How does this "recover during a short rest work". This is my first time playing 5E and I must of missed it when I was looking the rules over. I'm guessing roll your hit dice and add your CON bonus? I want to thank you all for bearing with me as my posting rate hasn't really been what I expected it to be. Nor the quality of my posts truth be told. Real life has been tossing some real curve balls at me the last few weeks and I'm having trouble giving the online games I've committed to the attention they deserve. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Garth starts looking at scene in an effort to figure out what happened and where any trail that remains might lead. He travels wherever the trail and clues take him. Let's see if something can tell us if it really was an undead creature that was responsible or not. He thinks to himself. It probably was but it's nice to know for sure. Of Course knowing exactly what we're dealing with could make a difference between living or dying so reading these trails signs right is critical.

Garth stays quiet as the group moves forward. He takes note of their path and keeps track of details so that if they have to come back in this direction in a hurry they won't get lost. Maybe I should have asked about the reward money? he thinks. I don't really need all that much, but it probably looks strange not to ask. He ruefully shakes his head as he ponders. I was so focused on the undead problem and - I can admit it to myself at least - rattled about the "Harper Spy" comment the half elf made earlier, I forgot all about the money. He grins. Sleep with the innkeepers's wife, not likely! I wonder what she really knows or if she's as clueless as she appears.

Garth nods at Sera and finally answers her. "Sorry, as my words were traveling from my mind to my tongue, a black cat crossed their path and they had to take a much longer route to get there." The bearded youth shakes his head. "Bad luck to let a black cat cross your path, don't you know." Garth nods his head to the others who have gathered. "I'm Garth Stormwind and I'm here about the handbill as well." As the server puts a mug in front of him it's easy to see that the contents are steaming water and not alcohol. Garth drops a few herbs into the water and the smell of mint comes from the drink. "I've no moral objection to beer, ale, mead, or any other alcohol, but when the future is uncertain I'd rather drink something that will clear my head than cloud it."

Garth Stormwind enters the room. He's a young human male, although at first glance you could be forgiven for mistaking him for old. A few strands of red still appear here and there in his greyish white hair and full beard, still his youth is easy to determine with a little examination. He's armed with a longbow, a quiver of arrows, and twin shortswords, while he wears scale mail armor.

I'm still formatting my character sheet online, I've gotten spoiled by how much work Hero Labs does in formatting Pathfinder characters for posting. Still I did go ahead and post a Hero Labs stat block in my Profile while I'm getting everything looking nice. Again I think everything is done. I didn't pick an alternative resource book because I only used the Player's Handbook in building my character. I think I still need to pick out or roll for a trinket - although having played once and DM'd at least twice back in the old days the classic module Rahasia (B7) I'm rather partial to the empty wine bottle.
This is Ghost1776 character. He's a Human Ranger, 1st level of course. I'm not finished posting everything online yet but I didn't want to keep people in the dark about want I was playing. I think I have everything finished on paper, and what I do have online isn't formatted properly.
