![]() Heh. It has a slightly more irreverent spin to it than I would have put on it, but it is essentially an accurate summation ;-) I think I can make the Skyseeker Prestige Class work - it actually makes a certain amount of sense; an underground research facility accidentally broken into by dwarves; a man found in stasis; the wards, however, had begun to decay over the millennia, and whilst his body had been preserved, he was suffering from profound retrograde amnesia; the dwarves took him in, and helped him to reform a life; although most of what had gone before was a blur, like a summer daydream, half forgotten, he remembered being immensely proud of the past, and so he took to Dwarven (and Azlanti/Thassilonian) history with a passion! Yes, that could *just* work... I should have his profile updated shortly. ![]()

![]() I will admit, despite it being the pretty-much 'vanilla' option, I am leaning towards Arcane Archer, with Witch spells (so that I can make use of only Int as my casting stat. Also, having access to 'Hermean Potential' amuses me, since I will be running a Pureblood - I can help others find the 'pureblood within' ;-)). That way, I also start with point blank / precise shot / weapon focus / rapid shot / arcane strike at level 1, which isn't too shabby. ![]()

Sentinel
Sky Seeker
Any thoughts from the peanut gallery? ;-) ![]()

![]() Egads! I had not even noticed that had happened (since I had stopped monitoring that thread). I guess the comments in the 'off topic' thread directed enough interest to the discussion thread, that the powers that be took an interest (a little late, admittedly, since it was a week and half since anyone else had posted, but still...). Pureblood seems like the option to go to for the moment. I am toying with whether I can find a better prestige class - I was going with arcane archer for the full BAB, and bonus feats, but with human, I can try something else. ![]()

![]() Heh. Now I am just poking the kitty ;-) You say you are bound by the law, but in the previous breath said I was going against the spirit of it... which implies I am not going against the letter of the law, which is what you are (supposedly) bound by, as a lawyer :-P ---- Pureblood actually solves a number of problems, and opens a couple of other avenues to explore... I'll do some digging! ![]()

![]() @Mort: You missed his qualifier... Tacticslion wrote: *Though if you found a way to consistently disguise yourself... *shrugs* If that doesn't work, it just means I pick another race, and dump a stat or two (most likely charisma, at the very least). EDIT: I'd probably just go 'normal' elf, and dump Wis to 9, and Cha to 7. ![]()

![]() Well, what do you expect from (most) Westerners? ;-) Personally, I quite like black pudding, and I have tried haggis (although I grant that many consider both to be an acquired taste). Bizarrely, what I can't stand is a cheese platter (although cheese cooked into a meal is another matter entirely). ![]()

![]() Well, I'd like to think you would only be doing it on corpses... carving up live people for fun seems a tad sociopathic ;-) Situations that involve intestines (and *not* being a horror movie slasher/villain...): 1) Abdominal surgery
...and that is just off the top of my head (For the record, I have only done #1 and #2). ![]()

![]() @Tacticslion's assessment: Well, when I was invited to join the game, I assumed that it would be with someone who was more like Mort and Robert; your (very different) play style somewhat blindsided me. Generally, my response when that happens is to assume the worst (you had, after all, indicated that we would (inevitably) be dying at some point), and I decided that I would prefer to go out on my own terms, rather than being a tasty live meat snack for a carnivorous plant :-P With the benefit of hindsight (and having seen more of this thread), I can see that that would not have been the *entire* story, but I did not know that at the time. Basically, I needed to 're-calibrate' my GM expectations to something a *lot* more... free-form/anarchic. That's not a criticism; just an observation. If I knew then what I knew now, my reaction would probably have been quite different ;-) @Mort's discussion of intestines needing to be on the inside: Clearly, you are in the wrong line of work / not going to the right parties ;-) ![]()

![]() Ah, that *is* a PFS-specific nerf. 'Extra Item Slot' is a familiar feat for if you want to use an item slot that your familiar/animal companion's base body type doesn't give you. However, in PFS, they only get neck and shoulders (and even then, only if the base form grants it; so, for example, snakes don't have any item slots in PFS), and need to take the feat for any other slots that their base form might grant. ![]()

![]() Mostly correct. The Clear Spindle Ioun Stone + Wayfinder only protects as per Protection From Evil, which doesn't hedge-out non-evil casters. Moreover, it has been errata'ed so that if you use that ability, it burns out the stone, making it a very expensive one-shot item. ![]()
Male Avoral Instrument of the Gods 13
![]() Actually, I think it was the collection of souls that was more of a problem for certain people... I don't recall any undead being manufactured, and actually used in combat. It also wasn't evil for evil's sake; at the time, for the individual concerned, there was a cold, supremely logical reason for it... which once the reason went away, resulted in the dissolution of the aforementioned situation... However, I digress... Re: Screwing you over with undead minions, well, the same holds true for any combat familiar or animal companion. For example, Dominate Animal on Geist, from a non-evil spellcaster, would not have been a lot of fun for the party... ![]()

![]() Now, now Mort - you say you like playing Necromancers in your computer games, but draw the line at Roleplaying them, or their products? Isn't that a little hypocritical...? ;-) Heh. More seriously, though, I prefer to think of it as recycling... otherwise, those corpses just go to waste. Zombiism... Good For What Ails You! ![]()

![]() Let's just say that he was the right hand man of one of the Blood Lords of Geb ;-) His DPS wasn't actually that amazing, but he was still a reasonable combatant (he throttled his way through a wide variety of interesting bipedal opponents), and by the end of it, I had made him more difficult to permanently kill than a lich :-D ![]()

![]() Hey, Gabriel can be perfectly pleasant, provided that he doesn't think you would make an interesting addition to his collection of 'children' ;-) I didn't build him to be creepy *at all*, although I did manage to freak out a ghost once, who was not expecting to be able to be caressed by the severed hand... ![]()

![]() Regarding Ravenloft, it doesn't have to be all 'Call of Cthulhu' - yes, there is darkness, but it is also about struggling against the impenetrable night, reaching for that glimmer of light, and trying to protect the souls of the innocent, without sullying yourself too much in the process... for if you do, the Dark Powers certainly are watching, and will reserve a permanent place for you. Honestly, the only successful true 'Ravenloft Campaign' that I have been in (apart from one-shot modules) involved a party from Krynn who ended up stepping through a portal to Sithicus, and the rest of the campaign revolved around trying to get back out of Ravenloft again, whilst frantically trying to survive everything that the demiplane threw at them ;-) ![]()

![]() Catching up on past discussion posts: Re: Kingdom-building in Kingmaker: I unabashedly admit to having crunched the numbers using the 'expanded' kingdom-building rules, and came to the conclusion that the most effective way to kick your kingdom into an expansion overdrive was to make it full of brothels, prisons, and apiaries... as well as to have 24 public holidays per year. All of which is a little sad, and slightly cringe-worthy... Re: Ravenloft: I love Ravenloft! I used to submit third-party stuff back in the day, to the 'official' third-party organ. It is the only campaign where I can honestly say that I died, was brought back as kind-of ghoul/mummy hybrid (retaining my class levels), and then later was restored to life by a mad scientist who gave me a gastrointestinal tract transplant ;-) To the best of my knowledge, there was *one* non-evil Demilord... which was the trapped Angel. ![]() GM: Fair enough. I elect to fail all saves, and die. Honestly, I haven't been enjoying this game, and would rather it was just over.
I am officially 'hiding' this thread, so I won't see any further posts. Best of luck with the others :-) Golan lies, paralysed, on the ground, whilst the terrible plant creature comes over, and his life's blood cascades out onto the ground. As his consciousness fades, his last thoughts are of his tribe. This is why the People must never rely upon outsiders; we have always looked after our own. To do otherwise, invites madness such as this...
