Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Unfortunate news, but I understand. Life before forums, always. @Everyone: Shall we bury the campaign or try to look for a new GM?
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Hasimir whispers a prayer for the souls of the deceased.
He turns his back to the corpses and pushes towards upstairs.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Oh, certainly. We don't want to leave anything lurking down here in case we need to make a hasty exit from upstairs." Hasimir agrees, and joins the search. Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Hi, I'll be travelling until Friday next week. Don't know if I get a chance to post, so please bot if needed.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"All right, good man. I see no evil in you." Hasimir agrees with Dro'gan, detecting no tarnished soul in the man. "We will look for your father and his captors. Do you have any idea where they could be?"
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Demon women, I see..." Hasimir joins the conversation.
Abadar has gifted him to peer into the souls of men, so Hasimir takes a judging look at the man. Detect evil (at will)
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Naliah Lotheed wrote: "You all right, Hasimir? You seemed rather confused for a bit." "I apologize. A bad judgement of character." Hasimir looks awkward. "Somehow she seemed trustworthy. Must be some abyssal tricks in play. I should not have succumbed to such."
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"I hope that was the last we saw of her." Hasimir states after looking around for any traces of the div. "Meanwhile, let us have a look around in the rest of this place." And seeing Dro'gan already at it, he moves by the door and is ready to give a second opinion about the possible traps. Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Is the player's turn, or was the enemy casting a spell this round still?
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Hasimir moves closer to the Paraika, but keeps his distance and studies his opposition. Perhaps the conjured servants are able to defeat the creature on their own. Move + studied target. Turn off bane
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
The 4 square box around the div is the monkey swarm, right? Can it be dispelled? Hasimir would suffer from it should he move to melee range of the div
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Dear gods..." Hasimir's eyes widen as the charm is dispelled. "How could I have ever thought that blue... tart as a friend. I'm terribly sorry, friends. Vyranos, I thank you humbly for opening my eyes. Let me repay you by getting rid of that head-creature." He takes a step closer to the flying head, and the cuts he makes with his fan happen faster than eye can follow. fighting fan, despair, bane: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 11 - 2 + 2 = 27
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Hasimir certainly doesn't know he's charmed, but others might. He started acting friendly towards the pairaka after she asked so nicely. And true, PoE is much better for clearing the charm than dispel magic.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Just because she's blue and likes to pretend to be a ram doesn't mean we couldn't be friends." Hasimir tries to explain, not quite understanding the hostility. "Gods know there's stranger things among the nobles of Oppara.""
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Yes, I don't think there's anything that would have broken the charm yet. for dispel magic: "Targeted Dispel: One object, creature, or spell is the target of the dispel magic spell. You make one dispel check (1d20 + your caster level) and compare that to the spell with highest caster level (DC = 11 + the spell’s caster level). If successful, that spell ends. If not, compare the same result to the spell with the next highest caster level. Repeat this process until you have dispelled one spell affecting the target, or you have failed to dispel every spell." I have these spells active:
Not knowing the enemy's CL, but I assume it's the highest. So when dispelling, you'd make one dispel check, and compare it against the DC of the charm spell. If it fails, start going down the list until one spell is dispelled.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Right, Dro'gan, yes. We should get rid of these heads, and then talk it over a cup of tea." Clearly these floating heads are out of control, and need to be dealt with before the situation can calm down. Hasimir takes a step forwards, and delivers a couple of cuts with the sharp edge of his fan.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Also, I'm not quite sure how Hasimir would work, being charmed. He now regards the blue div as a friend/ally, but at the same his other allies are being attacked by the heads. "It's clearly some sort of misunderstanding..."
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Even if this is a more intrigue-heavy campaign, this is still pathfinder I think. So all the higher-level shenigans apply. Best be prepared against DR and swarms and flying and invisible and whatnot. Heh, having said that and looking at my character sheet, I have absolutely nothing that would work against swarms. Need to go shopping, methinks. And looks like Hasimir is going to be good buddies with the div, so the combat is all on you. No pressure :)
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Fine, let's go with that They got this all wrong... Why did they have to attack the blue lady - she seems very trustworthy. "Hold on here!" he cries out to his companions. "We all started with a wrong foot here. Cease all that fighting and let's have a chat with that nice blue lady over there." The div's summoned creatures don't seem to be very peaceful, however...
"You too, disembodied heads... Calm down, and let's discuss this over a cup of tea."
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Will save: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 10 - 2 = 16 That's a fail. But there's this clause: "If the creature is currently being threatened or attacked by you or your allies, however, it receives a +5 bonus on its saving throw." Hasimir is not being attacked at the moment, but is he being threatened as his allies are under attack?
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Good heavens! Disembodied heads and monkeys! I should just stand back and see how this play unfolds." Hasimir states, but doesn't stand back. Instead, he takes out his scroll of align weapon and unleashes the magic onto his war fan. ie. making the weapon good-aligned Then he takes a battle-stance, and prepares to take on the enemies. swift: enter snake style if attacked: AC from snake style: 1d20 + 22 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 22 - 2 = 38 vs. first attack only
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Initiative: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 Tied as well. I think ties are resolved by initiative bonus (and if that is a tie, then a roll-off). "Commendable, Naliah. A horned woman indeed." Hasimir notes. He wonders if this is the div they were expecting. Kn. Planes: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 4 = 10
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Hasimir observers, and keeps his distance to the ram, to the trap, and to Naliah. Something is not right here - let's see if a crossbow bolt sheds more light. Just to note: Hasimir still has see invisible in case there's any invisible enemies lurking about
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Same for Hasimir, I suppose - he was also affected
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Best put the ram out of its misery." Hasimir nods to Naliah. He studies the surroundings. "I'd rather not get anywhere near that trap, unless someone can disable it. The catwalk would offer us a way to get around the machinery." Are the stairs closest to us in working order, and the ones far left the ones that are wrecked?
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
BTW, did we happen to have a wand of CLW?
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Well done, darling. We shan't suffer the beast to live." Hasimir commends Amandine for her brutal finisher. He looks at his blood-covered fan, and with a rapid snap of his wrist shakes the blood off the weapon, leaving a crimson arc painted on the wall. CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Could there be traps? Why would anyone put traps on doors inside a slaughterhouse? On the other hand, why would anyone have a barghest guarding a room? And he looks for traps. Perception +14. GM rolls, I suppose? If there's no traps found, he'll step through the door.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Bad doggy..." Hasimir looks at his arm where the barghest's claw had torn flesh and clothing. "Bad, bad doggy..." He stares at the beast with menace in his eyes, and his fan takes on an unnatural glow. Then, without losing eye contact, the fan moves lighting-fast, making two quick strokes at the creature. swift: outsider bane
Snake style, if attacked next round: AC vs first attack: sense motive: 1d20 + 22 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 22 - 2 = 35
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
will save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 With the revelation of the barghest, a sudden despair hits Hasimir. Trapped in a room with such a beast - can they survive!? A primitive fight-or-flee reaction is about to surface, but Hasimir chooses to fight. He puts his faith in Abadar, casting a spell to gain His favor, and prepares himself to fight the creature. Standard: Cast divine favor
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Naliah's soundless message alerts Hasimir from his study of the objects around him. He casts see invisibility, and takes a new look around him.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
By the entrance, Hasimir casts shield of faith so Abadar would protect him against dangers to come.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
I actually took out a measure (after converting to metric :P), and come to the same conclusion - you'd need to be small. Some very lean small-headed elf might be able to go through, naked. :D But ofc if GM says one of us could do it, then let's do it. Or we can go back and buy a scroll/potion of reduce person, if we don't want to use the gaseous form
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"The smell in here does not bode well.." Hasimir covers his nose with an embroidered handkerchief. He looks around while Amandine and Naliah study the doors. "The windows are too small to fit through. With some magic to make us small we could do it. Also, did I hear someone mentioning potions of gaseous form earlier? That would get one of us through to unbar the door." He leans closer to see if there's enough of a gap of cracks around the doors. "If the potion is an option, I can go in. Invisible, of course." Or if someone else wants to go, I can cast invisibility on him/her

Vyranos Dosomal wrote: If I’m reading the rules correctly they don’t consume a daily spell slot so long as the spells are of 3rd level and lower. Is that correct or am I missing something? Asking because this is my first time using a metamagic rod. You use spell slot as normal (ie. 1st level slots for the spells you mentioned). But you don't have to use higher-level slots as it would normally with metamagic feats. So extended mage armor is still 1st level. Plus you do not need to have the metamagic feat. The metamagic rods are quite powerful, indeed. And you're correct about the durations. Extended mage armor is 14 hours and extended shield is 14 minutes. @Naliah: Do you have the poison use talent? If not, there is a 5% chance of accidentally poisoning yourself when applying the poison (if you were planning to use them) In general I believe the old party should claim/sell the loot. IIRC, us newcomers have full WBL, so might be better equipped. At least that's the way it usually is with AP's.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"I'll say... The building has seen better days." Hasimir observes, shaking his head. "And yes, let us hope for multiple entrances. I for one would rather not enter as livestock to the slaughter." But before moving any further, Hasimir takes a elaborate mahogany wand from his bag. He presents it to Vyranos, handle first.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
We were planning to go to the slaughterhouse first, right? And as far as we know, no petrification in there? "Just" a div, and whatever harm it can bring. (Never harms to be prepared for all manners of dangers, of course)
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
I'd like to buy a scroll of align weapon, and a cold iron kama (or any light monk weapon*), if available. *) Travelling kettle for comic relief and tea-related puns.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Doing the shopping ourselves? How awfully proletarian..." Hasimir says, getting up from his comfy chair. "But some acquisitions are better not left for the servants. Lead the way."
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Cold iron... Yes, a fine and cost-effective solution to the unnatural. We could also take a look at the weapon shops so everyone would have their favorite weapons in proper metal." Hasimir muses, and drains the last of tea from his cup. "Also there is magic to align one's weapon with holiness. Temples could have scrolls for sale."
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"To kill a div..? An interesting proposal. Let me think a moment..." Kn. planes, monster lore: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 4 = 28
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
It looks like our friend covid has gone nowhere :( But glad to hear you're ok, Amandine. @Dro'gan: AFAIK Stone to flesh is the only cure, and that is level 6 spell, I think. And the whole lot of them turned to stone definitely sounds like basilisk or gorgon or medusa etc. Better go shopping mirrors before investigating :)
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"You do have a fair point there, Dro'gan. Allies are good. And we surely want the troops with us before taking a move against the Commander Staubel." Hasimir pauses, takes a slice of lemon and squeezes it into his tea. Taking his time, he grabs his spoon and stirs the tea a few times. Then, it's time to take a careful sip. "Ahh..." He sighs. "But turning a company of men back to flesh from stone requires some powerful magic. I doubt we have such means at our disposal. Or have I estimated our resources completely wrong?" Another pause, another sip. "With that in mind, the slaughterhouse does indeed sound like a good place to start."
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Angry soldier, oh my... Best hope we'll stay out of her way then. Is there anything we should know about the deaths of her friends?" Hasimir inquires, twirling his mustache. But as soon as the question has escaped his lips, the nobleman's attention is on the tin canister. "Naliah, dear... You are wise beyond your years. I am beginning to regret I did not take my own blends with me. I can only hope the locals will know their tea."
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
"Master Dro'gan, Miss Amandine! Such a delight meeting you! Such a delight!" Hasimir greets the two, handing out his 'letter of recommendation' as he speaks. He sounds very much like Taldan nobility - posh accent with very careful pronunciation. Loud, too. "Hasimir Clement, at your service," he continues with a gracious bow. The nobility is expressed in his choice of clothing as well - expensive and unpractical. Standing by his lean companions, he looks rather 'well-fed' in comparison and not at all suited for adventuring life. When the talk turns to leaving the streets, his face brightens.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Sounds like a plan. Then let's just set up a scene and start playing.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Yes, being reinforcements work as well for brining everyone together.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Ok, most natural way of Hasimir meeting the party would be at the temple of Abadar, should the party go there to meet the priest. Being a man of cloth (of sorts, anyway) himself, Hasimir would probably know the local clergy already. He could have been assigned to investigate the Cult of the Twilight Child (sounds like very inquisitorial thing to do). But there were other leads as well, that could be of interest. But would it make sense to introduce Naliah and Vyranos to the party in the same scene? In which case we should figure out where and why the three would join the party. Could the newcomers know each other already? -- Adjustments to Hasimir's crunch: Realizing two-weapon fighting doesn't work too well with bane, I dipped to monk. Besides flurry, Hasimir is now ready for action in his best tailored suits without need for armor.
Human Male Inquisitor 6 / UC Monk 1 | HP:44/53 | AC: 28 (23 Tch, 22 Fl)
Hi, thanks for having me. I’ll tinker with the build a bit, but that doesn’t prevent planning how introduce Hasimir to the story… According to my backstory, Hasimir is already an agent working for Martella so he could be assigned to help in the current party’s investogation. I’ll get back to the gameplay for ideas |
