Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

I only see a chronicle for Karasuma. Am I missing something?

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle wipes her brow in exhaustion. "Can I sleep now? And maybe buy a mace?"

Thanks!

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Player: TomG
PFS ID#: 9440-1
Character: Sahba Mandyra

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle's blade continues to dance. It's not as effective as she'd like, but it's all she has.

Rapier+flag: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 1 = 20
dmg+precision+flag: 1d6 + 1 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 4 + 1 = 8

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

It's nice to know it's not just me. I feel like I haven't been able to roll above a 10 on any critical diplomancy or combat roll for a couple of weeks. In another thread, I had five Perception rolls under 5 in a row.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Rapier+flag: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 1 = 21
dmg+precision+flag: 1d6 + 1 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 4 + 1 = 11

Jirelle would say something witty, but she's not mentally recovered from the fight with the mushrooms.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

The riposte counts against her 6 AoO per round (Combat Reflexes). After using the ability to counterattack, she'd only be able to make 5 attacks of opportunity (if foes were kind enough to offer her those).

Maybe if an enemy used a spell-like ability (1) that does a ranged-touch attack (2) before moving out of a threatened area (3) would get her part of the way, but that seems unlikely.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle brushes off the slight hit and renews her attack.

Rapier+flag: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 10 + 1 = 15
dmg+precision+flag: 1d6 + 1 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 4 + 1 = 10

She watches the movements of the dinosaur carefully, planning her response.
The next time she's attacked, she'll use the Opportune Parry ability.

Opportune Parry and Riposte:
When an enemy attempts a melee attack against Jirelle (but before it rolls its attack roll), Jirelle can spend an attack of opportunity and 1 panache to make an attack roll as if she was making an attack of opportunity with a –2 penalty for every size larger than Jirelle the enemy is. If Jirelle’s result is higher than the enemy’s, the attack misses, and Jirelle can then spend an immediate action to make a counterattack against that enemy, as long as she can reach it.

Rapier+flag-size difference: 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 1 - 2 = 19
If this (19) is higher than enemy's attack, it misses and she gets a free attack.
Rapier+flag: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 1 = 27
dmg+precision+flag: 1d6 + 1 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 4 + 1 = 10

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle dashes in, drawing her blade. "Aha! Maybe a challenge at last!"

Rapier+flag: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 10 + 1 = 30
dmg+precision+flag: 1d6 + 1 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 4 + 1 = 7

CONFIRM Rapier+flag: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 1 = 25
CONFIRM dmg+flag: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Waiting on Karasuma.

=P

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Perception: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 10 - 2 = 14

Jirelle doesn't see any purple outline...

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle follows the rest of the party, singing nursery songs to herself.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

"Wow. Remind me not to make her angry," Jirelle mutters.

... with her diminished Intelligence, she might forget ... :P

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle steps slightly around the thing, opening up a wee bit of space. 5' step, but not yet enough to flank.

Rapier+flag: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 1 = 21
dmg+precision+flag: 1d6 + 1 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 4 + 1 = 8

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

*Two* actions? Then *I* missed something. It's waaay past my bed time, but I wanted to check in so as not to hold y'all up further.

Move as needed. vs yellow, unless it isn't.

Rapier+flag: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 10 + 1 = 23
dmg+precision+flag: 1d6 + 1 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 4 + 1 = 11

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Sorry for being out. Weekends are usually a bit easier on me than this, but this one was killer.

Jirelle steps up and engages the .. whatever these things are. (yellow)

Rapier: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
dmg+precision+flagbearer: 1d6 + 1 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 4 + 1 = 11

EDIT: Added flag-bearer. Have been forgetting that one.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

"Um, shall we keep exploring?"

Jirell wanders to the "south" door of the chamber they just came from. Newly marked as 'E'.

Inspecting it briefly, she throws it open with abandon.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 10 - 2 = 18

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

After a cursory look around the room, Jirelle wanders down the north corridor, wondering where it leads. (Off map)

Perception: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 10 - 2 = 18

ohhh... but why? Now that could be sn amusing thread! I do appreciate your concern for propriety though.. jokes like that are such a slippery slope..

Well, you see, I didn't want to get in any sticky situations...

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Missed an important qualifier, above: Jirell has **NO** weapons other than rapiers.

Responding to Rolanod's call that her rapiers would be ineffective, Jirelle continues her defensive posture. Total Defense for +4 AC

Spirit attack: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 3 = 27
Spirit dmg: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

I will refrain from any inappropriate jokes about Reflex saves from K/Y and jellies.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

I missed that Rolando ninja'd me and described the jellies. Do total defense instead, but up close so spirits can attack. Jirelle has weapons other than rapiers.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle pulls out her rapier. "Have at thee, little brown puddle! When I finish with you, you'll be nothing more than a trouser stain."

Also delaying until Rolando begins. Then draw/move up and fight defensively (+2 AC)

Rapier-defensively: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 10 - 4 = 22
dmg+precision: 1d6 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 4 = 7

Assuming Rolando's spirits appear:
Spirit attack: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 3 = 16
Spirit dmg: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Again, please? Jirelle looks over at Rolando. "Maybe pick a door with something interesting?"

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle points at the north door dramatically. With a wide sweep of her arm, she says, "Rolando, if you please."

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle looks up at the statue. "Hmm. Rocky. And has book. I used to read books."

She glances over at it quickly. "This one boring. No pictures."
Perception: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 - 2 = 13

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Yep. Sounds great. Let's do it before Jirelle tries using another 'B' word.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

"Sparkly," Jirelle says of the mysterious ore. Surprisingly, she has little else to say about it, but jumps in with the others to secure a load.

That done, she turns to Rolando. "Before we go, we should all Be ready to Brave what comes next. By the way, my Besties (yes, you too, Brute and Bard)," she says, nodding to Amiri and Rolando in turn, "I Believe we may have Blanked out and passed By a door. Should we head Back and see?"

"And gods Be praised for our Bounteous Blessings!"

@Rolando, I know re the -1 vs -2. But a) Jirelle has odd-numbered skills, so the -2 is more technically correct despite the simpler application of -2 attr => -1 on checks the speed rule advises, and b) -2 is what I clarified with GM earlier, so I didn't feel the need to change the deal.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

"That was ... brief." Yet felt like it took a while. Time is weird in this universe.

"Amiri got hit. You doin' okay? I'm okay. We're okay. We're all okay. Except maybe you. Are you okay?"

Jirelle continues babbling while she further explores the room the creatures inhabited.

Perception-Wis dmg: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 10 - 2 = 9

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

That's what you get for doing laundry. It's why I never do laundry. Plague-infested *mumble* *mumble* ...

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Instead of raging, withdraw was always an option.

And Rolando's position does interrupt flanking. These quarters are pretty cramped.

@GM: Can you summarize where things stand?

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

... and now that the song is up, spirit attacks to accompany the readied action
Spirit attack: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 3 = 27
Spirit dmg: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

EDIT to confirm:
CONFIRM Spirit attack: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 3 = 26
EXTRA Spirit dmg: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

"Oooh, spirits. Spirits for haunting, spirits for drinking, spirits for dying."

Jirelle is babbling again.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Poor Amiri. It's as if the "designer" found everything that did ability damage, and put them in one place. *sigh*

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle readies her rapier for when the enemies have finished moving and end within her reach.

Rapier+flanking: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 + 2 = 32
dmg+precision: 1d6 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 4 = 9

CONFIRM Rapier+flanking: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 2 = 28
EXTRA dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Fighting is so much easier when there's someone to tell you what to do, Jirelle mulls.

GM DevilDoc wrote:
I am laughing way too hard to take offense to the implied slight upon my domestic abilities..

No slight on you, just describing how laundry happens at my house, along with a little wishful thinking about the next encounter.

The ogre part is literally true, though, I swear.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Ah, 'Thing 1' and 'Thing 2'. Jirelle recalls them vaguely from a book read to her as a child. She doesn't have a red jumpsuit or a goldfish, but she certainly knows how to make a mess.

"I know some new tricks, a lot of good tricks. I will show them to you."

Jirelle's mental faculties may be impaired, but her blade is not. She steps to the side and readies a stab for when a beast is flanked by her companions.

Rapier+flanking: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 10 + 2 = 24
dmg+precision: 1d6 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 4 = 8

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

What he meant to type is the south room smells of sunshine and freshness. Magic sprites zoom between pieces of cloth with little sparks of electricity, imbuing each piece with just the right amount of static. Colors run wild in your vision as whites and reds swirl together, and everything comes out pink and faded.

In the far corner, a sweaty ogre folds clothes, grumping about how no one else helps out around here.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle follows along, whistling happily, and poking the stone wall with her rapier as she goes.

"No secret door there. No secret door there. No secret door there ..."

She still seems a bit slow, mentally, but at least is no longer high on mushrooms.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Ability damage, not drain, right? Heals at 1 per day... So, Int/Wis/Cha now only -3 instead of -4! Not enough to make any improvement in her rolls, but slightly better.

Adjusted scores (post-sleep):
Int: 7, Wis: 9, Cha: 11

Unless GM rules it takes 24 hrs, not just a good night's sleep. Very little difference, in terms of crunchy mechanics, as these are all still between ability bonus tiers.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

"Quiz caster dot rip socks toadies," Jirelle murmurs in her sleep.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle mumbles quietly as she falls asleep.

"Cous cous custodian applesauce custard."

She mumbles unintelligibly shaking her head. It's not quite right.

"Crease caster diet hips-nose custodies."

It's on the tip of her tongue, a lost, fleeting memory. Her thoughts trail off into darkness and dreams. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes... Maybe tomorrow she'll remember what it means.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle wanders in, and begins stabbing at the wall with her sword.

"Poke, poke. Stab. Stabby wall. Make holes. Holes, like cheese. Highlands cheese. White, with holes. Can take it with you. Portable. Portable cheese holes. Me hungry." She begins to rummage through her pack for something to eat, preferably corn chips.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle wanders over to the western door. She doesn't seem to remember that typically Rolando's servant handles this sort of thing. She makes a big show of searching it (badly), before yanking it open (if no one tries to stop her).

Perception-ability dmg: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 10 - 2 = 16

"Door open. Door close. Door open. Creeeaaak. Open. Open creaky door."

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

So, take a rest, or keep going? We have the chamber just to our left that needs exploring.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

"Hmm?" Jirelle looks up, recognizing her name.

"Me be is good. Like, yeah. Am is really goodish. Can we hit stuff again?"

Clearly something is off with her.

"Plants got angry. Angry mushroom. Mad mushroom. Bad mad mushroom. Whooh! Maybe ate bad mushroom."

It will wear off in time, it will just take several days.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Jirelle, recovered from her nausea, stands glassy-eyed. Drool pools at the edge of her open mouth as she stares off at nothing, barely noticing the party. Her lively demeanor has dwindled, and she seems less ... extraordinary.

Int reduced to 6, Wis to 8, Cha to 10

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

So, just waiting for Amiri to continue to next round?

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

I get it. I'm in the middle of only my 2nd PFS GM at a different table.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Thanks! Was really just trying to learn more about these beasts (and other beasts) to help me GM in the future.

Jirelle — F ½E Swashbuckler

Yah, definitely want to rest, after this ability damage. Although it will (so far) take four days of recovery.

For those like me that are nauseated (I didn't remember the effect, so I went to look it up), it means only a single move action per turn.

Jirelle spends her next turn nearly retching. Clearly this fight has unbalanced her.
