Grazden has a quick look through the pirate's ship, hoping for something worthwhile to take the sting away from his failure.

Still in a rage, Grazden steps up to Alejia and sweeps her head from her body as well. Then as he turns and sees the last man standing with arms raised, he deflates slightly and feels a deep fatigue.

Shaking his head he looks back at his handiwork. There was no need of it. But her life was forfeit.

Cleaning his bloodied axe blade, Grazden takes up guard duty on the last pirate.

As Bob's head rolls away from his body, Grazden kicks it with a bellow towards the ships.

Seeing the woman prepare to slash the mage's throat, Grazden bellows in fury and leaps off the boat towards her.

But in his rage he stumbles and falls to the sand!

Darn! Was hoping to get Grazden adjacent to the woman for the AoO!

Is it a double move for Grazden to get the 5ft down the plank? If so is it possible for him to instead jump it as part of his move?

As Alejia completes her betrayal, Grazden takes stock of his options.

Sorry for the holdup!

Grazden hesitates at the bottom of the gangplank. Visions of his former life as a soldier flash by him. His company ambushed on a foolish patrol in the Cinderlands, cut off from a group of his men, watching them cut down as he struggled forward. Pushing through despite an axe to the face, and still coming too late.

No, he'd not leave the tiefling alone on the ship. Turning back he fixes the pirate captain with a stare. Listen lady, you have one chance of making it out of here alive, and that's by handing over the mage safe and sound. After that you can go rot in whatever hell hole you call home.

[b] I don't trust you, I think you plan to kill the mage no matter what, and I ain't about to let you take the tiefling along with you. If you want to pout about that and slit the old man's throat, you go straight ahead. But if you want to make a deal than quit crying and get on the ship.

You only have one card to play here, and if you're willing to kill the mage because you can't have everything your way, then I doubt you're willing to play the trade straight anyways.

Grazden turns and fixes Aerodus with a sharp stare. Now, you coming or not?

Realizing that he just spoke as many words as he had in several weeks, Grazden shakes his head slightly and then turns and stomps up the plank onto the ship.

Grazden's scarred face deepens further into his scowl. Fine. We make the swap on your ship, but I'm going with the Tiefling. Two of you, two of us.

With no intention of leaving one of his companions alone, Grazden turns his back on the woman, stalks over to Aerodus and climbs up onto the Topaz.

Grazden steps back in front of them, axe still at the ready. That wasn't the deal. No one gets on the ship till we have the Mage. We swap here, then you head to your ship and we head to ours. If you want it can be just you and me.

FYI, Grazden is unaware of his companions intentions to double cross. He doesn't have a problem letting the woman go.

Indeed. I imagine our secondary success condition involves putting an end to the piracy. However first priority has to be keeping the mage safe.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Grazden ensures Mumbuckle is securely tied up, and possibly in a holding cell of some kind.

Up on deck he nods his agreement with Hagrym. "Aye, lets just stick together this time. Though if someone wants to walk out in front that's fine by me.

Making his way east, Grazden heads for the exits that lead deeper into the cavern.

Grazden will also remain with the ship, and is happy to turn mumbuckle over to the authorities... though on what charge he's not sure. In fact, as Grazden thinks about it, they were the ones who boarded and attacked the ship, so perhaps going to the gendarmes isn't such a good idea...

Grazden is in favor of tying up Mumbuckle on the ship, then letting him go afterwords.

Also, I think we could have significantly bartered down the 'captain' ... 343 gold should be enough for a months trip ;)

Graz was at -2, then healed 15, so he's currently at 13/27HP. I'm absolutely going to have to invest in a wand of CLW after this scenario!

Grazden, exhausted and wounded, moves to the side and sits on a crate. Interrogating prisoners and making plans was hardly his role anyways.

I think you could 5ft step next to Grazden if you wanted. However, he's fatigued anyways right now, so isn't doing too much right now anyways.

Breathing heavily but still furious, Grazden shakes off his shield and slams his axe into LG3.

attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

As the man falls(hopefully), Grazden suddenly feels a deep fatigue overwhelm him, and he almost falls.

Grazden is fatigued, and drops to -2HP. However he'll use diehard to stay conscious and act as disabled.

As he sees one of his allies go down, Grazden bellows in a rage and charges back into the fray towards LG4.

Charge+Flank: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 +2 from rage for a 21
damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

As another sailor drops, Grazden turns towards the rest and howls.

BRRRAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

Grazden at 5/31HP with the rage. If he is dropped to zero or below he will use Fight on as an immediate action to give him an additional 6HP. If he's still below 0HP he'll use diehard to stay on his feet.

Only 1 rage round left though! Better end this fight soon!!!!

Dropping his large oversized waraxe, Grazden pulls out a smaller version of the same and chops again at LG1.

Feeling much more accurate with his one-handed weapon, Grazden scores a solid hit on the sailor. Watching to see if the sailor drops, Grazden prepares to move to the frogman.

5ft step to N5 if LG1 drops.

Stepping sideways to break the flank, Grazden chops again at LG1.

He then straps his shield in place and hunkers down.

AC21 with the shield. Grazden will use fight on if dropped below 0hp, and will use diehard if brought below 0 again.

Contrary to Grazden, I think paying someone a few coins to row us over might be a good idea.

Aye, to the docks.

Grazden at 5nonlethal. I'm realizing now that any nonlethal damage at all completely negates both Diehard and Fight On. Kind of sad :(

Grazden looks on and shakes his head. Bah, blasted waste of resources if you ask me. If you want to heal someone then send that wand this way.

Don't worry, only Grazden feels this way. I'm just fine with healing them up to interrogate :)

Catching the potion as the little gnome tosses it, Grazden uncorks it and swigs it down.

As the thug lands another solid blow, Grazden bursts into a rage! Pursuing his initial target Grazden steps forward to Q14 and slams his axe into the half-orc.

Graz currently at 23/31 due to Rage, AC17. Any idea if nonlethal damage interacts with either 'Die Hard' or 'Fight On'?

Still angry at himself for letting two of his comrades fall, Grazden smiles in spite of it at the little gnome. That one certainly held his own.

Grazden stalks back to their prisoner and stares him down, rattling off questions without preamble.

How many more of you around? Where is your captain? What's in the secret hatch? Who's the woman?

Bearing down on the cornered man Grazden raises his axe to carve him in two. However at the last second the dwarf notices the dropped cutlass and raised hands and pulls the swing sideways, coming within a fingers-width of the pirate.

As he pulls his swing, the rage deflates in Grazden like a balloon, and he shakes his head to clear it. Pushing the man to the floor he stalks past him in pursuit of the remaining pirates.

4/8 rage used, fatigued for 4 rounds.

Furious at his missed swing, Grazden doesn't even notice the goo on his arms and chest and moves in to hack at the first pirate's back.

If Grazden draws an AoO from the doorman, that should allow everyone else to get into the room without fear of an AoO. Though you'd still need a high enough acro to get past him.

Unfortunately the swing misses, but using his momentum Grazden tries to push into the room.
