Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Sorry to hear that. Good luck in the future with your webcomics/RPG projects. Will you be marking the game as inactive?

Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Round 1

With his nerves already on edge, Gil jumps back in shock when the skeletons suddenly rush him. Instinct takes over and he finds his footing. He pulls out his hammer and swings at the creature standing before him.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 5) + 9 = 19

Gil: Move Action to draw Earth Breaker, Standard Action to attack Red Skeleton.

Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

"Awwwwwwwwww MAN!" shouts Gil as the noises reach their climax. He's moving around a whole lot, trying to shake out all of the apprehension. "Gods! I hate this kind of stuff! Friggin' ghosts or spirits or magic or...WHATEVER! ARGH!"

He calms down somewhat, clapping his hands together as he approaches the main doors. "Whatever, let's get this done."

Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

"Amazing that this still standing after so long." says Gil as he examines the exterior of the estate. With a shrug he starts to push open the bronze gate and head into the courtyard. "We best get started right away. With any luck we could be done by mid-afternoon."

Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Anyone got Kn: Nobility or History? Otherwise I'll just roll untrained under the assumption I can access a Library.

Kn (History): 1d20 ⇒ 5
Kn (Nobility): 1d20 ⇒ 8

Unless anyone wants to shop or something, we might as well get to it.

Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Well I can't actually do that much. I'm just a Barbarian after all. My charisma isn't particularly high and most of my time has been spent playing politics.

Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

"Speaking of, I should go and pick up our next assignment." says Gil. Along the way he also tries to catch some news of how the other groups were doing.

Kn: Local: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

"Ah, that's hard to hear." says Gil solemnly. But his face picks back up a heartbeat later "But if that's what you gotta do Tobias, then best of luck to you. You're too smart for this line of work anyways. Leave the sloggin' to us Breakers, we've got thick skulls after all." and he taps his finder against his head.

"What about the rest of you? Now that you've seen what it's like down there are you still up to it?"

Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Gil shakes the bony hand with his own huge paw "Oh, you can just call me Gil. Like he said, I'm working on behalf of the Breakers Guild to survey the Necropolis. Although right now I actually have some arrangements to make before our next trip out there. The rest of the group is at [Tavern] if you wanted to meet them."

----

There are still things the Breaker needed to arrange before the next site was announced. With Bastion dead and Seeker joining in the lottery would need to be informed of the change in ranks. On top of that the Breakers Guild had some sort of contract with Bastion that likely contained a clause for untimely death. That would needed to be sorted out as well. He also wanted to pick up some things while he was out and about.

Shopping:

Donating 127gp, 33sp, 63cp

Purchasing

  • Potion of Cure Light Wounds @ 50 gp
    Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

    34gp, 89sp, 09cp remaining.

  • Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

    PROPOSED GP SPLIT

    Group Fund: 265gp 28sp 40cp

A share of 212gp, 22sp ,and 72cp goes to myself, Dorian, Lilia, Tobias, and Seeker.

Hopefully I didn't bungle the math. Anyone have a problem with the gp split?

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

    Level Up:

    HP: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
    +Superstition Rage Power
    +Uncanny Dodge
+1 Skill Point: Perception, Disable Device, Kn: Engineering, Acrobatics

Having seen his share of bizarre things in the tomb Gil works to steel his mind. If he wanted to keep working in the Necropolis he'd have to be better prepared against whatever trickery it may hold.

Gil nervously offers a hand to shake. He hadn't had much experience speaking speaking on a personal level to the clergy so he was trying to be careful in avoiding any taboos. "Well Mr. uh...Seeker? Sorry, is it alright to call you that? You're welcome to join us in the next delve. We haven't been assigned a site yet, but we could sure do with some extra man power."

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Then unless someone wants to try their hand at haggling I'm just gonna fleece the leftovers through the Breakers Guild.

Gil prepares a delivery to his Guildmasters along with the tale of his success in the Necropolis. He also turns over the map he had made of the tomb.

    Fleeced Items:

  • The Chariot Chest
  • Masterwork Kopesh
  • Two urns of nard
  • Masterwork Longbow and arrows
  • A gold scarab cloak clasp
  • A silver hand mirror
  • Citrinic coins
  • Jewelry and Gemstones
  • Meanwhile the Barbarian takes a trip to the church of Opal to report the success of their trip. He does so bearing a gift, the silver holy symbol of Opal from the tomb, to the church. No charge, no strings attacked. A sign of good faith hopefully.

Afterwards he makes some quick copies of the papers and the metal book and then takes the originals, along with the darkwood coffer, and offers them up as a historic donation to one of the local Kobold universities. This time to show the Sultinate that he, and the Breakers Guild in general, are willing to play ball.

I imagine it'll be taking me a while to play politics.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

After a few minutes the Barbarian sludes the lid back into place and says "Right let's start packing this up. I'll get everything into this here coffer. The rest we'll pick up on the way out, let's keep it to just what we can carry by hand."

Taking all of the listed treasure with us except for the chariot, the tapestries, and the four golden masks.

    -----
Later, once they've returned to town, Gil sits down with the others and starts to sort through the haul.

Appraise: 1d20 ⇒ 14 Determine the gp value of the jewelry and gemstones.
Appraise: 1d20 ⇒ 16 Determine exact gp value of the 400-600 coind
Aporaise: 1d20 ⇒ 13 Determine general gp value of darkwood coffer

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

    Yes, is that an issue?

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Well I still have the same list as earlier.

  • Padded Armor
  • The two metal books
  • The private papers
  • The darkwood coffer
  • The silver holy symbol

  • Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Alright. If Lilia or Tobias don't want anything to do with the mummy I guess we can move on.

Does anyone have issue leaving behind the chariot, tapestries, or gold masks?

And I think we should give Bastion's share to Seeker.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

For items sure, though I'd still prefer a close to even split of gp. Regardless I think we should always maintain a group pool to be used for healing, travel, lodging, etc.

On a side note: is Lilia still around? She hasn't posted in a while.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

In the interest of not defacing the tomb itself and upsetting anything unnecessarily, I think we should pass up the chariot, the masks on the wall, and the tapestries. I'd want to leave the chest and cofferr to, but unfortunately I think we need them to help transport stuff.

Also: how do you guys want to do shares? Ideally I'd want to pool the coin, set aside 20% or so as a group fund, and then dole out the rest equally. For the actual items I think it would also be easier if everyone put together a list of what they want by priority and then we can work out some sort of trade if two people want the same thing. Afterwards we can liquidate the leftovers. So something like this:

    Spoiler:

    1) Magic (?) Padded Armor
    2) The two metal books
    3) The private papers
    4) The darkwood coffer
    5) The silver holy symbol

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

I'm just waiting to see if either Tobais or Lilia want to do something with the body. Once they give me the all clear I'll close the sarcophagus and then we can move on.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Gil takes a few steps back once the lid is off. Something about this whole thing gives him goosebumps, makes his skin crawl. He avoids looking at the body altogether, instead distracting himself with thoughts on what the priests will say once they return to the city.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Howdy Seeker. Looks like we'll be braving the wilds together once again.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Gil hesitates for a moment before saying "Aye, that's good thinking Dorian. Alright, I'll open it up nice and careful. Tobias and Lilia: you guys are the experts on this sort of thing so just...do what comes natural I guess? Dorian: can you start getting all this stuff together and ready to move? I think most of it'll fit in that coffer." With that Gil turns and starts trying to slide the lid off of the sarcophagus.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

    Appraise: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15
    Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
    Disable Device: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

"I'll take the chests then. Dorian and Lilia: can you two work on checking the contents of the Urn. Get everything ready to move, once we're done here we can head back up to the surface."

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

"I...never really considered what we'd do once we got here. I'm kind of at a loss. Tobias, what do you think? You're the one with all of the books."

We had two player slots open up as I understand it, so there's room for two new characters.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

"'Cause you've got the torch..." quips the barbarian. After a few seconds of silence he capitulates.

    "Alright, yeah. Let's get going."

    Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
    Disable Device: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

"Man, it's just one thing after another" mutters Gil as he investigates the newly opened entrance now that the combat is over.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

"Augh! Ouch!" yelps Gil as flames lick at his feet. Shaking off the pain he refocuses, drawing his hammer and swinging at the insects swarming around him.

    Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
    Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 5) + 9 = 19

Gil:Standard Action to attack Swarm, 5-foot step outside of Swarm.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Gil asks Tobias to help him search the walls. Gil will start search the eastern wall. This time around he goes painfully slow, searching every nook and crevice he can find.

Taking 20 on the perception check for a total of 25

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Unable to find the way to move forward, but also unwilling to give up, Gil finds himself a nice spot to sit down and think. He pulls out the map he had been keeping and starts to examine it. This deep underground, and near a river nonetheless, there would be only so many possibilities for additional excavation. Looking at his notes he tries to put his years of experience as a Breaker to use.

Taking 10 on Knowledge (Engineering) for a 16

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

"We still haven't found the real sarcophagus. Is it even really down here?" Gil searches the room for any hidden doors and, failing that, digs around among the stash in hopes that there may be a map of some sorts among the treasures.

    Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 for hidden doors
    Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 for maps or the like

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Gil examines the lock and begins to tamper with its mechanism. Without the appropriate tools picking it would prove to be difficult. If it were to come down to it the Breaker would not hesitate to simply use a liberal application of his hammer to open the door.

    Disable Device: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
    Sunder: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 If the disable device fails

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

"I agree, for now let's just make note that they're here - maybe see if you or Tobias can get an idea of the age of the remains. Dorian, could you help me with this other door please?" says Gil, moving to the Western door and repeating the process.

    Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
    Disable Device: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Good luck getting everything back on track.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

I imagine Tobias would like to replace one of his potions from the remains.

Gil busies himself while waiting for the rest of the group, checking both of the doors that Dorian had pointed out.

    Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
    If trappedDisable Device: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Once satisfied, Gil attempts to open the Eastern door first.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

"Ugh, it was- it was a lucky shot." groans Gil as he struggles back to his feet. Even then, he still needs a few minutes to catch his breath and collect himself.

When he finally regains his composure Tobias and Dorian had found a way deeper into the tomb. His eyes find their way to the grisly remains of their former leader and all he can do is simply cover the body with cloth. "Take whatever it is you need" he says grimly "But do so quickly, we need to continue moving. We still need to be out of the tomb before nightfall."

"We'll collect the body on the way out...and I will see him properly buried" he concludes while he waits for the others to finish up their business.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

    Superstition: 1d100 ⇒ 72

The first dose of foul liquid brings Gil back from the brink of death causing him to sit up and start coughing violently. When a second dose is virtually forced upon him his first instinct is to push it away but to no avail as the cocktail finds its way into his system regardless. Even so, his body continues to resist the effects of the strange liquid in vain.

    Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Seconded, a healer would be nice in the future.

I also think we could stand to have some more ranged power and we also need someone with good skills to replace Tobias.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Well it's liable to finish me off before then given that I'm currently glued to it. So don't put yourselves in a bad spot on my account.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Dorian and Lilia: if it comes down to it, don't hesitate to get out of there to save yourselves. We've only done about 35 damage so far which means we've still got a ways to go (I think).

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

At the very least it'll end up with an awful case of indigestion.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

The barbarian manages to utter one last curse before the mimic gobbles him as well.

    Stabilize: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

    Man...

If this thing kills me I'm rolling a fighter.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

    Round 1

Gil draws his hammer, about to go all-out on the mimic but Dorians words reach him before he does. He puts on a grimace and waits until the swashbuckler moves into place before unleashing a mighty swing:

    Power Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
    Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 2) + 9 = 13

Gil: Free Action to enter Controlled Rage (+4 STR/+2 CON), Move Action to draw Earth Breaker, Delay to initiative 7, Standard Action to attack Mimic

    Strength Check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Alright that gives me Disable Device at +6 and I can disarm magical traps. No other significant changes (I think Kn: local and appraise go up by 1).

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

    Proposed Changes:

  • Picked up the Superstitious Drawback.
  • Swapped Inquisitive Archaeologist for Trap Finder
  • Picked up the Structural Knowledge Trait.
  • I'm going to bump my INT so I don't have to shift skill points, but pumping it to 16 would be irresponsible I think. So I'm just gonna push it to 10 for the one rank I need for disable device.

  • Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

Has Dorian also left? And I'm going to look at picking up a drawback too.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

I need to swap some traits and skill points so I can pick up disable device. There may have been something else but it escapes me at the moment.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

I have no problem continuing to play. The only thing is that if we are to continue on with only 3 players I'd request the chance for a minor rebuild so that I can cover some of what has been lost.

    Male Human Urban Barbarian 1

    Rule #1: Know your audience.

Unfortunately this will probably end up killing the game by way of polarization. Guess we'll see how this plays out.
