Waiting for a response Haran takes a seat and removes a large pot of honey from his pack, casting a spell, "Dna Hg'Ni Ple'h," to slowly transport gobbits of honey into his open maw, as if he is being fed by an invisible hand. "Mmmmm, um, um, pardon me, would anyone care for some? Most delectable, I like to place a sprig of jasmine in the pot and it just adds a subtle touch the complements the honey perfectly. It tastes even better if you imagine you are a bear..."

Apologies thought I had posted something yesterday, but the site was playing silly buggers and evidently it did not go through. Haran wheezing loudly unfolds his chair and slumps into sucking in great breaths as he listens and thinks, Legacy of Fire, hmmm, it rings some sort of bell. Producing the card in question he holds it out to his companions in case any have yet to see it while studying it more closely himself. To Garavel he asks, "Could you please elaborate as to why you feel that way about Dashki? Obviously the traits that might inspire such an opinion might also inspire personal dislike, and I trust you will appreciate we must strive to analyse and differentiate between motivations in order to seek the truth of the matter." To clarify can we assume that Dashki is an expert on gnolls, not an expert who is a gnoll? Pretty sure, but don't want to assume JIC. Knowledge History: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Cantrips are infinite in PF DM Default - hence the removal of Cure Minor Wounds. Trotting over to the water Haran sets his folded chair down flat, "Josria, pile buckets on here, then we will carefully take, what ten at a time, it should be more efficient and less laborious both," With care he fills several buckets two at a time and places them upon the chair using it like a stretcher and hopefully having Josria do the same and take up the other end to carry them over like a stretcher. Each bucket is balanced against the others so they help support each other. "The delay should be outweighed by the application of a large amount of water in a shorter time..."

Josria a gallon of water, which would be a teeny tiny bucket weighs 8lbs, the standard modern bucket is 5 gallon so 40+lbs, prestidigitation has a maximum weight limit of 1lb. You probably could just about lift a can of coke.

I think so, for Shining Force at least, though I have not played either of those series. Shining in the Darkness is a party dungeons crawler, the series departed heavily from the format, and I liked the Shining Force games very much, but I loved Shining in the Darkness.

Shining Force, god I loved that game - though its predecessor Shining in the Darkness is right up there in my favourite games of all time, possibly because it was the first RPG I ever played :) Still play it now and then.

Earlier. Haran pulls a face, "Maybe exercise is okay for others, but I fear I am allergic. It is against my religion. Usually wholly unnecessary with proper planning and preparation. Why I have even heard of people keeling over and dying from such foolish exertions, no thank you!" Post Fire Plucking the card from his chest and regarding it with interest before tucking it away in a pocket Haran nods to Josria. Ambling forward parasol in hand he produces his waterskin raising it above his parasol and pouring it onto the surface so the water flows down and onto the top of the burning wagon. "Reja I trust you still have that delightful create water orison prepared? Would that we arcanists could emulate it!" 2 rounds of actions there I believe if rounds are important.

"Cool drinks, clean clothes, turkey flavoured vulture, its a wonderful spell for the busy Wizard on the go - honestly smell my camel... Strawberry! Though the ungrateful brute does not seem to keen."

Its nice that we have a number of casters, can I assume there will be no issues with me dropping detect magic as a cantrip? Divination and Enchantment are Haran's opposition schools so it costs him 2 cantrip slots. For the purpose of possible spellbook sharing Haran's spellbook contains... Adhesive Spittle

"Ah, but I must admit to a certain affection for dust! And while my own books are of course scrupulously well cared for there is something about a dusty disordered library that renders it all the more appealing, the sense that one is discovering some long forgotten knowledge... Though of course the end goal would be a proper catalogue and full restoration, but still... Outside of course "dust" is less appealing, if I did not prestidigitate myself every few minutes I hate to think what the sand would be doing to my tender parts - which for the record is all of them, my parts that is."

Haran smiles ruefully, "Well of course I speak with all the bias of one who has let himself go and gotten lost while he was at it - in a pantry no doubt. But I maintain that corpulence is the true secret, or at least a true secret, to the acquisition of phenomenal cosmic power - albeit rather more complex than that." Smiling down at Naseem he adds, "You know that is a fascinating subject, I would postulate that Reja serves as some sort of conduit and if you are indeed greater upon your home plane it is likely her abilities that limit your physical manifestation upon this plane. Presumably then as her power as a practitioner increases you will become closer and closer to your true form... Hmmm, maybe I could take some measurements and examine you later it would make a wonderful topic for a paper."

Hope you do not mind me sticking my oar in Josria, but since I seem to feel a similar way as a GM I'll share my reasoning, feel free to ignore :) Aasimars are widely acknowledged as being higher powered than the core races, if you use the race builder rules humans are 9 RP while Aasimar are 15. They get better stat bonuses, which can be tailored to what you want with the different varieties, get a powerful spell-like ability, get resistance 5 to 4 energy types, skill bonuses, darkvision, and immunity to spells that target humanoids. Any one of those abilities is probably worth the bonus feat, the resistances likely several times over.

It was hard to miss Haran, aside from his great girth the wizard constantly carried a sturdy parasol to protect him from the sun and carried a folding chair - with a special notch so the parasol could be placed over it. He had not fared well with the camels, the creatures unenthused about carrying his bulk, and the wizard had fallen several times while trying to both read and hold his parasol which had resulted in some hot words for his humped conveyance. Haran had made it quite clear that he was only on the journey at the behest of the Pathfinder Society, obviously reveling in his new membership, "Oh, yes, they said I was the first Pathfinder to pass his initiation rite while seated. Now of course I understand that will not always be practical, but, well, I have always believed in the conservation of energy where possible. I just completed my journey to Absalom and received my Wayfinder, meant to go for years, but you know how it is always another book to devour, maybe I should have waited another month or so! Then I would not be sweating like a teenage boy in a harem!" Despite his idiocincracies Haran had proven to be helpful, provided it called for no significant physical exertion on his part, offering to prestidigitate clean anyone or thing, and supplementing supplies by shooting down distant vultures with magic missiles, "It is a bit of an acquired taste, but I read up on vulture recipes before coming out to this thrice cursed desert - really the outdoors is hideously overrated - and it turns out they are a delicacy! Although I suspect that might be a polite way of saying that you take what you can get out here."

Ah great, thanks, always good to have clarity on how stuff works :) Very interested to see the elemental ally's in play, my base assumption is that in terms of combat power the archetype is slightly less powerful than the standard druid, but that it could potentially have more versatility. Looks to be well balanced to me :)

Very pleased to be onboard, looking forward to getting stuck in :) My biggest character goal, is to be able to perform the occasional combat while having Haran sitting upon his folding chair - he is essentially a magic missile specialist so he won't be doing it if he is unable to contribute. Since there are no rules for the folding chair may I suggest it can be set up as a move action? Perhaps sitting could be free, but rising could take a move?
Presenting TawnyKnight's corpulent newly anointed Pathfinder Wizard. Eventually heading for the Bloatmage PRC, which is not evil, Haran is neutral good, though a bit crabby when forced to exert himself too much. Background:
Haran clung to the Seasprite's rail with grim determination, glowering at the sea, "I'll be damned if I'll let you keep me from enjoying my cheese, you briny puddle!" The corpulent wizard called, taking a great mouthful from the wedge of cheese in his free hand and forcing it down past the nausea. His long sea voyage had been hard work, but despite the constant tossing to and fro he had managed to exhaust his snack supplies and was looking forward to setting to a proper Keleshite market to restock.
Finally Katapesh was in sight and after his long voyage to fabled Absalom to seek out and join The Pathfinder Society he was back, tasked with a mission to accompany some fellow to an abandoned village and seek out the cause, hardly the heroic beginning he had envisioned, but an intriguing mystery. Once back on blessed Keleshi soil he unfolded his ever reliable folding chair, affixing his parasol to the back of it for some shade as was his custom, and indulged himself in a well earned rest from the unpleasant weaving of the seas. The thought of the journey back to Katapesh was daunting, but he would pay to ride in a caravan and simply study his spells under the shielding canvas. Born in Katapesh his mother a bookseller on the Night Stalls, and his father a Librarian to The Guild of Alchemists and Potion makers books had been most of Haran's life. In particular he loved The Pathfinder Chronicles soaking up the tales of exotic locales and thrilling adventure. But when he considered his own portly personage in terms of adventuring he knew he could not match the physical prowess of his heroes, sure he could exercise but it seemed like an awful sweaty business and the obvious alternative, magic, could be gained through reading in a comfortable chair. So he sought out every tome of magic he could, and eventually happened upon a book that spoke of mages who used their swollen bodies to empower their magic. This was of course tremendously appealing, practically rendering snacking a necessity, rather than just a pleasure, and promising to both increase his magical might and justify the fact that he was nearly as wide as he was tall. He would take the mocking name his peers had given him and make it his own, Haran the Wide would become a hero and the guttersnipes who dared mock him would fester in their own bitterness as he rose to stardom. Of course The Pathfinder's had been sceptical, but quick demonstration of magical prowess had soon put paid to their doubts. Now the proud owner of a Wayfinder, Haran was ready and eager to begin writing his own Chronicles - but intended to do so with every comfort possible. Appearance:
Haran stands five and a half feet tall, and perhaps a foot less in girth. A fastidious man he typically dresses in long loose fitting robes that both announce him as a wizard and allow him to move freely and stay relatively cool. He wears his thick brown hair pulled back and tied into a short ponytail and moves with small shuffling steps. Personality: Haran is a self centred person, who wants to do good primarily because it makes him look good, and allows him to congratulate himself. He tends to be sarcastic, and has poor impulse control, especially in regard to food. He has a dry sense of humour and is a friendly fellow, even if he does tend to find maintaining relationships a bit of a chore.
@DM Default my character is designed to head for the Bloatmage PRC, is this acceptable - the main issue being that I think it was published pre pathfinder. It seems like it requires no conversion and can be ported straight over, but if that is not acceptable I can just have his corpulence be a flavour thing easily enough. Mainly he will be a over weight magic missile focused Wizard who will carry a folding chair and make use of it at the slightest opportunity. As I love the image of him taking a seat and hurling magic at foes from it. |
