Description
A mountain of a man that fits most Rokugani's expectation of what a Hida bushi looks like, Tetsumaru is one of the biggest students during his time at the War College. Testumaru like to keep his hair wild and unbound unless in battle. His bronze skin and muscled physique reflects the long days he has spent in training under the sun in the hopes of being accepted at the Unbreakable Blade Dojo.
Background
Born 1103 as the first of four children between Hida Kenichi and Hida Kaoru, Tetsumaru strives to set a good example for his younger siblings, the twins Kaori and Hikari and younger brother Jiro.
For as long as he can remember Tetsumaru has always wanted to be a duelist, inspired by stories of his ancestor, a Crab duelist, fought and killed the Iuchi commander in a duel in defense of the Temple of Osano-Wo during the Battle of Thunder Plain. Tetsumaru entered the Hida War College intending to gain recommendations to join the Unbreakable Blade dojo. Being one of the more well rounded students the young Hida was chosen to represent the Crab at the coming Topaz Championship.
As fortune would have it Tetsumaru's betrothed will also be attending the Topaz Championshp. Fifteen years ago Tetsumaru's father saved a Shinjo from bandits and came to his defense when he was falsely accused of a crime. In gratitude the Shinjo promised to wed his young daughter to Tetsumaru. In this time of peace the leadership of both clans has decided to use the opportunity to create more ties between the two clans and approved the marriage. Having exchanged letters with the samurai-ko for the past two years, Tetsumaru has grown excited at the prospect of meeting his betrothed.
Sworn Enemy/Bad Fortune:
Tetsumaru's betrothed has a best friend/secret admirer who is a descendant of the commander Tetsumaru's ancestor defeated in a duel at the Battle of Thunder Plain and has sworn to kill Tetsumaru to regain his ancestor's honor and free the Shinjo to marry himself.
