As a standard operating procedure, if combat is over and there is no other pressing challenge, Isan will always use his stabilize spell to automatically stabilize any dying person, friend or foe. Just so the others don't have to make rolls that might fail and waste their time. If the party wants to kill someone, they either do enough to kill them outright or they will need to coup de grâce. That sound fair?

And to answer the GM's post, you are doing just fine. I know I am slower on my postings than the rest of the group, and my apologies for that, but right now that is about as often as I can.

Isan moves to help Reillana to her feet. "Forgive my manners. I should have helped you up sooner. You must be disoriented after that. Take your time." he says with concern.

As the group begins to follow the man, Ulyi rushes past them to bite at him, and Isan curses himself inwardly, "Damn! What did I miss in the darkness that caused our friend to react so?"

"What is so interesting about the ceiling?" Isan says with a quick glance up and then back to the man.

"You hid from others many times while waiting for us? How many times and what did the people you hid from look like? That could very well be useful to us, and something useful to us just might keep us from turning you in. Think on that before you answer." Isan interjects from the doorway, having stepped up while the others brought the man to his knees.

While Isan isn't a coward, he also isn't keen on rushing into attack someone without due cause. He watches as the others huddle around the back door, looking it over for traps and then finally seeing someone move inside.

Reillana said she carefully stepped inside, but hasn't moved on the map. I would move her, but not sure where carefully stepping in would leave her.

He stays just off the porch, covering the group should someone come up from behind. I suppose I could always just explain that we are sneaking around the back here for a surprise party... things are so much simpler in the forest.

His bow drawn, Isan quietly asks, "How do we know this man is hostile? I am conflicted."

He stays to the back, knowing he isn't terribly stealthy...

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

... he is just terrible at stealth.

Isan sighs quietly at the thought of violence.

Hope to avoid it, but be prepared to deal with it. he thinks to himself as he quietly draws his bow and fingers the fletching of an arrow.

He nods his understanding as he watches Ulyi and Squint prepare to go around back.

"The ways of the city... fraught with such suspicion and guile... just some of the many reasons I find the allure of the forest so compelling." Isan says with a shake of his head.

"The Pelican, yes. That seems a solid place to go next." He says in agreement.

"You certainly are aware of much that goes on in the city, and for one of this size, that is very impressive." Isan says, nodding with respect.

Nodding along with Paëral, Isan presses Niculaie gently for information. "Any help you can give us in finding our lost friend, the young lady that my elven friend just mentioned, would be very appreciated."

Sliding neatly into the seat nearest Niculaie, comes the long absent Isan.

"Sorry I'm late. The crowds and maze of streets here can be difficult at times." he offers apologetically to the group. Then as if suddenly noticing Niculaie, he adds, "Oh hello there. You're new! Well met! My name is Isan."

His genuine smile slowly fades as he looks at the serious faces, and one concealing mask, of the rest of his team.

"Yep, we really need to know more about Natalya if we're going to find her." Isan agrees.

Then, thinking aloud he adds, "I just had a thought. Don't you thing it's strange that she would contact you at all if she had planned all along to keep the artifact. It's possible that she was forced to change her plans and then had no safe way to contact you. She might still be loyal to you."

Then straightening his back and with a shake of his head, he says with confidence, "But no matter the reason, the outcome will be the same. We will find her."

Seeing the nearly distraught Squint's eyes begin to well up, Isan reaches out a friendly hand to console the halfling.

"Don't fret Jacobadiah. I am sure all will be made clear in good time. Till then, it's alright to lean on a friend if you need to. None of us are here alone today."

Turning back to Lady Heidmarch, he waits patiently for her to begin the briefing before asking any questions.

Surprised at such praise, Isan bows his head in thanks.

"I will do my best.", comes his simple reply.

"Wait...let me get this straight..." says Isan with a confused look on his face.

"You looked at magic runes from ancient Thassilon, and somehow figured out they represented letters, and then figured out that those letters where an anagram for another word, and if you got the word wrong, something terrible might have happened?"

He shakes his head as he lets out a low whistle, "That has my head spinning! I'm sure glad you can read Thassilonian, and I'm also glad to be working with all of you."

Hey Bruno, thanks for looking the guy over. Let me answer the questions you had in order below, and I will use spoilers to keep it tidy for those that don't care to read it all.

Selecting a campaign trait:

I knew I forgot something! A campaign trait! I will get rid of Reactionary and take Exchange Agent instead.Give me till tomorrow morning to write up a tweak to the backstory that will fit the trait. I have a good idea but it will take some crafting to word it right. I want to keep the fate's favored trait because it fits with the concept that he is a divine paragon. I didn't really feel any of the drawbacks so I will just leave him at 2 traits.

Why I chose reactionary in the first place?:

Aside from the mechanics of the trait, it seemed to fit his backstory. While I didn't ever specifically say he was bullied, I mentioned that he was very different from the others in his caravan(his own family included) and that had me imagine him being picked on and likely often. As the trait described, he never learned an offensive response, so just became better at anticipating sudden attacks and reacting which seemed to fit a kind hearted kid that was abused. Despite that he remained friendly and I attribute that to he strength of will and his divine spark.

Fate's Favored typo:

When I first made him I had the Fey Foundling feat and it was clear in the the first draft of the backstory, but then I swapped it out for Precise Shot(I hate that -4 to hit enemies in melee with my friends), then did a triple take and thought Precise Shot was really better if I was more of I was a primary archer and not just a cleric with a bow, and meant to go back to Fey Foundling, but typo-ed it to Fate's Favored(darn FF threw me I think). Suffice to say, it should be Fey Foundling and not Fate's Favored.

Now the idea was not that he was a baby that was found in the wilds as the feat says as I thought it was better that he was conceived there under the influence by Erastil.

Blending Divine Paragon and Herald Caller:

This was my bad. I really just wanted to play the Divine Paragon as I liked the flavor of the archetype. I was using Herolab instead of my pencil and paper, and just looked up what was compatible, and that can make a person lazy. I was so surprised I didn't even look beyond the "Wow! This would be a really fun combo to try out!" line of thinking. Of course upon further inspection, I would say they really shouldn't be compatible, and Herolab just made a simple error. It isn't perfect and I should have double checked. I am usually more thorough. So ultimately I am making a tweak and dropping the Herald Caller archetype. Since you have us using background skills, he gets more skills than a normal cleric anyway. That segues to the next question/answer.

Skill points:

The Herald Caller gets 4 skill points per level instead of the typical Cleric's 2. Since I just dropped the Herald Caller archetype, I got rid of the 2 extra skill points. Now he just has Diplomacy, Know Nature, Sense Motive and Survival. He will just have to wait till level 2 to spend those other points! ;)

Thanks for bearing with my explanations and I will re-post him now and then again after I make the changes to his back story. Stay tuned!

A smile plays on Isan's lips as the mysterious elf speaks from behind her mask.

"Well then, since we both have business here, let's go inside together. My name is Isan. What may I call you?" he says with what appears to be sincere friendliness.

As a small gust of wind blows past the pair, the young man seems compelled to brush an errant strand of dark hair from his green eyes.

"The weather is certainly taking an interesting turn today." He offers casually, as he walks past the gate and up to the entrance of the manor.

Yes, he talked about the weather.

Walking side by side with a large and powerful warhorse, the young man in simple leathers reaches back to make sure he hasn't forgotten anything. His bow, carved to resemble the antlers of a stag, rests comfortably on his back while his quiver, stamped with the bow and arrow symbol of Erastil, rests comfortably on his hip. Absentmindedly his right hand comes to rest upon the quiver as he walks, the hand itself noticeably branded with the same symbol as his quiver.

"Thank you ever so much my friend." Isan says pleasantly, while patting the horse walking next to him.

The horse snorts and dips its head by way of acknowledging the young man next to it.

As the two come to a stop across the street from a most formidable looking manor house, Isan leans in, pressing his lips close to the horses ear, keeping his voice low, "I would never have found this place if not for your expert knowledge of the city. These places confound me."

Chuckling, he pulls back, and in a normal tone continues, "Well, I did promise you an apple for your help, and here it is." He produces an apple from a pouch and offers it up to the horse who happily accepts it, crunching it loudly and with swift bites. "Now, you had best get back to the stables before someone misses you. Maybe try and avoid taking main streets if you can help it."

Once more the horse snorts and dips its head, its dark eyes staring intently at the young man before it.

"You nice people. Be safe. Danger people be here. You no be danger people." comes the simple whinny from the horse.

Understanding the horse as if it spoke the common tongue, Isan merely replies with a grin, "Wise words good steed. Wise words."

Isan looks across the street to the gate of Heidmarch Manor, just in time to see a carriage let out a slim elven woman, her face covered by a most intriguing mask.

"Well, I was summoned here for a reason, so I might as well see what it is they want of me." he thinks to himself as lets out a small sigh. Striding across the street, he turns his head to watch the departing carriage while approaching the front gate.

"Hello there!" he calls out with a friendly tone to the elven woman. "Are you also answering a summons or do you by chance live here?"

I just updated Isan's backstory and I hope that helps define him better than a bunch of numbers on a character sheet would have.

His personality will be something I will try my best to show clearly through role play, but that will be something you have to judge, not me. :)

Hey guys, Lia/Greymore here. If you still have room and want another divine I have freed up enough stuff on the boards to play... and running Mummies should be up soon

Here is my bid, Isanadu "Isan" Baruna, a cleric of Erastil (Divine Paragon/Herald Caller archetypes)

He is a bit ranger like, but is a full cleric that can channel, just with a nature motif and archery. He can summon animals(and talk to them!) instead of swap for cure spells. He seems to fit this group what with the very ranger like crew, using a bow to support the melee fighters and even the summoner to a degree. I plan on going Evangelist with him at 6. He will have a pet by 4th(wolf) and with Boon companion that should be like a druid pet.

He won't summon like the summoner, nor will he be the archer that a dedicated fighter/ranger/warrior type would be, but he will be an interesting support character that should be pretty solid overall.

I am still putting the finishing touches on his backstory but he is done mechanically.

What do you think?
