Hi all.

Apologies in advance, but I’m new to Prestige classes and have a couple of questions.

I’m currently a 5th level Paladin worshiping Ragathiel. The Crimson Templar sounds like a good fit.

1. The prerequisites for this class is BAB +6. Does this mean that I need to be a 6th level Paladin with a BAB of +6 and then level up to Crimson Templar (with a BAB of +7) OR that I can level up from a 5th level Paladin with a BAB of +5 to a Crimson Templar with a BAB of +6?

2. The Deific Obedience for Ragathiel

Slay a proven wrongdoer in Ragathiel’s name. It is not enough for the sacrifice to have an evil heart or evil intentions; the sacrifice must have committed evil or unlawful deeds.

Seriously! I mean it stands to reason that we are going to be killing evil creatures anyways if you are playing a Good Aligned adventure, but kill kill kill doesn’t sound awfully LG when the truly repentant seek redemption. Can we assume that Evil creatures have committed evil or unlawful deeds anyways?

Thanks
George

Hi All.

Simple Question.

I'm a 14th Level Paladin and I cast Corruption Resistance on myself.
I select "Good" as the Alignment type.
I take 15 less points of damage from effects that specifically harm creatures of that alignment.

I'm attacked by CR15 Demon with an Unholy Weapon who has also used Smite Good on me.

Do I reduce both the Unholy damage (2d6) AND the Smite Good damage (15) by 15 points or do I just reduce the total damage by 15 for each attack?

Thanks
George

Hi All.

I have been doing a bit of reading up about this in several posts but would appreciate some feedback on this build.

Basically want to have an Unchained Monk who will eventually wield a Katana as his Primary Weapon and I want to benefit from all the Monk Abilities being delivered through the Katana including but not limited to Flurry and the Progressive Unarmed Strike Damage.

My Monk is totally Dex based.
My GM has allowed any PF content and I'm utilising Path of War.

Level Progression

1 UM1 Weapon Finesse, Deadly Agility, Combat Reflexes (Bonus Feat)
2 CruClr1 Exotic Wpn Proficiency (Katana), Weapon Focus (Katana)
3 UM2 Crusaders Flurry (Katana), Dodge (Bonus Feat)
4 UM3 Wisdom +1
5 UM4 Mobility, Empty Body (Ki Power)
6 UM5 Flying Kick (Style Strike)
7 UM6 Ascetic Style (Katana), Improved Trip (Bonus Feat), Elemental Fury (Ki Power)
8 UM7 Wisdom +1
9 UM8 Ascetic Form (Katana), Abundant Step (Ki Power)
10 UM9 Defensive Spin (Style Strike)
11 UM10 Greater Trip, Improved Critical (Katana)(Bonus), Qinggong Ki Power (Restoration)
12 UM11 Wisdom +1
13 UM12 Jabbing Style, Qinggong Ki Power (Step Up and Strike)
14 UM13 Spin Kick (Style Strike)
15 UM14 Jabbing Dancer, Medusa's Wrath (Bonus), Qinggong Ki Power (Ki Shout)
16 UM15 Wisdom +1, Throat Crush (Style Strike)
17 UM16 Feat(?), Quivering Palm (Ki Power)
18 UM17 Rabbit Punch (Style Strike)
19 UM18 Feat(?), Snatch Arrows (Bonus Feat), Elemental Burst (Ki Power)
20 UM19 Wisdom +1
21 UM20 Feat(?), Ki Power(?)

Points in relation to my selections

* The Level Dip into Crusader Cleric was to gain the two bonus feats relating to the Katana and tick off pre-requisites. Also a little extra Healing can't hurt right.
* I listed Exotic Weapon Prof (Katana) as I assume that a Cleric's favoured weapon means Exotic for Katana and not Martial.
* Weapon Finesse/Deadly Agility to use Dex for Attack and Damage rolls
* Crusader's Flurry to make the Katana a Monk Weapon.
* Ascetic Style at 5th Level says you can use any Monk Weapon. I'm taking this feat as a Level 6 Unchained Monk.
* I believe I still need Crusader's Flurry even when taking Ascetic Form because Ascetic Style is it's prerequisite and the previous point applies?
* I don't believe I need Ascetic Strike as my Progressive Unarmed Damage applies with Ascetic Style and this feat only applies to Non Unchained Monks?

A few questions in relation to Derklord's post about the "Unchained Monk wielding a katana with the Versatile Design weapon modification plus Weapon Adept, Ascetic Style and Ascetic Form"

* Is a Katana with the Versatile Design (Monk) attribute considered a Monk Weapon and as such I won't need Crusader's Flurry or a Weapon Proficiency in Katana?
* The Weapon Adept(Versatile Design) feat treats these weapons as they were Katana and therefore Weapon Focus (Katana) still applies?
* That with a Versatile Katana (Monk) and Weapon Adept (Versatile Design), I don't need to level dip into Crusader Cleric but I still need to take Weapon Focus (Katana) for Ascetic Style?

I must admit I find the whole thing so very confusing, hence the reason I'm reaching out to you :)

Kind Regards
George

Hi All.

I'm playing a new campaign with an Unchained Monk. Just wanted clarification on the rules and combining both of the items in the title.

Question 1...

Lets say I have

+3 Amulet of Mighty Fists
+1 Holy Bane (Dragon) Body Wrap of Mighty Strikes

I understand that Enhancement Bonuses don't stack so that it remains +3.
What I'm unclear about is whether the enhancement bonuses are on my unarmed attacks (weapon) or the item itself. I'm leaning towards the weapon and not the item.

Bane - Against a designated foe, the weapon’s enhancement bonus is +2 better than its actual bonus.

Would this give my Unarmed Strikes the equivalent of +3 or +5 on attacks against Dragons? I'm asking if the additional +2 Enhancement bonus on my Unarmed Strikes from the Bane weapon ability becomes +5 against dragons, or is the +2 applied to the item and hence only increasing it to +3?

Question 2...

My thought processes on these two items is to use the AoMF for straight Enhancement Bonuses so I can gain the bonus for every attack regardless of situation and the BWoMS for ability bonuses equivalents like Bane and Holy which are limited to BAB increases and not all my attacks.

Is my thinking sound or should I be looking at it another way?

Thanks
George

Hi all.

I will apologise in advance if this has been discussed before but I couldn't find. I have a few questions.

1. If I am wanting to hover over a target (have passes the skill check etc), how far above the target do I need to say I am when I have a 5' reach?

2. While hovering over the target, what squares am I threatening below. If you were to think of a numeric keypad and I am smack bang in the middle at 5, do I threaten all squares 1 through 9?

123
456
789

3. If the target is directly below me in square 5, can it take a 5' step to avoid an Attacks of Opportunity?

4. How do things change if the target is large (and occupying all 9 squares below) or huge?

Thanks
George

Hi All.

This is a question to clarify the FAQ item below, in particular the "other limitations" part.

Mithral armor: What exactly does it mean when it says mithral armor is counted as one category lighter for “other limitations?”

This means that mithral armor allows its wearer to use it when her own class features or special abilities demand her to wear lighter armor; in other words, the character wearing the armor is less limited. For example, a bard can cast spells in mithral breastplate without arcane spell failure, a barbarian can use her fast movement in mithral fullplate, a ranger can use his combat style in mithral fullplate, brawlers, swashbucklers, and gunslingers can keep their nimble bonus in mithral breastplate, rogues keep evasion in mithral breastplate, a brawler can flurry in mithral breastplate, characters without Endurance can sleep in mithral breastplate without becoming fatigued, and so on. It does not change the armor’s actual category, which means that you can still store a creature one size category larger in a hosteling mithral fullplate, and you can’t enhance a mithral breastplate with special abilities that require it to be light armor, like brawling (though you could enhance it with special abilities that require it to be medium armor), and so on.

The details...
* I have an Aasimar with Angel Wings
* I'm wearing Mithral Fullplate (so get -3 on my Fly check and Poor Manoeuvrability)

Does the ruling above mean that the Mithral armour will not reduce my manoeuvrability to Poor as I would not have this limitation when wearing light armour?

Thanks
George

Hi All.

The details...
* I have an Aasimar with Angel Wings
* I'm a Sword and Board 12th Level Paladin of Iomedae.
* I'm wearing Mithral Fullplate (so get -3 on my Fly check and Poor Manoeuvrability)
* I'm using a Mithral shield
* I have the Craft Magic Arms and Armour Item Creation Feat

I'm trying to find a way of

1. Improving my Competence in Fly Skill by 10
2. Improve my Manoeuvrability by 1
3. Improve my Speed by atleast 10'

I'm aware of the Spell - Strong Wings and figure the easy option would be to get a Wand for 750 gp, but I have no skill points in UMD and given I have 2 skill points each level, it's going to take a while to get to a decent level.

I was thinking perhaps a Ring of Improved Flying (similar to Improved Swimming etc) and adding on Strong Wings. What I'm not sure about is:

1. Can you have the Strong Wings element permanent (no need to activate) and what would this cost
2. Can you have the Strong Wings element on say for a maximum of 10 rounds a day, like the boots of speed, and what would this cost
3. Is there a way of adding these features to say a Shield (given you can get a Winged Shield) and what would that cost.

I don't need a spell to fly as I already have wings, I just need to supplement what I already have.

Thanks
George
