Hey everyone, sorry to slow things down. Back from vacation and catching up. Will try to get a post in gameplay tonight.

I’m on vacation until Sunday. Will post if I can but may not have much free time until I get back.

Hey everyone, sorry for the delays. Life has just been a little full recently and I expect it to continue to be so this weekend with paizocon. I'm heading on vacation June 1-6 (should still be able to post but it may just be a little delayed) and then return to normal after that. I'd still like to play but let me know if I'm slowing things down too much and I can drop out and give my spot to someone else.

I'll try to get my swashbuckler built tonight or possibly tomorrow.

Btw, I think I'm going to play a Swashbuckler instead of an Oracle. I just can't seem to find an Oracle build that feels exciting to me. This will likely change our healing options substantially so fyi everyone.

30 gp is the standard amount according to the CRB. PFS characters gain wealth a little faster than the standard, I think.

Starting Cash level 2 lump sum = 30g to buy stuff with.

GM, just double-checking that this is correct? In a normal PFS progression you would start with 15 gp and earn about 14 for each scenario to get to level 2 (plus downtime earned income, but less any consumables used) so this seems a bit low but no worries if that's what the mod says or just what you want to do.

I've shifted my thinking a bit and am now thinking that I'll build a kitsune oracle, so I'll be able to do some healing (though honestly I think probably being trained in Medicine and have a healer's kit seems to be one of the few 'must haves' in PF2 for just about every character).

Let us know when you decide which mod you settle on so that we can build our PCs to the appropriate level.

I haven't played Plaguestone (or any of the modules yet) but I'm glad that the designers have made PF2 challenging. By the end of PF1 I found that there were way too many scenarios that were too easy for an even somewhat optimized group.

Of course, these could be famous last words! :-)

I haven't played any of those and am open to playing any/all of them.

Looked at the Kitsune options last night and I'm thinking about building a sorcerer. Would that fit with what we already have?

Ok, so kitsune but otherwise within the constraints of PFS? And what level? I'll start thinking about what to build...

I'm noticing that one of the weird things about this new online boon system is that the reporting system has a new kind of weight, where in the past you could just rely on your physical chronicle sheets and not worry about it too much if there was a discrepancy between the sheets and paizo's online records. What I mean is: since the reporting system thinks that this scenario is assigned to a different character of mine, it won't even let me look at the chronicle boon, let alone download it, for the character I actually assigned it to. And presumably the same will be true in the future for any reputation-based rewards that he wants to "purchase." I know you've sent an email to the reporting system to change it GM - many thanks - but I mention it here as a caution for everyone.

Sure, I'm interested in continuing to play, but I'm not sure what you have in mind? Personally, it was hard for me to really wrap my head around the idea of Jadren being a kitsune (especially since he was already built) so if we want to move ahead with an all kitsune party then I should probably just go ahead and build one from scratch. But then are we talking about a home game outside of PFS? Or running something in campaign mode (can that even be done with regular scenarios?)? I've actually never had a chance to play an AP so I would jump at the chance to do that but I don't know if that's along the lines of what you are thinking and that's a big commitment for you (and everyone else too).

I'm sure you will all agree, once you've had a chance to study the subtleties and nuances contained therein..." Jadren pats the parrot fondly on the head. "I'm sorry I wronged you - perhaps I can make it up to you - how would you like to be our new ship's mascot?"

The only thing I need (beyond final reactions in gameplay) to complete your chronicles is what level your characters are that I will be assigning the chronicle towards.

I can't remember what I wrote down on the sign in sheet but I'd like to assign this to Fyn N' Gyn, 100198-2003, who is currently level 2. I assume there's no Reputation for this, but if there is, he's Envoy's Alliance. (And I also assume no Downtime?).

Thanks for running! It was very interesting to get a chance to see how the game plays at a bit higher level. And y'all were a great group to play with, though I'm sorry that I was sometimes too busy to fully do my part with the roleplay side of things.

Before he can continue through the doorway, he notes Ellen's comment and nods in agreement. "Aye, we should return both the sword and the spear."

He glances down at their bloody wounds. "And perhaps we should take some time to heal ourselves..." Don't want to bog us down if this is actually nearly the end of the scenario, but if there is potentially more combat we should probably do some healing.

Also, good catch about Jadren not having a free hand - makes me realize that sword and board is a very limited play style in some ways, though I suppose you could build around a buckler if you wanted to.

Since Jadren didn't have his shield raised last round, I think the only reaction he could have used is Reactive Shield, which would have raised his AC to 25, but that wouldn't have actually changed anything. I don't believe that Jadren can actually use his shield to absorb some of the damage in this situation (though I may be mistaken about this) so unless I'm wrong I'll just assume he takes the full hit

Did the skeleton take a guarded step, or simply move? If the former, that would have provoked an AoO from Jadren (which would also have meant that he no longer had his reaction available to Shield Block)

Seeing Prince Ellen at death's door, Jadren rushes past the skeleton to her aid. (Hoping it doesn't have the ability to take AoO's! So far in PF 2e, everytime I've gambled on that, I've lost - fingers crossed this time...)

So, a couple of rules questions: 1) is there increased movement cost to moving up the stairs? 2) If I instead went "around" and tried to jump up to the platform, what sort of check would that be and would I have to use a separate action for it? It looks to me like, even with no added movement cost to climb the stairs, it is still 25' for Jadren to reach Ellen, and his movement is only 20, so he will need to use two actions regardless.

Once Jadren reaches Ellen's side, he quickly lays his hands upon her. "By the power of Iomedae, arise! This is not punny at all!"

Jadren strides forward, longsword and shield drawn, ready to go toe to toe with this foul undead mockery of their departed captain. "By Iomedae's sacred britches, the undead parrot was merely a portent of the horror to come!"

Prince Ellen, good catch. It does indeed appear that per the map we were supposed to leave the blade and the spear behind. Going by what the other plaque said, I'm guessing maybe that means were supposed to only take the rapier (which I think is the one weapon we didn't take)? Oops. Not sure what we can do about it now...

Jadren starts with alarm when he hears the ticking of Dev's coin. "We had best hurry - I think this fiendish parrot may be getting ready to do something. Gods, how long shall it torment me, what penance must I perform? Parrot, forgive me!" Then he hurriedly grabs the magical spear.

Jadren already has a +1 striking longsword so he'll take the spear, which can be thrown, unless someone else wants it. Based on the plaque, we should probably take all three of these weapons, just in case they are needed.

Jadren stares at the parrot, unblinking. Iomedae is testing me. She knows that I know that - by her power - I have already slain the parrot. Perhaps she is asking me to deepen my understanding of the mysteries of the undead, the better to (re)slay them with. Aye, that must be it. I must advance into the test. Fear not the parrot. Fear not the parrot!

Never breaking his staring match with the undead avian construct horror, Jadren advances into the room until he can pause to read the plaque aloud to his comrades. "Honor the weapons, eh? Well, what have we here? I will look around as long as someone will keep an eye on the feathered monster." Jadren turns to examining the contents of the room to see if any of the weapons are particularly noteworthy.

Jadren starts heading to the left and then stops short when he spies the clockwork parrot. "But, but... it lives? I mean, not lives if you know what I mean, but I thought it was dead! I mean, not dead or at least not anymore dead than it was already, which I guess it couldn't have been if it was never alive to begin with, but still I smashed it! Didn't I?"

Hey, sorry for the delay - I've had my four year old with me for almost all of the past couple weeks. Things should be starting to return to normal now (i.e. 50-50 custody). I'll try to catch up on the story tomorrow and make an in-character post.

Ah right, Lay on Hands. Not sure how I missed that! Or, in that case, why paizo decided that he should also have taken expert proficiency in Medicine...

Jadren has expert proficiency in Medicine but somehow doesn't have healer's tools. I assume this is a paizo oversight but is it ok if we assume that I bought some before we left? Assuming so...

Jadren attempts to heal his and Dev's wounds, starting with his comrade.

Treat Wounds, Medicine DC 15: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Healing (crit success): 4d8 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 6) = 15 Dev is now at -4 hp

Treat Wounds, Medicine DC 15: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Healing: 2d8 ⇒ (2, 7) = 9 Jadren is now at -12 hp

You spend 10 minutes treating one injured living creature (targeting yourself, if you so choose). The target is then temporarily immune to Treat Wounds actions for 1 hour, but this interval overlaps with the time you spent treating (so a patient can be treated once per hour, not once per 70 minutes).

The Medicine check DC is usually 15, though the GM might adjust it based on the circumstances, such as treating a patient outside in a storm, or treating magically cursed wounds. If you’re an expert in Medicine, you can instead attempt a DC 20 check to increase the Hit Points regained by 10; if you’re a master of Medicine, you can instead attempt a DC 30 check to increase the Hit Points regained by 30; and if you’re legendary, you can instead attempt a DC 40 check to increase the Hit Points regained by 50. The damage dealt on a critical failure remains the same.

If you succeed at your check, you can continue treating the target to grant additional healing. If you treat them for a total of 1 hour, double the Hit Points they regain from Treat Wounds.

I'm not sure how the two elements of this that I've bolded are supposed to interact. Every 2e game I've played so far has assumed that you could only do Treat Wounds once/hour, but the second bold statement seems to suggest that you can keep going as long as you keep succeeding?

As an aside, I have a four year old daughter who probably uses the phrase "Bad dad joke!" to me at least ten times a day :-)

Jadren had always fancied himself a decent swimmer. But he wasn't. At least not this time.

Jadren gazes at the map fragment but finds it difficult to read through his tears - whether he is weeping for the deceased mechanical parrot or for his memories of the Magnimar twins is difficult to say - but the issue is easily resolved by handing his fragment to the others, who have somehow remained clear-eyed. Jadren eyes them judgmentally through his tears before pulling out his prayer beads.

Sorry for the posting delay everyone. I'm a bit slammed with childcare and work for another day or two. Will post as soon as I can. Thanks for your understanding.

Jadren is still trying to wrap his head around the idea of a stirgeyman - the others are laughing but as far as he can tell it sounds like a very promising way to help spread the word amongst the bugs - and don't they need it as much as anyone?!? - when he realizes how the barmaid has mistaken his offer. He turns beet red and begins to stammer, "No, don't you know, I've promised myself to Iomedae, oh how awkward, it's not like back in our pirating days, dontcha know, not that we talk about those if we can help it - I don't think Iomedae is listening but ye never know..." he trails off lamely, face as red as a burst tomato.

When Devereaux brings up the twins of Magnimar Jadren hushes him loudly. "Everyone knows that what happens under Underbridge stays, well, under the Underbridge!"

But when the mechanical parrot begins to screech about the twins to the entire bar the poor fellow looks like he might have a seizure. He grabs it by the throat and tries to "turn it down."

Craft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Lol! Does the entire scenario fail if the parrot explodes before we can get the mission briefing!?!

Unfortunately, parrot necks - even mechanical ones - are rather flimsy. "Iomedae forgive me, what have I done?"

Jadren looks puzzled. "Truly that would be an amazing miracle - Iomedae be praised - but I have never seen such a thing. Teach me its name!"

Jadren seems different from when the others last saw him amidst the wreckage of the Brass Bird. It doesn't take long to realize that he has come down with a severe case of religion, the Iomedae strain, and while he is as warm and friendly as ever, his once-ribald toasts now all seem to turn into bar sermons which, to tell the truth, are the worst kind of sermons. It won't be long before he starts inviting the barmaids to services.

A big strong fellow comes rushing up, huffing and puffing. "Sorry to be late! Hope I haven't missed anything..."

I'm here and my pregen is loaded into the profile - will get caught up on everything when I get a chance.
