Happy (belated) Mid-Autumn Festival, Mort!

We celebrated that just now… y’know, ’cause Western Hemisphere.

Hmm… @Mort, that may have not worked quite like it did in my head.

Now that I think of it, the nat.20 did not provoke. The nat.1 did. So that means I gotta pray Baldy’s AC saves her… but also that Hanako still needs one Acro roll? (Because the woman still has her AoO whereas the creature does not.) Is that correct?

Hanako zips past while Baldy distracts, and prays the fairy survives her crazy stunt.

Will transform to human-shape if Hanako is safely out of reach.

Hanako understands the words, but she can’t safely dart past two foes. She looks at her little fairy friend. She’s hurt too…

I am asking if she can use a Move action to grab Baldy and Swift to step down from the Stela. Or Swift to grab Baldy and Move to step down. Either way. I’m just not sure if grabbing a willing diminutive familiar can be done like that… she’s still a person so even to help her, that may be Standard, and I used my Standard.

Of course, if Baldhart can make a Swift 5’ step after her Full Round action, she and Hanako can both step down on their own! (Way simpler that way!)

Hanako transforms to free herself.

Fox Shape is Standard! If she can Move + Step to grab Baldhart and step down, she does so...
…stealthily!: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (15) + 22 = 37

Silvery Grey Black:
Nothing more Hanako can do for now, then?

Pensive like a fox:
Hanako sniffs around. (Out of body, so I doubt scent applies. Trying anyway!)

Perc: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Hanako examines the pensives. She assumes that, by keeping her distance from the tieflings, she will not be easily detected. So what does this place have to do with me? Is this my memory, or is this a similar establishment in Thrushmoor? If the latter, perhaps Hanako’s body is here. (Let me know if I’m playing her as too self-aware. I actually don’t know the answer to Hanako’s question, and find both scenarios equally plausible.)

Xanetia:
Hanako watches the way Xanetia reacts.

So cute! Is she a bad person, or just working for one? I must remember the name Xanetia, should I one day meet her in the flesh.

She follows her, again doing her best not the get caught.

Am I being ‘smoked’ in the main room. And what does that even mean?

Private:
…like a fox!

Stealth: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (20) + 22 = 42

Hanako tries passing through the elder’s door, hoping to listen without being noticed.

Hanako becomes a fox and leaps into Baldhart’s strong arms.

(She will point the way with her tail if Baldy seems lost.)

Hanako is happy to lend an ear… and a nose!

Perc (back door: listen, scent): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

In fox form, Hanako moves stealthily…

Stealth, competence: 1d20 + 12 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 12 + 10 + 2 = 31
Perception, Scent, competence: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 2 = 27

Have fun!!!

Saved by my size bonus to stealth!
Hanako tries to get the scent.

Perception, scent: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Clarification: are these fancy hedges shaped to form griffins, etc.? Or did I notice actual griffins in a thick hedge wall? If not actual griffins, does Hanako’s scent help her determine what is within the hedge: humanoid, animal or plant? Or animated corpse? Or a totally unfamiliar scent?

Baldhart is released as Hanako’s hands become tiny paws!

The fox tries to get a closer look and catch the scent of who-or-whatever lurks!

Stealth: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (3) + 22 = 25
Perception w/ scent: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Edit - Uh…ohhhh…!

@Mort,
What do you mean by “the skill keyed is fly?” Does that mean that its bearer gets +2 INT and the Fly skill maxed out? (Since adding 2 INT would get you your level’s worth of SP?)

New Chapel:
Hanako enjoys the feeling of large fingers caressing her fur… until she looks up at those sad baggy eyes.

…when the rope is lowered enough, a fox jumps out of the bucket.

Acro: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33

Hanako is a bit clumsy when she pokes her head up to peer (and explore if the coast is clear), but her tiny animal form might go easily unnoticed.

Stealth: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (10) + 21 = 31
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

—in fox form!

Sorry—inspire courage is not in effect. I spent the last of the day’s BP a round or two ago.

The little fox grins at the hideous pollen-colored outline.

So it’s 1d2 (1 misses) if you attack, but still 1d5 (1 misses) if you ready the attack? But now we know which direction the attack will come from without the need of a fox nose, right?
_
Of course, the real victory is getting the monster to waste a natural 20 on a fort save!

Hanako’s nose follows the scent. Her tail points the way.

If the creature comes from a direction where no ally will get caught in the blast, Hanako’s flower sprays pollen toward the creature. (Readied action if possible. Not sure a familiar can do that, or if the pollen will stick to the creature so it can be seen. It’s not glitterdust, but worth a try?)

1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds to replenish pollen.

Hanako’s tail points north. (She does NOT make a move toward the creature!)

In fox form, Hanako tries to let her nose find what her eyes cannot. Her flower dances about her fur to help.

Spent last 2 BP on Inspire Competence
Perc, scent: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 = 20

If Hanako can catch the monster’s scent, her tail will point its direction.

Hanako changes, and this time, she watches the ground for any footprints. She sniffs around for whatever creature may lurk here, whether man or beast (or witch).

Perc: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Surv: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Surv 15, if I can Take Ten for a long duration, when not under duress.

In the Cave:
Survival w/ Scent: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 (18 if Perception)
Hanako tries to get a whiff of the cave to learn if there is human-ish scent.

But it seems foolish to stick around as such a defenseless creature. The animated plant is not like the flower she wears in her hair. Hanako backs out of the cave.

Standard: surv (or perc) check to recognize human(oid) scent.
Move: back out the way I came in!

Before transforming, Hanako gives Piotr her flowers, explaining that the flowers might go to her if she’s in danger.

A flowering lattice has 5ft movement. It won’t go fast! I assume it will let Piotr carry it if he’s rushing to Hanako.

In her fox shape, Hanako moves along very slowly, using her small size to go where no human can, skittering along the edge of the cave wall, pausing in shadows, watching for signs of life.

Stealth: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37

Hanako then transforms from seemingly-ordinary human to seemingly-ordinary fox.

…like a fox.

Do I get a NSFW scene involving Hanako and Ann? =P

You want me to put the hawt in hot tub, ehhh...?

Kilarra Dimir wrote:
I feel nothing! Not the wind on my face, nor the spray of the sea... nor the warmth of a woman's flesh...

Oh.

Never mind, then.

Hanako becomes a fox. She then looks up to Kilarra and Garrosh. If no one objects, she moves swiftly and silently to where the live yellows are—and the crucified bodies.

She moves no further than necessary and peers into the room from a good hiding place, watching and listening. Her main objective is to determine whether it is safe to camp upstairs. Or for that matter, is the meeting with Aggra so mysterious to these cultists that no one would question bodies being brought down?

Stealth: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

She is. Not sure if the mist will put her to sleep, either because she’s still immune even if she changes to a form with a stronger nose ~or~ because it’s not the same mist.
_
If still awake, I suppose scent would tell me whether it’s the same mist as those last guys or a different mist.

A few sakura petals flutter from Hanako’s back. Her familiar slips to Hanako’s underbelly for safety.

After a minute (or maybe a few)…

Hanako nods.

—and Hanako becomes a fox!

She chitters. Only another fox would know what she’s actually saying.

GM:
Given Garroth's warning, Hanako decides not to go beyond the corner.

She will simply report what she sees, unless:

If there is a straight path to a closed door (and clearly no one alive or dead in the hall), Hanako will form a smiley face using seven stones or pieces of rubble—in human form, if she has enough space to become that big. The smiley face would be on the floor where a doormat would go, and inverted from Hanako's POV. Someone opening the door from the other side would see the smile, confirming Hanako was here.

In other words, next GM post you can bot me back to the party in fox form.
...
...unless of course you have a scary surprise waiting around the corner, and my Init +7 isn't twitchy enough for me to flee the danger.

GM:
Hanako continues to move stealthily, sniffing as she approaches the corner. She peers first…

In case my current rolls no longer apply,
Take Tens are Stealth: 29, Perc: 16.
&
Init +7 in fox form, should I need to flee.

Unlike her bardic magic, the transformation into fox form involves no song and dance. Hanako's instrument and schoolgirl outfit fade, leaving her clad in a spidersilk bodysuit, silken sleeves, two bandoliers and her shouldered bow and quiver—and all of this equipment rolls up into a furball, which in seconds, is a fluffy little vixen.

She scampers out the window...
Stealth: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (18) + 19 = 37
...and sniffs around.
Perception w/ Scent: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Hanako has no intention to be out there for long.

Hanako on her own:
Hanako contemplates her options... it really isn't a tough choice.

She transforms to her little fox self, clad in nothing but flowers.

...sneaking away from the weird thing with the stary nose, and doing all in her power not to be noticed by whatever thing could follow her into this hole. A toothy snake? her imagination submits.

Stealth Mode, +4 DEX adj, size bonus: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 2 + 8 = 30

In addition to sneaking around, she takes a cue from the door, relying on both eyes and nose.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Survival (with Scent): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
