Victor darts off and catches up to Hezala and sees a few people below decks as well as crew. A few turn and pay attention readying to abandon ship if necessary.
Pyre cannot see land through the storm beyond the vicious reef poking out of the sea. There does appear to be a channel perhaps, that you could dive for and may avoid the reef itself if you want to jump in right upon contact.
Bessie looks at Desula, Maps at a time like this? she'll appreciate the spotting There does appear to be some potential flotation devices that may fall, or you can try to stay on board and cut something lose while avoiding anything falling on you.
I'll keep an eye on the little one! Hezala shouts as Victor darts into the captains quarters to get what maps he can, quick fingers able to stash a few items.
Victor, you'll run into Hezala, with the wounded first, as Lela is downstairs with the animals.
As victor approaches, healing waves wash over him as she further heals the wounded.oh, its you! Glad you haven't been washed away. Just making sure the wounded are as well of as possible before. . . in case things go poorly. she says, careful not to say anything that might Jinx you.
This would happen before Desula called out to Hezala
Akryat, take the deal and shake on it. Hezala says, coming up to the deck. Akryat almost looks like he's going to say something, but then she pulls out her Holy Symbol, You parlayed wiht these folks and they accepted the terms you set. Buchanan won't stand for it if you turn on a Priestess of the Dread Lady. tells the hobgoblin, practically scolding him.
She adds, And you know he will, Tickle can’t keep his mouth shut
Immatake e’ceptiontathat! . . . Butits true one of the rats blurts out with an apologetic shrug as his twin face palms.
edit: after the accord is set
Lets see what we can do to heal these folks. . . She lets warm waves of positive energy wash over all the injured, sealing wounds and healing injuries Heals wounds only Victor, we can see to the wounded. There is a stock of Healer's kits in the sick-bay that we can use. she says to Victor.
Hezala raises an eyebrow, and looks around Not here. Maybe later tho. I don't trust some of the passengers, and I'd rather not have the crew getting suspicious of me if anything goes wrong. Grindylow and monsters are definitely not the most dangerous threat in these waters. if you catch my meaning... Pirates are pretty feared by the nautically inclined.
Hezala shrugs, It's not really appropriate to talk about her on an above-board mercantile ship... she says, but then leans in conspiratorially. My lady is queen of the Free Captains, and writer of the Code. The ignorant don't take kindly to followers of the Pirate Queen, but I find that among them that live their lives at sea, the respect afforded to her priestesses is well worth it when it matters.
As the general consensus seems to be to learn more, you can split off to talk to people on the ship or look around. If you go to the Door to the pit, you'll need to roll stealth to avoid detection.
Hezala has just left the corner of the bunk-room where the Tengu are resting, having just spent some energy to heal them. Ah, little one, what's troubling you? You seem more full of nervous excitement than usual, she notes with a chuckle. Your friend's people are coming along well, and should be waking soon
Well, these waters are rife with threats. Grindylow raiding parties attack on occasion, among other creatures, not to mention pirates and warring factions on the mainland. Not usually in this number, but it's just as likely to be a case of 'wrong-place-wrong-time' as anything else. We seem to have run into a large group while it was on the move, she notes with the shrug of a jaded sailor. Lucky we were on this ship in particular, with the captain and his drow. Most crews round about these waters would have fallen to pack of raiders about half this size. We'll be working extra shifts tho, what with the losses and injuries we sustained.
Hezala looks over and sees the condition of the group as well. Victor, you almost lost your Drow, she says, looking over the group. And you're looking pretty worse for wear yourself. SHe takes a deep breath and you feel waves of energy wash over you, and then they seem to build upon themselves, like a tide coming in, stitching your wounds together.
Channel positive enerty twice to heal wounds. Heal 2 wounds, gain NO vigor. Desula, you wake up
Hezala looks at you, confused for a moment, um, because he's a drow... And, well I guess I've never met him, but drow are, well dangerous, and. Hmh, guess it makes sense to talk to him... It just always seemed like the bosun was the non-drow that he liked
She seems to be about to tell you about her deity, but is saved by a bell!
But not really };]
Hezala chuckles. That's jsut the name by which i refer to my goddess. She's just a patron of travelers, doubt you've heard of her following. And it's not that she'd be annoyed, but more, I'd hate for people to be asking me 'Oye, run me a bath!, My hands are dirty, Clean this room, Wash my feet, I'm thirsty! making fun of the common sea-fearer accent. But Its no trouble. I'm sure if you spoke to the Bosun, he could make sure you get the supplies you need. I avoid talking to the drow whenever i can. and I'd avoid making too much of a to-do about the pumps and bilges and such... she adds in a whisper.
Victor
you were speaking to the bosun, a tattooed human. He is in charge or labor and ship maintenance. The Quartermaster is a drow that manages supplies and equipment
Hezala makes a Greece at the bottom and motions for Victor to follow. She walks below and grabs an effort bucket. She reaches into her shirt and grasps a pendant she has on a again and whispers. She raises a hand over the barrel and water begins to fill it. I can create small amounts of fresh water, but I don't care to run people baths for people or use my Lady's gifts like that, so I was hoping the bosun would be more helpful...
victor
Hezala breaths a sigh of relief, loath to be impolite. Indeed there is. He's also a Drow and don't get up till evening. But I can introduce yea to the bosun. If you have heard something it may be worth mentioning to him.
She will guide you to the bosun whenever you are ready to speak with him. Oye, Dress that line yea dog! How many time I gotta tell ya what Ship-Shape mean? he yess from the forecastle, overlooking all the riggers and deck-hands. Damn passenger liners. can't maintain discipline worth a damn here he grumbles with a sigh.
Ah Hezala! What can i do ya fer? And you, li'l rat-kin. Need sommat? He asks, glancing at you only momentarily before taking a look again over the deck to keep a weather eye out.
Ah, I see. I guess that's my fault for suggesting you could take your bunk down here... I'm sorry Victor. She says. But it's not likely that the pump would be making noises at night. When someone is working the bilges, yes, but as we sail through the dark, no. I myself am not entirely sure what would be causing any unnatural noises, and only thing on the other side of that wall should be where Butchy's got his animals all penned up. Never been down there m'self. can't stand the stench of the animals. she grimmaces, then glances at you, a soaking wet rat-man and looks sheepish, not meaning to be insulting. Sorry...I didn't mean. . .
Victor
The pump room has thick lacquer and sealant on the walls going down to the floor, to rot and damage from the water that floods it, and it appears that there is a series of small pipes that will pull water from other areas in the ship, so there is little one can do to get through the walls.
You are so focused that you don't notice Hezala watching you work until she asks, And what is the inquisitive little rat investigating in the bilges while nobody's watching? She hops into the water and sloshes over to you, I know he's not working the pump with those little arms, but what did he want eh? What is he so embarassed about? She leans down and looks at you, still not sure what to make of you entirely and looking to form an opinion.
You could have ret-conned yout question but as it stands I like this scene. You can certainly try to leverage your previous diplomacy roll to influence Hezala, and depending on what you say the roll will be modified by the conversation.
Sorry, Victor, my name's Hezala, but I'm not the doctor. Just a novice healer she says with a shrug.
"Hmmm, I don't know about that. . . A rat-man playing with sickness on a ship. You say you aren't contagious. . . She's really not sure what to do about you, breaking the rules of disease as far as she knows it. Intrigued but also somewhat scared by the idea, she's definitely seen disease claim lives. Well, there is certainly a few bunks around. Arrangements for your group haven't been nailed down, but there's by far the most space in the sickbay. And if you are experimenting nobody would disturb you there. She takes you down a deck and shows you a room with some medical supplies a couple hammocks, a couple sturdy tables. THere are some old bloodstains, likely the work of the ship surgeon/carpenter having had to remove limbs. It's very clean for a ship medical space tho, and it could be used as a decent lab space, as she said. It also serves as a quarantine but she's not saying that as it would be rude, and she doesn't seem to want to offend.
Hezala raises an eyebrow. A flu? yave you received any treatment? If you are contagious then close-quarters on a ship are dangerous. We have a makeshift sick-bay on the bottom deck, and I can see what i can do... she seems concerned, as a sickness can spread quickly through a ship and must be contained. I have some medical expertise, perhaps I can assist you? She seems confused as to why you, a Plague Doctor, would have a flu, and maybe a little condescending about an unwell healer, but is mostly concerned with preventing a sickness on the ship she is on.
Victor:
As you scurry below deck, careful to not get your plague on anything, you see a woman. She gasps as you approach, Well I never! Tavian really did bring a RAT onto his ship. SHe looks you over briefly with piercing hazel eyes, "I guess you are rather enormous if one thinks of you as a rodent, but you're no vermin at all. What have you got there, little one?" SHe drops down to your eye level pointing to your alchemical kit. She had darker skin like that of a southern desert-dweller and wears a long dark-blue frock-coat Hair a long dark windswept tangle. She seems to have over-come her initial shock that you are a ratfolk but is still appraising you.
