I'm really sorry for delaying the game. We had some real life drama over the last week which took up a huge ammount of my attention and greatly complicates my life at this time. I am afraid I must at this point withdraw from the game, with nothing but well wishes to all of you and the most sincerest of apologies.

"Aye, I've claimed my equipment as well." says Hraak before nodding at Onnello, "We all play a part, indeed. We work well together...and we'll have to continue doing so, if we're all to survive life aboard this ship. We may not have asked to be here, but well...we're here now."

The half-orc shrugs as if he isn't sure what else to say, and then he eyes the buckler, offering, "I suppose I'll take that, if no one else wants it."

Hraak sorts through the miscellaneous junk along with the others, not really sure what they were looking for, but he knew they'd know it when they saw it. Even so, he murmurs a small prayer to Gozreh for Guidance in his endeavors...

This spell orison imbues the subject with a touch of divine guidance. The creature gets a +1 competence bonus on a single attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. It must choose to use the bonus before making the roll to which it applies.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15

When Nivian's friend makes his appearance, the half-orc blinks at the sight of the snake, cocks his head slightly, and then grins. "Not the strangest thing I've seen in the last few days, true enough. Well met indeed, Mister Carth. Welcome to our bilge crew..."

Male 1/2 Orc Cleric 1 | HP 7/9| AC 15 Touch 13 Flatfooted 11 | Saves F 4 / R 2 / W 7 | Init +3 | Perc +4

Thanks for the heads up, Niv!

And I hadn't caught that, Ioney. Hopefully it won't be necessary for us... lol

Caught up in a battle of his own, Hraak calls out as he swings again at his rodent opponent, "Get behind something, Ioney! I'll heal you when I can get clear!"

Morningstar Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8

Morningstar Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

But, distracted by his friend's plight, Hraak again misses the rat by a large margin. "How do they move so fast??

Male 1/2 Orc Cleric 1 | HP 7/9| AC 15 Touch 13 Flatfooted 11 | Saves F 4 / R 2 / W 7 | Init +3 | Perc +4

Brandishing his morningstar as best he could, Hraak hauls back and swings at the nasty rat attacking him.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8

Possible Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

...and while the spiked head of his weapon does land with a meaty thunk, it unfortunately misses the large creature and instead crashes into the hull of the ship.

I'm HERE.

Got the internet cables run, later than planned due to issues with the repair guy, and then had some unrelated family stuff go sideways on Sunday.

Honestly, that should be the sum total of delays scheduled for me by the Universe for the forseeable future...I hope.

Big apologies. Seriously, I'm back and here now for daily posting.

Male 1/2 Orc Cleric 1 | HP 7/9| AC 15 Touch 13 Flatfooted 11 | Saves F 4 / R 2 / W 7 | Init +3 | Perc +4

Trailing his friends by a few moments, having run back to his hidden stash to retrieve his morningstar and longcoat, Hraak enters the Bilge with his weapon raised, ready to fight. However, seeing the rats uncanny ability to dart around and avoid getting hit, the half-orc is amazed at how rodents so large could move so fast.

The sailor-priest pauses to take in the fight, and then raises his free hand, saying, "Gozreh! She Who Guides the Wind and the Waves...guide us now and Bless our endeavor here, that we might rid our vessel of these hideous rats!"

Cast Bless on the party. "Bless fills your allies with courage. Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects."

I'm still here!
Sorry, guys. Our internet has been down for a couple days, but we have new cable being g put in tomorrow. We'd hoped for sooner, but that's what we get. Will definitely be posting regularly again.

Ioney, having had surgery on my ankle and dealing with the recovery myself, I was going to say I understood what your wife is going through...but considering this is her 25th surgery, I won't even make a comparison of empathy. Wow.

Do what you need to, and know that we'll be here.

Hraak finally makes his way to find Quartermaster Grok, and once there, the half-orc says, "G'day, there. A friend of mine, Helgash, said that that you'd be the one to see about reclaiming my personal effects. I'm especially interested in getting my healer's kit back. It's of rather sentimental value to me, and well, you never know when it's going to come in handy."

Hraak pauses, then adds, "And frankly, I'm pretty sure I could have used it to shorten my stretch of sea sickness the other day."

Gah! Was eager and got ahead of myself. Apologies. Hraak will take time to visit the quartermaster's (Grok) store as well, taking the -2 on his roll. I'll roll again, if you'd like.

Can we add Profession (Sailor) to any of these rolls, btw? Doubt it, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask

Glad to be able to distance himself from the buisness end of a mop, and feeling quite a bit better than the day before, Hraaz meets the day and the challenge of a new assignment with a reasonably good attitude.

As such, the tattooed priest greets those he encounters with a nod and a quiet, and surprisingly still raspy, "G'mornin'."

Just before he gets started, Hraak looks out over the open sea that so thoroughly surrounds them and prays for Guidance from Gozreh.

1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 + 1 = 22
Casting Guidance orison

...and his labors go MUCH better than the day before.

For the next day, if the situation should present itself, Hraak is going to try to get the attention of "The Stitchman" Habbly Quarne, to inquire make a case for helping out as a ship's surgeon (and carpenter).
He's not going to go so far as to get into trouble over it...just, he'll be watching for opportunities.

I have finished the streamlining of the days. I will just do the job rolls so we don't have to wait on everyone. So here is the new order:

1) Decide which helpful NPCs are going to aid which PCs (I will list who is available for who). I will post the results.

2) Decide on your daytime and evening actions (You can later alter your evening action based on daytime action results). We are ditching the general Diplomacy roll, from now on you roll the Gather Information (Diplomacy) or Sense Motive at the same time you roll the Influence (Diplomacy, Bluff, or Intimidate) roll. If you get the DC15 on the first roll, give yourself a +2 on the Influence roll. If you are going for Conchobar, Rosie, Cogward, or Grok, there are special modifiers. I will post those results.

3) Decide whether you are doing any late night actions.

Nice. Works for me!

WIP submission:
- Human, Unchained Monk
- Driven by Guilt (or, if the Archetype idea doesn't fly, Foe of the Strange)

Progression:
Due to the amnesia, he's going to be a monk with no archetype. I was musing with the idea of once/if he gets memories back, that he had formerly been one of the archetypes...and he'll have to choose between the two "lives". My current lean would him having been in the very early stages of training in the Black Asp order (Assassins), but due to the amnesia, he remembers almost none of it. Once his memories return, he'd reject that entire way of life, which could cause conflict with other members of the Black Asps.

Just a thought. Depends on your thoughts on it, DM Monty, and how things play out in the game.

@ Hraak - You can make either Perception or Sense Motive checks (DC15) for both events. If you succeed, you get a +2 modifier, with an additional _1 for every 5 you beat the DC. Then make a d20 roll, on an 11 or higher you win your bet.

Sense Motive: Arm Wrestling: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 FAILED!

Sense Motive: Hog Lob: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Betting: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

After watching several bouts of arm wrestling, Hraak discovers that while it was true that larger men usually did well, it wasn't always the case that the bigger man won. There was more finnese and skill involved in the matches than he had always thought...and so, when he picked his spot to bet, he lost his coins.

The priest of Gozreh thought he had a better take on the Hob Lobs, and was sure that his choice of champion to bet on was correct...if the sailor he'd chosen wouldn't have slipped at the last moment and almost droppedd the log. In the end, same result as the arm wrestling...out more gold.

Deciding that he'd wasted enough time, though he'd surprisingly enjoyed it, Hraak headed off to his hammock to get whatever sleep he could before morning.

Dotting. Without having looked through the Player's Guide yet, I'm seriously considering a Monk for this. We'll see.

Though his intention was to head immediately off to his bunk, Hraak's curiosity gets the better of him and he finds himself drawn to the various games of chance the crew were playing. If nothing else, he decides that he might get some insight on some of the other sailors and pirates.

The half-orc immediately rejects trying to join 'Heave' as an option, what with his time throwing up over the rail so recently etched in his brain.

"Ah, what the hell..." he mutters to no one in particular, and in the end, decides to stay only on the betting side, rather than particpating side, of the games. He ambles up to each of the other two games and says, "So...what are the rules here?"

Hraak will place a 2gp bet on one of the Arm Wrestling matches, and another 2gp bet on one of the Hog Lob matches. How do you want me to do this? Should I roll, and if so, what bonuses or penalties would Hraak have?

Hraak joins the others, somewhat surprised to be asked, but grateful for the sense of comradeship. While still horrified by his current status as a prisoner aboard a pirate ship, the sense of belonging did ease the edge off...if just a little.

The half-orc nods at Helgash's opening statement, offering, "Aye. I'll have your backs." after being handed and drinking from the brandy. He then nods and grins at Nivian's advice, and makes a mental note to try and get his healer's kit back, at the very least.

Ioney brings up the loot, and instantly has Hraak's full attention. Still standing in the dark with the rest, he says,"I'd like a shot at gettin' one of them maces, if that's alright? Not really many weapons I have a lot of skill with, but I'm reasonably good with a heavy mace." Hraak pauses, then as an afterthought, asks, "We're gonna need to hide the weapons, though, right?"

The priest of Gozreh listens intently to Ioney's story, and grins as he finishes, though raises a thick eyebrow as he ponders the one called the Accidental God...

Knowledge:Religion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Hraak tries to keep a smile off his face when the Captain laughs, but still ends up with the left corner of his mouth upturning slightly. He glances at Plugg, feeling the hatred resonating off the man, and knows he's made his next few days more difficult for himself.

"Worth it." he rasps quietly.

Tired and still smarting, even after the healing, Hraak none-the-less decides against heading down to his bunk right away. The half-orc stretches his shoulders, glancing about and says in his hoarse voice, "Alright, mates. Who's got some dice ta' throw?"

Night's action: Gambling. No late night action. To be clear, Helgash doesn't includes Hraak in his 'team meeting', right?

As the day winds down, the Punishment hour arrives. The crew is called on deck and Mr. Plugg stands by the main mast next to Master Scourge with his cat o' nine tails. The three crew members that you knocked out in the morning, Ioney, and Hraak are all pulled out of line.

"Ye lot have were late to morning call, three lashes each! You two," Plugg turns his eyes on Ioney and Hraak, with obvious pleasure, "are unable to do your work so three lashes ta motivate you."

Unless you resist, all five people are tied one at a time to the main mast and Scourge delivers three lashes. The pain is exquisite.

Under the watchful eye of the Captain, Scourge does not treat any of the people being lashed differently (he does not use his STR modifier because the Captain doesn't want to be shorted any crew for minor or first time offenses). Nobody goes unconscious.

While he doesn't resist, Hraak tries to stand tall, but in the end, cries out in pain, as each of the men before him had. The lashes, while not deadly, tear through skin and leave him feeling like he'd been beaten within an inch of his life.

When he's unlashed from the mast, the half-orc falls to one knee, blinking back the pain. "Mr. Pugg...I sincerely mean no disrespect..." he mutters, then coughs, spitting blood. "...and I accept your punishment."

Hraak pauses, his voice becoming fuller, and he lifts his head and says, "But in such a state as this, none of us will be of any value to the ship...and so I humbly ask that Gozreh, She Who Guides the Wind and Waves, grant this ship safe passage...and keep us safe in her embrace."

With this last, the half-orc lowers his head, touches two fingers to the leaf-shaped birthmark on his neck, and a cool ripple of healing energy, almost like a wave itself, moves through everyone nearby.

Spotting Onnello as the half-elf makes his way across the deck, Hraak gives him a small nod and rasps, "How are ye holdin' up?"

Change of plan for the evening, once we get there. Hraak will purposefully try to end up in any group that includes Grok. (Description states she wanders the deck, sometimes gambling). Not sure if I can try to influence her while gambling, though if the choice is there, he'd rather try to influence than gamble.

Spoiler of sorts: He's going to try to use her to get an introduction to Habbly Quarne (male human), the “Stitchman," or rather, the Ship's Surgeon and Carpenter...who he has yet to meet. Reasonable?

As the day wears on, Hraak continues his labors, trying to avoid the harsh gaze of Master scourge as best he can. The half-orc finds that beyond his exhaustion and aches, he doesn't really mind the mopping...it reminds him of the days back at the inn with his mother.

He moves slowly, but with purpose, watching those around him, more with a mind to simply stay out of trouble than to make any real observations of the crew. That would have to wait until after he could get some food in his belly and some dearly needed sleep.

Not doing a lot to move the story or day forward, but since Hraak's just working diligently, I wasn't sure how much interaction I should have. And frankly I like this game, so I wanted to post. :) Are any of the "new" recruits near him during all this, player characters or NPCs?

The half-orc keeps his eyes lowered and simply nods at the verbal assault, mindful that he' in no condition for a fight...yet...and that losing his temper will only make things severely worse. Beyond a few muttered comments about trying to do better, he simply does his best to go unnoticed.

But tired and aching as he is, Hraak finds that he's simply not ready to sleep when his labors are done. As horrible as he feels, Hraak simply needs some sort of social interraction. After looking through what meager belongings and coins he still retains, he limps off towards the sound of crew members who are throwing dice...

"Well, mates, what have we here? Any chance I kin get in on this?" he rasps, his voice still ragged and scratchy.

The half-orc is almost relieved to be assigned to swabbing the deck, mostly because he found he could use the mop to keep himself steady. Exhausted and disheveled, Hraak coughs harshly, wincing at the sharp pain in his throat from nearly a full day of vomitting.

Seasick. What in the holy hells? Not enough that I've been kidnapped by pirates? But, Gozreh bless me, I never get seasick...

As if in defiance, the half-orc's stomach clenches once again, as it had done hundreds of times over the course of the day and evening. But fortunately, nothing comes up...not that there was much there for his body to expell.

Hraak weakly pushes himself off the rail, coming to a sitting position with his back against it, his legs outstretched. The cleric finds his breathing a bit labored, along with a massive, throbbing headache...but otherwise, the young sailor decides...or hopes...that the worst of his ailment is over.

My achilles tendon surgery was a success, though I'm still in pain. But with my meds, I'm coherent enough, methinks, to jump back in now. And with Trevor's blessings, I'm going to do just that.

For context, and for something your characters would know, I'm just going to say that Hraak has been horrendeously seasick, vomitting all of his first day, much to the amusement of the pirates. Unless that somehow messes something up for someone.

I'll be posting later this morning once I've gotten completely caught up on my reading here.
