Gelein mostly ignored his words, Nethys knew all. It was why not even other gods crossed him as he would already know and deal with them as such. Nethys would remain even if others fell.
"You have yet to speak on the purpose of these orrery's or what they have to do with the as yet unknown event. Not to mention what activating them would do, could you not simply create a protection around the target to render the device useless. Seems it would be a easier task, as well as keep the current balance as is."
He considered it short sighted, removing two fundamental aspects of existance. Wasn't good defined by evil, did law not grow from chaos.
"Nethys is on no ones side, he is neutral. Unless he directs me otherwise I see no point in choosing one over the other. You cant destroy a fundamental aspect of existance. If you did it would throw things out of balance, the reaction could be a worse outcome or even the very destruction sought to be avoided but in a different way."
Been here the whole time, just have seen no need. Everything I do amounts to little or nothing so just waiting until such a time as I can do something.

Depends on you, we talked about Hase visiting Gelein at one point when he was younger. But never settled on anything, regardless I doubt Gelein would remember you, just not his nature to remember everyone he meets. ;)
Gelein does not make the first move in social settings. Go figure ;P
Gelein and Shiqos move towards the figure but keep ready. He was getting tired of these mellow dramatic antics. His temple was attacked and the planes were being twisted, did whatever summoned him even care. He had yet to see any proof of that, what he did know is it caused damage to Nethys temple. Not a good start at all in his book.
What little thought he had on the annoying thing was dispelled with its attack on the temple. His eyes flashing to black he cast a spell with a single word rippling with power. A rainbow field shapes around to protect the temple and harm the tentacles should they attempt to damage it further.
Gelein pats Shiqos letting her know to get ready. The elven archer draws her bow, while Gelein readies a spell in case whatever was attached to those tenticles was not friendly. In his experience they rarely were.
Your cohort will also not always be with you, especially for the introductory piece. <-Thats where I got the idea from, its on page 1 a few post down.
Gelein just waits with Shiqos, knowing full well that a few moments made no difference. They both just enjoyed the view, slightly ruined by the lastest addition.
Well really you said not to involve cohorts early on, which is why I kept mine out of the picture. But if everyone else with a cohort has them around all the time its kinda pointless for me to be the only one following that rule you know. Not going to the only one doing without if its allowed. Etheir way I am good just need a little continuity.
Points to robe of eyes, it can see in every direction, and even if it is a cone you can scan things around you until you run into something. Sense its a at will I can recast as much as needed.
Gelein rolls his eyes, he would never understand the dramatics. He guessed it was something about serving Nethys that made him harder to impress in that sense.

He did not expect a reply but he cast a detection spell in case and looked around.
Gelein is atop Maelstrom's Heart, at the highest point of the temple's tower. Upon the stone floor of the tower he scan's the surrounding area for miles. The stone archs the only obstruction from the growing alien sky.
The astral plane is being effected, demiplanes are tied to the astral plane. So really nowhere is safe or immune if things go pop. I wonder if Nex and Tar-Baphon will escape if the planes get shacky enough to bust a crack in their respective prison's. Granted the most stable place in the planes happens to be Nex's place. ;3
Gelein checks the time and heads to the tower of the boneyard if he has time. If not he returns to Mealstrom's Heart to await whatever the letter referred to.
Leave it up to the DM if he has time to check the tower for more information or not.
Well your the DM I go with what you say, personally I would think that heaven's library would have more information on the inner sphere rather then the outer sphere sense the outer sphere holds all its most powerful enemies who have the real ability to hide information from them. A tower of hell, abyss, and such does not make sense as it would be full of evil information but what do I know. Anyways Gelein will follow up on the other text related to a key's location. As well as try the tower's of axis, the abyss, and the boneyard.
I think you misread it, it says other not outer. There are ten planes to begin with so their can not be nine outer planes when they all exist in one. The ten planes are positive energy plane, negitive energy plane, material plane, shadow plane, air plane, water plane, earth plane, fire plane, ethereal plane, and astral plane. The astral plane encompasses all of the outer sphere which is made up of domains such as heaven, hell, the boneyard, etc etc thats why all souls travel thru the astral to their respective locations. Also the reason they can attack each others domain without being blocked, does not take much to block extradiminsional travel. ;3
Edit-The first world falls under another dimension so its connected to etheir the astral or ethereal plane.
Looking over his notes, he marks a few common themes. It seemed he would need to move to another tower to look. He would focus on the shadow plane, the first world, and the material plane having to do with the ancient past.
If you say so, dont see why Gelein would care for other gods unless Nethys interest were involved. Which I dont really see, he is a tricky one to serve I admit. <3

Gelein moves thru the stacks looking thru the sections that could have some connection to the subject he was looking for. Taking books as needed giving them a look thru and dividing them into piles back at his table that may prove useful and those that have a connection to the area of study dealing with the subject.
Gelein thinks finally he can get some answers. He looks for anything to do with the Library of Ages. While keeping an eye out for anything having to do with the strange events that have been going on.
He secretly could not stand heaven it was too polished, too smooth. As if cut off from the reality that was life, paradise quickly got boring and false to him. He simply figured it was a flaw of his nature, the same way he found utter evil to be over the top and such. He would simply wait for them to give him an answer. Why they needed to consider it was beyond him, Nethys was a god of knowledge as such his priest went after knowledge all the time. It did not mean he was going to use that knowledge as he was with Nethys and so uninvolved like the angels said themselves.
I would not consider it dead just yet as RL happens. As for them coming over to this game, if/when the game is considered dead it would depend on the character. After all this game had different rules to theirs and more then just lowering the levels will be involved. They may have to completely rebuild their characters or even make new ones. Not a simple transfer and will take a good deal of time on their part. Not to mention a larger epic party will increase the CR of enemies so their number or power will go up and at epic thats an even greater balancing act then normal. In the event that you would take them I would suggest only taking 2, that will bring us up to a party of 5 total (not counting MIA Vanshoon) which is not to much of a shift in CR and such. With that I would prefer a tanking type and rogueish type to round out our party sense we more then cover the magic and healing.
Again thanking his protections his thoughts wondered but he kept them guarded none the less. Yet a thought of "here we go" creeped by. He bowed again, his mask hiding his neutral face.

Yeah I would never let a cohort have leadership sense it is abusable real easy. Just have their cohort get leadership too and before you know it thats an army. Granted lower lvls but still enough to be a threat to most towns and small kingdoms sense we are such high lvl when the chain is started.
I will add traits to mine shortly. But personally I doubt my cohort will replace Gelein, he has way to many fail safe's in place even should he die. ;)
Gelein stopped himself from slapping his hand atop his mask and groaning. So it started, he silently thanked Nethys his protections were in place. Powerful angels could read minds and his was none to kind at the moment. Stepping forward his staff thumping along side him he gives a slight bow to the angels before him.
"Greetings, I would ask to be allowed to make use of The Great Library of Harmonious Scripture. Their are strange and threating events taking place on my world as well as on the astral. I would seek answers to these questions among Heaven's wisdom so that I might aid in setting things right once more."
Geez I did not want to use gate. Aw well when even souls cant make their way to heaven I guess you have to use the big guns. Thats a bit disturbing, every power good thru evil should be freaking at that. No souls is bad for everyone. Messing with the Astral plane is beyond godlike if you ask me.
Gelein was getting annoyed, his eyes shifting black. He did not know what was going on but he would find out. He dismisses the spell, once more back in his tower. He went storming to his conjuration chambers. It was one of the most protected rooms in the tower, maybe even thru out the inner sea. He prepared the spell and double checked the protections and wards. Finally when he was ready he cast the spell, a gate to Heaven outside the library proper. He had a good idea of what was coming but then again he was forced into this. He could already feel a bit of the headache that was sure to come.
I would be more concerned with that strange item. Too bad you did not get a chance to study it. From what happened I would say that demon was someone's whipping boy. Binding a demon of that power with just an item is no joke.
Its not so much the discreption itself as the style of the attack and him being an outsider. It screams demon and if its not a balor the list is very short, anyways knowing what it is does not help if you have changed it around which is common. The most you can hope for is general stuff but looking up the monster itself wont be that useful. Small simple changes can create unexpected challenges for PCs. ;)
I dont know, OOC I know what that is and its not easy solo. Also doubt your threat will have any effect, really anything from a fiendish plane is not going to be scared of a mortal. They build cities out of living souls and other horrors, how scary are you after that.
But really I wish you the best of luck, remember fiends can be wily. ;)
P.S. Wonder if Imperial dragons would count for that spell. Would be cool if they did.
Upon the next day he figures he may as well do something. Thinking upon the Library of Ages, another library of plane spanning knowledge comes to mind. He gave an inner groan of annoyance, yet he prepared the spell. Astral Projection as it was called would allow a quick return and fewer risk. With all his fail safe's and protections in place he cast the spell and headed to Heaven's library known as The Great Library of Harmonious Scripture.
If I jumped the gun let me know, I just hate doing nothing.
I was not expecting the info right off the bat. I expected at least a hint. Unless I missed something Gelein has no leads, no hints, and no way to get any. Sense he is so high lvl anything that would have any useful information would likely be off plane. For the sack of the adventure and his own nature I dont want to send him off plane. In that case I guess he just waits until the three days are up then touches the botton for lack of any better options. Better then risking that he is on some other plane when the time comes.
Axis I think would be the best choice if he did go off plane, its orderly nature would keep great records. ;)
