After checking the full text on the FAQ, I very much like both those new Starfinder boons, and have bought one of each to start with. However, the Finitrium Augmentations boon has so much text that several lines of text bleed over the OGL section of the boon template. Is there any way to adjust that formatting on boon to make it more legible, or are we stuck having to look at the FAQ for that? (For now, I've printed out the full boon text by itself on the back of the sheet, but that's very much my own temporary workaround.)
OTOH, I wasn't sure if I was going to play the Season 7 intro before I run it multiple times at Origins, since I have just read it thoroughly in order to prep it. But the First Ones Scholar boon has decided me on playing it, because that boon is perfect for my xenoarchaeologist, who otherwise would have received my first GM credit for the scenario.
A suit of heavy armor filled with water walks into the room. A tiny cuttlefish swimming inside the helmet wiggles a few tentacles, and imparts some technical knowledge telepathically.
Armor Prototype Proficiency has two parts, which are separate benefits. The first one makes you proficient with heavy armor. That part works exactly like any other armor proficiency.
The other benefit improves the hardness, HP, and saves of your prototype, regardless of which category of armor it is.
Note that in the paragraph just before Armor Prototype Proficiency, it states, "Your armor prototype works as normal for a suit of its type, but it also gains specific benefits based on your mechanic level, as defined below" (emphasis mine). So your armor prototype is either light or heavy (or powered, at 5th level and above), depending on what specific suit of armor you modified to make it.

JamesH wrote: I am still hyped about the direction that this season is going in, if only because I plan on having a lot of fun with my archaeologist biohacker. Excellent point. I need to dust off my archaeologist mechanic for the low-level Sarmak missions this season.
And I'm eager to see what the high-level fare for the season will be, because my 13th-level ace pilot really wants one last chance to strut her stuff before the edition change forces her to reluctantly turn her full attention to her Forum position rather than gallivanting all across the galaxy.
One thing to keep in mind with a stellifera is that if you're hiding yourself inside a pet carrier, you're giving up the (not insignificant) benefits of water body, which is Medium-sized and thus won't fit in the carrier.
Also, does controlling the drone count as a physical action? If so, you won't be going anywhere unless your drone is advanced enough to get an action when undirected. And even then, the action economy will be abysmal.
My one and only experience with a stellifera and a pet carrier in play was not holding the stellifera, but its pets. The stellifera chose armor that obscured its form enough that it could pretend to be a shirren who only communicated telepathically, and it later acquired a couple "emotional support spiders" and a carrier to keep them in.

Successfully restarting the reactor puts Glaukos in good spirits when the team reports back to Councilor Kirslin. The verthani's reception of the green woman's terms pleases him, and he silently vows to return to Thamal again someday to see what comes of this new arrangement.
As the team goes their separate ways, he expresses his hopes that they may work together again someday. It's a measure of his pride in a task well done that even his parting words with T'Krunch are surprisingly cordial--though unsurprisingly, not as effusive as those the other Starfinders receive.

Either that, or find where it leaked from, Glaukos replies. I hope we can find a source that isn't too contaminated. I hate working with compromised materials.
The stellifera returns to the front lobby to reexamine the puddles of oil there, and try to determine where they came from.

Please bring that wiring along. We'll need it to connect the replacement control module and control rod, Glaukos tells Iseph, sounding very pleased about their progress. All we need now is oil calibrated for use in the reactor, then we can get started on the repairs!

Glaukos follows T'Krunch with some trepidation, but the need to locate the missing components outweighs his nervousness about the ikeshti or other predators infesting the plant.
Good work, he projects when the biohacker finds another part they need. Perhaps I should get started on repairs while the rest of you finish exploring?
Does the scenario say what specialty the toolkit gives a bonus to? (Armorcraft, weaponsmith, or something else?) Or did they neglect to specify that? I've seen other scenarios where the writers forget that item needs a specialty. ETA: Maybe it's power plant repair tools. ;)

Very efficiently handled, everyone, Glaukos says, pleased, as he returns his pistol and baton to their holsters. He is even more pleased when the team finds the control rod, as it seems to confirm his theory about the parts they need being available on site.

I agree, Glaukos displays on his comm unit, and sends to the green woman. I believe we can persuade the city of the benefits of this arrangement.
As Kalhoun attempts to contact the Councilor, Glaukos looks around at the plants cultivated here with obvious interest and admiration.

Glaukos moves out onto the balcony to get a better look at the green woman, and uses telepathic message to communicate with her--though unfortunately his companions can't hear him at the moment.
The interference in power generation here is causing intermittent failures in the the local grid. The disruptions are having a cascade effect throughout the city, and if they continue, will have a negative impact on the city's ability to attract trade and investment. Even those who properly revere nature need a dependable infrastructure in order to continue their work without harmful delays.
His Culture, Life Sci, and Phy Sci are all the same modifier, but I'll use this one since he's trying to talk more holistically.

Oh, wow. I've been playing SFS for 3.5 years and I can't recall if I've ever been at a table where nobody was trained in Mysticism. Granted, we're limited to 1st-level characters here and don't have any spellcasters along (rare in itself, in my experience), so I guess I shouldn't be so surprised.

Glaukos lacks Mystisicm to ID her, and lacks training in social skills (and an efficient way to talk to everyone at once) so will leave the talking to others.

Once the moss has been cleared away, Glaukos begins working to restart the generator. He looks up at the open door occasionally, wondering where the some of his team went, but doesn't waste effort talking to anyone unless they're helping with the generator.

Life Sciences: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
(Sensate: -5 to DC if identifying consumables such as drugs, medicinals, poisons, food, and drink.)
Glaukos comes to the same conclusion as T'Krunch, and begins pulling down moss that the small ikeshti can't reach as easily. Given that they only have a brief window before it starts to affect them, he works with somewhat more haste than the biohacker does, but does attempt to preserve some samples safely for later study.

Glaukos's chromatophores display a more calm, contented pattern as he regains his composure by solving a problem with his technical skills. He then gingerly attempts to regain his feet and cross the room.
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
He does so handily enough to surprise even himself! Once he reaches the central door, he begins examining it for locks, traps, and any further clues to what happened here.

Glaukos's skin rapidly changes color as he has a scare of landing near the electrical sparks, and again as he hears the ikeshti's latest culinary comments. Thinking of me as food is clearing distracting you from the task at hand. Please cease and desist, he projects to T'Krunch, sounding annoyed--and perhaps a bit smug that the biohacker fared no better.
Regaining his bearings, Glaukos attempts to pull his hydrobody up to a sitting or kneeling position, so that he can move the hazard away from the central puddle that he is lying beside.

The clear fluid is oil used in power plants. Be careful, it conducts electricity, and there are live wires about, Glaukos warns the others, using a combination of telepathy and messages through the comms. Some of the metal scraps are drones that were ripped apart by something with teeth and claws.
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
The stellifera moves gingerly towards the puddle in the center of the room, hoping to move some of the equipment out of the way so they can get access to the doors directly opposite, but slips almost as soon as he enters the lobby.

En route to the station, Glaukos takes the opportunity to introduce himself properly to the other Starfinders. Except for T'Krunch, they each hear Greetings! I am Glaukos, one at a time, in their heads. Meanwhile, all of the team's comm links receive the following message: Please pardon the limits of my telepathy. I have not yet mastered how to talk to many minds at once. I am Glaukos, a stellifera and a newly-trained recruit to the Starfinder Society. My skills primarily lie in using and repairing computers and other machinery, which I believe is why I was recruited for this mission. I also enjoy studying other species and cultures, and hope that you will teach me more about each of yours.
When they reach the plant, Glaukos looks around warily, but lets his more combat-focused teammmates take point entering the site.

C-cala--? Glaukos replies, startled, then after a moment, adds timidly, I normally enjoy new experiences, but I am afraid I will have to decline this one, thank you.
The stellifera takes a wary step or two away from the ikeshti, and turns his attention back to the verthani--though one eye glances back at T'Krunch from time to time. I am eager to be underway and to be of use, Councilor, he projects to Kirslin, while displaying the same message as text on his comm unit for the other Starfinders' benefit.
OOC, I find T'Krunch's speech hilarious, but Glaukos finds it rather unnerving!

Glaukos eagerly takes the logs and begins studying them. As he does so, the others can clearly see that despite his heavily customized armor being humanoid in shape, the suit is entirely filled with water, with a diminutive cuttlefish-like creature swimming inside the helmet.
Computers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Wow, that's underwhelming for his first skill check ever! :(
The stellifera's skin briefly blanches in embarrassment as he finds the logs nearly inpenetrable, and he seizes upon T'Krunch's request as a welcome distraction. The ikeshti hears a curious voice in his head: What's that for? Will it hurt? I am a very small creature, after all.
My understanding of stellifera is that Glaukos is limited to speaking via telepathic message, but he understands several languages just fine (Aquan, Azlanti, Common, Ignan, Kalo, Stelliferan, Terran). I plan to make him a phrenic adept at 2nd level to give him limited telepathy, but that’s a whole 3 XP away.
Glaukos is a stellifera mechanic with an experimental armor prototype. At first glance, he looks like a typical humanoid encased in heavy armor, until you realize that the suit is full of water with a Diminutive cuttlefish swimming inside the helmet.
He is very tech-savvy (Computers, Engineering, Profession: miner) but also very curious about new creatures and scientific phenomena (Life & Physical Sciences) as well as new food and entertainment (sensate theme).
Glaukos is a newly-minted Starfinder, a protégé of a famous member of the Dataphiles faction (and beneficiary of their capstone boon), but is eager to prove his own worth.
