"Right you are, my lord," says a handsome man as he approaches the Viscount's wagon, a messenger bag slung over his shoulder held close with ink-stained fingers. With a curt brow, he ignores the others for a moment and reports to Aristide, "Pardon the intrusion, but the stowing of provisions is nearly complete, sir. The final barrels are being loaded now, and I believe that the thane here has ensured that a small cask of his distillers finest is among them, a personal gift. I passed along your profound thanks, of course. If it pleases you, I'll let the laborers see to their families once the work is done, post a watch from the guards for the night, and see to the final provisions for your personal stores."
With a brief nod to Soraya and Kalig, who note a sparkle of gold in his eyes he departs back to the ranks of wagons and bustling caravan to direct the packing and, when complete, orders the human and dwarven laborers to rest for the night. The warriors he sets to watches, two at a time from now until dawn, before he strides deeper into the dwarf settlement.
From his abandonment at a young age, to getting bounced around terrible orphanages, to finally going it alone on the fringes of society, this young man has had to learn the hardness and cruelty of the world firsthand. Rather than rise above it and become a force for good, this tall and strong young man has embraced these harsh lessons and channeled them into the only force he respects: power over others.
It was a lesson he learned pinching silvers for the Sczarni in Korvosa. One that was strengthened for him while working as an enforcer for Cessia and the Thieve’s guild in Pezzack. One that he carried out just a little too far one night in Corentyn, when the fury of a botched mugging caused his arms to suddenly crackle with electricity; the electricity flared through his dagger as he stabbed it home and killed his mark.
Now he’s moving again – trying to stay a few steps ahead of the headsman that's likely on his tail. Knowing that he can't sweet-talk or coerce his way out of this one, nothing in life seems better to him right now than getting away from the civilization that never wanted him.
With a hastily packed backpack and just enough wit to find the dock with the ship, young Gustav is ready to dive headfirst into the unknown, and bring it under his heel.
I'm a huge fan of the downtime and leadership rules from Ultimate Campaign, and look forward to a chance to put them to use in your homebrew!
I'm sorry. I let you all down by disappearing for the last two months. I'm sure that an explanation isn't much help, but to sum up, it's been the busiest two months of my life, both personally and professionally. My wife and I moved into a new house, and started making preparations there for welcoming our first child. At work, my job description has changed, and while it's taken a couple responsibilities off, it's added one very large one that has added on regular weeknight meetings that are a drain on the schedule. It's a big step for me career-wise, not something I could have turned down easily.
For my mental health, something had to go, and unfortunately it was gaming. This includes both PBP and the home game I was playing in. Today's the first day that I have even checked into the website, and it's a result of finally a) feeling a bit more settled, and b) being on vacation this week. I know that I should have stopped in to at least say, "I have to take a break," and I'm most sorry that I didn't take the time to do that. You all deserve better from me, and I didn't live up to it.
Hope the new players have a great time - it's a fun crew! GM, you can go ahead and take me off the active players list.
Just wanted to check in with you all quickly. Our internet is still limited here at home, and we are also mid-move to a new home, so I'm going to be off the grid yet for a bit. I hope to have a free hour tomorrow when I can catch up more on my games. Have a good rest of the weekend!
Gustav watches, somewhat disgusted, at the spectacle of Kunala putting the fungus into his pack. "Not what I'd do, but then, that's up to you... I recommend that way," he says while pointing south.
Hi, all. Sorry for the delay. Our home internet is down, and I"ve had no time to post from other locations lately due to work and family being in town. I'll try to get things back in place by this weekend, but it's not looking promising. Hopefully soon!
"Well, all right. I'll tell you this: you can call me... Preacher. Sound good? Now, a name for you..." He looks at the others and shrugs, as though saying "What do you all think?
Gustav shows the silverdisks and eggs to his companions. "We can investigate these... egg shaped items later, but I know the Silverdisks have good value in town. Gin, think you could unbend this locker? I'm not sure I'm strong enough to force it open." He takes a moment to examine the lock on the panel.
Knowledge(Engineering) on the Eggs:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 ... unless they are - quite literally - easter eggs. In which case, happy easter!
Knowledge(Engineering) on the Panel:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Also, could you clarify a bit as to what a "wide panel" is? I'm guessing that you mean that there's something like a bar all the way across those four panels, and unless it's unlocked they will continue to block it. THanks!
Gustav hands it to Elasbeth. "You might have a better sense than I, but perhaps we should wait to try and activate it in a more controlled environment. Let me check these other metal cabinets to see if there is anything else."
Gustav proceeds to look through the lockers in order: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
He hops back when the door opens, but then approaches again after the moment passes. "I wonder if there's anything still in here - what a discovery that'd be!" Gustav begins checking the lockers for any contents.
"One death trap or another, I suppose. Think we should check this door behind the desk first? From the scope of things it's either a small closet, or a third death trap." Gustav checks the handle on this door as well to see if it is locked.
Takes stock of his healing resources and reports, "I've little of Brigh's power left in me today. The temple sent this wand with me, though, so I'm happy to utilize it for our cause."
After using it four times, he nods and says, "You should feel better after a good rest. I'm sure we could all stand to hole up here and recover."
Turning to the others...
CLW Wand on Kunala:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 CLW Wand on Elasbeth:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
...he uses the wand once on each of them. "Will that suffice for now?"
Gustav charges his hand with raw holy power, and attempts to channel it directly into the enemy. "Elasbeth, hit it with your wand of healing - it'll harm it!"
Hi all - I have to go out of town for work today through Sunday unexpectedly. I will try to post if possible. Feel free to RP it up without me, including botting as necessary.
Gustav steps towards Kunala, if there is room, and touches the hammer that Kunala wields, saying, "Brigh, bring down our enemy!"
Warpriest Artifice Blessing - Crafter's Wrath (minor): At 1st level, you can touch one melee weapon and grant it greater power to harm and destroy crafted objects. For 1 minute, whenever this weapon deals damage to constructs or objects, it bypasses hardness and damage reduction. 4/5 blessings remaining for today.
