I do not honestly know - I think one where it would make sense to start off with ties to a community. Which resonates with Hegron's background. Much like it was here.
But my question was not with the intent of looking for a game for Hegron - I was thinking that APs offer a conducing thread of events which can be very useful when trying to organize a game/campaign. You can always derail and make things go off the beaten path, but your baseline/underlying plot/main thread is always there if you want to return to it.
Even more than that, I feel APs can help by offering detail/fleshing out all the other stuff which is happening 'around' the game - settlements, NPCs, side plots, villages, businesses, etc. Sometimes a descriptive surrounding is enough to get a sandbox game going.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Hey GM Wolf and team, thank you very much for the kind words of encouragement, and telling me to stay in the game.
I hope you guys are not offended by it, but I am going to stick with my decision - I am really having a hard time understanding the balance of the game, and it will be disruptive for all.
I do agree GM Wolf has a ton of good ideas, and an 'out of the box' approach to GMing which is very unique. So I am sure there will be no lack of takers if you guys open recruitment again.
Wolf, one question - I know you have ran Kingmaker in the past (perhaps it is still going). Have you considered running another AP?
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Hey GM Wolf, apologies if the OOC post rubbed you the wrong way - fact is the 'scenes' seem a little too detached and sparsely detailed for me, like the environment, and so forth.
So my OOC post was a way to try and get a better feel for the area, characters, situation, etc. By ushering you for more descriptive posts.
In retrospect, I think I am probably not the player you need to push this one forward as you would like, and it seems clear more often than not I do not understand the situation, or the flow of the game.
For that reason I want to apologize, but I will bow out of the game - I think it has a lot of potential, and I am sure you will find others to better complement the play style. Best of luck, and game on!
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
I believe you are right Maqan.

Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"Damn... Are we just leaving them to die..?" - he ponders.
"There has to be some solution" - the half-orc adds to Saronis - "Father Albus has healing skills, so I can have a word with him. I will understand if he does not want to invest divine magic on these criminals, but even mundane healing should bring them back to their feet"
So, check the loot first, see if there is anything good :D Then go after Urdrsk and Maqan - explain them the situation, see if they have any ideas. Then father Albus.

Hegron finishes tying up the bandits remaining alive.
Saronis wrote: "Well Hegron, I was hoping to get some answers, these bandits are the ones that are still alive. If you will tie them up, I will see if we have any healers within." he states.
Soon he would come back shaking his head no.
"I am sure some of them still hold enough consciousness to answer some questions" - the half-orc comments - "I am not much of an interrogator, but I can try"
Wolf, are they all like at death's door, or? :D
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Hegron remained outside with Saronis, and set himself to work on the grim task - "Saronis, where should we take all these bodies to? They should not remain close to the mine entrance..."
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"Are you well friend" - Hegron nods at the halfling (Amris?), then he shouts out to his dwarven companion - "Master Stoneward, shall we follow Maqan?!"
If Urdrsk decides to go, then I will join and move out.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Round2
I assume Amelia, Jade and the two bad guys I talked about in my last action have moved away? I saw no description of their actions :P
Hegron takes chase, and attacks one of the fleeing bandits.
Punch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage if it hits: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Hegron moves to stand protectively between two of their opponents, Jade and Amelia.
Position updated on the map. Move + Total Defense. AC is now 20
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
GM Wolf wrote: Hegron, crows... I said crows... yes I said crows! Don't mess with me! XD LOL Hahahaha, you are right! I could swear I read it 10 times, and every single one of them I saw 'cows' :P
"What..?" - Hegron grunts as Maqan and Urdrsk take off - "We must stand together! It is a risk to split up in this unknown place!" - he adds, following after them after a delayed look at JAde and Amelia - "Hide off the road!"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"Were it not for the fact the dead bodies are supposed to be our enemies, this would be a scenario of horror" - Hegron comments - "The cows are feasting on corpses...?"
The cows are feasting on the bodies Wolf? :O
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"But what manner of creature is this?" - Hegron adds, moving slightly closer to inspect it.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Don't have any Knowledge (Nature) to try and understand why the crows would not scavenge it... Going for an untrained roll :P
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 ⇒ 16
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"There is an eerie feeling in the air, that much seems to be true - after living here so many years, looking back it does seem strange I never walked this path..." - Hegron adds as they continue down the path - "Yet it is time we followed it, yes?"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"I am ready to depart" - Hegron nods, then moves to head out.
Do we have a 'healer' per se? :D
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"I think I understand..." - Hegron nods - "But for now, we need to make sure Sanctuary is safe, yes?" - he adds - "I am ready to depart. What about you?"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"I am with you Master Stoneward" - Hegron nods at the dwarf, then turns to Maqan again - "It is true I have found myself sometimes torn between how to better use my fists, in the heat of combat.."
Maqan Sárkány wrote: Maqan nodded to Urdrsk, in some form of agreement. "None of this would of happened if it wasn't for her taking the stone. This lies at her feet and she will answer for it." "Her?"

Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Maqan Sárkány wrote: Maqan gave a small nod to the dwarves as a form of thanks before she left then to check on the others. She found Hegron buy some rations. "Hey." She said some what somberly. "How is everything going for you?" "I am glad Alda and Albus are safe" - he nods back - "But so many others have been wounded or killed... And without anyone understanding why... I don't know what to think, but I know I cannot just stand idly by and let them harm the people or the place which welcomed me, and offered me a home" - the half-orc seems resolute - "Even more so, after..." - Hegron pauses and stares as his own strong, knotted hands, flexing them, and feeling the strength.
Then he looks at the magical tatoo over his arms and back - "All this must have happened for a reason, don't you think?"
GM Wolf wrote: "Nice to meet you Hegron, the name is Merrick, that will be 5 silver." The dwarf shakes your hand and then gets three more rations for you. "Thank you Master Merrick" - he pays the five silver - "I will hopefully see you soon, after my travels. Good luck and prosperity with your business" - he adds, then moves away with Maqan.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
GM Wolf wrote: The shop keeper nods his head and brings over several packages of rations in wax paper. "How many you want? I have at least 20 of em." "Hmmmm, I have already five packed, and I should be able to forage some if needed" - he ponders - "I will have another five please. And thank you. My name is Hegron"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
After grabbing his gear and meager rations, Hegron is mostly ready to leave, but he does stop by the general store to make sure he can get additional provisions - "It may be useful to obtain extra travelling rations" - he comments with his companions as they approach the store.
"Well met" - he greets the shopkeeper with a nod - "I am looking for travelling provisions, mainly preserved food. Would you have any for sale?"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Could you provide us some more details about the mine and around it? That may bring up more ideas from our side - I posted a generic 'retrieves his gear and some travelling rations' for Hegron because there were no details on the mine itself. Next time I will ask.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
If we are going over particular cases, after releasing the slaves I was in the middle of a conversation with Jade that never finished - I was waiting for her to reply. That is why I did not move forward.
I don't want this to be about nitpicking - all I am saying is the responsibility for the game lies on both sides of the virtual 'table'.
Sometimes you go for a stretch without posting, then you get on the forums with a lot of availability, and you expect quick responses - however this is not always possible for the players.
Reverse side of the coin - sometimes players will also go for a stretch without posting. I am fine with pushing for at least one post a day, but then all must be on board at least the majority of the time (barring the obvious RL issues, of course) - players and GM.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Wolf, also you do not post every day, and it has happened more than once that you go for a few days at once without posting.
So I am not sure I am understanding the need for all the caps, and "yelling"?
If you believe there is something wrong or insufficient with my post rate vs yours, please feel free to address me on it. I would find it preferable.
Also sometimes I get the feeling there is only one avenue of events we are supposed to follow, and the rest of the action happening around it is somewhat "ignored", dialog left without follow up, completion, etc. Perhaps allowing multiple avenues/threads to happen simultaneously would engage more with the players?
Since we are voicing opinions out loud, that is mine.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"Let us go then" - Hegron nods, retrieves his gear and some travelling rations, bids 'see you later' to Albius and Alda, and follows after the others.
We got no 'loot' from previously, right?
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"I... I am sorry to hear that Master Urdrsk - I hope he had a good life, and an honorable passing" - Hegron steps forward, offering comfort to his dwarven companion.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Hegron follows after Urdrsk without a word, heading to the brewing hall.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"It is very good to see you father - now you just make sure to rest and recover, we will get everything sorted" - Hegron speaks softly to father Albius - "And I have a surprise" - he adds, bringing Alda forth.
Then Hegron will meet up with the others - "Anyne had a chance to speak with our dwarven friends, and understand exactly what is going on - who is attacking us and why?"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Have we arrived at the shelter GM Wolf?
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Hegron nods at the dwarf, then turns to the others - "Amelia, Jade, we need to move out" - and goes to assist Alda, and the survivors to follow suit.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"It is good to see you" - the half-orc nods at the leading dwarf - "I am Hegron - we have other survivors with us. All help is welcome" - he adds - "Everything is a blur still... Who exactly is attacking Sanctuary? Do you know?"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Hegron breathes a sigh of relief, and throws his hands up - "No bandits here good master dwarf - only survivors from the vicious attack"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Enjoy the time with your family Amelia! ;)
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
"Jade, Amelia - someone is approaching. We need to get these survivors out of here" - the half-orc warns his companions, then turns to Alda - "Alda! We need to get the people moving out of here NOW - quickly and silently. We are all in danger" - then interposes himself between the survivors and the approaching figures, trying no to give away the fact he has noticed them.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Hegron smiles at Jade, and waits for the others to return...
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Apologies for that Wolf - description is now added to alias.
The large half-orc tenses a bit as Jade approaches, but then smiles and seems to relax - "Not sure there is much to talk about. Certainly nothing as exciting as what you have probably lived through" - he chuckles - "I only remember my life after having been taken into Sanctuary by father Albius and Alda, and growing up with them. I tended the garden, the grounds and the church. I was planning on starting to recover the monastery" - Hegron pauses - "Living with them and the other villagers had been a peaceful existence. Until now..." - he stares at the sigil on his shoulder even as Jade traces it - "There is a lot going on I still do not understand"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
GM Wolf wrote: Hegron you would have the Dragon Mark of Finding. You gain +2 to perception and one of the following spell like abilities:
identify 1/day
know direction 2/day
or
locate object 1/day.
Hmmmmm.... I think I will go with Identify, why not?
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
"Immortal..? As in you do not die of natural causes..?" - Hegron mumbles to Jade, then catches himself - "Apologies for the blunt question. You do not have to answer of course"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Assuming Amris leaves with Saronis.
Hegron stays with the villagers, keeping watch over them and trying to cater to their needs as best as possible - he keeps a specially watchful eye over Alda.
"Apologies, I don't think I ever actually introduced myself" - he moves to greet Jade - "Well met. I am Hegron"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Like I have said before, weekends are mostly family time for me, so my posting is usually sparse. If the plan is having most posting concentrated on the weekend, I will have a hard time keeping up.
Otherwise during the week I usually post at least once a day.

GM Wolf wrote: Hegron, did you wait for the water to clear up? Yes, Hegron is a CLEAN half-orc :D
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Through the smoke and haze, Hegron hears a familiar voice - "Alda?!" - the sense of urgency piles until he can finally see her, tied and dirty with soot.
He rips the ropes with his bare hands, and picks her up gently out of the smoke, offering his waterskin to clear her throat - "Are you ok? Do you know where Father Albius is?" - he asks, before going to look for more captives.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Did as suggested, and thus yes - Hegron accepts Saronis' hand in getting out of the pool :D
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
I am not sure I understand - do I need a hand to get out of the pool? :P
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Round 3?
Hegron follows the others without hesitation, peering into the smoky areas, looking for adversaries or chained hostages.
Hegron also has Darkvision - not sure it makes a difference :D

Vacation time is upon us!
So I wanted to let you know I will be off on holidays from the 21st June until the 7th of July. I do check my games when possible, but it will obviously be hit and miss.
Feel free to bot me as needed.
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Hegron was trying not to burst into laughter at the exchange between Urdrsk and Saronis, but he decided to move away, allowing the bird who still accompanied him to peck at the remains of an apple.
He brought Scourge out of his pack also, for him to stretch his legs a bit - "Come now you have slept enough..." - the small creature rolled up into a curled ball made of spikes, and the bird simply fluttered away in panic at all the racket when Amelia appeared.
"Are you ok?" - the half orc asks of Amelia - "Are you unhurt?"
Perception +10 || HP: 28/23
Earlier with Urdrsk:
"Those look impressive indeed... Were you already familiar with those titles? I don't think I ever read anything about them" - the half-orc seems genuinely curious, observing the covers up close.
Kn (History) Did I?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Saronis wrote: He swims up into the main pool. Once he breaches the water he looks back just in time to see Maqan do the same. He waves to Urdrsk and Hegron, "Hail there fellows!" then continues to swim over. "Well met again! Are you well?! You seem well.." - Hegron greets Saronis.
