INACTIVE - GAME DIED

24 days without a post, this game is dead.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara stays in the rigging, listening for her captain's orders.

Any skill checks needed from me yet?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Yes? Is this thing on?

*flops on Nivian*

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Oof, so sorry to hear it.

I'm ready to go whenever!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"The galleon's lost its rudder. They're not going anywhere - we can deal with the drakkar first, they still have some fight," suggests Johara from up in the rigging.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

* salute *

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

That's fine with me as long as we can keep goin'!

There are a few other archetypes that get hexes, if they count as "witches" for the purpose of a coven that might be distinct enough. The shaman class and the hexcrafter magus come to mind.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Hmm. I could VMC witch, I guess. Playing as a witch doesn't really fit the vibe of Johara's backstory, it would be a significant character rewrite; if I did that I might as well make a new character.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Thank you for all of your efforts GM. It is a truly Herculean effort to keep a forum campaign rolling!

I like this crew and would be happy to look for a new GM if people are so inclined.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Still here.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"All right. Maybe we can gather some rumors - some of the dockworkers have to have overheard conversations from the dockmaster and the captain, or gotten orders about supplies to load or unload... someone has probably heard something about why that ship is here in port, or will by nightfall," says Johara.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Yaaay! We're back! * hugs her captain *

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Johara is stuck on the ramp outside the lookout post, as the triumvirate of captains take a look. She peers this way and that, unable to get a good look at the huge ship, but a look of concern crosses her face. "Why haven't they started bombarding the cove?" she wonders aloud.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Now we just need to find our missing GM!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Checking in - still here!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara enjoys the time off-ship, even dancing with the crew for a bit and for everyone's entertainment. Afterward, she likewise enjoys the fresh fruit, but does not stray far from Nivian's side.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"I can make anything work," says Johara lightly. "A little color sure won't hurt!"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara moves about the deck quietly, always keeping busy, avoiding spending more than a few moments in any one place. She keeps an eye on the new recruits and says little.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"What was that?" says Johara suspiciously.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I described what I was doing through the night in a private message to Nivian. Oooh la la!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara pauses only briefly before she moves on swift feet to the kitchen to fetch a rum-cask and several mugs to pass around.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara loves everyone! Except the people whose throats she cuts. They can die in shark-infested waters.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Hey, welcome back, Nivian! Good to see you again. :)

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I think that's our captain-trio then? Ready to maroon and move on?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"I'm reasonably fine with that idea," says Johara with a shrug.

Just as an heads-up(for all my games): In less than 24 hours from now, my second child will be born.

I took a one-month leave from work to stay at home, so chances are I will have opportunities to post.
But between bonding with the little one and keeping the bigger one entertained, my posting patterns MAY be erratic at times, which is why I feel it's fair to inform fellow players(and GM's).
Only the faster-moving games will find a need to bot me, I hope, but if I am responsible for delay, do move on.

But congratulations tho!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"While poetic, it wins us no money and no reputation," points out Johara. "The Chelish should learn to fear us, but there must be someone left to tell the tale."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara sidles up next to Nivian and leans against her captain, one arm snaking up Nivian's back to her shoulder. "Their captain, at least, has the look of a man of some influence. I suspect they might pay well for his return," she says. "His crew? I doubt they have much value. Besides, we'd have to go to the slave market if you wanted to sell them in that fashion. And THAT becomes an entire other risk all its own... as I know only too well."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

DM/Nivian:
That's a really good point, if we can repatriate them, so much the better. If their home village was razed when they were captured, we can at least give them a new life.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Captain... does anyone speak Polyglot? Or whatever language they speak? I think they know we might free them... but it will be difficult to have them aboard ship if we can't communicate," says Johara.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

DM & Nivian:
I presume we want to offer some of the slaves a chance to work on our ship, or they can go their own way next time we put into port?
Is there anything else we need to do with this vessel at this point?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara nods to her captain and moves eagerly and quickly to the ship's hold to find their human cargo and liberate them.

"This ship has been captured," she says as she works, severing ropes or searching for the keys to unlock manacles, and picking locks where necessary, "and you will no longer be its merchandise. The captain will explain your choices, but they will be your choices to make."

She works diligently, patiently, never stopping until every one of the captives is freed of ropes and chains. Then, and only then, does she finally straighten and look up at Nivian again. "Thank you. Freeing them has freed me."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

At the mention of always having more savages to take, Johara straightens angrily and says tensely, "Slavers?"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Post destroyed due to board error.

Johara lashes out at the same pirate as before, turning in a full pirouette before ending with her scimitar curved across her body and her free hand over her head.

Scimitar attack, dervish dance, heroism, flanking: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 23
Scimitar damage, dervish dance[/dice: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara slashes out at the sailor between herself and the Nightmare man.

Scimitar attack, dervish dance, heroism, flanking: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 21
Scimitar damage, dervish dance: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6

Then she twists and steps slightly back, hopefully out of reach of the manticore.

Attack, then 5' step.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara steps slightly to the side to engage one of the pirates attacking the tremendous Nightmare Man and hopefully take some pressure off of him.

5' step, begin battle dange, attack

Scimitar attack, battle dance, heroism: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 23
Scimitar damage, battle dance: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Climb: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Johara shimmies down the mast and rushes to Nivian's side, drawing her scimitar as she goes.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Lacking a way to get airborne, Johara takes cover behind the rigging.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara frowns slightly as the winged beast launches itself into the air. How does one fight such things? Well, she'd worry about it later. She shimmies and twists and prepares herself for battle.

Casting heroism on self.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara salutes, then coils a rope around her wrist to aid her balance in the rigging.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Screwing everything up as usual: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Johara manages to get herself tangled in the rigging and fails to help close with the enemy ship.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Fight or swim seems to be the law of the ocean," says Johara. "I'm sure at least one of them has some fight in him. Or her."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

If nobody posts for several days it's usually a good sign that the players are lacking direction and need the DM to nudge them. I know that when I run here I will sometimes make a post that leaves it up to the players what they want to do next, but they get indecisive and then I make a follow-up post saying "You could do this, or that, or the other thing, or come up with some other idea," and have them vote.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Still here, just waiting for updates.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Aye, cap'n," shouts Johara from the rigging. "Set sails portside, pursuit form, tack to their fore!"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

If the place has a rep as being uncrackable, it got that rep somehow. I agree that we probably need a cunning plan at the least, and plan + better skills if possible!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara slides down the mast and makes her way to the captain's deck.

"Cap'n," she says to Nivian while Sandman is nearby, "that was a hard chase for a lot of fish. Is there any way that we might be able to figure out where we can chase down a richer target?" She tosses a scarf back over her shoulder and waits with her hands on her hips, unsure of the best way to find a more lucrative cargo ship.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I certainly won't stand between an original player and the game - assuming you're willing to support this number of players, Mr. DM!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Johara leans from the mast above, hanging on to one of the lines as she stretches out at an angle to watch the unfolding drama below. Her silken outfit waves in the breeze like a bejeweled flag.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Whipping her way through the rigging, Johara shouts out as well. "All right, monkeys, if you're currently starboard, you're off shift! Everyone else spread out to cover for the next three bells. And get your gear in order!"
