You have heard a rumor that there is a job available at the visitor's center for brave and skillful individuals interested in helping the city, though the rumors contain no further details. Arriving at Thamal’s recently constructed visitor’s center on Verces, you find a beautiful area, surrounded by a mix of trees, older buildings, and new construction. The surface of the visitor’s center’s large silver dome is covered with thousands of small colored lights that display the message, “Welcome to Thamal.”

An 8 foot tall humanoid with delicate features and long limbs strides out of the building to greet you. Her black protruding eyes show in stark contrast to her brightly colored and patterned skin. She introduces herself as Councilor Kirslin Auganir and greets you, grateful that someone has answered her call.

“Thank you for coming,” Councilor Auganir says, “I’m sure you’ve noticed the city’s recent power troubles. It’s a problem the city council would like remedied as soon as possible.”

The lights flicker out, along with the lights and displays of nearby buildings. After a few moments, the lights flicker back to life.

Councilor Kirslin sighs heavily, her skin paling to a dismal gray. “Did you see that? This city’s about to be named a top Verces travel destination for the first time in its history, but nobody’s going to want to visit us if the power won’t stay on. I can see the next story now: ‘Thamal’s future is looking dim. Literally.’ Luckily, that’s where you come in.”

“The city council managed to narrow the power issue down to a single plant. Station Green has gone completely offline, and the other power plants can’t consistently compensate. We sent in repair drones three times, but they went dead upon arrival. So now I’m sending you, if you’ll take the job, that is. And please, keep it quiet? We’ve got a reputation to maintain.” She hands you several tourism brochures, logs from the plant and repair drones, and a map to Station Green. ”Now, do you have any questions before you head out?”

Ask questions below. If you want to figure out some information from the logs, make a Computers, Culture, or Diplomacy check.

An ikeshti eyes up the otheres present, then mutters, "Looks like the buffet has a little bit of everything."

"The name's T'Krunch," he says by way of introduction in a decidedly louder tone. "Hailed from Akiton before striking out on my own. I thought joining the Starfinder Society might give me a taste of what the Pact Worlds have to offer."

"Which reminds me, would you mind if I took a few samples from each of you?" T'Krunch inquires of the party, pulling out a small, handheld device, which includes an extendable wand tipped with a sampling nozzle. Attached to the device is a series of small, empty vials. "Don't need more than a pinch of each of you."

This is T'Krunch's microlab for his biohacker abilities.

Once he has finished his collecting, the reptilian turns to Councilor Kirslin and inquires, "What do you mean by 'dead upon arrival'? A malfunction? Total destruction? Do you have any pieces we could take a peak at?'

Glaukos eagerly takes the logs and begins studying them. As he does so, the others can clearly see that despite his heavily customized armor being humanoid in shape, the suit is entirely filled with water, with a diminutive cuttlefish-like creature swimming inside the helmet.

Wow, that's underwhelming for his first skill check ever! :(

The stellifera's skin briefly blanches in embarrassment as he finds the logs nearly inpenetrable, and he seizes upon T'Krunch's request as a welcome distraction. The ikeshti hears a curious voice in his head: What's that for? Will it hurt? I am a very small creature, after all.

My understanding of stellifera is that Glaukos is limited to speaking via telepathic message, but he understands several languages just fine (Aquan, Azlanti, Common, Ignan, Kalo, Stelliferan, Terran). I plan to make him a phrenic adept at 2nd level to give him limited telepathy, but that’s a whole 3 XP away.

A medium sized, red colored dragon emerges and strides forward. As it comes closer, it can be recognized actually as a mechanical four limbed drone construct. C-cala--? Glaukos replies, startled, then after a moment, adds timidly, I normally enjoy new experiences, but I am afraid I will have to decline this one, thank you.

The stellifera takes a wary step or two away from the ikeshti, and turns his attention back to the verthani--though one eye glances back at T'Krunch from time to time. Travel across the city is straightforward with the map that Councilor Auganir provided. Station Green stands in a paved clearing decorated with a tile mosaic of a forest against a city skyline. Grass grows in the spaces between the tiles in the 10 feet immediately surrounding the plant, edging onto its outer wall and the exterior door is ajar.

The entryway to the power plant is lit by sunlight coming through the plant’s open front door, though emergency lights in the ceiling also flicker dimly. Pieces of metal and circuitry are scattered across the floor, some sparking erratically. The sound of dripping is accompanied by faint squeaking and skittering.

En route to the station, Glaukos takes the opportunity to introduce himself properly to the other Starfinders. Except for T'Krunch, they each hear Greetings! I am Glaukos, one at a time, in their heads. Meanwhile, all of the team's comm links receive the following message: Please pardon the limits of my telepathy. I have not yet mastered how to talk to many minds at once. I am Glaukos, a stellifera and a newly-trained recruit to the Starfinder Society. My skills primarily lie in using and repairing computers and other machinery, which I believe is why I was recruited for this mission. I also enjoy studying other species and cultures, and hope that you will teach me more about each of yours.

When they reach the plant, Glaukos looks around warily, but lets his more combat-focused teammmates take point entering the site.

He does so handily enough to surprise even himself! Once he reaches the central door, he begins examining it for locks, traps, and any further clues to what happened here.

You don't see any hazards associated with the doors and they all appear to be unlocked

Which way do you go: north, east, or south?

Glaukos doesn't trust his ability to cross this room again with any dignity, so votes for the door he's already at: east.

OK, two for east. I'll assume you all move very slowly through the room, so don't worry about acrobatics.

A large, circular generator sits dormant in the center of a room filled with plant life. Vines curl up and around pipes and wires, ferns hang from ceiling lights, and thick, gray moss covers the walls. The only light comes through the doorway from the previous room.

Life Sciences DC 14:
The moss covering the walls is called sleeper moss. It does what it says, makes you sleepy. After 10 minutes of exposure, a living creature becomes fatigued unless they succeed at a Fortitude saving throw. A creature that succeeds at this saving throw is immune to the sleeper moss for 24 hours. A creature that takes a 10‑minute rest to regain Stamina is no longer fatigued due to the sleeper moss.

It also works against technological items. After 10 minutes of exposure, all non‑analog weapons and technological items of 1 Bulk or lighter have reduced effectiveness. After 1 hour of exposure, such items additionally gain the broken condition. After 24 hours, such items cease functioning. If an affected item is away from sleeper moss for at least 10 minutes, it returns to standard functionality and is no longer broken.

Sleeper moss is fragile and can be destroyed by any concerted effort, such as damaging or pulling off the moss. Removed (but not damaged) moss may be transplanted elsewhere within 8 hours if the planter succeeds at a Life Sciences check.

The southern door opens up into a hallway which curves to the left to another set of double doors.

"The moss covering these walls is called sleeper moss," notes T'Krunch. "It does what it says, makes you sleepy. It can also mess with exposed tech. Worse still, it has little nutritional value and tastes awful."

"We had best clear it." The ikeshti takes a clawed hand and starts to slowly pull off the moss and dispose of it.

Glaukos comes to the same conclusion as T'Krunch, and begins pulling down moss that the small ikeshti can't reach as easily. T'Krunch, the moss is in the room to the east, not the hall to the south.

Korth would quietly open the door to the north a crack, just enough for him to peek through to see into the room beyond.

First time PbP GM, so I'm starting simple with a bounty.

Please fill in the <Sign up Sheet> (first come, first served), and post a little bit about your character.

If you are new to PbP, welcome! Let me know and I will try to smooth the way as much as possible. Check out Doomed Hero's Guide to PbP for an intro to the system.

Expectations:
I'm still figuring this out. :)

I will be posting a minimum of once a day (once per weekend) and I expect that you will too. Please include botting instructions and macros at the bottom of your character sheet for those inevitable times when you won't be able to post.

I will post a link to Google Slides once I get that up and running. There will be some info for you to fill out to make my life a little easier.

Play Style:
Ummm, still figuring this out, too.

For combat, I'll respect initiative to resolve attacks when reasonable, but don't feel restricted to wait to post. Please list your actions in the order they happen, including saves when necessary.

Pleaes make sure you keep your tagline updated with your current Saves, Perception, Armor Class, and spells cast.

If something looks off during combat or any other time, please post in the Discussion Thread. I would much rather fix issues and discuss rulings sooner rather than later.

Dataphiles

Glaukos is a stellifera mechanic with an experimental armor prototype. At first glance, he looks like a typical humanoid encased in heavy armor, until you realize that the suit is full of water with a Diminutive cuttlefish swimming inside the helmet.

He is very tech-savvy (Computers, Engineering, Profession: miner) but also very curious about new creatures and scientific phenomena (Life & Physical Sciences) as well as new food and entertainment (sensate theme).

Glaukos is a newly-minted Starfinder, a protégé of a famous member of the Dataphiles faction (and beneficiary of their capstone boon), but is eager to prove his own worth.

Second Seekers (Ehu Hadif)

Kalhoun is a human solarion Steward attuned with electricity rather than light. His favorite things are showing off his academy-learned skills and following regulations, though he does respect other people's contributions as well. He has an undefined medic hireling running around nearby.

His armor is more mystical than mechanical, but he will likely want to compare notes with Glaukos.

Glad to see you trying out Play-by-Post. I'm a Venture Agent and have a good deal of experience running PbP, so if I can help you out in anyway please let me know.

As for T'Krunch, he is an ikeshti who's appetite knows few bounds. He tries to get samples of any potential food source organic creature he can find, which he does as an adventuring biohacker.

I mean it all in good fun, but as ikeshti ecology is described as being quite brutal, this PC has the potential to go a little dark. If the GM or any player feels that this PC is going too dark, please let me know either in a post or via PM and I will tone the character down.

As full disclosure, I have played this bounty once before with a different PC.

I look forward to sharing this table with all of you!

Signed up. Will be using a pre-gen Iseph. Still not familiar with the Starfinder system, I hope you don't mind.

Not at all. Let me know if you have any questions about Iseph or his abilities.

Tuirk Ra will be joining you. This is my goblin boon, I got this guy by paying $150 at gen-con 2021 second chance boon, but don't let that stop you from trying your best to kill him...I was told bounties you really can't die anyhow.
Anyway, he is a space-goblin ranged soldier. Sneaky and smart, but not crazy like a goblin.

Wayfinders

Korth Kothar or KK for short is a red-scaled Kobold with a combat drone construct dragon which he rides atop strapped into a riding saddle. He is obsessed with distant worlds, and always mentally catalogs everything he learns about new and strange places so he can recall it when he needs it most. He's very crafty & disassembles items to see how they work then puts them back together. He likes to enter & compete in drone racing.

Welcome, everyone! Happy to have y'all here. :)

I will play this pre-gen on behalf of Iron-59 Felicis for this game.

Please take a minute to add your Perception and Initiative to the slides. Looking forward to starting this weekend. I probably won't start until Monday or Tuesday so the full scenarios can get started.
