietly as he can, he jumps down and slips around the corner. He waits there for the ambush to begin.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe drags the dead guards over to Grumblejack's now empty cell. He then sets himself up, hiding just over the landing and he watches.

Take 10 for Stealth making 19. Take 10 for Perception making 18

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe looks to Paul, With this open stairwell, I think we could have some wait up here, and I could wait above the landing, in hiding. When the change of guard comes, I could jump down, cutting off escape while everyone else charges from the top. Of course if they've got a horn we'll go for that first. If not, we just slaughter them.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Did we find out about that wall?

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Yes, but he also said he'd lost a lot the night before, they're just as likely to assume he doesn't want to lose any more gold. And he said, 'right after guard change.' Kalethe shakes his head, If you all want to escape now, that's fine. But I think we have a better chance after change.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Is there a wall running along UV 20-23, or is that just open to the stairs?

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe looks up surprised, Yes we want to wait for guard change. We shouldn't wait longer than that, but at the change, Blackerly and some of the other guards will be engaged in a card game while they drink. It's worth the risk of a few hours.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe sighs as the screams fade to nothing. With a bounce in his step he drags the body to where the other one lies, removing the manacles. Kalethe follows suit, removing anything that might be of use. He repeats the information gained to the others then starts, Okay, we've got a few hours to prepare for the next set. What do we have? Kalethe looks at the veil, Looks like a rope, a . . . window, some bricks maybe, a potion and a . . . lantern. Maybe we're supposed to build a house? I could use the bricks as weapons, he says reaching forward and pulling them out. And this stuff. He pokes the pile of items from the guards with his foot.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Just so you know, what Kalethe wants to know is how long the man can survive this game. So if he does talk, you can feel free to just do whatever describing you want until the man dies (or somebody else stops Kalethe)

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe bends down, his eyes smiling. I'll take one of those daggers now, he says dragging the man to the back of the prison. He grabs one of the daggers, Let's play a game. You try to guess what I want to know. I'll stop hurting you when you're right.

The way my dice have been going, I'll take 10 on this for 13 and hope for the best. Besides in the end, Kalethe doesn't care about the info.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe looks down at their inert bodies. He twitches slightly, I--I'd like to keep one alive, to torture. . . . for uh information. . . . he looks around nervously for a moment, then bends down, shaking one man, and crushing the windpipe of the other.

?: 20 - 1 = 19

DC 1 Sense Motive:
He doesn't care at all about information. It seems he just wants to torture the guard.

Coup de Grace: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2

C'mon. This has got to be a joke.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe reaches out, trying to grab the horn from the guard. He wrestles with it a moment before letting go, unable to grab the horn.

Disarm: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Bleh. Seriously?

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

That's good. Thank you.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

I can't move my token from my phone, could somebody please move me to . . . Looks like Z15 (the letters are misaligned on my browser, but I think that's how it's supposed to be). Right by the door.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

What were the blades by the way?

Kalethe nods, he drops the blades if no one takes them, moving silently towards the door. Stands next to it and signals to the others that he is ready.

Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe, now slightly jittery with anticipation, looks around, I agree. Waiting would be best. Also, did anyone want these weapons? he pulls the blades free of the veil, handing them to whoever claims them, I would be less effective with these than my bare hands.

Edit: Below is added.

Kalethe tilts his head as if realizing sobering. He looks up at Grumblejack. Are you injured?

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe grabs a set of clothes and begins to strip down immediately. As he takes off his shirt, a mass of interweaving scars appears, completely covering his chest. He sena completely unconcerned about being naked, though he hastily grabs the scarf accompanying his clothes and winds it around his mouth. He finishes dressing, then stands, Let's make all our preparations now. Anyone who needs a weapon, grab one. Suiting his words, Kalethe grabs a couple leg bands, hefting two of them in separate hands. We could cause a distraction to call the guards, but their sure to be suspicious if we do. We could also lie in wait for them to patrol again, then surprise them. I am happy with either.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

I'm still taking 10 on perception, so I assume I see what Ami saw.

Kalethe smiles as he hears the conversation on the other side of the door. The elf has the right of it. We should try to make our full escape then- he pauses as the little creature, Dog Tooth climbs over him, freeing his arms. He shakes his them, slapping them against one another, and lightly pounds his chest. Ah, much better. Now that he's free he actually turns to face the others. We should still wait until the change of guard. I was able to hear them coming before, and believe I could again. We should stay by our chains, then pretend to be in them when they come. But as soon as there is a change of guard, we should strike. We could wait for their first patrol, then sneak to the door. Step through, you, he points to Ash, can use your sleep, I will attempt to pull it from him, the rest focus on killing. Between all of us, we should be able to make quick work of two guards.

Edit: Below is added

Kalethe pauses for a moment. Or, I guess we could probably take these two now, and when the guard change happens take the other two. Then begin escaping.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe simply nods, then sits silently to wait and listen

Taking 10 for 18 on perception. If I can't hear the guards coming while taking 10, I can't count on hearing them.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe looks at the Iana, I think we ought to wait till at least after the first patrol before unlocking any cuffs. Just to see how well they check. He turns to the elf, Are those spells? I'm not sure what they do, but I'm sure you can use them effectively. . . .

Sorry, Kalethe's not very familiar with magic. He knows it exists, but that's about it.

At this point, I vote we fast-forward to the next patrol, any other thoughts?

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe shakes his head slowly, I think if we want to find out, we'll have to wait and see. In fact I think that's the next step. He pauses, thinking. I think we should watch and listen for at least eight hours to see if there's a pattern, if we can hear the guards coming, when they switch. He looks around, waiting to see the others thoughts on this.

Male Arctic Elf Magus (Spell Dancer)

Kalethe's eyes widened, You mean . . . Oh. Is there a key or . . . or . . . Kalethe strains looking at the veil, There, are those lockpicks? Can anyone use them? He stops for a moment, thinking, But don't do it yet. We need to plan first. One good attempt is worth ten haphazard attempts.
