Cyrus, Galinndan, Kanzen, and Odak still go.

"LEAVE MY FRIENDS ALONE!" screams your gelatinous cube friend telepathically, as he slides forward and top speed and tries to distract one of the hostile gelatinous cubes.

The sentient gelatinous cube you encountered in the Oozing Temple slides along happily. Telepathically, it tells you "Blingdenstone? Blingdenstone! That sounds like a nice place to go. I want to be there."

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Galenus, take inspiration. Oh wait. You have it already. Got to spend that. ;)

In answer, Glabbagool slides off the edge of the tunnel and falls, slamming into the ground in a puddle of ooze. But the puddle reforms itself and you hear "Well that hurt but wasn't so bad."

Dam: 8d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 4, 6, 5, 1, 4) = 31

His self-preservation instincts aren't great.

"I was thinking the same thing... about both of us!"

Cyrus tastes relatively fresh water, though it certainly has a very high mineral content. Eddrikk can tell that the ceiling looks like it is rather precarious. Glabbagool responds to Galenus "No it's too bad but unlike those mean guys, I can't fit into tiny spaces..."

Galenus estimates you have about an hour before the current flow rate puts the water level at ceiling height.

The magic users deal with the problem, sending fire and force crashing into the black pudding, which shudders and falls apart.

184 xp each.

You pause and catch your breath. It's now that you realize that slow trickling of water you hadn't really noticed has been adding up. Water is flowing in through cracks in the ceiling. Glabbagool calls out in your brains "The stuff is down the way those pointy guys are going. I think they can probably get it without waking up more mean guys."

Glabbagool screeches into Eddrikk's mind "I think there might be more down the other halls!"

You sure you want to do that?

I'm not sure how you can pull that off, Kanzen, as the ooze is on the other side of Galinndan. Do you mean to leap over it or run around through a different tunnel?

"I think there are more in the other tunnels!"

Given Glabbagool's warning, I'll assume you're trying to parkour over the black pudding. I'll allow it with an AoO for rule of cool.

Eddrikk, whom are you healing? You're not in reach of Galinndan. Let's assume that's for Galenus.

GM screen:

Aoo: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Dam: 1d6 + 3 + 4d8 ⇒ (3) + 3 + (8, 3, 2, 6) = 25
Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 9

Kanzen leaps nimbly off the wall and over the ooze! It strikes him as he goes (25 damage, -1 to the ac of your armor). Then he stands brave in front of it and the ooze strikes out again! It nearly penetrates his weakened armor but Kanzen barely leaps over its pseudopods!

Party, GO!

The ooze shrieks into your minds "Oh no oh no!!! Let me help! Let me help! But I can't move past you or I'll hurt you!!"

The ooze leads you down the long, narrow passage-way, being careful to politely give you plenty of room. "I think it might hurt if I slid over you... I don't know why..." He leads you to a fork in the tunnels. You hear water dripping from the east fork, which looks to lead into natural caves. The west fork branches into multiple, humanoid-built tunnels. "The dark guys are there to the west. They live in the floor."

"No I don't... This is the only way. I guess you could be careful!" the ooze suggests helpfully.

"Ooh city of mushrooms sounds fun! I'd love to come!" Glabbagool considers the question. "Umm.... big like me but a bit tougher... dark... ya know... like that... they live in the floor but come up every now and then when they're really hungry. I leave them alone."

"Oh yeah, sure. What kind of stuff do you guys look for or like? Do you like discs and bonkers like those? I can show you some more! But there are some mean dumb guys in the way..."

Kanzen is correct.

Glabbagool quivers in an impression of a nod. "Sure! Here ya go!" 14 ep ooze forth and clatter to the floor along with the mostly digested body of a drow.

DC 14 arcana on the mace:

The mace is a common magic item. While attuned the weapon, its wielder can use an action to make the head of the mace alight with green flame, or use an action to extinguish the flame. While the mace is “lit,” it glows as brightly as a torch and deals an extra 1 fire damage on a hit.

The ooze quivers in agreement and excitement. "Yes! I cannot speak as you do. It is really amazing to hear you vibrating the air like that and understand it!"

Glabbagool is totally happy to chat for a while but feel free to proceed whenever you want.

"Oh good! I'd rather not fight like those other brainless guys. I just kind of woke up here... Not sure how or why... I don't really have anything to do... Oh I know! Can I come with you? You guys look like you didn't just become conscious!"

"Hey! What's with the stabbing and fire?" you hear in your minds.
