I am not really sure about doing anything with the fortress island at this time. We have limited resources. The island is far enough away that anyone out there is pretty much on their own. I am of the opinion we should get things settled and functioning in Newspring before we take on any other projects. The gardens and orchards on the island are too far away to be useful. and setting up a trail to move back and forth is a lot of work that takes resources we don't have especially if we have to patrol it. The people on patrol can't be foraging for food or working on a building project.

perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Gaross looks around for some sign of the other members of the exploration party.

Gaross stumps along behind Hassan and Istiel. grumbling about early mornings and there not being any beer to drink.

perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

I was simply commenting that I have heard that amazing things can be made from dragon hide. I was in no way suggestin that we try and get some.

They ain't the only ones missing sleep because of this. Gaross growls back at Hassan. The young dwarfs eyes shine with excitment that belies his ill humor. He stands waiting in his leather apron. A long handled Warhammer with a stone head slung over one shoulder.

As they head out Gaross says to the others Whats this I heard about little dragons in the area. You can make some great things out of dragon hide.

I am going to assume that Gaross finished his Warhammer. While the rolls haven't been very good I was treating it as a metal Warhammer not a stone one. If I had been treating it as a stone one he would have finished it the first day.

"Well if I can get my finally get the stone warhammer I have been working on put together today then I will go with you tomorrow elf." Gaross says. "The other masons seem to have the Vallen Silverclasps forge well in hand. So they don't need me underfoot."

craft(weapons): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 If he gets some help from Horn'Tos or someone it will make the 15 needed to finish the warhammer.

"The name is Stonejaw! Gaross Stonejaw." Gaross growls at Sorala. "Why do you think all dwarves know something about forging weapons. I'm a stone mason."

He goes with Sorala anyway. When shown Valentinain's body he scowls. "You halfling is dead. From the look of him I'd say he had a very bad day. Is that what you were hoping I could tell you?" Gaross say in a milder tone. "Have you thought about what you are going to tell his kin?"

Day 13 14th day of Gozran

Gaross again tries to finish his stone Warhammer but can manage to get the head solidly fastened to the half he has prepared.

profession(architect): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
craft(stonemasonry): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

Gaross continues to help with the construction of the Forge.

Is Horn'Tos able to help him finish his Warhammer? or does he need to wait for Vallen and Kal'Tos to come back?

Day 12 13th day of Gozran

Gaross approaches Horn'Tos early in the morning. He has with him the stone Hammer head he carved, several stout lengths of wood, and several strips of leather. Horn'Tos thank you for the loan of the tools yesterday. I appreciate your trusting me with them. I have a question for you? I saw you made some sheilds out of the Ants your brother and his companions killed, and I was wondering if you know anything about fashioning Weapons?

Day 11 Gozran 12

Gaross spend the morning working on the forge with the others that Vallen has recruited to do te work.

prof (architect): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
craft (stonemasonry): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

That evening he borrows some tools from Horn'Tos and works on finishing his stone Warhammer. He uses the stone hammer head he carved out the afternoon before and a stout stick whittled down to the proper shape and some leather strips cut from his apron.

craft (weapons): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

okay that is a failing roll. The warhammer is 90% done with the previous two days work but I guess assembly is giving him some problems.
Gaross struggles with getting the stone hammer head to fit solidly on the wooden haft. He actuall manages to break the haft. Frustrated he goes to Horn'Tos for help.

Day 10, 11th of Gozran

Gaross spends part of the day working on the forge.
profession(architect): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
craft(stonemasonry): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

In the afternoon he begins carving the head of his hammer from the piece of stone he found the evening before.
craft(stonemasonry): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22x15=330/7=47.14

If Hassan doesn't get mauled by the bear. He is gonna get mauled by the residents of Newspring for chasing a bear into the camp.

Male Dwarf Lvl 1 expert

Checks by the day that means 330/7=47 rounded down. That is a little more than a third of the way done. Nearly half actually. I am going to go with the full value of the warhammer since Gaross is shaping the hammer head.

Day 9 the 10th of Gozran
While Gaross is no warrior the talk of shark-jawed natives and hostile fey has worried him. His tools don't make very good weapons. His hammer is too light and short, and the few chisels he has are designed to cut stone not flesh. He is determined though that if he has to fight he will give a good accounting of himself. In order to do this though he needs a decent weapon, and since he has no gold to buy one and there are none to be bought even if he had gold, he decides to make one.

After he finishes his work on the forge for the day he walks along the stream searching among the rocks and boulders there for a large peice of Granite or Basalt.

Craft stonemason: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 to find a good piece of stone that will suit his purpose

Once he finds a suitable peice of stone he takes it back to the camp with him to work on the next day.

What was decided about crafting things with out gold to buy materials?

Also say I want to craft a stone warhammer. I pay 1/3 of the item cost in silver so 40 silver for a warhammer

Then I make crafting rolls 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 (borrowing any tools I would need from Horn'Tos)

Then I multiply the results of my roll by the DC of the item. so 22x15(martial weapon)=330 I successfully complete the Warhammer and it takes a little more than 2 days because 330 is 2.75 time greater than the cost of the completed item so it is completed in a little more than a third of the time.

Is this right.

Since it is being made out of stone it cost 1/4 of a normal one so 4 gp
It has the fragile condition and only has a hardness of 2.5.

Is this okay? can I use these rolls and do the description of crafting it over in the gamplay thread.

So a fat woman werebear druid and a pair of midget werebear druids

Tailor workshop is on Ben's list since Gwenydd has those skills

where are the bears in relation to the Forge we are building. Gaross probably wouldn't get involved though since he is completely unarmed. I think I am going to have him craft a Stone Warhammer.

Male Dwarf Lvl 1 expert

That is the one thing I don't like about that system. You have to spend gold to earn capital.

I guess I should take the capital though. So that is minus 10 gold in exchange for 2 labor capital.

Gaross spends most of the day working on getting Vallen's forge built right.

profession(Architect): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
craft (stonemasonry): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

He takes some time to meet with Sandra Thayer and show her the plans he drew up with Vallen for the Palisade and recommends adding a walkway near the top for guards to patrol. I think adding a guard post to the wall makes the walls walkable.

Male Dwarf Lvl 1 expert

yep Gaross with help with the forge and we should definately build in wood first we can build a second wall in stone around the first when we have time.

Male Dwarf Lvl 1 expert

I will give it some thought and present you with some options tomorrow evening if you like. Gaross replies. If Edmund answers in the afirmative Gaross stumps off and spends the rest of the day drawing out various options for the design of the fortifications in the sand before going back to Vallen and asking for his help acquiring the means to make more permanant plans to present to the Thayers.

Male Dwarf Lvl 1 expert

After talking with Vallen, Gaross goes looking for Edmund Thayer. Finding him on the beach training. Gaross sits on a hillock nearby and waits until Edmund takes a break before aproaching the human.
Master Thayer. My name is Gaross Stonejaw-slagsun I am an engineer and a stonemason. You seem like a man that could use my services.

Gaross attends the morning prayers led by Vallen. Afterwards he stay and talks to the cleric about his past and why he was here in the new world. Vallen see the background And asks if he thinks it is possible for him to clear his families name here.

Male Dwarf Lvl 1 expert

I have a bit of backstory up for Gaross. Until he does something great enough to redeem his family he is officially Gaross Stonejaw-Slagsun.
