Hanmi spends the time of the return trip polishing (unpolishing?) the repairs to Manta. Of particular interest to him are the nanites of the swarm and the mechanic explores ways the technology may upgrade his little bot.

He appreciates Jewel's insights if any, but otherwise just enjoys the many varieties of smaller bipeds his companions represent and happy that he got to meet them all.

Am I right in thinking this is part 1 of X? If so do I want to play Hanmi through them all or can I split it to my other characters?

I know he is a despotic, but our mission was to befriend him. Letting him know about the vesk ship's help (I agree it may lead to an investigation :)

"Didn't you say this portal is used to reach Vesk 7? Well it doesn't now. HOOHOO HO. We went through the portal. The other side is, like your workers have noted, lacking atmosphere. There is a tunnel which led to the surface and from there we were able to ascertain the location as the moon." the marlamaw does some calculations, then lifts his datapad to reveal a steeply climbing graph. "Chances are good, that within a day or so the portal will lead strait to empty space."

"The tunnel also collapsed which took way too long to dig out again." The mechanic checks a display on the chest of his suit. "Eighty-seven percent. I did not think the protective gear of my suit was going to make it. Very deadly."

Hanmi has little to contribute, concerned of giving up a secret that isn't his own.

I am all good keeping the two living folks secrets. Do we mention the vesk's ship? As an example of the lethal environment maybe?

I did read it correctly :) Manta was unharmed for the first couple of rests, basically two repairs.

Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
shoot it!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4, semi automatic: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Assuming I did repair Manta during both the rest in the ship and while Mathun was doing their preparations, Manta will be at 16hp. If I can only do it once (sorry I do not know how that is interpreted) Manta is at 13 hp. Hanmi will have burned resolve to return to full stamina (2 of 4rp).

Hanmi 'runs' forward. Again, concerned that he will prevent others from getting to the gate he holds back, instead pulling out his pistol. "Up the wall," he commands the drone. Much faster the drone also moves forward and begins climbing the wall next to the mechanic.

"I understand you are a star shaman. What do you see when you stare at the stars?" Hanmi had never experienced flight, and being among the stars was unimaginable. That was before the Starfinders of course. Eventually, he will ask if the shaman may even see a path home for the Starfinders so they may continue exploring the indigo firmament.

As Dolain lifts the large sea-born over the chasm, the Marlowmaw remembers something about lunar fey and powers of gravity, refracted light, or other lunar powers. "I have never been carried by a fey before. You are the albedo lucandrians are you not? HO Hoo Hoo. From earlier culture check.

"I don't suppose you know anything about the gates do you?"

At the first challenge, the marlomaw is stymied. He is completely dependent on his fellow. Unless untrained check is an option?

On the second challenge, Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 It goes quite poorly for he mechanic.

Manta's feet stick to the wall with a mechanical schlump, schlump, schlump as Hanmi directs him up trailing the rope. Athletics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Everyone is still in their space suits, Hanmi shouts "Head for the door?" unless he hears otherwise, he moves to the door and opens it. That is safe to do so correct? Manta moves 40' toward the trap as bait.

His eyes widen as he thinks this. "That would be worse wouldn't it?"

On his turn looking for something clever... Hanmi Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 Manta will try and get out of the swarm's area, going straight up the wall if it has to.

That move works for me, thanks! I briefly looked at my chronicles for the discrepancies, but didn't find anything. I will give it a more thorough look this weekend, so I will trust this inventory.

Hanmi pulls out his last grenade as Manta moves north. Once all his allies are clear he launches the weapon at the swarm and reaches for the next. "Oh. Hum." he says after realizing the holster is empty.

I should have been more clear in my last post. I would like to move in and toss a grenade, and I have a couple more once within range. Manta has a decent Reflex, (probably not PC good) but could trigger the trap.

"Santos? Can you lead them to the trap?" Hanmi booms out a chuckle just thinking about the luck. "I need to get in there," the marlomaw pauses for dramatic effect, "because I am holding a thermal detonator."

Between size and speed, Hanmi Booki has no where to go except into the 'trapped'zone. Unless I can occupy the same square as an ally? I will delay.

Hanmi lacks the speed and the space to get any closer, so he draws a grenade from his belt and issues a command to Manta. The bot moves a little then fires its gun the swarm.

Hanmi avoids the potential explosion and sends the small bot to reconnoiter. "Reconnoiter is a cool word. You should hear it under the water, it tickles my lip!"

The upper right of the ship can be sealed? Per the map that seems to be the damaged bit so I want to double check. And make sure we are on the correct side. Also will we be able to open the door when fixed? (This will determine which side Manta is on.)

A panel slides open on the top surface of Manta and a mechanical arm unfolds. The arm reaches to the panel on the door and begins making repairs. The little drone begins reversing the energy polarity of the field. With the help of Jewel, Manta begins chirping the success.

engineering: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 (or we can have Manta aid Jewel?)

"Hold on Manta, let's not get ahead of our selves."

Knowing he will fill the airlock on his own, Hanmi lets the drone fix the door while everyone else is goes through first. Hanmi can make the check at +10 instead of manta if time is not an issue. Is everyone going in?

Hanmi puts the feed from Manta's camera onto his data pad so the others can see. "I will try and close that door hooho" and directs Manta to the doors control.

"The rest of you should go in. If the entire ship is not sealed, we will want to get it closed as quickly as possible."

With a series of flashing lights, Hanmi connects his visor and the drone. Once the visuals are set, the mechanic checks* the doors and begins the depressurization** sequence*. Then he opens the doors and the drone steps into the airlock. Any one else going through the first round? Room for three more.

Once inside, the drone climbs to a space above the door, folds its legs down and seems to become a piece of the wall.*** The airlock then cycles through in the other direction* and the inner doors are opened. Manta pauses. Then pauses some more. Then waits a minute longer. Then, and only if nothing has reacted to the doors, only then does Hanmi, watching through his remote connection, direct Manta to begin its stealthy search.***

Hanmi lets the others know that this ship is not receiving any communication. "It may not even be transport, but at least it should be shelter."

"That has to be one of the most horrifying things I can imagine." Hanmi says of the two vesk. "Dying of asphyxiation, just because your armor's environmental protections ran out." It is enough to make me wish I never ventured out to space.

The mechanic measures the gravity, the atmosphere, and most telling the temperatures. "This must be Traverse, the "shared" moon," he says. Adding the moon transits between Vesk-7 and Vesk-8 when the two icy planets pass near each other twice during their orbits around Ghavaniska's sun.

The marlowmaw booms a deep HooHoHoo. He quickly consults with Manta and his rig before nodding to himself. "Look there, you can see Vesk 8. and the constellation behind it is tukturjuk. Given the time when we left the portal we must be on the northeastern hemisphere." He pauses while conferring with his data rig and lets out a curse. "That puts us at least a week's walk from the nearest settlement or outpost." And who said there would be no need for a hovercycle on this mission? ;)

"A ship, where?" seeing the unnatural formation on the horizon. "That is good, he laughs. "Otherwise we would have been frozen before we made it to the first marker."

He collects the bodies of the two vesk onto a makeshift sledge. "We should not tarry." he says and starts shuffling toward the ship.

Can we attempt to hail the ship? Or to identify it?

Before any of the Starfinders enter the portal, Hanmi sends Manta through to determine environment & safety. The mechanic seals his suit, draws a pistol and follows the others in.

"Are you saying the portals have something to do with the moon? Is that where the Meet happens? After a minute he asks, "Has anyone asked the kothamas where this goes?"

Hanmi taps a few things on data pad and adjusts his helmet's visor. Manta clomps steadily along the wall stopping near the mechanics head. A brief flashing of lights passes between the two as the look at the portal.

"No. I want visuals." the marlowmaw lets out a booming sigh. "Just visuals The lights flicker again. "Yes, I can see it is stone." Finally he gives up. "I got nothing."

"Greetings Rahla, we were told we would have the pleasure of your guidance." The marlomaw nods his head to Captain Gwar in agreement. "I do not however remember anything of a portal."

Her words make it sound much more than a mere entrance to the mines. Didn't we learn the shimmerstone was magical in nature? I've got a... bad feeling bout this.

Hanmi already has cold resistance, but I think the reconfigurable version sounds cool (what is it called?) He does want to purchase a couple MK1 healing serums.

Also I plan to buy a hovercycle/personal transport. I am not sure which one yet, so if it matters for this scenario, please let me know & I will bite the bullet. If not I will decide & purchase at the end of this scenario. (visions of Akira in this character).

Now I know, there were stars above that sky. I can relate with the kothamas in that way.

How does one prepare for volcanoes? The mechanic explains what he knows of Vesk-7 and Vesk-8. Every 36‑years they trade their shared moon Traverse when they pass each other. "This isn’t happening now. In fact and Traverse and Vesk-8 are currently at their furthest point in orbit.

He continues, Vesk-8 is a cold, mountainous, and volcanically active world, whose geology is strongly influenced by the gravity of its moon and sister planet. The gravitational impact on Traverse as it transfers between the worlds is even greater, triggering volcanic eruptions on the moon. The eruptions result in deep lava trenches on the moon’s surface. The moon is also frequently impacted by space debris, which kick up fogs of suspended particles.

Is 15 KAC/EAC low? Should I consider upgrading my armor or continue to save up for that really cool hover bike I always wanted?

"This anomaly. Is it confined to a single cavern (complex) or are.there others in other areas?" The mechanic adjusts the sensors he shares with Manga before asking, "Is it mechanical in nature? Biological or physical maybe?"

Maybe a respectable pilot should know this, but Hanmi asks about the shimmer stone: what it is used for, what does it look like, how is it mined, how valuable it is, and maybe even the statistics of the operations there.

When the door opens a small drone steps in. Two protruding fins on the front break up what would flat circle. It walks on two metallic legs into into the center of the room. It scans everyone in the room, then walks to and then up the wall.

Before the door can close again a smiling marlowmaw enters the room. His bright purple and yellow skin is mostly hidden under his flight suit which bears manyockets, tools, clips, tubes, armor plates and other such gear. The heavy voice, sometimes felt in the chest of listeners like the percussion section of a marching band, rumbles into the room as he introduces himself with a laugh. "Hello Starfinders," he laughs. "HOOHOOHO. I am Hanmi Booki. That is manta, my aid.". The towering mechanic rolls his shoulder as if to cross the table, before realizing the two-dimension limit to movement here. He shrugs it off before undulating slowly to a seat.
"Grimace. Captain. Pleasure to meet you. HOOHOO HO."
