While a few reasons we have not done (and don't currently plan to do) a time travel AP have been noted above, another one to consider are the number of deities that PCs might worship that weren't deities even a few thousand years in the past. What happens to a cleric of Cayden Cailean or Iomedae if they return to a time before their deity ascended?

I think the simple answeris....they get F'd in the A?

Also: Just ask Jim Groves..He has an answer for anything. He will figure this Time Travel S**t out! :)

I'm super excited for Iron Gods, but I started thinking, "What is Paizo going to do for the next AP I wonder?". So I started thinking and then it hit me: Treerazer.

It would be an interesting AP in my opinion. Helping the elves remove the menace of a nascent demon lord that's basically sitting in their backyard would be a fun adventure. I know it might be similar to Wrath of the Righteous, but I'm sure Paizo has a good enough development team to avoid that. It would probably end up being the 2nd mythic campaign. Plus Kyonin hasn't really been explored as a setting as far as I know.

So what do you guys think?

Treerazor!!!! Jeezus NO! Im scared just by the thoiught of that dude!!!

I recall that Paizo has said once or twice that they are hesitant to do timetravel plots for a number of reasons. One of which was doing design work for cultures/empires not present in the current version of Golarion that all their other books describe. If the players are not able to impact the events they'd encounter they wouldn't have much agency. If they do alter the cannon history then the result could be any number of Golarions that bear only passing resemblance to the iconic campaign setting they've carefully crafted for years. Leaving ancient history vague also ensures that they always have a vast reservoir of story hooks.

Reign of Winter isnt "Time Trave; " per se...but you do getto go to a very cool place in book 5 :)

The goal of this thread is to establish a consensus rating of the Paizo PFRPG Adventure Paths that may be ultimately compiled into a chart for reference by GM’s trying to figure out what adventure path to play.

Did you GM or play Carrion Crown in its entirety? If so, please post your ratings here so they may be tallied for in a final posting that will show the results for all the adventure paths.

Please rank Carrion Crown on a scale of 1-10 for each of the following categories (half points allowed):

1) GM Ease of Play: This category relates to how ready to play “out of the box” an adventure path is. Are there enough maps? Are the encounters properly detailed? Is a great deal of work required to play the modules? Readily scale-able? (1-10)

2) Synthesis of the Story: Does the story-line flow through all the modules in a way that leads the players along the path while not being so obvious as to knock them over the head rail-road style? (1-10)

3) Role-play Friendly: Are there enough opportunities for role-players to delve into the soft side of the game? Are there opportunities for well executed role-play to have a positive impact on the story line? (1-10)

4) Combat Design: Is the adventure appropriately powered for four well designed 15 point buy characters? Are there TPK-prone encounters that will probably disrupt the campaign? Will the players cruise through to the point of boredom? (1-10)

5) Fun factor: Did you have fun GMing the campaign? Did your party have fun playing the campaign? (1-10)

Links to other rankings:

Council of Thieves

Kingmaker

Serpent's Skull

I havent played ALL of the paths. Only like 4 of them. Of the four I played I rank them like this.....

Reign of Winter
2. Rise of the Runelords
3. Carrion Crown
4. Curse of the crimson Throne.
Sidenote: i OWN and have readthrough all of the AP's Paizo has put out so far up to Mummys mask....
And these 4 ( for me) semed like the fourbest :)

I was thinking...what if the developers chose a AP ( or the fans?) , and whichever was chosen was given a " alternate sequel" ?
example: the original AP ended in Failure...( some of the AP's can end quite badly, and affect Golarion forever!).
Like...in Rise of the Runelords??? LOLOL
So the developers would make an "alternate AP ( following the same format as the usual ones) except the heroes of the original AP failed so the new AP is set in a very changed Golarion and involves picking up the pieces and trying again?
Maybe since the AP would even be that much harder due to the previous success of the villians the developers could make the sequel a "Mythic" AP?
It was just a thought. I was close to doing something like that when it became clear that my RotRL campaign wasnt going to end on a good note!

MAN! as i said on a different thread , THIS was the first year i had even heard of the contest. I became very excited and did work on the item and submitted it on the very first day! :( THAT was NOT a good way to go. I believe my item is decent , yet after i read seans post about the guidelines of creating a good item , and some of what clark has mentioned above , I have a feeling that my item is in a little trouble. LOL
After i submitted my idea so quickly i THEN had two other ideas i liked much better and i thought were overall MORE creative. So even if THIS year isnt great for me NEXT year i believe, will be a different story. I havent given up ALL hope this year . LOL My item is a decent item. :) im just worried about certain things.

Dark Archive Star Voter Season 6

I was so excited that i entered my item on the VERY first day ( this is the first year i had even heard of the contest) , and NOW i regret Being so quick. Excitement got the better of me. I think my item was pretty decent , but it was only AFTER i entered it that i read SEAN's post on things NOT to do to be successful! LOL My item is decent BUT there are a few possible problems with it. AND i thouight of two seperate items LATER that i thought wouldve been BETTER submissions!! hahah So we will see.... IDK......

Dont know if its already been discussed buit if it has and i missed this , then apologies. I had ONE story problem with Trial of the Beast. BUT its kind of a BIG one.....+ spoiler+ Just in case it metters to those that might play it , im about to get specific here so dont read furher if u care.. LOL

Spoiler:

Auren Vrood is the big mastermind of evil in the campaign. he is super powerful. The ENTIRE reason that this chapter was written is because the BEAST of Lepssdtdt is captured. BUT my problem and a few of my players problems were ..... WHY? why does Auren Vrood use the beast at ALL to break into the university and get the seasage effigy? he goes to a LOT of trouble to trick Alphon caromarc into sending the beast after them to a meeting where they THEN assault schloss caromarc , capture the Dr. and also find the bondslave thrall etc etc , THEN use the beast to BREAK in to the university etc etc etc.. A LOT of trouble..WHY wouldnt vrood just find a minion or he himself Teleport or find some magic other way to get onto the school, grab the effigy ( even in the daytime using invisibility?) , .. IDK..w/o the beast getting used and caught u dont even have this chapter of the adventure path , but i cant see WHY Vrood used the beast at all??
Not trying to be a jerk!! :) because i like the story a LOT! i had to make some stuff up on the spot when my players asked me this question!! hahah So i had to give the cheesy answer..." well it is Protected against teleportation , and invisibity ( even during daytime hours!?) And so no one can get in that way! " LOLOL

To be fair EVER SINGLE RPG game EVER made , contains these types of small errors. And they always will. It is unrealistic to expect anyone to catch every error.
Also As Almost ANY RPG designer will say they Rules are GUIDELINES. and ultimately it is a game about ROLEPLAYING. Not getting EVERY SINGLE RULE EXACTLY RIGHT and making NO mistakes. the two rules u mentioned above seem pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. Decide what way u like better , then do that :) the end...

So, i just ordered the adventure paths 7-12. I have a question. They say the path takes characters from 1st to 16th level, but in the core rules there are 3 xp speeds. Slow, nedium, and fast. Which of these speeds do the adventure path books use?
