Would you like a pre-adventure combat scene so you an understand how this works in PF2, and how some of our character mechanics play out in a real fight? I am happy to play a non-timeline something as a trial run. Just one encounter etc.
That's really not a bad idea.
Hey, Doc, as someone fairly new to PF2e and completely new to how they handle Rangers, is it possible that a 'character rebuild' might be available at, say, 2nd level if what we're doing isn't working well for us? (i.e. I'm going with Precision rather than Flurry, because I think it will sit better with the archer concept I'm playing around with...)
Just figured it couldn't hurt to ask before we get too far into the weeds. :D
Albion, The Eye wrote: Archetypes only come online at level 2, correct? Yep.
Chiming in. Definitely interested.
Thanks for the invite, Doc!
More later, at work at the moment.
Thinking Ranger, likely Warden, but I need to read up on it.
Edit:@rdknight if you'd be interested in a stealthy ranger type, I could consider a champion instead..
Looks like there's pretty much enough players for a game in both pathfinder editions.
Seems you'd definitely have some interested, albiet novices in PF2e players, Doctor Evil. :)
DM DoctorEvil wrote: Since it appears AoW is the fan favorite, is there any interest in playing RotRL for PF2? Not super familiar with PF2 yet, but I'd be up for it. Would love to finally get to play RotRL. ;)
AoW could be great, obviously. I'd personally love to play RotRL more, but only if we're actually gonna plan on a full run of it. :) I've never gotten the chance.

In that vein, I'm building my cleric as a Divine Marksman Ranger 2/Cleric of Tymora (Luck, Travel) 8.
Does that seem reasonable, @EltonJ?
Were you ever defrocked? Or did you hear the calling of the priesthood later? It would be a good addition to your background in either case. And yes, that is reasonable.
... Short version: When he was 1st level,he had been working with some adventurers who ended up getting ambushed by ...(fill in the blank. Maybe his favored enemy. Any suggestions?)
Left for dead along with the others, he was found and rescued by some mercenaries, one of whom was a charismatic halfling cleric of Tymora named Fortunato. The priest saw promise in him, and during what would have been the Ranger's 2nd level, Fortunato began to "enlighten" the Ranger in the ways of the Mistress of Luck.
Greatful, the young man took the opportunity to become one of her clerics. And he has remained one ever since. Or something like that.
He's a wandering priest, at this point, which seems to be a rather common occurance amongst Tymora's followers. More brave adventurer and healing do-gooder than ordained priest.
The more I'm rereading through my Faerun Player's Guide, the more I'm reminded how the setting thrives on multiclassing.
In that vein, I'm building my cleric as a Divine Marksman Ranger 2/Cleric of Tymora (Luck, Travel) 8.
Does that seem reasonable, @EltonJ?
Smiles-a-lot wrote: @Shajnal - my only input is play what you want. Find a concept that grabs you and go for it! This one speaks with wisdom. ;)
Everyone will have the most fun if we play characters that speak to us.
Which would YOU prefer @Shajnal?
Will go with a Cleric, methinks.

I'm debating between a Cleric of Tymora, or a Bard aspiring to one day be a Harper.

Thanks for offering this. The 'Realms is where my high school group spent far, far too many hours fighting the forces of evil and scrounging loot. So, playing at a higher level? It's like getting called home...
Will this be primarily a city-based game? Or a mix of different styles? It may influence class choices.
Playing around with building a Human Cleric, leaning towards a follower of the Sovereign Host. The setup for priests is quite different in Eberron, and combining that with the d20 Dynamic Magic stuff is going to make for an unique character, methinks.
Dot. Definitely interested in this.
EltonJ wrote:
I'm leaning to Kingmaker. Ebberon edition? Interested, especially since I have a concept for a bard once you put up the recruitment! ;)
Which Ap would You be most interested in running, EltonJ?
Ok, after giving the Serpent's Skull player's guide a read through, i think that sounds like a seriously fun time.
Of those listed, the one I'd love to play most would be Rise of the Runelords, followed by Giantslayer, I'd say. The Ebberon-take on things could be quite interesting to see.
Of the two named in the title of this Interest Check, I'd have to say Serpent's Skull, as I have played through Kingmaker before, though on the PC game. Not that KM would make me say no. lol
Pretty much any of these would rock, but those are my preferences.
1d4 ⇒ 4
starting gold: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 5, 3) = 24 x 10 = 240
Gonna build a Dwarven Warpriest.
Gotta love a dwarf.
How many Jedi are you willing to deal with, EltonJ?
https://swse.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page
Does this seem a reasonably good go-to source, beyond the main book?
Just checking.
Absolutely interested, EltonJ, as I stated in the other thread. Lifelong Star Wars fan.
Just ordered the Player's guide and will be using a PDF until it arrives. Beyond that, I've only played the d6 version of SW, but I'm sure I'll pick this up quickly.
So, two Jedi? Makes sense, and is practically a canon choice. I'll be interested in your answers to Lapyd's questions regarding where the Jedi stand, as a group and culture.
Would love to play as a Jedi, maybe a padawan...would it seem reasonable to make say, a scoundrel for first level, to be a pilot or whatever, but then multiclass to Jedi later? OR, if someone else has a definite idea for a Jedi, I could simply play something else.
EltonJ which would You prefer?
Whattaya say, guys? All Jedi or the usual array of 'scum and villany' with some jedi mixed in?
I'm good either way. Who doesn't want to be a Jedi, eh? But being a smuggler pilot can always be fun too.
EltonJ wrote:
And, yes, I'm considering a Star Wars game. Apparently, I get inspired from the right sources to do these games. I just wanted to know who liked the OLD continuity over the Disney Star Wars.
And just to answer your question, I don't hate Disney Star Wars, as a matter of fact I'm rather fond of Mandolorian. That said, it's NOT the original Trilogy that rocked my world as a kid and made me love that whole setting.
EltonJ wrote: Hack Anslash wrote: What time period are you considering?
Between A New Hope and Empire? Post Empire/Pre Return of the Jedi, or after Jedi? Either Knights of the Old Republic era (thousands of years before the battle of Yavin) or the Legacy era (40 years after the Battle of Yavin). I'd rather have an era that is wide open. I'd prefer the latter, personally, but I'd be thrilled with either, tbh.
I'll be ordering the players book when I get paid this week. The rules seem pretty straightforward, especially with knowing 3.5 and pf1e. Cool.

Hmmm. Consider me out on this, especially if you're also considering a Star Wars game. Can't stretch myself that thin.
Have fun.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
Like Ouachitonian, I'm always interested in Star Wars.
Haven't played the Saga Edition stuff. Would that be a problem? Our group used to play the old d6 system. Good times. The Force was with us.
Definitely could be interested in this.
One question that you may or may not be willing to answer if it might be a spoiler: Would we be starting AS slaves or no? From what I remember of the original modules waaaaaaay back in the day, that was an element of at least one of the adventures.
It won't be a huge bonus, but I'll fit arcana into mine.
Ok, this settles it for me. Bloodrager it is! Not sure on specifics yet, but I've never tried one before, and it sounds like too much fun.
Hmmmm.
Ok, so do any of you guys have any experience with Bloodragers? I've never played one, but from what I'm reading, they seem pretty interesting, and capable.
And Lapyd, yes despite myself, I'm still keeping the Druid in mind. lol
Sorry if I seem so wishy washy on this, guys.
Shadow Dragon wrote:
You can't have too much melee at low levels. The balance of power changes as PCs approach mid-levels where the casters start pulling ahead but we'd need to survive to get there first.
With the druid being a 3/4 BAB, 8 HP class (like Hunter) they aren't as tanky as a ranger.
Lapyd: I don't think your ranger build would be 'too much' since animal companions aren't as durable as PCs. A couple of them go down and we'll be in a melee deficit situation.
Hack Anslash: What do you want to play? Not class but role-wise?
Looking over my earlier responses here, it's pretty clear that whether I realized it or not at the beginning, I'm interested in tanking for this.
I think I'll go with the barbarian, especially since we'll have a cleric along.
Lapyd wrote: We’d have the hunter, plus two animal companions, plus your Druid or barbarian… plus maybe the cleric as well since he can just jump into some iron armor and swing a big weapon, even shield if desired (though with Erastil I guess he’d prefer a bow!) :) the animal companions throw me off the most, though I really like the idea of trying the dwarf specific cleave feats as we never get a chance to play them! Hehe You bring up good points. Seems melee might be better covered than I thought.
But honestly, I have to admit, I'd love to see those Cleaves as well. Perfectly suited for this game, I would think.
Lapyd wrote: Debating if I should scratch the concept I wanted to go for something more ranged :/ melee seems crowded right now! I like the Zen Archer monk, but I don't think it's valid with Ultimate Monk. I like Kineticists too but I don't think they're legal for this game.
What are you guys thoughts? Willing to change to avoid stepping into others toes.
Have you looked at the Scout Archetype for Rogues? Still Ranger-ish.
ALSO, don't change your plan just because we're discussing melee. Play what ya want. :) I just mentioned Barbarian because it could be fun, and we don't have a lot of melee going on, (expecially without your Ranger...)
Ridge wrote: I do think a druid going wildshape melee later on strikes me as different enough from a Vanilla Cleric that we'd have a main healer and a back up one but like I said I can go with something else if our GM prefers me to take another niche :)
Heck, Craig was almost an inquisitor when I first made him ,but I also had an idea for a bard (either pure bard or multi class) if we need a skill monkey. I'm not always good on rogues.
Whatever GM Koolkobold thinks would fit best!
Quote: Also, DMKoolK, thanks for running this! And second that!
Looking over some builds and druid handbook stuff, it'll be at least 4th level before he's capable of tanking at all (and not really til about 8th) if I'm not focusing primarily on an animal companion. SO, if you're covering Divine Caster, Ridge, I'll probably go Barbarian. I have a few ideas for one.
No pressure, though. If you've moved on from the Cleric, then I'll take the Divine caster role, so we're covered. Just let me know.

Also, DMKoolK, thanks for running this!
Hmmm. If you're really enthused about the priest of Erastil, @Ridge, I can forego the Druid. I'm planning on using him as a tanking Wildshaper...eventually. So I'd be willing to move over to a melee class if that helps.
Besides, I'm sure KoolKoolaid doesn't need another animal companion as well as some animal summons to add to our combat chaos. :)
Lapyd wrote: The Dwarf I thought would be a ranger :) That makes my choice easier. Druid, it is. :D
Lapyd wrote: Would love to try a Dwarf with the cleave chain features (including the racial ones). Very thematic for Ironfang Invasion! I'm looking to play a half-orc Ranger or Druid. Can't decide.
Lapyd wrote: hi all! same as Kydeem, I'm back after a big hiatus due to personal health-related stuff. I want to join a maximum of 3 games or so, so I can put enough focus on the quality and frequency of those.
Would love to find a PF1E good campaign to join - I prefer Paizo-only stuff, not too crazy overpowered, any level. Some of the popular APs like Skull & Shackles, Giantslayer, or Kingmaker would be awesome.
Any GM takers? Or any ongoing game with openings I could join?
I'd be happy to help with recruiting, tracking resources for the party, whatever needed to keep things moving without overly sacrificing the GM.
Thanks in advance!
Same.
I know KoolKobald has something in the works for Ironfang, but no timeline to get started, which is understandable. Life can get busy.
So hey, that's three of us. :D
There's an ample supply of qualified character submissions here. But as much as I'd love to try to get in on what appears to be an excellent adventuree, I'll retract my thoughts on submitting a character for this.
Just have fun, folks!
I've got to at least roll and see, right?
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 4) = 15 - 2 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 4) = 13 - 1 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 3) = 13 - 1 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 6) = 10 - 1 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 6) = 14 - 1 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 2) = 17 - 2 = 15
Well.
Will consider. If i do go with something it would likely be a cleric of some sort. Probably a dwarf.
KoolKobold wrote: Hack Anslash wrote: Oh, if I had 'em I'd offer them just for a chance to play this AP. :) The maps are going to be made. Giving you a spot. It’ll be a while before we start though. Thank ye, kindly. And we can be patient. Well worth the wait. :D
