Placing a hand on Gwyn's wand, Helena gently pushes it down a couple of inches. "How about we save that for anything pointy-teethed and hungry for songbirds?" she asks, raising one eyebrow and smiling. As the group treks through the "graveyard", she pulls a scarf up over her nose, eyes watering at the smell, faint as it is from the distance.
I don't blame you for being relieved. Sounds like a tough case. I'm just having trouble getting my head back in this game. I'll likely drop in in the next scene. Sorry.
Keep us updated when you can, buddy. Hope the case isn't too hard you emotionally or mentally. For my part, I should get a post in over breakfast or after work.
Sorry for the absence, folks; turns out I'm moving house. It all happened pretty immediately. Boyfriend was given two months' notice because the landlord is demolishing the house, and we signed a rental lease last night. Things will be spotty for a few days. The fact that I didn't realize the gameplay post was up didn't help >.>
I'd be down! My life's a bit wonky at the moment while I house hunt, but this was fun, and I'd be keen to pick it up again :)
I'm sorry to hear that the game's fizzled, but I understand there's been a lot on your plate lately. I hope things settle down for you soon, mate! It's been a pleasure :) Please let me know if ever you pick this up again - hopefully, I'll be more focused, as well.

Sorry for my silence. Been bummed as heck, had to deal with a lot of stupid people on the internet and had to take a step back, had a minor medical scare (thought my appendix was going to burst [it didn't]), and now a trauma with a close acquaintance. Spoiler tag for baby-related trauma:
My sister's best friend, who we've known for over ten years now, lost her baby eight months into the pregnancy... so she still has to deliver him. I'm trying to be around. On a lighter note, I got back into Skyrim (which might not be helping, TBH), and I've lost 8kg in a month due to a diet, so... kinda yay?
I'm sure Gwyn can find a use for marbles and caltrops, though I shudder to think of it! Perhaps the medic should hold onto the healing potions and antitoxin. I'd also be happy to put in to get the bow enchanted. Helena might take the emerald and gold earring, too? Unless it belongs to anyone in town. Happy to have its value taken directly out of my share.
Sorry for the silence, but Helena might nab the +1 hide armor. An extra point of AC never goes amiss.
"It all sounds so easy until they suck your brains out through your ears," Helena mutters into an apple.
"Holy water, and holy magic," Helena agrees. "The power I use to heal, may also be used to harm them... I think," she adds, blushing slightly. "I've never actually [i]tried[i] it."

Helena jabs Fluff's belly with a fingertip, picking a raisin out of reach of the gluttonous bird's beak. "You're lucky I don't tell her what you've been up to!" she chides, digging through the pack tucked under her chair. "I'm going to need to resupply," she says, "but Shalelu raised a good point. If we want to dig through the dungeons, we should do so soon. Perhaps as soon as we deal with the ghouls?"
"Not silver." Helena shakes her head. "You're thinking of werewolves. You should be able to strike them with anything you have on hand." Glancing at Gwyn, she adds, "I read about them once. My mother knew how to treat the symptoms of the disease they carry, ghoul fever. If any of us are infected, we may not have long." She stares at the wood grain in the table. "I have an antiplague that may help fortify the body against the fever, but we may do well to carry more. "They attack without weapons, using their own teeth and claws to rend and devour the living. I've heard... their claws can paralyze you, so you're still conscious, but can't defend yourself once they start to feed."
Helena sighs as Fluff begins making a nest out of her wispy white hair, but picks a crumb off her bread and passes it up to the portly thrush."I can agree with that," she nods. "But first: what do we all know about ghouls?"
Still stretching, Helena pads downstairs, mostly-dressed but for her bare feet, and carrying her mantle in one hand. After taking a few glances around the room and tilting her head to listen, she makes her way to the table and sits down, draping the mantle over Gwyn's bare shoulders. "That was the best sleep I've had in weeks," she sighs. "It's so refreshing to sleep where you can actually see your own walls, I overslept and haven't earthed yet." She wiggles her bare toes against the wooden floor. "So, ghouls?" she asks.
"Of course," is all Helena can say, not about to deny the distraught elf her small comforts - and, if she allows herself to admit it, the company would be welcome. Indeed, once she's sure Gwyn's in her own deep sleep, she allows herself to drift off as well, slightly teary but glad to be done with the ordeals.
Glad you're still keeping on, mate! For my part, I've just been frustrated with the site, which got really screwy for me right after my illness cleared up (managed to get cellulitis in my strong arm from an insect bite, and could barely even use a mouse, let alone type!) I'm working up a gameplay post now, and I'd be happy to do some RP.
With a sigh, Helena rests her chin atop Geyn's head, closing her eyes and thinking. For all the time she's spent mending wounds and tending fevers, the best methods to ease emotional distress still escape her. "But you didn't, Gwyn," she says softly. "You've overcome weakness and come out stronger for it, without turning to darkness like Nualia. That makes you good at heart. As for her... her fate is out of our hands now. We did the right thing by handing her over. I imagine she'll be brought to justice quickly." Stroking the elf's hair gently, she sighs. "This has been hard on all of us. I'm used to bringing life where I go, not taking it. I can only imagine what it was like to see yourself in such evil." Giving Gwyn a gentle squeeze, she forces a small smile. "A bath and a good night's sleep will do us both good. Desna will watch your dreams tonight."
Helena wraps a comforting arm around Gwyn as she waits, pulling her head gently into her shoulder. "If it feels right to you, then yes," she says noncommittally, before sighing and adding, "but yes, I think you did. You showed mercy to someone who showed none to you, making you the better person."
Hemmed in on all sides by the crowd, Helena looks around, trying not to panic at the knowledge that many more people lie beyond the field of her vision. She reaches to Gwyn's shoulder and squeezes it, pulling Cerin into an impulsive hug with the other arm. "I'm glad they're happy for us, but not being able to see them all is spooking me," she murmurs. "How about we find a quiet meal and a bath?"
"It's true," Helena nods, "and we'd best be getting back to town. Right?" she adds.
As the party travels, captive in tow, Helena walks alongside Gwyn. She stays quiet, passing Fluff between her shoulder and the elf's when the fat bird prompts it. She's heard the story before, of course - wiped away the blood and tears, too. But she lets the elf tell it, never letting her free hand stray far from her shoulder or arm.
Caught off-guard by the wet ripping sound of the creature around the corner, Helena draws her spear warily. "What is it?" she calls to those closer to the corner.
"Gwyn," Helana says softly, placing a hand on her friend's shoulder. "You're better than this." Letting her spear fall to the ground, she reaches for the shortsword, gently pulling it back.
Cerin staggers. Gwyn collapses. Kyrin looks one good shot away from unconsciousness. In her scarves, Helena can feels Fluff's heartbeat feebly struggling. Shaking with white-hot anger, she plants her spear firmly in the ground. "We will not fall," she hisses, eyes flaring. "WE WILL NOT FALL!" she repeats, her voice shaking as wisps, then gouts of vibrant green flow from her staff and hands, bathing the room in a verdant glow before vanishing.
Helena moves up the stairs, spear-butt dragging on the ground. "You'll not escape so easily!" she hisses.
Helena feels the tiny bird in her scarves shudder and go limp. In a blind panic, even as she shakes off the wracking pain that covers her, she fumbles around in the layers and presses two fingers over Fluff's breast. "Fluff?" she asks with too much hope, feeling a tiny, fluttering heartbeat - weak and barely noticeable, but there. After looking at her spear, she looks back to Nualia. Without any way to reach her in the stairwell, she steps forward, pressing a hand to Orik's shoulder. "Good luck."
Red mist creeps into the corners of Helena's vision as she looks over to Nualia and sees her cut Orik's side open. Biting on her tongue as she does so, she reaches to the mystical thread that connects them and severs it, feeling life force flow back into her as she does so. "Sorry, but I need to live," she gasps, doubling over and clutching at her forehead.
She lets out a shuddering sigh as her wounds start to slowly close, before gripping her spear again and closing in on the woman.
Sorry, I'm... a bit scattered right now. My last action was CMW to heal Cerin; has that been taken into account?
Has... has everyone been keeping track of the hp they've gotten from life link? :/
Praying that the hound and demon don't decide to gut her where she stands, Helena clumsily reaches around the corner to heal Cerin.
Feeling faint and bloody, Helena shifts her spear to one hand and presses the other against her chest.
"I'm coming, Cerin," she mutters, half-staggering around the dog.
Bruises continue to spread across Helena's face, fluttering into view as she staggers. As the energy from Nualia's sword hits Gwyn, the woman doubles over, clutching at her stomach with one hand. Gritting her teeth, she steps around the chair in front of her and thrusts her spear at the unearthly hound.
Helena stands strong against the terrifying howl, gritting her teeth as pain blossoms across her cheek. A mass of smashed flesh and cracked bone spreads quickly across her milky, pale face, even as the damage on Orik's own skin knits together slightly.
"You've gone and made her angry," she mutters, stabbing once at Tsuto before moving back carefully.
Not a worry, GM. Hope all's well for you in the meantime!
"Gwyn's fine," Helena calls back to Cerin, pressing a hand to the wound in her chest and making her way to the gnome. "And I will be." She prods Bruthazmus' corpse with the butt of her spear. "Is he carrying anything of use?"
Helena prods at the goblin again, with no more success than her last attempt.

Site's been dodgy as all get-out lately, and always when I'm available. It's up right now, but it's quarter to three in the morning. I'll keep trying tomorrow, but if you're waiting on me, don't. I haven't been able to get more than a few minutes of working site time a day for over a week now.
"Of course she is," Helena sighs. "She can't help herself sometimes. Stay close, Fluff." With a wink and a smile to Gwyn, she squeezes the wizard's shoulder before making her way down the stairs, tapping the stone floor with the butt of her spear to call on a burst of healing light.
I've got her!" Helena calls back down to Cerin. "She's going to be fine." Gritting her teeth, she snaps the end off of the arrow, gives the elf a second to brace herself, and yanks it free, closing the wound with a whispered word and a soft green light.
"Gwyn!" Helena cries in shock, before biting off the words as a pain springs into her chest. Reaching down and grabbing the back of her friend's shirt, she attempts to pull her out from under Orik and back to safety.
Got the lurgy, post coming in the morning.
"I don't know whether that's one of the funniest or scariest thoughts that's struck me," Helena sighs, pushing the marbles aside with her spearhead as she makes her way down the stairs.
Damn, that's a lousy situation. I'm sorry Paizocon didn't work out for you this year. It's good you were able to get refunds, at least?
Eyes wide with alarm, Helena looks from the door to Gwyn, her grip on her spear tightening. "Gwyn, why did you do that?" she asks worriedly. "I mean, it worked, but you could have gotten yourself killed!"
Helena stands behind Gwyn, spear pointed at the door, hands shaking only slightly.
