No problem! I only just saw this recruitment and didn't realize you were going to just take the first two people to drop in!

If you prefer, I have a monk that I could use instead, though the point may be moot.

There was another DM running a short Chinese-inspired adventure, in which I originally played this character; if you're looking for a cleric, I can tweak this to fit your current guides and I'd be happy to drop in!

Bō is an entertaining, happy-go-lucky priest who happens to worship a similarly jolly, happy-go-lucky god of disasters. Bō dedicates himself to helping communities with their spiritual problems, hunting down demons and evil spirits, and frequently cleaning up after his own accidents.

I'll work on getting this character altered to the standards of your campaign!

Looks like I didn't make it to the recruitment doc, even though I was in the thread pretty early!

I played this priest in a campaign that petered out and the DM vanished. I could get behind some Tian Xia stuff.

Hard question: DM, you've had a little trouble keeping up with one of the games you're running right now, are you sure you're up for another one?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Well, I was going to take the risky position of maybe we shouldn't start rash violence, but that's so out of character for me that I'm just gonna say we should blow it up before it hurts anyone else," says Bō. "So uh, yeah! Hit it!"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Is that some kind of... tea elemental?"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Welcome back!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

When you return, your bold heroes shall be ready!

*strikes a pose*

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Bō carefully interposes his lucky shield and says, "Ehhh... anyone seen anything like this before? Can it even be hurt with swords if it's made of scalding water?"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"The noises came from above; should we head straight for it?"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Right!" says Bō. "Let's see what this is really about." He moves to follow Tashi and says, "C'mon Peony - I can take the front if you'd rather use your bow."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

The priest sheathes his sword and taps his helmet and says, "Sooo... I guess we check upstairs?" He looks a bit sheepish about having stabbed the gui, then says, "But you shouldn't have been stealing tea in the first place!"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Bō points his sword at the last remaining gui. "All right, you," he says, striking a dramatic pose, "Talk! What happened here?"

Then he looks sheepishly back at the rest of the team.

"Uh... do they have their own language? I've never had to talk to a gui before."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Bō deflects the attack with his lucky shield and counterstrikes again with his nine ring broadsword. The blade jangles as it whistles through the air in a casual arc.

Nine ring broadsword attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

...but lazily misses.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Safe travels!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I think you just threatened a crit with your bastard sword, Peony!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

After Peony and Xiang...

Bō advances to engage one of the fish-people. He twitches once, not quite a feint, before he suddenly commits to a slash with his jangling blade.

Attack: Nine ring broadsword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Damage: Nine ring broadsword: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Okay, that way!" says Bō with a smile. He raises his shield and rushes to engage the gui.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Looks like the gui aren't the only ones here," says Bō warily.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Bō raises an eyebrow at Peony's blatant impulse, then grins widely and tugs on the horsehair mane that tops his leather cap. He enters with the team but stays back from Tashi while the latter listens at the door, so that he doesn't inadvertently ruin the attempt.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Don't gui usually live in water? How would they even store tea?"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Bō sniffs the jug and then wrinkles his nose. "Well, I guess we know what happened here," he says. "They're probably all over the place inside of the tea brewery. Guess we'll have to roust them out!" He draws his nine ring broadsword and taps it against his shoulder.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Bō concentrates and fires another blast of lightning at the gui that he previously hit, on the right.

Lightning arc: Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Lightning arc: Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Concentrating hard, Bō slowly turns his hand outward to face the gui. Small arcs of lightning leap from his fingertips to coalesce into a single bolt in the center of his hand, which then tears out through the air toward one of the fish-men.

Lightning arc ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Lightning arc damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Bō nods and flexes his grip on his shield - a round wooden shield with flaking lucky red paint on the face and a few dings. He raises his empty right hand as if gripping an invisible ball... perhaps waiting for something?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Bō follows some distance behind Peony and Shara, allowing them the opportunity to move stealthily.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Bō grins widely. "It can't be that abandoned, eh? So many people have gone in recently! Maybe they have found the lotus blossom that grants eternal slumber? Or a heavenly peach tree has grown in one of the tea gardens? Maybe we'll go in and find them all sitting around the tables drinking tea and looking very surprised that anyone came!"

The itinerant cleric's lamellar leather armor creaks as he stands up on his toes to try to take a look over the rooftops. "There's a whole compound in there, eh? We'd better go soon if we want to search the place before the sun sets!"
