Kaitanu turns around to see a thug enter the tower. He takes a step towards the corner to create some space and then fires another arrow.

Just before they run to the north tower, Kaitanu hears the thugs coming out to the south.

"I guess we needed to be more patient. Let's use their poor judgement against them," he says as he moves back into the tower and over to the arrow slit facing the entrance to the central tower. He takes aim at a thug and shoots his bow.

"Thank you, Malaika, for healing me. It looks like Ziggy has decided we are moving on. Let's step outside and get ready to run to the north tower."

The remaining 3 move outside to the edge of the tower, preparing to run to the front of the next tower. All will double move to north tower next round. Kaitanu followed by Malaika and then Tsadok.

Looks like running to the nearest tower was a mistake. Based on the attacks, there's 2 thugs in the central tower firing and 1 in each of the surrounding towers. If we move to the north tower first, both thugs in center tower might not get to fire at us (unless there are more than 2 in there.)

Or we can just rush the center tower. Maybe have Tsadok use the body of the thug we killed as a shield to draw fire, then we make a run for it.

Any thoughts?

Are there arrow slits in all of the outward-facing walls? Assuming there are ...

Kaitanu moves to an arrow slit in the SW wall, ready to fire an arrow at any thugs he sees outside.

"Malika, take the thug's crossbow and watch to the north. Tsadok, check to see if there is a way into the tower from here. If we can't get in from here, I think we should move counter-clockwise through the outer rooms to thin out the number of enemies before trying to get into the main tower," he says as quietly as possible.

Tsadok moves to the NW wall to search for a secret door.

Surprised to find himself in the room alone, Kaitanu takes a step backward towards the corner to create some distance between himself and the thug and shoots an arrow at him.

yeah, i was hoping to finish him off so you didnt have to use the last one. They are immune to piercing damage so hopefully we will be able to engage them in melee. there is still enough balm to coat 6 pieces of ammunition.

Holy weapon balm: This violet balm comes in a small ceramic pot. When applied to a weapon as a standard action, it forms a transparent coating. Weapons coated in this balm deal an additional 2d4 points of damage to undead or evil outsiders. A creature affected by the balm must succeed at a DC 10 Reflex save or take an additional 1d4 points of damage the following round. Any non-magical weapon coated with the balm affects incorporeal undead or evil outsiders as if it were a magic weapon.

Kaitanu moves over to the altar to grab the jar. Not wanting to waste the balm if it doesn't work, he applies it to 2 of his arrows.

Looks like it will coat 10 arrows. I'm concerned it's a piercing weapon issue so I'm not sure it will work. But willing to try so we don't have to climb all over to get them.

Lets do this systematically and maximize our chances of success. Based on GM's post, we need to do each chest individually. We've searched the first chest. Continuing down the list, Ziggy should search while the rest of us aid him and Tsadok will cast guidance. Then I will try to unlock or disable traps.

Kaitanu whispers to the others, "I'm not sure I like doing his dirty work for him, but we don't have 6000 gold and we need to find out where this Nessian fellow is. I'll give it a try. Let him know we will try and find out where they are. Try to figure out what he's really up to."

Use sense motive. When we are at the safes, I will remove my armor to remove -1 penalty and have Tsadok cast guidance on me before every attempt. If I am able to take 20, it would give me 29, otherwise...

Kaitanu looks at the chest of poison. "Let's dispose of this properly before it gets used for the wrong purposes. It seems we were able to get here in time. I hope we continue to be so lucky."

"Unless there is something else we need to attend to, where can we find this code book you had stolen?" he says as he looks around for any more light signals.

Seeing that his arrows are useless against these creatures, Kaitanu drops his bow and pulls out his mace. He then positions himself so that he may be able to attack the last one if his companions dont finish it off first.

Kaitanu shrugs his shoulders and shakes his head no as he whispers, "No idea. I hope our Aasimar friend there can help with them. Unless someone has a better idea, why don't I try to get into range to take a shot, then hopefully draw them back towards here where the rest of you will be waiting."

Kaitanu moves counter-clockwise around the NE pile of grain to try to stay out of sight for as long as possible. He then moves just inside the north room and waits for an opportunity to take a shot at the figure on the right.
